Margery Fisher was born July 28, 1914, in Great Falls, Montana. She married Herbert Thureson in 1937. The couple moved to Portland in 1940. She was a homemaker, a member of the church, and altar guild, chior singer and volunteer driver for Loaves & Fishes.
Survivors include Emily S. Reed, Ilene E. Robertson, and Glenn H. Thureson, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Remembrances to Northwest Medical Teams. Arrangements by Farnstrom-Gable Funeral Chapel.

Diana R. Parks of Monmouth, Oregon (Formerly of Newport) passed away Saturday January 28th, 2006 at 8:51 am. Diana Ruth Parks our beloved mom, daughter, grandmother, sister, great grandmother, Aunt, Mother in Law, sister in law and best friend went to be with her lord and savior, and to join the love her life Bill. Her battle with rheumatoid arthritis gallantly fought. She will be forever missed by her children Dodie & Bill Turnbull of Siletz, Pamela & Phil Yarnell of Monmouth, Skip Parks of Seal Rock. Grandchildren Diana & James Warren of Monmouth, Russell McKenzie of Salem, Oregon, Christian Garbarino of Portland, her Mama and Papa Frank and Glenna Creasy of Toledo, Oregon. Sister Caroline of Oklahoma, brother John of Toledo, half sister Llewelen of Oklahoma and many other family members and friends. She loved and cared deeply for.
Her children and grandchildren were at her bedside at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis at her passing.
Celebration of Life Service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday February 11th, 2006 at the Toledo Elks Lodge in Toledo, Oregon.

Geneva M. Bunse

Geneva M. Bunse of Monmouth, Oregon passed away January 29th at the age of 95. She was born in Seattle, Washington on December 29, 1910. She moved with her family to the town of Navajo in the eastern part of Montana in the early 1920's. After a short time the family settled in Flaxville, Montana where her father ran a general store. One of four in her senior class she graduated high school in 1930.
She married Clayton Archibald Bunse on July 11, 1932. They has two sons while still living in Flaxville,. Work in the shipyards of the San Francisco bay area drew the family to Vallejo, California in 1943. They had a third son before moving to Salem, Oregon where Clayton was employed as an electrician. Geneva worked for more than fifteen years as a cook for the Salem School District.
Geneva was kind and generous and never stopped nurturing and sustaining relationships with friends, neighbors and community. She was an excellent cook and loved sharing recipes and food. She enjoyed basketball and crocheting. She was devoted to family and some years ago one of her granddaughters wrote that Geneva 'always seems happy and she miles a lot. And she is really soft, inside and out and very polite.'
Geneva Bunse is survived by Richard, Carol, Robin and Marta Bunse of Monmouth, Oregon. Dale Bunse of Otis, Oregon Loie Bunse of Newport, Oregon Meta Bunse of Woodland, CA. Garth and Wendy Bunse of Burlingame, CA.
A Memorial Service will be 2:30 PM Thursday Feb. 9th at Monmouth Christ Church in Monmouth.

Ethel C. Whitehouse
Born in Union Hill, New Jersey on Nov. 21, 1915
Departed on Jan. 31, 2006 and resided in Monmouth, OR.
Ethel C. Whitehouse of Monmouth, Oregon died January 31, 2006 at her home in Monmouth, Oregon she was 90 years old.
Born November 21, 1915 in Union Hill, New Jersey to Leopold and Eva Gledhill Borloz.
Lived in Red Bluff, California prior to moving to Monmouth, Oregon.
At her request no services will be held.

Birdie Marie Umathum
Born in Kansas on Apr. 9, 1919
Departed on Feb. 2, 2006 and resided in Vancouver, WA.
Birdie Marie Umathum passed away on February 2, 2006 in Vancouver, Washington. She was born in Kansas on April 9, 1919 but always insisted she was 39 years old.
Birdie retired after many years of service at Armour's and Swift's. She loved fishing, square dancing, and traveling with her best friend and companion, Al Hensley. They spent 16 wonderful years fishing local lakes and volunteering at numerous campgrounds around the US.
She is preceded in death by Frank Umathum Sr. and daughter Bette Brown.
She leaves behind Al Hensley, son, Frank Umathum, brother, Glenn Haines, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She lived for her kids and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Virginia Lucille Hanna
Born in Elizabethan, Tenn. on Nov. 13, 1921
Departed on Feb. 4, 2006 and resided in Monmouth, OR.

Virginia Lucille 'Lucy' Hanna
November 13, 1921 ~ February 4, 2006
Lucille 'Lucy' Hanna of Monmouth, Oregon passed away Saturday February 4, 2006 in Albany, Oregon after a furious battle with cancer.
Born November 13, 1921 in Johnston County, Tennessee. Moved to Oregon as a little Girl. Met Raymond Hanna at Independence High School, they married October 15, 1941. Ray passed away December 2, 1986. Lucy worked ten years for Fischer's Market in Monmouth, then thirteen years for Central School District as a cook, retiring in 1987. She enjoyed visiting and being with her many dear friends, cooking and hosting family gatherings, making sure everyone had enough to eat.
Lucy leaves behind a son Ken Hanna of Minn. Daughter Linda Smith of Albany, three sisters and five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Lucy (Mom) will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday 10:00 am at Farnstrom Mortuary, Independence.
Reception following funeral service at Farnstrom Mortuary.
Graveside Service will be 12:30 pm at Restlawn Memory Gardens in Salem.

MARCIA MILNOR SMITH
Marcia Smith was born on April 19, 1938, and passed on December 9, 2015, with her daughter Carlene by her side. Carlene cared for her mother before her passing.
Marcia and her family made Lincoln City their home in 1985. She enjoyed spending time with family, movies, playing Scrabble and nature watching. Marcia was an accomplished artist and painted some gorgeous watercolors. She worked many years with senior services and touched everyone who knew her with her graciousness, compassion and upbeat attitude towards life.
She is survived by her daughters, Terri Imel and Carlene Moffitt. Grandchildren,Shannon Dzbanko, and Matthew (Desiree) Clausing. Great-grandchildren, Divine and Serenity. She also had a foster daughter, Debbie Russell.
No services scheduled. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Maurice Oliver Farnstrom
Born in Bozeman, Montana on Jan. 11, 1950
Departed on Apr. 11, 2006 and resided in Independence, OR.

Maury Farnstrom, 56, of Independence, Oregon died April 11, 2006 in his home of pneumonia after a long courageous battle with multiple sclerosis.
Maury was an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, where he was the Exulted Ruler for Independence Lodge #1950. He then went onto be District Deputy Grand Exulted Rule for Oregon North Central District. He is a past board member of M.I.K.I. and Central High School Panther Club President. Maury was also a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Monmouth.
His hobbies included, traveling, cars, basketball , but most of all he enjoyed his work.
Maury was preceded in death by his father Maurice Farnstrom in 1952 and his sister Clarice Patyten in 1989.
Survivors include:
Wife Starla Farnstrom of Independence, Oregon
Sons Alexander Farnstrom and his wife Misty of Sandy, Oregon
Benjamin Farnstrom and his wife Kelly of Monmouth, Oregon
Mother Bernice Paterson of Tualatin, Oregon
Brother Eugene Farnstrom of Beaverton, Oregon
Granddaughter Nicole Farnstrom of Sandy, Oregon
Memorial contributions can be made to the Central High School Panther Club, in care of Farnstrom Mortuary, 410 Monmouth Street, Independence, Oregon 97351.
A Funeral service will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 14, 2006 at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Independence, Oregon. Vault interment will follow at Hilltop cemetery in Independence, Oregon. Arrangements are under the direction of Farnstrom Mortuary, Independence, Oregon and City View Funeral Home, Salem, Oregon.
