Sophia H. Robbins
The funeral for Sophia H. Robbins will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Perl Funeral Home at Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mrs. Robbins, 86, of Medford, died Tuesday (Oct. 29, 2002) at Hearthstone in Medford.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Medford Senior Center, 510 E. Main St., Medford, OR 97504.
She was born Sophia Hoekstra on Oct. 21, 1916, in Sherry, Wis. In 1937, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., she married
John S. Robbins, who died in 1953. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1945 from Portland.
Mrs. Robbins worked for Josephine County Title Co., retiring in 1981.
She volunteered at the Medford Senior Center for many years after retiring.
Mrs. Robbins enjoyed crocheting, walking, gardening and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Robbins, Lake Oswego, and Judith Baysinger, Jacksonville; one sister; one brother; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Patricia Louise Totten
The memorial service for Patricia Louise Totten will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cornerstone Christian Church in Medford.
Mrs. Totten, 59, of Medford, died Wednesday (Oct. 30, 2002) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 14, 1943, in Corning, Calif., to Thelma Wyly. On April 21, 1963, in Oregon, she married
Leslie B. Totten Sr., who survives.
Mrs. Totten enjoyed collecting porcelain dolls and spending time with her family.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Leslie B. Jr., Boardman; two daughters, Kellie Mulder, Shady Cove, and Tamara Totten, Portland; her mother, Thelma Wyly, Central Point; two sisters, Dorothy Brown, Central Point, and Sherry Eamon, Medford; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Maloney; and a sister, Kathleen Rader.

Edward Whitney Inman
The graveside service for Edward Whitney Inman will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Eagle Point National cemetery. His nephew, the Rev. Joel Williams of New Life Assembly of God, will officiate.
Mr. Inman, 86, of Ashland, died Saturday (Oct. 26, 2002) in Central Point.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
He was born Feb. 13, 1916, in Golden, to Edward W. and Tarcy E. (Devor) Inman. He graduated from Central Point High School in 1934, then worked on various Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) projects after graduation.
On Aug. 3, 1940, in Reno, Nev., he married
Helen Hewitt, who survives. He lived all of his life in Jackson and Josephine counties. He lived in the Central Point area for more than 70 years.
Mr. Inman was the head pond man at Medford Corp. retiring in 1978 after 32 years. He was also a fishing guide on the Rogue and Chetco rivers from 1974 to 1988.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 95th Armored Division in the European Theater.
Mr. Inman was a member of Central Point Community Bible Church, Central Point Grange, Central Point I.O.O.F., the Rogue River Guide Association, and the Central Point Senior Center, where he was active in the Senior Singers.
He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Nancy Weston Toso, Ashland, and Doris H. Inman, Dallesport, Wash.; two sisters, Dorothy Williams, Gold Hill, and Arlene Coffman, Central Point; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Edyth Bohnert and Ernestine Lisenbee.
Friends may pay their respects from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Central Valley Chapel, Central Point.
Patricia Marian Grotts
The graveside service for Patricia Marian Grotts will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass. The Rev. Henry Rufo of St. Anne Catholic Church will officiate.
Mrs. Grotts, 90, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday (Oct. 30, 2002) at Royale Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center, Grants Pass.

She was born Dec. 6, 1911, in Hebron, N.D., to John and Kunigunda Grinsteine. On May 23, 1934, in Bismarck, N.D., she married
Tressler Grotts, who died in 1999. They moved to Grants Pass from Redwood City, Calif., in 1970.
Mrs. Grotts was a member of the Lady Elks, St. Anne Catholic Church and the Retail Clerks Union. She enjoyed gardening, music and playing the organ.
Survivors include a son, William, Grants Pass; one grandchild; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Bret Grotts.

Mildred Thigpin
Mildred Thigpin, 97, of Medford, died Tuesday (Oct. 29, 2002) at her home. No service will be held. Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

She was born Sept. 10, 1905, in Farmington, W.Va., to Charles and Harriet Miller. She came to Oregon from West Virginia as a young girl and lived here most of her life. In 1925, she married
George Summers, who died in 1942. In 1954, she married
Roy Thigpin, who died in 1991.
Mrs. Thigpin was a homemaker who enjoyed helping her family and neighbors.
She enjoyed reading her Bible, gardening, crocheting, fishing and spending time outdoors.
Survivors include two daughters, Lee Etta Sharp, Medford, and Margie Ann Shoemaker, Coos Bay; two sons, Dell Summers, Prospect, and Calvin Summers, Phoenix; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Don Summers; four sisters and two brothers.

James ‘Jim’ Mathews
The memorial service for James "Jim" Mathews will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grants Pass. Pastor Steve Parker will officiate. Private inurnment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens in Grants Pass.
Mr. Mathews, 86, of Grants Pass died Wednesday (Oct. 30, 2002) at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation in Grants Pass.

He was born Feb. 2, 1916, in Pasadena, Calif. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy with the Photo Services Division.
After his military service, Mr. Mathews worked as a special effects cameraman for several movie studios in Burbank and Hollywood, Calif., including MGM, Universal and Fox. He retired from Walt Disney Productions. Among the many movies he worked on was "Legend Of the Incas" with Charleston Heston.
He moved to Grants Pass in 1985 from Burbank, Calif. On Sept. 12, 1992, in Grants Pass, he married
Ruth Harris, who survives.
While living in California, he was a member of Hollywood Presbyterian Church, where he was a church elder and former deacon. He was also active with the Boy Scouts, as both a scout master and a volunteer. In Grants Pass, he was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church and the Golden Eagles Kiwanis Club.
Mr. Mathews was an avid bowler and an accomplished organ player.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Enid Nolan, Silver Springs, Md., Lisa Stukey, Morgan Hill, Calif., and April Rowley, Santa Rosa, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Robert B. Gage
Robert B. Gage, 71, of Ashland, died Monday (Oct. 28, 2002) at Jackson House in Talent. No service is planned.
He was born Jan. 26, 1931, in Fremont, Neb.
Mr. Gage was a real estate broker and had served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Gage was a member of Religious Science Unity. His hobbies included golf.
Survivors include a daughter, Karen Straub, Redding, Calif.; a son, Scott, New Berlin, Wis.; two sisters, Suzanne MacDonald and Marianne Livingstone, both in Seattle; a brother, Wilbur, Portland; and two grandchildren.

Albert E. Godwin
Albert E. Godwin, 87, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday (Oct. 29, 2002) at his home. A private service will be held.

He was born Feb. 10, 1915, in Little Springs, Miss., to Russell and Rebecca Godwin. On Aug. 3, 1940, in Houston, he married
Effie Simms, who survives. They moved to Grants Pass in 1991 from Southern California.
Mr. Godwin was a manager for a supermarket chain for more than 30 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II,
Mr. Godwin enjoyed family, cooking and singing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Jean L. Christian, Portland, and Charlotte Butterfield, Grants Pass; three sons, Albert E. Jr., Eight Mile, Ala., Charles R., and Russell, both Grants Pass; a sister, Trudy Eubank, Greenville, Miss; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren.

Regina Patricia Groover
The graveside service for Regina Patricia Groover will be at 11 a.m. today at Eagle Point National cemetery. The Rev. Jim Clifford of Good Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church in Central Point will officiate.
Mrs. Groover, 78, of Central Point, died Monday (Oct. 28, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Trenton, N.J., to Joseph and Josephine Kowalik. On Feb. 9, 1947, in Trenton, N.J., she married
Mahlon Groover, who died Oct. 13, 2002. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from Orange, Calif.
Mrs. Groover was a nurse.
She enjoyed the Sierra Nevada, the Anaheim Angels, playing slot machine and her grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Robert, Central Point, and Michael, Penn Valley, Calif.; a daughter, Regina Costantini, Trenton, N.J.; a sister, Marie Ferry, Trenton, N.J.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister.

Kevin Scott Trompeter
The memorial service for Kevin Scott Trompeter will be at 1 p.m. today at TouVelle State Park.
Mr. Trompeter, 34, of Medford, died of cancer Friday (Sept. 27, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 14, 1968, at Travis Air Force Base in California, to Joseph Paul and Syble (Wildman) Trompeter. He graduated from Maine Prairie High School in Dixon, Calif., in 1986. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1997 from Vacaville, Calif. On March 16, 2002, in Medford, he married
Gemma R. Blackwell, who survives.
Mr. Trompeter was a truck driver and enjoyed driving commercial trucks.
He enjoyed his family, dirt biking, camping and boating.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Justin, Medford, and Andrew, Vacaville, Calif.; a daughter, Kimberly, Medford; his mother, Syble Ewing, Red Bluff, Calif.; a brother, Steven, San Diego; a sister, Debbie McNamara, White City. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Paul Trompeter.

John Patrick Morrissey
The memorial service for John Patrick Morrissey will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Eagle Point National cemetery interment shelter.
Mr. Morrissey, 70, of Medford, died Monday (Sept. 30, 2002) at Hearthstone.
He was born March 17, 1932, in Boston, to Leo and Helene Morrissey.
Mr. Morrissey owned and operated a gift store, a sporting goods store and a janitorial service. He moved to the Rogue Valley in 1992 from Southern California.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Morrissey enjoyed traveling, photography and trips to Reno, Nev.
Survivors include two brothers, Richard, Jacksonville, and Leo, Hyampom, Calif.; three sisters, Helene Johnson, Jacksonville, Mary Laxson, Camarillo, Calif., and Patricia Matsumoto, Gardena, Calif. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter.

G.L. Scott
The celebration of the life of G.L. Scott will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at his home.
Mr. Scott, 76, of Rogue River, died Sunday (Sept. 29, 2002) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born April 23, 1926, in Tulsa, Okla., to Arlie and Emma Scott. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. On Dec. 19, 1981, in Denver, he married
Gwen Gustafson, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1984 from Denver.
Mr. Scott worked in the oil industry, most recently as chairman of the board for Pipeline Service Co.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.
Mr. Scott enjoyed investing, gaming, animals and helping people.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Cathy Wittrock, in Colorado, and Cindy Taylor, in Texas; two sisters, Betty Long and Nadine Branch, both Rogue River; and three grandchildren.
