H. `Bud' Williamson
Feb. 17, 1931 - April 12, 1999
Harold F. "Bud" Williamson, 68, of Independence died Monday.
Born in Monroe, Mr. Williamson was the son of Lloyd and Grace (Becker) Williamson. He moved with his family to Philomath in 1945.
Mr. Williamson worked in area sawmills and logged in the woods until 1952, when he was badly injured in a car accident. After the accident he lived in area nursing homes, including Cedarwood Care Center of Independence.
Surviving are mother Grace of Philomath; brothers Ted of Kings Valley and Jerry and Don, both of Philomath; and sister Lloydene Criswell of Philomath.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Rose Catholic cemetery in Monroe. Father Joe Black will officiate; McHenry Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Herbert Schacher
May 26, 1914 - May 27, 2007
Herbert Schacher, 92, of Sweet Home, died Sunday. He was born to Christ and Rose (Schmidt) Schacher in Baldwin, North Dakota.
Services will be Wednesday, May 30, at 11 am at Gilliland cemetery. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel will be handling the arrangements.
Carlos Raul Yglesias
Sept. 2, 1936 - April 13, 1999
CORVALLIS - Carlos Raul "Punkin" Yglesias, 62, of Corvallis died Tuesday at Good Samaritan Hospital.
He was born in Shreveport, La., the son of Joseph Daniel Yglesias and Conchita Maria (Flores) Yglesias. He joined the Navy on Sept. 22, 1954, and served aboard the USS Philippine Sea. He was discharged in 1958.
He married
Josephine "Mary" McMillian on Aug. 19, 1956.
Mr. Yglesias worked 30 years for Teledyne Wah Chang before retiring.
He is survived by wife Mary; sons Joseph of Corvallis and Donald of Reno, Nev.; daughter Conchita "Connie" Yglesias of Corvallis; brother Georgero Iglesias of Texas; and sister Yolanda Schenck of New York City. There are two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at DeMoss-Durdan Garden Chapel. No services are scheduled at this time.
Trina F. Masanga
March 28, 1959 - April 15, 1999
Trina Familar Masanga, 40, of Albany died Saturday.
Ms. Masanga was born March 28, 1959, in the Philippines. She graduated from West Albany High School and Linn-Benton Community College.
She was in retail and insurance sales before working as a graphic artist. She was also an instructional aide for the Oregon State School for the Deaf and Blind and served on the Oregon State Advisory Council for Vocational Rehabilitation.
Ms. Masanga was an active member of Dever-Conner Community Church and of Overlake Christian Church in Bellevue, Wash.
Survivors include her parents, Bat and Letty Masanga of Albany; sisters Miriam Masanga King of Beaverton, and Keren Masanga of Cornelius; brothers Jordan of Portland, and Enrico of Beaverton; and three nieces and a nephew.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Dever-Conner Community Church.

Robert Gentner Sr.
May 24, 1910 - April 13, 1999
LEBANON - Robert H. Gentner Sr., 88, of Lebanon died Tuesday at Lebanon Community Hospital.
Born in Buffalo, N.Y., he lived in California for many years. He married
Christina Rose June 4, 1935, in Missouri, and they moved to Lebanon in the early 1950s.
Mr. Gentner was a pipe fitter and a certified welder. As owner of Rainbow Rancho trout farm, he raised and sold trout. He belonged to St. Edward's Catholic Church.
Mr. Gentner enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He especially liked helping others.
Surviving are wife Christina; daughters Rose Mary Fiola of Anaheim, Calif., Terri Phillips of Rainier and Cecilia Gentner of Gresham; son Robert Jr. of Lebanon; and 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Edward's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Lebanon IOOF cemetery.
Kesha Mae Lairson
May 19, 1990 - April 12, 1999
Kesha Mae Lairson, 8, of Tangent died Monday at the Oregon Health Sciences University Medical Center.
Kesha was born in Albany to Robert and Wendy Lairson, and lived in the area all her life. She was in the second grade at Tangent Grade School.
Surviving are mother and stepfather Wendy Lairson and Bob Laylon of Tangent; father Robert Lairson of Albany; brother B.J. Wilson of Tangent; sister Starr Wilson of Tangent; and grandmother Willie Bell Lairson of Fall City.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Fisher Funeral Home. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens.
A fund in Kesha Lairson's name has been set up at Citizen's Bank to help the family with expenses.
Kathleen Alice Orr
Dec. 9, 1949 - April 13, 1999
SWEET HOME - Kathleen "Kathy" Alice Orr, 49, of Sweet Home died Tuesday at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene of a cerebral hemorrhage.
She was born in Lebanon and lived in Sweet Home, graduating from Sweet Home High School in 1968.
She married
William R. "Bill" Orr Dec. 28, 1970, in Reno, Nev.
Mrs. Orr worked for the last six years for Frontier Coin & Jewelry.
She belonged to the Cornerstone Fellowship and volunteered in many of the church's activities. She was a volunteer for the Sweet Home Public Library's literacy program.
She had coached a tee ball, liked swimming and walking and was a voracious reader. She especially enjoyed her family.
Mrs. Orr gave regularly at Red Cross blood drives before she was diagnosed with melanoma.
Surviving are husband Bill; son Jeremy of Sweet Home; daughter Jill Orr of Albany; grandson Dalton Orr; parents Melvin and Wanda (Coulter) Miner of Sweet Home; brothers Larry and Randy Miner, both of Sweet Home; sisters Janice Powell of Oakridge and Lisa McCubbins of West Linn; and 12 nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Orr's funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sweet Home Mennonite Church, with Pastor Randy Freeman officiating. Burial will be at Gilliland cemetery.

Valerie Jean Pearen
Nov. 10, 1952 - April 9, 1999
PHILOMATH - Valerie Jean Pearen, 46, of Philomath died Friday at home.
She was born in Fairfield, Calif., to Stanley and Freida Lee (Hoover) Pearse. She earned a degree in parks and recreation from Eastern Illinois University.
She moved to Philomath 16 years ago, and married
Jim Pearen March 30, 1991, in Adair Village.
Mrs. Pearen was a hairstylist and co-owner of Northwest Hairlines of Corvallis. She especially enjoyed hiking with her dogs in the countryside and along the Oregon coast.
She also liked reading, sewing, quilting and gardening.
Surviving are husband Jim of Philomath; stepson Keith Pearen of Corvallis; father Stan Pearse of Midlothian, Va.; and brothers Steve Pearse of Victoria, British Columbia, and Mike Pearse of Midlothian, Va.
A celebration of Mrs. Pearen's life will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Adair Village Officers Club.

Bernerd N. Tallman
July 6, 1913 - April 12, 1999
CORVALLIS - Bernerd Newton Tallman, 85, of Corvallis died Monday.
Mr. Tallman was born and lived all his life in Corvallis. His parents were Percy and Pearl (Newton) Tallman.
He graduated from Corvallis High School in 1933 and worked most of his life for the Corvallis Fire Department. He retired as a captain in the department in 1973.
Mr. Tallman belonged to the Corvallis Elks Lodge.
He is survived by son John of Corvallis. Jewell, his wife of 45 years, died in 1993.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at McHenry Funeral Home. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Crystal Lake cemetery, with rites by the Corvallis Elks Lodge Ritual Team. The Corvallis Fire Department Honor Guard will also participate in the service.

Bernard R. Bolf
Sept. 14, 1917 - April 9, 1999
LEBANON - Bernard R. Bolf, 81, of Lebanon died Friday of injuries received in a car-pedestrian accident Tuesday in Lebanon.
He was born in Rogers, Texas, to Paul and Agnes (Sasin) Bolf, and moved with the family to a Lebanon-area farm in 1920. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1935.
Mr. Bolf moved to Portland and worked in the Clark and Wilson sawmill until 1941. He worked for the main post office in Portland from 1941 until 1942 and from 1945 until 1951. He was a mail carrier in Lebanon from 1951 until 1973.
He served in the Army with the 607th Tank Destroyer Battalion during World War II, including in England and France. He was wounded in action and received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart medals.
He married
Lillie Urubek on Dec. 19, 1942, while in the Army stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. She died in 1972. He married
Alice R. Clark on Aug. 27, 1983, in Lebanon.
Mr. Bolf belonged to the Lebanon American Legion Post, St. Edward's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a past board chairman and member for St. Edward's Catholic School.
Surviving are wife Alice; daughter Betty Walls of Lebanon; sons Ken of Lebanon, Frank and Harold "Bernie," both of Albany, and Ron of Libertyville, Ill.; stepchildren Jim Clark of Eugene and Michelle Clark of Australia; and 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Five brothers and two sisters died earlier.
Viewing will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today followed by recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. today at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with Father Paul Maher officiating. Burial will be at the Lebanon IOOF cemetery, with military rites by the Lebanon American Legion Post.

Nancy Macpherson
Jan. 9, 1930 - April 10, 1999
Nancy Anne Macpherson, 69, of Albany died Saturday at home.
She was born and grew up in Portland, the daughter of Roy and Elizabeth (Small) Mollett, and she lived there until 1970. She had lived in Lebanon and Albany since.
Mrs. Macpherson had worked in insurance in Portland and worked for Wilson Insurance (now Unified Insurance) in Albany.
She was a past member of Mt. Scott Presbyterian Church in Portland and belonged to several historical and genealogical societies. She enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are brothers Roy Mollett of Portland and Donald Mollett of Anchorage, Alaska; and sisters Louise Davis of Tigard and Charlotte Close of West Linn.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, at Fisher Funeral Home. Private entombment will be at Lincoln Memorial Mausoleum in Portland.

Jay Gordon Rector, Jr.
April 13, 1957 - May 19, 2007
Jay Gordon Rector, Jr., 50, of Sweet Home, Oregon died Friday, May 18, 2007.
Jay's parents were from New York and came west before he was born. Jay was born on April 13, 1957 in Torrance, California, the son of Jay Gordon and Doris Irma (Carlson) Rector, Sr. He grew up in California attending school until moving to the Sweet Home area when he was 15. Jay worked for the City of Sweet Home Public Works Deptartment for 27 years. He was Public Employee of the Year two times. Jay really enjoyed his job and the people he worked with.
Jay enjoyed working on his farm equipment and trucks, and taking care of his pets and cows.
He is survived by his mother, Doris Rector, of Sweet Home; best friend, “Romeo,” his dog; and cousins. His father, Jay Gordon Rector, Sr., preceded him in death.
A viewing will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 Tuesday at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
