Bart `Roy' Swanson
Feb. 12, 1938 - March 3, 1999
LEBANON - Bart Roy Swanson, 61, of Lebanon, died Tuesday at Lebanon Community Hospital.
He was born in New Castle, Okla., to Traymon and Claire (Peterson) Swanson. The family moved to Corvallis in 1944.
He married
Sherry Hensman July 17, 1972.
For 25 years, Mr. Swanson was a millwright for Smurfit Newsprint in Philomath. He retired in May of 1997, because of a disability. He enjoyed hunting, reading and working puzzles.
Surviving are wife Sherry; sons Steven of Albany, Michael of Independence and Bart of Salem; daughters Cathy Weeks of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Elaine Wall of Salem; and seven grandchildren.
He is also survived by brothers Burton of Albany, Allen of Gig Harbor, Wash., Glenn of Old Town, Idaho, James and Charles, both of Lebanon and Wayne of Haines; and sisters Melva Robinson of Lebanon, Minnie Reimer and Mary Walter, both of Millersburg, and Marie Cruz, Eunice Leard, Faye Reimer and Frances March, all of Albany.
Daughter Shelia died in 1992.
Viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Mr. Swanson's funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Keith Bentley
July 9, 1953 - March 2, 1999
SWEET HOME - Keith Bentley, 45, of Sweet Home, died Tuesday at Lebanon Community Hospital.
He was born in Hanford, Calif., the son of Herbert and Phyllis (Meyer) Bentley. He grew up in California, where he graduated with honors from Avenal High School in 1971. He participated in football, basketball and track.
He earned an athletic scholarship to Coalinga College, where he studied business administration. Mr. Bentley lived in Oakdale, Calif., before moving to Sweet Home last year.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and spending time outdoors.
Surviving are companion Lynne Ehle of Sweet Home; son Joshua of Coalinga, Calif.; mother Phyllis Bentley of Riverbank, Calif.; brothers Bob and Lonnie, both of Medford; twin sister Nora Lee Smith of Lebanon; and sisters Pamela Cropper of Florence and Karin Frings of Oakdale, Calif.
A memorial service, to be held in California, will be scheduled later. Huston-Jost Funeral home of Lebanon is handling arrangements.
Wayne E. Dunston
Dec. 6, 1939 - Feb. 27, 1999
LEBANON - Wayne Eugene Dunston, 59, of Lebanon died Saturday.
He was born in Rossmoyne, Ohio, and served 20 years in the Navy, retiring as a chief machinist mate.
Mr. Dunston was a civil service worker in San Diego before retiring in 1993. He and his family moved to Lebanon.
He belonged to the Lebanon Elks Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. A NASCAR fan who especially enjoyed restoring classic Chevys, he was a past secretary of the Rollin' Oldies, a car club. He also liked to fish.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Barbara. Also surviving are sons Mike and Matt, daughter Jennifer, and grandson Shilo Wayne, all of Lebanon; and sons Raymond and Robert and daughters Sandi and Mary, and 10 grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter, all of Arizona.
A memorial service for Mr. Dunston will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Lebanon American Legion Hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Lebanon Community Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 739, Lebanon, Ore. 97355.
Frances Gay Straw
Former Albany resident Frances Gay Straw, 68, of Blue Springs, Mo., died Monday at home.
She graduated from Ogden Meadows High School in Vancouver, Wash., in 1948, the year that she married
Arlie "Ray" Straw. They lived in Albany, and he died in 1987.
Mrs. Straw worked for 15 years in Corvallis for Hewlett-Packard Co.
Surviving are daughter Colleen Hurley and grandson Joey Hurley, both of Blue Springs, Mo. Daughter Frances Marie Straw died in 1959.
Private, family services are planned. Kansas City Funeral Directors is handling arrangements.

Robert G. Shaver

Robert G. Shaver, 85, of Sweet Home, died early Tuseday morning at his home. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
Ollie Elesa Wilcox
Dec. 5, 1914 - March 3, 1999
LEBANON - Former Lebanon resident Ollie Elesa (Davis) Wilcox, 84, of Layton, Utah, died Wednesday at home.
She was born in Sugar City, Idaho, to Frank and Alvaretta (Harmon) Davis. She married
Adrian L. Wilcox May 12, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They lived in Rexburg, Idaho, before moving to Lebanon in 1950. Mr. Wilcox died in 1989, and Mrs. Wilcox moved to Layton in 1991.
She belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Surviving are sons Adrian of Lebanon and Kent of Redmond; daughters Judy Bell of Layton, Utah, Leslie Bird of Ucon, Idaho, brothers Guy Davis of Hemet, Calif., and Kay Davis of Idaho Falls, Idaho; and sisters Rowena Lee of Camp Verde, Ariz. and Phyllis Maulsby of Santa Ana, Calif.
Son Craig died earlier.
Mrs. Wilcox's funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Kays Creek Stake Center in Layton, with Dan Bell officiating. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lindquist Layton Mortuary and from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Monday at the stake center.
Burial will be at the Lebanon IOOF cemetery.
Roger Blanshan
April 19, 1948 - April 28, 1999
LEBANON - Roger "Rogie" Blanshan, 51, of Lebanon died Wednesday at Lebanon Community Hospital.
Mr. Blanshan was born in Windom, Minn., to Raymond and Geneva (Gravley) Blanshan. He lived in Lebanon with his parents and was a special part of his family.
He liked gardening. Balloons and holidays were among his favorite things, and he was especially fond of his nieces and nephews.
Surviving are mother Geneva Blanshan of Lebanon; brothers Charles, Dale, Matt and Don, all of Lebanon; sisters Ruth Ann Swanson and Susan Mack, both of Lebanon, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home. Mr. Blanshan's funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Ron Hotrum officiating. Burial will be at the Lebanon IOOF cemetery.
Baby Bryce Miller
April 28, 1999
Baby Bryce Miller was stillborn Wednesday at Lebanon Community Hospital. He was the son of Charles and Shari (Parker) Miller of Sweet Home.
Surviving besides his parents are brother Dustin Miller-Parker of Lebanon; sister Kaytlyn Miller of Sweet Home; grandparents Dave and Mary Parker of Lebanon and Larry and Nancy Miller of Culver; great-grandparents Sam and Irene Parker of Sweet Home, Elizabeth Miller-Shafer of Salem, Bob Shafer of Salem and Ellen and LeRoy Jeffries of Lebanon; and aunts and uncles Shelly and Tye Caudill of Sweet Home, Kim and William Greiner of Jefferson and Jason Miller of Madras.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Lewis cemetery in Sweet Home. Huston-Jost Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Arvid H. Palki
Jan. 1, 1916 - April 28, 1999
SWEET HOME - Arvid H. Palki, 83, of Sweet Home died Wednesday at Lebanon Community Hospital.
He was born in Highbridge, Wis., the son of Tuomas and Anna (Niskonen) Ylipalkki. He grew up in Highbridge and in Swan River, Minn.
He was married
Sept. 17, 1939, in Grand Rapids, Minn. He and wife Dora moved to Fort Bragg, Calif., so he could work in the shipyards in the mid-1940s.
They lived in Cottage Grove for 25 years, where he was a timber faller, and in Idleyld Park for eight years where he belonged to the Umpqua Fisherman's Association. His wife died in 1998.
Mr. Palki moved to Sweet Home a month ago.
He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, gardening and camping at Crane Prairie Reservoir. He also liked to spend time with his family, be outdoors and laugh.
Surviving are daughters Cathleen Byers of Concord, Calif., Becky Palki-Pennington of Deltona, Fla.; Leah Be of Lakewood, Colo., and Kay Owen of Cottage Grove; son David Palki of Veneta; brothers Phillip Palkki of Sweet Home and Matt Palkki of Ishpaming, Mich.; sister Olga Saarela of Salem; 17 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Son Garry Palki and daughters Gladys Gagliano and Colleen Palki died before he did.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Huston-Jost Funeral Home in Lebanon, with Pastor Dave Tuomi officiating.

Hallie `Polly' Rubens
Sept. 19, 1928 - April 26, 1999
Former Albany resident Hallie Paulene "Polly" Rubens of Apache Junction, Ariz., died Monday in Mesa, Ariz.
She was born to William and Edna Hill in Ash Grove, Mo. She married
Francis H. "Frank" Rubens June 19, 1948, and he died before she did.
Mrs. Rubens lived many years in Albany. She retired in 1990 and moved to Apache Junction five years ago.
Surviving are children Sandra Birmingham, Brent Rubens and Brett Rubens, all of Phoenix, Ariz., Mike Rubens of Bend and Dena Bidwell of Albany; sisters Martha Leitzel of Massachusetts, Betty Herrera of Nevada and Nellie Davis of Oregon; brother Bill Hill of Oregon; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sister Arlene Sullivan.
Howard T. Clark
Feb. 26, 1921 - April 28, 1999
AUMSVILLE - Howard T. Clark, 78, of Aumsville died Wednesday.
Mr. Clark was born in Fort Scott, Kan., and moved to the Willamette Valley in 1933. He married
Grace McCoy Dec. 18, 1941.
Besides serving with the Army 70th Infantry Division during World War II, Mr. Clark was a millworker for 30 years for National Wood Industries.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking and took part in rodeos in his youth.
Surviving are wife Grace; son Gerald "Jerry" of Salem; daughters Marilyn Newburn of Lebanon and Melba Davidson of Detroit; and sisters Lovena Stain of Halsey, Dorris Karg of Aumsville and Joyce Bolton of Tigard. There are nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Son H. Darrel Clark died in 1978.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Friday at Weddle Funeral Home in Stayton. At Mr. Clark's request, there will be no services. Burial will be at the Marion Friends cemetery in Marion.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
James W. Renouf
March 14, 1921 - April 27, 1999
Former Linn County resident James Wayne Renouf, 78, of Medford died Tuesday at Hearthstone Manor Care Center.
He was born in Los Angeles and served in the Navy during World War II. He lived many years in Albany and Lebanon before moving to Medford in 1997.
Mr. Renouf had worked in radiator repair shops and later was in sales in the trucking industry. He belonged to the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He liked fishing and working with his hands.
Surviving are daughters Linda Mae Smith of Crabtree and Winnie Moses of Eagle Point; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Eagle Point National cemetery, 2763 Riley Road, Eagle Point. Elder George White of the Shady Point Seventh-day Adventist Church will officiate. Perl Funeral Services of Medford is handling arrangements.
Frances Ellen Robertson
January 28, 1916 - August 21, 2007
Frances Ellen Robertson, age 91, of Sweet Home, died Tuesday. She was born to Byron and Nellie (Scheiler) Hutchins in Jefferson, Oregon. She married
Earl Robertson on July 30, 1937 in Stevens, Washington. They then moved to Sweet Home in 1941.
She lived in and around Sweet Home most of her life. Frances worked for Robertson Feed and Seed for several years. She loved to fish, hunt, and travel.
Frances is survived by a son, Leroy Robertson, and his wife, Jewell, of Sweet Home; a daughter, Lois Kerns, and her husband, Arthur, of Eugene; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Robertson; a sister, A. Marie Robertson; and two brothers, Raymond and Paul Hutchins.
Viewing will take place Thursday, August 23, from 2:00-7:00 pm. A graveside service at Gilliland cemetery will be held Friday, August 24, at 10:00 am. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling arrangements.
