Melville Robert ''Bud'' Halsey, Jr. was born August 31, 1935 in Albany, Oregon, the son of Melville Robert and Alice S. (Sheler) Halsey, Sr. He attended Albany High School, Oregon State College and Cascade College in Portland. He served for a short time with the U.S. Navy, then returned to Albany.
Bud worked for Veals' Furniture Manufacturing, the Hobby Shop, and most recently as a Security Guard.
He was a member of the First Evangelical Church. He enjoyed camping in the Steens Mountains and doing restoration projects on steam engines in that area. He loved classical music and had a detailed knowledge of the history of World War I and World War II.
He is survived by his step-mother, Edna Halsey of Albany, his sister and brother-in-law, Pastor Victor and Elizabeth Slaughter of Vancouver, Washington, his step-brothers, Merlin Schweitzer of Gresham and David Schweitzer of Vancouver, Washington, 6 nieces and nephews and 9 great-nieces & nephews.
Memorial Services will be held at Fisher Funeral Home at 10:00am, Wednesday, October 22. Private interment at Willamette Memorial Park.

Merill ''Butch'' Johnson was born May 20, 1938 in Weippe, Idaho, the son of Clyde and Ruby (Farrence) Johnson. He grew up and attended school in Kamiah, Idaho. He worked in local sawmills and logging at a young age. His adventurous sales career took him and his family to many areas of the United States and Canada.
A true outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and to cut wood. He is remembered by his family as a genuine and hardworking man who showed unconditional love. He was a green-thumb gardener.

JoAnn Neglay on June 9, 1956 in Kamiah, Idaho.
She survives, of Albany. He is also survived by his children, Mike Johnson of Lebanon, Donna O'Neill of Spokane, Washington, Deborah Zank of Vancouver, Washington, and Mark Johnson of Crow, Oregon, 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, his brothers, Darrel Johnson of Clarkston, Washington, Arlen Johnson of Seabeck, Washington and Rodney Johnson of Lewiston, Idaho, and his sisters, Mary Wright of Bellingham, Washington and Melinda Livingston of Arlington, Texas.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, October 21, 2003, at Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington, Albany, Oregon.
William Lyle Bagley

William Lyle Bagley was born February 7, 1923 in Mt. Ayr, Iowa, the son of Orva Samuel and Mary Dessie (Lyles) Bagley. He lived in Iowa until moving to Alsea, Oregon in 1938. He finished high school in Shedd.
William married
Anna Duncan on September 7, 1941 in Shedd. They were the last couple married
in the Presbyterian Church of Shedd and were married
almost 63 years.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1944 and was in the invasion on Okinawa as part of the 96th Infantry Division. He moved to Albany upon his discharge and worked for 41 years for M & M Plywood, which became Simpson Plywood. He retired in 1981 and moved to Halsey to his wife's family's homestead.
He was a member of the Oakville Willamette United Presbyterian Church and the VFW. He enjoyed gardening and his cattle. He was a hobby farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Bagley, of Halsey, his son, Floyd Bagley of Redmond, Washington, 2 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianna Scharpf, his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.
Visitation will be at Fisher Funeral Home from 5-8pm, Wednesday, August 11. Services will be held at Oakville Willamette United Presbyterian Church at 11:00am, Thursday, August 12, with committal services at Willamette Memorial Park with Military Honors. Pastor John Carpenter will officiate. Contributions may be made to the Church Building Fund, c/o Fisher Funeral Home.

Vivian Alice Freerksen was born February 8, 1914 in Markesan, Wisconsin, the daughter of Clifford and Nellie (Minnick) Shaw.
She moved to Albany in the 1920's.
Vivian married
William Freerksen on September 20, 1933 in Albany. They operated the family farm. He preceded her in death on December 18, 1957.
She was a cook for the the OSU football team in the late 1960's - early 1970's. She was a 4-H leader for over 35 years.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Penny Freerksen of Albany, her daughter and son-in-law, Lorrene and Bob Montgomery of Lexington, 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, and her brother, Elwyn Shaw of Albany.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William and her caring companion, Glenn Trumbly who died in 2000.
Memorial Services will be held at Fisher Funeral Home at 1:00pm, Tuesday, August 10, 2004.

John Constantine Aliman

John died Friday, March 11, in Albany. He was born November 16, 1943 in Romania, the son of Constantine and Ecaterina (Lozneamu) Aliman. He grew up in Romania. He served in the Romanian Army. He graduated from college and moved to the United States at 25 years of age.
John married
Iedidia Popovici on September 4, 1969 in Vienna, Austria. They lived in Chicago for 4 years before moving to Los Angeles, California in 1973. They moved to Albany, Oregon August 9, 2004.
John was an electrical engineer. He was a member of the Baptist Church and attended Eastside Christian Church in Albany.
He is survived by his wife, Iedidia Aliman of Albany, daughters, Monica Aliman of Albany, Adela Aliman of San Jose, CA, Christina Aliman of Tempe, AZ, and Melanie Aliman of Lynwood, CA, granddaughter, Talia Rose Rodriguez, and sister, Claudia of Ledera Heights, CA.
Graveside services will be held at El Toro Memorial Park in Lake Forest, California.

Phyllis was born in Bellfountain, Oregon, the daughter of John and Ethel (Thomas) Carrick. She was a lifelong area resident, attended Albany schools and graduated from Albany High School in 1952.
Phyllis married
John Burrus on April 19, 1952 in Reno, Nevada.
She was a floral designer and worked at Vollstedt's Green Thumb and for Tom's Garden Center for a time.
Phyllis was a member of South Albany Community Church, where she babysat Thursdaya during Bible Studies and was involved with Apples of Gold Mentoring Program at the church. She volunteered with the SMART Program at Periwinkle School up until the time of her illness. Her specialty was baking cookies, both for church activities and for the SMART Program.
She is survived by her husband, John Burrus of Albany, daughter Karen Hutchison of Salem, 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, with a 3rd expected in April. She was preceded in death by her son, John ''Mike'' Burrus on November 7, 1986, her parents, and 1 brother and 1 sister.
Memorial services will be held at South Albany Community Church at 10:30am, Monday, February 28, 2005. Contributions may be made to Samaritan Evergreen Hospice, c/o Fisher Funeral Home.

Bert was born in Albany, the son of Jacob Willard and Grace (Bodley) Chambers. He was a descendant of Matthew Chambers, whose family settled on a farm in Knox Butte in 1866.

Ruth McCleary on May 18, 1940 in Albany.
They lived on the family's Century Farm and Bert farmed until 10 years ago when he retired.
At that time he and his wife moved into Albany.
He was a member of the First Christian Church. He enjoyed taking short trips to the coast and was involved in square dancing.
Bert is survived by his wife, Ruth Chambers, of Albany, daughters, Elaine Scheeland of Portland and Janet Rach of Keizer, 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Michelle Rach, brothers, Leland and Ralph Chambers and sister, Helen Chrisman.

He worked as a finishing carpenter remodeling homes. He was a member of Eastside Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He loved his children and grandchildren. He was a man who did what he wanted.
Carl is survived by his children, John Chladek, Jim Chladek and Janice Chladek, all of Albany, 4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He worked as a Certified Public Accountant. He retired and moved to Albany in 1990. He loved his computer, programming work as a hobby. He loved sports, especially baseball.
Robert is survived by his wife, Helene, of Albany, daughter, Debbie Hallett of Albany, 1 grandchild, 3 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren.

Gary David Russell was born October 6, 1956 in Riverside, California, the son of James and Nettie (Vires) Russell. He grew up in Riverside, California until the age of 10 when his family moved to the Salem area. He has lived in Oregon since then.
He had worked as a mechanic. He collected cars and tools. He enjoyed tearing down cars and restoring them back to their original condition.
Gary is survived by his son, David Ray Russell of Salem, his daughter, Tiffany Gox of Albany, 1 grandchild, his long-time companion and friend, Karen Rowton of Salem, his brothers, Steve Russell and Mike Russell, both of Ohio, his half-brothers, Darrell North and Howard North, both of Cincinnati, Ohio and Herbert Vires of Redding, California, and his sisters, Sandra Skelton of Albany, Kethleen Russell of Redding, California and Monica Korst of Chaska, Minnesota.
At his request, no services will be held.
