Nell Barrett
Oct. 6, 1919 - Aug. 9, 2004
Nell Barrett, 84, of Albany died Monday.
She was born in Sarepta, Miss., to John Anderson and Cordelia (Hastings) Massey.
Nell went through nurses' training at Houston Hospital in Houston, Miss., and graduated with a registered nurse degree.
She worked at Albany General Hospital as a surgery nurse and retired in 1970.
Nell is survived by her husband of 59 years, James L. Barrett; children Beth Pond of England and Cheryl Falter (John) of Riverside, Calif.; grandsons Jason Pond of Corvallis and Brian Falter of Santa Monica, Calif.; and brother Ray Massey of Alhambra, Calif.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at Willamette Memorial Park. City View Funeral Home in Salem is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions can be made to a charity of the donor's choice or Evergreen Hospice.
Helen St. John
Dec. 13, 1917 — Nov. 30, 2004
Helen St. John was born in Chicago, the daughter of Anthony and Rose Kisla. She grew up and attended schools in Chicago.
Helen joined the Navy in 1942, serving in Oklahoma, San Francisco, Wisconsin and Honolulu. She was one of the first WAVES to be made chief petty officer. She was very proud of her military service and was always supportive of U.S. troops.
Helen met her husband, Robert "Bob" St. John, while stationed in Honolulu. They were married
Feb. 16, 1946 at the Submarine Base Chapel at Pearl Harbor.
After Helen's discharge, they settled in Southern California where they raised their children. They moved to Albany six years ago.
Helen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Bob of Albany; son Bob St. John of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter Lesly Egan of Albany; three granddaughters, and sister Alice Kisla of Chicago.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Edwin, Frank, Anthony Jr., and Chester, and sister Lillian.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Fisher Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. A graveside service with military honors will be at Willamette National cemetery in Portland.

Luise Tetzlaff

Luise Tetzlaff, 76, died Nov. 14.
She was born Luise Schmid in Stuttgart, Germany.
She immigrated to the United States in 1953.
She moved to Astoria in 1968 and to The Dalles in 1989.
Survivors include husband, Alfred Tetzlaff; daughters and sons-in-law Karin and Dan Darwood of Sweet Home and Betty and Vernon Palmrose of Clatskanie; grandchildren Heide Durrett, Heather Leever, Joshua Darwood, Holly Grammon, Kirsten Shannon and Stephanie Palmrose; nine great-grandchildren; and sister Else Ansel of Germany.
Her parents, Ursula and Jakob Schmid, and sister, Hilde Helbig, preceded her in death.

Justice Larry L. Lehman
July 8, 1945 — Dec. 10, 2004
Justice Larry L. Lehman, 59, of Cheyenne, Wyo., died Dec. 10 in Cheyenne.
He was born to Chester and Alrerda Lehman in Iowa and moved to Oregon at age three. He attend school in the Albany area and graduated from Albany High School in 1963 and the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1976.
He was a county judge from March 1985 to March 1988, a district judge from March 1988 to June 1994, justice of the Wyoming Supreme Court from July 1994 to Dec. 2004 and chief justice of the Wyoming Supreme Court from July 1998 to June 2002.
He was a member of the Wyoming State Bar Association.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Lehman of Cheyenne; sons Jason Lehman of Aspen, Colo., and Jesse Laser of the Navel Base in Norfolk, Va.; daughters Lauren Rambo of Cheyenne, Megan Laser and Melissa Laser, both of Riverside, Ill.; brother Leaford Lehman of Albany; sisters Leila Kuhns of Kennewick, Wash., Melva Lehman of Yuma, Ariz., and Clara Moberly of Jefferson; and grandchildren Kayla Rambo and Kaycee Rambo of Cheyenne. His parents preceded him in death.

Zoma Myrlon (Mickey) Brock
Aug. 8, 1921 — Dec. 31, 2004
Zoma Myrlon (Mickey) Brock died Dec. 31.
She was born in Kansas to George Fritz Cunningham and Zoma Cunningham.
Mickey spent her entire life in the service of others. She was an active member of Eastern Star, Red Cross, Eagles, MOCA/Cooties, American Legion, VFW and the Episcopal Church, and was a former member of Gold Star Wives and The Purple Heart. Mickey served her country and fellow people with a lifetime of volunteering. She was patriotic, loving and dignified in everything she did.
Survivors include brothers Bob, Ted and Gary Cunningham. She was preceded in death by brother George F. Cunningham last year, and her loving husband, Emery.
Her beloved children, James F. Brock of Jefferson, Darlene Brock of Albany, and grandchildren Allen Brock, stationed in Iraq, Matt, Tasha and Kira Brock thank all in advance for your comforting prayers.
A service will be at 4 p.m. Monday at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 1730 Hill St. S.E., Albany.
Larry A. Dittmer

Larry A. Dittmer, 61, of Albany died Wednesday at his home.
Larry was born in Albany, the son of Hank and Clara (Kutch) Dittmer. He attended school and graduated from high school in Albany in 1963. He worked for several years at Brand S and at VanPly plywood mills.
Larry enjoyed buying, selling and repairing antiques.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Dittmer of Albany; brother Ron Dittmer of Albany and sister Marilyn Bewley of Albany.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Lebanon IOOF cemetery. Huston-Jost Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Barbara G. Jackson
Jan. 8, 1938 — Nov. 19, 2005
Barbara G. Jackson, 67, of Lebanon died on Saturday at The Oaks Retirement Center in Lebanon.
Barbara was born in San Diego, Calif. She moved from Southern California to the Lebanon area in 1994, where she resided since.
Barbara married
William R. Jackson in Reno, Nev., on July 3, 1961. He preceded her in death on Sept. 29, 1997.
She is survived by son Randy Jackson of Windermere, Fla.

Muriel E. McCormick Shaw
Aug. 28, 1918 - June 22, 2004
Muriel E. McCormick Shaw, 85, of Shedd died Tuesday at Aidan Healthcare of Albany.
She was born in North Albany, to Robert and Lily (Hull) Smith.
Her mother died when she was young and after a period of time, her father remarried
. They later moved to east Albany where she attended Albany schools.
After graduating from Oregon Normal School in 1938, Muriel taught at Golden Valley and Greenback schools.
She married
Robert McCormick in 1940 in Shedd. He died in 1968.
In 1975, she married
Wilbur Shaw. He died in 1998.
Muriel and Robert participated in community, school and church organizations.
She enjoyed substitute teaching at various Linn County and Benton County schools, as well as private tutoring.
She enjoyed being involved with young people and encouraged reading. She had a concern for Christian missions and missionaries.
Muriel was a member of Oakville Willamette United Presbyterian Church and the Women's Missionary Circle. She attended Peoria Bible Church and Yuma Methodist Church. Muriel was a member of Shedd and Oakville community clubs and garden clubs.
She is survived by her sons and their wives, Robert and Margaret McCormick of Shedd, and Timothy and Jyl McCormick of Salem; daughter and her husband, Sharon and Charles Wylie of Marblemount, Wash.; brother Robert Howard of Corvallis; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, and brothers Eston, Lawrence and Harold Smith.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Shedd cemetery. A memorial serivce will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you visit a friend and reminisce or read with them or contribute to the charity of one's choice.

Eleanore Hyman
Nov. 20, 1905 - Aug. 11, 2004
H. Eleanore Hyman, 98, died early Wednesday morning at her home in North Albany.
She was a native San Franciscan, born six months before the great earthquake and fire. Her parents were Daniel and Ellen (Crowin) Twomey, both of whom were natives of County Cork, Ireland.
Eleanore married
William Clotere in 1934 in Reno, Nevada, and they lived all over northern California prior to his death in 1944.
She married
Samuel Hyman in 1946, at Virginia City, Nev., and they made their home in North Hollywood. Mr. Hyman died in 1980, in Santa Clara, Calif.
Eleanore moved to Albany in 1995.
Eleanore was a member of St. Mary's Church, and had been a pioneer in programs for the developmentally disabled since the 1950s.
Survivors include her son, Bill Clotere and daughter-in-law Rae Dean of Albany; daughter Betty Hyman of Corvallis; sister Mary V. Rozzano of Chico, Calif.; grandchildren Billy, Chrissie and Carrie; five great-grandchildren; and a niece and two nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael Twomey and sister Catherine Hughes.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at AAsum Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albany, with the Reverend John Betts as celebrant.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic cemetery in Colma, Calif., with the Rev. Peter Lafferado officiating.
