Barbara Lee Bostock
Barbara Lee Bostock, 64, of Medford, died Saturday (Feb. 1, 2003) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. A private service will be held in Seattle. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, 110 E. Main St., Ashland, OR 97520.

She was born Barbara Rishky on March 27, 1938, in Wenatchee, Wash. On Sept. 10, 1955, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho she married Donald R. Bostock, who died in 1986. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1956 from Wenatchee, Wash.

Mrs. Bostock was a teller at various banks in the Rogue Valley. She worked at Bank of America as a vault teller for several years before her retirement in 1992.

She enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include a son, Bryan; three daughters, Sheri Greenlee, Wendi Skelton and Lori Bostock; two brothers; two sisters; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Lewis Campion Heath
Lewis Campion Heath, 86, of Medford, died Sunday (Feb. 2, 2003) in Medford. A private service will be held. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford. Tim Olson of Bethel Church will officiate.

He was born Sept. 23, 1916, in East Haven, Vt., to Ralph and Bernice Heath. On Nov. 27, 1940, in Springfield, Vt., he married Eleanor Bigelow, who survives. They moved to Medford from Southern California in 1990.

Mr. Heath was a machinist involved in the production of heat shields for the first space shuttle (Columbia) flight into space.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald and Maurice, both Medford; a daughter, Marion Munoz, Medford; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Memorial Park and Mortuary, Medford.

Craig Vittetoe
Craig B. Vittetoe, 79, died Wednesday (Jan. 1, 2003) at Ashland Community Hospital. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley Symphony, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, OR 97520.

He was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, to John C. and Mary Frances Bensler Vittetoe. In 1940, he graduated from Greeley High School in Greeley, Colo. He attended Colorado State College of Education and Colorado School of Mines.

During World War II, he served in the headquarters of the U.S. First Army. After the war, he attended Stanford University, where he studied English and French.

In 1951, in Palo Alto, Calif., he married Annerose (Anne) Schoenhaar, who survives. He taught school in Palo Alto for 34 years and was head of the English Department at Palo Alto High School. After retiring, he moved with his wife to Ashland in 1985, where he taught English and French at what was then Southern Oregon State College.

He enjoyed music and was a member of the San Andreas String Quartet for 30 years. In California, he was a cellist in the San Jose Symphony and Santa Clara Philharmonic. He played with the Rogue Valley Symphony for eight years.

He was co-author of a series of English texts and also taught during summers at universities in Nebraska, Missouri and California.

He served as a member of the Commission on English of the National Council of Teachers of English.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Melanie; a son, Tim; and two grandchildren.

Timothy B. Kissinger
The funeral service for Timothy B. Kissinger will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Catholic chapel in the Department of Veterans Affairs Domiciliary in White City. Interment will be at the Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Kissinger, 52, of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 4, 2003) at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Portland.

He was born Nov. 4, 1950, in Oceanside, Calif. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era, and had worked as a registered nurse.

He enjoyed golf.

Survivors include his companion, Evangel Wherley; a daughter, Angelica Wherley; and five brothers, David, Kelly and Scott, Oceanside; Taylor, Clatskanie; and Peter, Santa Cruz, Calif.

William A. ‘Bill’ Busby
The graveside service for William A. "Bill" Busby will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Antioch cemetery in Sams Valley. Pastor Chris Naranjo and the Eagle Point Grange will officiate.

Mr. Busby, 80, of Eagle Point, died Saturday (Jan. 4, 2003) at his home.

He was born in Holton, Kan., on Sept. 17, 1922, and lived in Kansas City, Mo., and Cheyenne, Wyo., before moving to San Francisco in 1939. He built ships at Mare Island until he was drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1943. He served as a nose-gunner in a B-24 Liberator bomber, and was shot down over Italy. He spent more than a year as a German prisoner of war, and marched from Poland to Germany. He received the Air Medal, Victory Medal and Purple Heart.

After the war he returned to San Francisco to continue his ship-building work and helped build nuclear-powered submarines and surface ships. He retired in 1972 and moved to Eagle Point in 1981, where he married Jeri Greb, who survives.

He enjoyed traveling, reading western novels, and watching rodeo bull riding on television. He was a member of the Butte Creek Baptist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Eagle Point Grange.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Gloria Holloway, Eagle Point, Linda Bay, Novato, Calif., Lori Sessions, Watsonville, Calif.; two sons, Darrel Greb, Central Point, Ron Greb, Canyon City; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary and Memorial Park, Medford.

Burnell Hatch
The memorial service for Burnell Hatch will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Mr. Hatch, 86, of Medford, died Friday (Jan. 3, 2003) at his home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Rogue Valley Medical Center Hospice, 2960 Doctors Park Drive, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born May 18, 1916, in Hood River to John M. and Grace Messler Hatch. He had lived in the Rogue Valley since 1930.

In 1938, in Vancouver, Wash., he married Anna F. Dickey, who died in 1987.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 and served two years in the 97th Infantry Division in Europe and Japan.

He worked as a traffic foreman for Jackson County.

In 1992 he married Edith Rawlings Hatch, who survives.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and playing pinochle.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Walter, Salem; two stepdaughters, Kellie Fenwick, New Baltimore, Mich., and Neva Brekke, Buena Vista, Colo.; three grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Covel; and two sisters, Winifred and Murial.

Arrangements: Hillcrest Mortuary and Memorial Park.

Thomas Arthur Wasson
The graveside service for Thomas Arthur Wasson will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Klamath Memorial Park, 2860 Memorial Drive, Klamath Falls.

Mr. Wasson, 72, of Eagle Point, died Wednesday (Jan. 1, 2003) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 7420 S.W. Bridgeport Road, Suite 200, Tualatin, OR 97224.

He was born Oct. 9, 1930, in Espanola, N.M., to Thomas and Mae Wasson. On Dec. 30, 1978, in Reno, Nev., he married Judy Marie Dockery, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley from Klamath Falls in 1985.

Mr. Wasson owned an operated Tom Wasson Excavating in Klamath Falls and Medford. He was an operating engineer, retiring in 1990.

He was the lead guitar player for his band, called Tommy Wasson and the Dew Drops.

Mr. Wasson was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, White City Ward, and Operating Engineers Union Local 701.

He enjoyed music and animals.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Richard A. Wasson, Cove, Thomas B. Wasson, Klamath Falls, and Richard C. Crowe, Eagle Point; four daughters, Alice M. Georgianna, Medford, Sharon L. Carter, Eugene, Linda A. Cook, Ashland, and Sandra Kirk, Eagle Point; a brother, Billy Wasson, Salem; two sisters, Peggy Pool, Klamath Falls, and Jean Aber, Vallejo, Calif.; 36 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Hall.

Albert John Good
Albert John Good, 92, of Medford, died Thursday (Jan. 2, 2003) at his home. A private service was held.

He was born Dec. 26, 1910, in Vancouver, Wash., to Albert Sr. and Eva (Mills) Good. He graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles. He met his wife, Marina, in Costa Rica, and they were married Jan. 19, 1944, in San Jose, Costa Rica, where they lived until 1958.

Mr. Good was a commercial tuna fisherman in San Diego.

He was an amateur ham radio operator and avid reader. He enjoyed playing the organ, which he learned to play late in life.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 59 years, include two sons, Edward, Medford, and Albert J., Encinitas, Calif.; a daughter, Helen "Chris" Brown, Melbourne, Australia; and four grandchildren.

Arrangements: Conger-Morris Funeral Directors, Medford.

Caroline Marie Langlois
The graveside service for Caroline Marie Langlois will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland. The Rev. Joseph Betschart of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church will officiate.

Mrs. Langlois, 88, of Ashland, died Thursday (Jan. 2, 2003) at Skylark Assisted Living, Ashland.

She was born May 19, 1914, in Park Falls, Wis., to Louis and Anna (Wagner) Schweikl. In 1931, in Park Falls, Wis., she married Leo Langlois, who died in 1988. They lived in Milwaukee and moved to Ashland in 1946.

Mrs. Langlois and her husband owned the Emigrant Lake Cafe for seven years before it was moved to make way for the Emigrant Lake recreation area.

She was a longtime member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church and was past president of the Ashland Senior Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen DeMartini, Ashland; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers.

Arrangements: Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Ralph Eugene Rayfield
Ralph Eugene Rayfield, 80, of Rogue River, died Tuesday (Dec. 31, 2002) at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass. A private service will be held in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lovejoy Hospice, 939 S.E. Eighth St., Grants Pass, OR 97526.

He was born March 17, 1922, in El Reno, Okla. In 1941, he graduated from San Jose High School in California. In 1945, in California, he married Janie Jannelle Hightower, who died in 1997. He built a home in Rogue River in 1981, and moved there from Visalia, Calif., in 1995.

Mr. Rayfield was a billing clerk with Southern Oregon Railroad for more than 23 years. After retirement, he operated Rayfield Machinery in Cupertino, Calif., for a few years. He also worked for several other businesses related to purchasing electrical supplies and manufacturing in California and Oregon.

During World War II, he was a pharmacist’s mate first class in the U.S. Navy. He also served as a hospital corpsman at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, Calif., during the Korean War.

Mr. Rayfield was a member of the Rogue River Church of Christ, the Grange and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He enjoyed reading and John Wayne western movies.

Survivors include two daughters, Lila Spiritwalker, Rogue River, and Mary Jane Rayfield, Anaconda, Mont.; a brother, Charles, in Texas; six sisters, Pauline Roundtree, in California, Jody Corso, in South Carolina, Katie Sieg, Corvallis, Neva Louise Rasmussen, in Arizona, and Jeannie Herrschkraft and Linda Millay, both in California; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Arrangements: Chapel of the Valley Funeral Home, Grants Pass.

Joshua Lyle Fichtner
The funeral for Joshua Lyle Fichtner will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Trail Christian Fellowship in Eagle Point. Pastor Doug Higuera will officiate. The graveside service and interment will follow at Eagle Point National cemetery.

Joshua, 3-month-old son of Wesley and Suzanne Fichtner of Gold Hill, died Monday (Dec. 30, 2002) at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Joshua Fichtner Fund, c/o Rogue Federal Credit Union, 1123 Royal Ave., Medford, OR 97504, for the purchase of a brick with Joshua’s name at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

He was born Sept. 18, 2002, at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital in Portland, to Wesley and Suzanne (Olson) Fichtner.

Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his sisters, Jasmine and Alexis, Sams Valley; his grandparents, William and Jan Olson, Medford, E. Richard Fichtner, Eagle Point, and Larry and Mary Neel, Sams Valley; and his great-grandparents, Lyle and Elmer Sharp, Cecilia Fichtner, and Vonnie Fichtner, all of Medford.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.

James E. Lee
James E. Lee, 51, of Eagle Point, died Thursday (Jan. 2, 2003) in Medford. A private service will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley Dialysis Center, 2868 Creekside Drive, Medford, OR 97504.

He was born Oct. 23, 1951, in Seattle to Al and Ruby (Iverson) Lee. He grew up in Seattle, Spokane and Portland. He attended and graduated from Central Valley High School in Spokane, Wash. He moved to Eagle Point in 1993 from Portland. On July 4, 1993, in Medford, he married Richarda Black, who survives.

Mr. Lee was a postal carrier in Portland until his retirement.

He enjoyed working with pyrotechnics and put on Fourth of July fireworks shows in small towns around the area. He also handmade T-shirts with people’s pictures on the shirts. He enjoyed traveling.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Luke Lee, in Colorado, and Jimmy Stimach, Portland; a daughter, Julia Stimach, in Wyoming; a stepson, James Black, in Ohio; a stepdaughter, Gaynelle Price, in Ohio; his parents, Al and Ruby Lee, Eagle Point; a brother, Robert, Eagle Point; three sisters, Linda Pearsal, in California, Susan Morhouse, in New York, and Karen Dalton, in Idaho; and one granddaughter.

Arrangements: Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.
