Jerry Arnold Caster
The memorial service for Jerry Arnold Caster will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Ascension Lutheran Church in Medford. Pastor Bob Larson will officiate.
Mr. Caster, 60, of Central Point, died Wednesday (Dec. 4, 2002) at his home.

He was born April 19, 1942, in Weed, Calif., to Edwin and Nona (Dodson) Caster. He graduated from Yreka High School. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1962 from Hilt, Calif. On Nov. 23, 1962, in Reno, Nev., he married
Teresa Dae Mee, who survives.
Mr. Caster was a safety engineer for nuclear power plants.
He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and showing his award-winning 1962 GMC pickup.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Kevin Scott, Central Point, and Shawn Michael, Eagle Point; a sister, Jodi Redhead, Medford; and three grandchildren.

John Joseph LaRue Sr.
John Joseph LaRue Sr., 74, of Medford, died Thursday (Dec. 5, 2002) at his home.
The memorial Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Medford. Rosary will be said at 8 a.m.

He was born July 1, 1928, in San Pedro, Calif. On Oct. 8, 1954, in Yuma, Ariz., he married
Carol M. True, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 15 years ago from San Pedro.
Mr. LaRue served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a machinist in the San Pedro area for 20 years before his retirement.
Mr. LaRue was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Medford.
He enjoyed oil painting.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Mike, Medford, and John Jr., San Pedro; three daughters, Donna LaRue Hannaford, Medford, Kathy Hilton, Battleground, Wash., and Chris Prejiant, Moorpark, Calif.; four sisters, Elizabeth Kellom, Anaheim, Calif., and Catherine Muller, Margaret Vidulich and Marie Schiller, all of San Pedro; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Roy Elbert Renfro
The funeral service for Roy Elbert Renfro will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Memory Gardens Chapel, Medford. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mr. Renfro, 75, of Central Point, died Thursday (Dec. 5, 2002) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1927, in Klamath Falls. On Aug. 5, 1946, in Reno, Nev., he married
Shirley M. Tant, who survives. He lived in the Rogue Valley most of his life.
Mr. Renfro served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked for Boise Cascade as a millwright, retiring after 41 years as mill superintendent.
Mr. Renfro enjoyed hunting, gardening, wood cutting and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Rolly G., Gold Hill, and Kirby J., Central Point; two daughters, Linda Hendrix and Marie Chubb, both Central Point.; a brother, Roland L., Gold Hill; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Memory Gardens Mortuary.
Marvin Rose
A funeral service for Marvin Rose will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church, Central Point. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Eagle Point National cemetery, Eagle Point. The Rev. Jim Clifford of Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church will officiate.
Mr. Rose, 79, of Medford, died Nov. 29, 2002, in Medford.

He was born on Feb. 28, 1923, in Grotin, S.D., a son of Otto Alexander and Susie (Jensen). On Dec. 24, 1945, in Whittier, Calif., he married
Margaret Moulton, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1948 from Detroit.
Mr. Rose served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, serving in the 3rd Division and the anti-tank attachment in the South Pacific and Guadalcanal. He was honorably discharged at the rank of corporal in June 1946.
He worked for auto shops in Medford and was service manager for Morse Motors from 1954 to 1973. He retired as a service manager from Gleaves Volkswagen in 1985.
Mr. Rose enjoyed traveling.
In addition to his wife, survivors include four sons, Steven, Medford, Timothy, Grants Pass, Thomas, Klamath Falls, and Dennis, Salem; a daughter, Susan Rose, Medford; two brothers; three sisters; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Valerie Jean Gibert
A memorial service for Valerie Jean Gibert will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Mrs. Gibert, 26, of Grants Pass, died Thursday (Dec. 5, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
She was born March 22, 1976, in Fontana, Calif., the daughter of Russell and Marilyn McLaughlin.
On Aug. 12, 2000, in Grants Pass, she married
Jason Gibert, who survives.
Mrs. Gibert was a staffing coordinator for Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass. She loved sports, especially basketball and volleyball, and enjoyed fishing and all-terrain vehicle riding.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Gibert is survived by a son, Ethan Gibert of Grants Pass; her parents, Russell and Marilyn Gibert of San Bernardino, Calif.; a sister, Veronica McLaughlin of San Bernardino; and her grandparents, Bob and Bonnie McLaughlin of San Francisco and C.A. and Virginia Mossey of San Bernardino.

Phyllis L. Setchell
The memorial service for Phyllis L. Setchell will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Sutherlin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Coos Bay Firefighters Memorial Fund through U.S. Bank or to a favorite charity.
Mrs. Setchell, 85, of Sutherlin, formerly of Medford, died Friday (Dec. 6, 2002) in Roseburg.
She was born May 14, 1917, in Stanwood, Wash. Mrs. Setchell lived in the Rogue Valley for several years and moved to Sutherlin in 1993.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; four children, Robert Rue of Boise; Gordon Rue of Sutherlin; Ester Dies of Sutherlin; and Carole Moore of Talent; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Charles Clayton Setchell Sr.
Funeral services for Charles Clayton Setchell Sr. will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Conger-Morris Chapel in Medford. Pastor Larry Jung of First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville will officiate.

Mr. Setchell, 87, of Jacksonville, died Thursday (Dec. 5, 2002) in Medford.
He was born Sept. 19, 1915, in Riley, Kan. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1937.
In 1993 in Jacksonville, he married
Marian B. Thurston, who survives.
Mr. Setchell was a rancher and engineer for Providence Medford Medical Center. He retired in 1981.
He was a member of the Griffin Creek Grange. Hobbies included reading and gardening.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Charles C. Setchell Jr. of Henderson, Nev.; a daughter, Cynthia F. Scala of Medford; a brother, John Setchell of Sutherlin; his sister, Ellen Gatter of Phoenix; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Eva E. Budovic

Mrs. Budovic, 81, of Medford, died Friday (Dec. 6, 2002) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 31, 1921, near Pasamonte, N.M., the daughter of Fred and Dilla (Criner) Chapman.
On March 14, 1954, in Medford, she married
Walter Budovic, who died in 1987.
Mrs. Budovic was a homemaker. She lived in the Rogue Valley for 55 years, moving here from West Virginia.
Mrs. Budovic was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Her interests included church activities, family, animals and music.
She is survived by four children, Sue Gill of Sams Valley, Patti Keller of Medford, Phyllis Scott of Berryton, Kan., and Shawn Budovic of Shady Cove; five brothers, Willard Chapman of Ashland, Charles Chapman of Wamego, Kan., and Ira, Lewis and Eldon Chapman, all of Manhattan, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition her husband, Mrs. Budovic was preceded in death by a brother, William Chapman.

Lee James Stevenson
The funeral service for Lee James Stevenson will begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Central Valley Chapel in Central Point.
On Thursday, another memorial and burial service will take place in Stevensonville, Montana.
Friends may pay their respects from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday at Central Valley Chapel.
Mr. Stevenson, 82, of Medford, died Wednesday (Dec. 6, 2002) at Medford Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Lubbock, Texas. He lived in the Rogue Valley for several years, and settled down permanently in Medford in 1999.
On Oct. 3, 1999, in Medford, he married
Onita Bowlin, who survives.
Mr. Stevenson served in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a disabled veteran and musician.
Mr. Stevenson was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers Association and Veterans of Foreign Wars. His hobbies included spending time with his only great-grandson.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three stepsons, Bob, Charles and John Johnson; a daughter, Frances Vallee; a stepdaughter, Doris William; one granddaughter, many step-grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
