Elynor C. Foltz
November 6, 1932 - February 23, 2005
Elynor C. Foltz, 72, of Scio died Feb. 23.
She was born in Lancaster, Calif. She moved to the Jordan/Scio area at the age of 14 and graduated from Scio High School. She worked for many years as a receptionist at different businesses, retiring from Dr. Klass’ office. While working full-time, she also worked part-time as the clerk for the Lourdes School District 124 for 21 years.
She was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, National Catholic Society of Foresters and Christian Mothers. She was also a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, where she was very involved with the annual Jordan Chicken Dinner. She enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, raising boxer dogs and cows, and helping her husband restore old tractors, cats and jeeps, which led her to memberships in several antique trucker associations.
Survivors include her husband, Darrel, whom she married
on Feb. 16, 1952; sons, Don and Denny of Scio, Doug of Aumsville and Leonard of Monmouth; daughter, Cindy Lackner of Scio; brothers, Bernie Holt of Waldport, and Ken and Leland Holt of Corvallis; sisters, Joanne Brooke of West Sacramento, Calif., and Chris Holt of Baker City; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Jordan. Interment was at Jordan Pioneer cemetery. Remembrances: Right to Life, Alzheimer’s Association or Safehaven Humane Society, Albany. Arrangements: Weddle Funeral Home, Stayton.
Lillian M. Ward
September 2, 1922 - November 24, 2005
Lillian M. Ward, 83, of Turner died Nov. 24, 2005.
She was born in Mississippi. She drove school bus for Cascade School District for about five years.
She married
Kermit in 1955 in Corvallis. He preceded her in death in 1990.
She enjoyed reading, puzzles, latch work and gardening.
Survivors include her sons, Larry Hill, Roger Ward and Ron Ward, all of Turner; and daughter, Penny Fox of Eureka, Calif.
A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Feb. 8 at Weddle Funeral Home, 1777 N. Third Ave., Stayton. Private interment was at Lone Oak cemetery, Stayton. Remembrances: Special Olympics or Humane Society.
Bonnie J. Goforth
July 28, 1935 - January 27, 2006
Bonnie J. Goforth, 70, of Salem died Jan. 27.
She was born in Ralls, Texas, to W.B. and Mary (Shockley) Williams. As a young girl, she moved with her family to the Vancouver, Wash., area. She later lived in Lowell, Ore. After her schooling, she moved to Chicago, Ill., where she worked as sales representative for the Industrial Tool Industry. She later returned to Tigard, Ore., in 1978. She retired in 1986.
She married
Delbert Goforth on Feb. 14, 1993, in Salem. They made their home in Salem.
She enjoyed genealogy, reading, history and watching golf.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Survivors include her husband; son, Jock Voelzke of Tualatin; and two grandchildren.
At her request, no services were held. Arrangements: Weddle Funeral Home, Stayton.
Floyd Franklin Lukenbaugh
January 31, 1934 - March 8, 2006
Floyd Franklin Lukenbaugh, 72, of Scio died March 8 at the Veteran Hospital in Portland.
He was born in Scio to Henry and Alfreda (Donovan) Lukenbaugh. He was raised in the Scio area and attended high school in Scio. He entered the U.S. Army in October 1951, and served in the Korean War. He was discharged in October 1954 and returned to Oregon.
He married
Frances Hill on Aug. 8, 1955, in Vancouver, Wash. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005. They resided in Crabtree, Lebanon and Lacomb before settling in Scio. He worked in the lumber industry from 1955 until the closure of Champion Plywood in Lebanon in 1985. He then took a local newspaper delivery route for several years before failing health forced him to retire.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 51. He enjoyed fishing, working on the family farm and playing with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Bob.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Jon of Mill City, Steven and Dale, both of Scio, and David of Mehama; mother, Alfreda of Albany; sisters, Phyllis Elliott of Scio and Ruth Mann of Newport, N.C.; brother, Henry Jr. of Scio; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Richard A. Baltzer
September 11, 1933 - March 9, 2006
Richard A. Baltzer, 72, of Gates died March 9.
He was born in York, Neb. He moved to Salem in 1935 and to Lyons in 1948. He moved back to Salem after serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He moved to Lyons in 1987 and to Gates five years ago. He ran a paving machine for many years.
He was a member of the Union and the Worldwide Church of God. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a devoted father and raised three children by himself.
Survivors include his companion, Carol Blakely of Gates; daughters, Joann and Corrine Jackson, both of Tucson, Ariz.; son, Rick Baltzer of Salem; sister, Marilyn Kuiken of Lyons; grandchildren, Amber, Cody and Levi Jackson, all of Tucson, Ariz., and Ricki Baltzer of Portland.
Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements: North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
Overton R. Bruce
February 11, 1918 - March 7, 2006
Overton R. Bruce, 88, of Sublimity died March 7 at Santiam Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Telephone, Texas, to Walter and Mattie L. (Moore) Bruce. He lived with his family in Telephone until about 1936 when his family moved to the Duncan, Okla., area.
He married
Edith L. Wilson on Jan. 23, 1938, in Duncan. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Oregon. They lived and farmed in the Albany, Sheridan and Jefferson areas. He moved to the Sublimity area in 1945, where he farmed and managed the BrucePak meat company for many years. He retired in 1977. After retiring, he and his wife traveled extensively for many years.
He enjoyed traveling, woodworking, rock hounding, boating and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jerry; and a brother, J.D. Bruce.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Glen Bruce of Sublimity and Donald Bruce of Oregon City; brothers, Frank Bruce of Florence and Paul Bruce of Stayton; sister, Nova Roche of Dayton, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at Foothills Community Church, Stayton. Remembrances: American Heart Association. Arrangements: Weddle Funeral Home, Stayton.
Mary Jill (Uffelman) Vanderbloemen
August 31, 1951 - November 10, 2007
Mary Jill passed away on Nov. 10, after battling an extended illness. She was born to Edward and Margaret Uffelman, the youngest of seven children. Mary Jill was a top junior ski racer in
Oregon and PNSA. She loved horses and the outdoors. She attended Regis High School and graduated from Bend High School in 1969, prior to attending Loretto Heights College in Denver.
Mary Jill married

Vanderbloemen in Welches, Ore., near Mt. Hood, on Aug. 13, 1977. She and her husband lived in Steamboat Springs, Colo. since 1980 where they raised their beloved children.
Mary Jill loved to travel with her family, especially to warm, sunny beaches. She remained an Oregonian at heart.
Survivors include her husband, John; their children, Eric and Lillian; parents, Ned and Margaret Uffelman of Stayton; siblings James Uffelman of Seal Rock, Judy Lenchitsky of Boring, Johanne Samek of Sublimity, Margaret Jean Savage of Portland, John Uffelman of Portland and Joseph Uffelman of Stayton; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass held Nov. 16, at Immaculate Conception, interment at St. Mary’s cemetery. Arrangements by North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
Crystal Rose Harris
July 21, 1975 - November 13, 2007
Crystal Harris, 32, of Aumsville, died Nov. 13, of a diabetic coma. Born in Bakersfield, Calif., Crystal was a proud, devoted mother to Colton and Mycah Glass, and the longtime companion of Aaron Glass.
Crystal lived in Long Beach, Calif. from 1976-1988. She moved to Lyons then settled in Aumsville with her family. Crystal contracted with CCRLS as a courier driver and was an assistant librarian in Jefferson. She also was a member of Mill City-Gates American Legion Post 159 Women’s Auxiliary.
Crystal enjoyed painting, music, reading, camping, seasons changing, helping others and life.
She is survived by companion Aaron Glass of Aumsville; parents Ron and Brenda Harris of Lyons; daughter Mycah Glass; son Colton Glass both of Aumsville; brother, Leon Dudley of Bakersfield, Calif.; sisters Stacey Harris of Salem, Rhonda Hall of Cleveland, Okla., and Jeanette Harlander of Odessa, Texas.
Memorials may be made at any US Bank, Aaron Glass family. A memorial was held Nov. 19, at Mehama Community Church. Arrangements by North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.
Glen Perry Larsen
January 11, 1920 - November 17, 2007
Glen Perry Larsen, 87, passed away at home in Riverside, Idaho Nov. 17.
He was born Jan. 11, 1920 in Blackfoot, Idaho to James Peter Larsen, Jr. and LaVera Fullmer. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo and Gerald; sister, Elva Owens; sons, James and Roger; grandsons, Andy Painter, C.J. Thornton and Cahill Larsen.
He is survived by his wife, LaFay of Riverside, Idaho; five sons, Lloyd (Tina) of Blackhawk, Colo., Kenneth (Barbie) of Turner, Ore., Byron (Alice) of Aumsville, Ore., Dale (Dani) of Stayton, Ore., and Jeff of Salem; four daughters, Alice (Sid) Painter of Pocatello, Idaho, Peggy (David) Wright of St. Anthony, Idaho, Berniece (Rulon) Workman of Prineville, Ore., April Thornton of Aumsville, Ore., and a daughter-in-law, Rosiland (Roger deceased) Larsen of Malin, Ore.; 41 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren with more on the way; and brother, Verl (Irene) Larsen of Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 at the Riverside, Idaho LDS Church.
William Anthony ‘Tall Bill’ Gillett
January 24, 1959 - November 8, 2007
William Anthony ‘Tall Bill’ Gillett, 48, of Stayton passed away on Nov. 8, 2007. He was born Jan. 24, 1959.
Bill, a Stayton resident for 14 years, was known by many and he will be greatly missed.
He was a courageous man, who lived his life purposely, spreading knowledge and comfort to all he knew.
In light of his hardships, he has many achievements. He served the marines honorably in Vietnam, followed by a career in law enforcement.
His friends remember him as a strong and selfless man.
His brother JD described him as the type of person that, “if every door in the world was closed, his would be open.”
We find comfort in knowing he is finally at peace. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten
He was survived by family and friends, JD, Zach, Linda, the Adams/Hawkins Clan, Nichole, Jack, Mary, and many more. For those not mentioned, you know who you are.
