Jean Ann Thomas
Jean Ann Thomas, 76, died July 28, 2007 in Sherwood, Ore. of complications from Alzheimer's.
She was born Nov. 28, 1930 in Salem to Noris Clement and Francis Clement.
She attended schools in Salem, and later worked for the State of Oregon.
Jean married Lyle Thomas on Aug. 29, 1947.
She was a member of the Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband Lyle; daughter Linda Zimmerman; and sons Rodney Thomas, Bruce Thomas, Kent Thomas, Jon Thomas, Mark Bunnell and Jeff Bunnell.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 6, 2007 at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen funeral home, 1350 Commercial SE, Salem.
Howell-Edwards-Doerksen is handling the arrangements.
Roberta 'Bobbie' Forsythe
Roberta "Bobbie" Forsythe, 92, of Portland and formerly of Newport, died July 19, 2007.
She was born Aug. 18, 1914 in Palo Alto, Calif. to Lance H. Smith and Rosa Bell Smith.
She moved to Portland in 1918.
Bobbie and her husband, Louis Forsythe, were long-time residents of Newport, from 1965 until 1998, when they returned to Portland.
During her time in Newport, Bobbie was active in her church and community.
She is survived by her daughter Barbara Anderson; stepson Richard Forsythe; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A gathering in Bobbie's memory was held July 21, 2007 at Summerplace Assisted Living in Portland.
Donations in Bobbie's name can be made to hospice.
Robert W. Smith
Robert W. Smith, 67, died Aug. 1, 2007 at home in Toledo.
He was born Nov. 4, 1939 in Buffalo, New York.
Arrangements are by Affordable Burial & Cremation Co. of Newport.
Marsh J. 'Ms. Wiz' Wisniewski
Marsh J. 'Ms. Wiz' Wisniewski, 67, of Seal Rock, died Aug. 3, 2004 of natural causes in Seal Rock.
She was born Feb. 2, 1937 in Portland. Her parents are Frank Stewart and Bob and Shorty (Allen) MacDougall.
She was raised in Depoe Bay and graduated from Taft High School, she then went on to graduate from Oregon College of Education (now Western Oregon College) with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.
She was an elementary and middle school teacher with the Lincoln County School District, teaching in Newport for 30 years.
She enjoyed the piano, flight simulation, cross-stitch and logic puzzles. She also wrote short stories and poetry on the Internet.
She was preceded in death by here parents, Frank Stewart and Bob and Shorty MacDougall.
Survivors include her daughters, Patti Forcier of Siletz and Vikki of Hawaii; sister Donna King; brother Tom MacDougall; and grandchildren D'Laney Ford, Shannen Skriver, Kinzi Ford and Kristin Ford.
A private graveside service was held at Eureka Cemetery in Newport.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at the home of Patti and Cory Forcier at 123 Leisure Lane in Siletz.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Bateman Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
David Raivo
David Lee Raivo, 58, of Depoe Bay died of natural causes Aug. 2, 2004 in his home.
He was born Sept. 10, 1945 in Spokane, Wash. to Toivo and Carolyn (Lohnes) Raivo.
He was raised and graduated high school in Spokane. He moved to Alaska for a short time, then back to Spokane.
He married Shirley (Paschke) in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho on Oct. 26, 1963. He worked several occupations during his lifetime. He worked for Boeing Aircraft, owned and operated a carpet store, and was also self-employed as a painter and contractor.
His hobby was collecting rocks.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Raivo of Depoe Bay; daughters, Terri Coe of Spokane, Wash. and Ruth Anne Meling of Lincoln City; son, David C. Raivo of Cottage Grove; three brothers; two sisters; and grandchildren Millisa Coe and Nathan Duval of Spokane, Wash., and Tytus Meling of Lincoln City.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today (Aug. 6) at Pacific View Memorial Chapel in Lincoln City.

Paul Eldridge
Paul Marvelle Eldridge, 85, died on August 2, 2004 in South Beach.
He was born in Northampton, Mass. on April 7, 1919 to Melville and Elsie Eldridge.
He married Ruth Cramer on June 28, 1942 in Hartford, Conn., and they raised their family in Middletown, Conn.
He worked as an aerial photographer, trained pilots during World War II, helped design the Norton Bomb Sight, and worked for Raymond Engineering.
A life-long learner, he loved to scuba dive, fish, boat, watch birds, and design experimental aircraft.
Paul and Ruth moved to Jupiter, Fla. in the early 1980s, where he worked for Perry Energy Systems.
He and Ruth frequently traveled the length of the Intercoastal Waterway on their boat, the "DownEast."
He is preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Whitmore, and by his wife, Ruth.
He moved to Oregon in 2002.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Ward and Kathy Eldridge of Sitka, Ala., and Peter and Sheryl Eldridge of Seal Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Dale and Ted Kaye of Pleasanton, Calif.; three grandchildren and their spouses, Cinead and Erik Kubiak of New York, New York; Eric and Amy Edelberg of Castro Valley, Calif.; and Mark and Helena Eldridge, of Chino Hills, Calif.; step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Lazar of Austin, Texas and Rachel Lazar of Eugene; and one great-grandchild, Amelia Edelberg.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the National Audubon Society, 700 Broadway, New York, NY 10003.
Charles Kalk III
Charles H. Kalk III, 63, died July 11, 2004.
He was born Feb. 19, 1941.
He lived in the Otis area for about 30 years.
For five years, he worked as a custodian at Taft High School.
Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Susy Marie, three children and many grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 7 at Oceanlake Christian Church, 2100 NE 21st St., Lincoln City.
