Myrtle M. Loveall
Myrtle Marie Loveall, age 74, died August 12, 2001, at home in Nash-ille, Ore.
She was born May 31, 1927, in Stayton to Michael and Nellie Laskie Gassner, and later moved to Nashville in Lincoln County. There she met William Loveall and they were married June 10, 1943, in the Benton County Courthouse.
Myrtle was a school bus driver for Lincoln County School District for 23 years. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds and traveling to Hong Kong, Alaska and other areas.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Siletz.
Two brothers, Richard and Albert, and two sisters, Helen Renfrow and Lilian Hays, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, William of Nashville, a son, Gary of Toledo, and a daughter, Dianna Rorie of Chitwood.
A graveside service inurnment will be held at noon Friday, Aug. 17, at Summit cemetery, Pastor theron Craft officiating.. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Siletz.
McHenry Funeral Home of Corvallis is in charge of arrangements.
Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in care of McHenry Funeral Home, 206 NW 5th, Corvallis, Ore. 97330.

Claude M. Anders
Claude M. "Andy" Anders, 80, died Aug. 31, 2001 in his Salem home.
He was born Aug. 19, 1921 in Spokane, Wash. He married Elaine Lois Johnson in 1942 and they had four children.
During World War II Andy served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in Central and South America. In his career with the U.S. Air Force from 1948 until retirement in 1962, he served in Europe and the U.S. with the Strategic Air Command.
Andy and his wife spent their retirement in Lincoln City and Salem. While in Lincoln City, he served on the Board of Directors of North Lincoln Hospital. He enjoyed reading history, genealogy, beachcombing, jazz, sports, computers and playing cards. Earlier he had coached Little League baseball. His wife's Alzheimer's condition had been his recent focus.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Anders of Salem; children, Sharon Chastain of Salem, David Anders of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Jeffrey Anders and Nikola Anders, both of Portland.
At Claude's request no services were held. Remembrances are suggested to Alzheimer's Association, Mid-Willamette Chapter.

Katherine M. Dodson
Katherine "Kathy" Marie Dodson, 42, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2001 at Tualatin Community Hospital.
Kathy was born Nov. 1, 1958 in Portland, Ore. to Eugene Stewart and Rose Marie Scheel Dowen, and was raised and schooled in Portland and worked as a bookkeeper in Portland.
On August 15, 1986 she married Harry Dodson and continued to work as a self-employed bookkeeper. In 1989 she moved to Lincoln City, continuing to work in Portland as a bookkeeper. She lived in Hillsboro since 1993.
Kathy loved animals, especially exotic birds, and liked to antique shop.
Surviving are her father and mother, Eugene and Rose Dowen of Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Selena Headings of Eugene, Ore., and a brother, Eugene Dowen, Jr. of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Private family services were held Tuesday, Oct. 30, with interment at McBride cemetery in Carlton, Ore.
Macy & Son Funeral Directors, McMinnville, handled the arrangements.

Richard M. Hoag
Richard Mason Hoag, 83, of Lincoln City, died Wednesday, Dec.19, 2001.
Richard was born April 23, 1918 in Somerville, Mass. He received degrees from Bates College, Lewiston, Maine and Stanford University. On Sept. 8, 1945, he married Carolyn Hayden in Newton, Mass.
During World War II he served aboard the USS Amycus, which participated in amphibious landings in New Guinea and The Philippines. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1961 after 24 years of service as a naval officer, followed by a second career with Lockheed Missiles and Space Company.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Hoag of Lincoln City; a daughter, Nancy Avery of Chestnut Hill, Mass.; three sons, Rush Hoag of Eugene, Ore., Clarke Hoag of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Richard Hoag, Jr. of San Jose, Calif., 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 28, at St. James Episcopal Church in Lincoln City. A family inurnment will be held at a later date at Newton cemetery, Newton, Mass.
Memorial contributions are suggest to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301.
Pacific View Memorial Chapel, Lincoln City, is handling the arrangements.

Marjorie H. Kallman
Marjorie Hunter Kallman, 88, a resident of Sylmar, Calif., died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001 in Mission Hills, Calif.
Surviving Marjorie are her companion of many years, Roy Jonkey of Glendale, Calif.; her son, Raymond Earle Kallman and his former wife, Heidi Kallman, and their daughters, Kathryn and Elizabeth Kallman, all of Lincoln City, Ore.; an extended family and many friends.
Preceding Marjorie in death was her husband, James Maxwell Kallman and her son, Roland James Kallman.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Dec. 20, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Studio City, California, followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested in Marjorie's name to her church and/or The Exceptional Children's Foundation, 3750 W. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Los Angeles, Calif. 90008.

Roland J. Kallman
Roland James Kallman, 52, died Oct. 19, 2001 at Northridge Hospital in California following a lifetime of developmental and physical challenges.
Roland was the son of Marjorie Hunter Kallman and James Maxwell Kallman ­ the father preceding him in death ­ the mother following approximately two months later.
Surviving are his only brother, Raymond Earle Kallman, Raymond's former wife, Heidi Kallman, and their children, Kathryn and Elizabeth Kallman, all of Lincoln City, Ore.
A memorial service was held Thursday, Dec. 20, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Studio City, California, followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested in Roland's name to The Exceptional Children's Foundation, 3750 W. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Los Angeles, Calif. 90008.

Lucinda G. Burlington
Lucinda Gene Burlington, 52, of Lincoln City, passed away peacefully at home Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, due to complications of cancer. She was born Aug. 2, 1949 in Billings, Mont.
Surviving are her husband, John, of Lincoln City; twin daughters, Louissa and Melissa, also of Lincoln City; her sons, Mike of Hyland, Calif. and James of Lincoln City; a brother, Tom Kisman of Gosnell, Ark.; sisters, Melinda of Rose Lodge and Rebecca of Bend; eight grandchildren (and another on the way); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Margaret Janet Ward Maynard
June 8, 1919 – May 18, 2016
Margaret Janet Ward Maynard died peacefully in her sleep on May 18, 2016, at her home in Vancouver, Wash., with family members nearby. She was born June 8, 1919, on her parents’ dairy farm in Avalon, Wis. She was the only child of Harold Leslie Ward and Edith Jean Hadden, who predeceased her in 1945 and 1972.
Margaret was educated at Janesville High School in Janesville, Wis.; Monmouth College in Monmouth, Ill.; University of Wisconsin in Madison; and Smith College School for Social Work in Northampton, Mass. She was an intelligent and curious lifelong learner, an avid reader of fiction and nonfiction – and a formidable Scrabble player. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority, American Association of University Women, and many other organizations.
Margaret met Russell Milton Maynard at Monmouth College, and they were married on December 31, 1941, at the Rock Prairie United Presbyterian Church in Johnstown Center, Wis.
Russell was a doctor in the United States Navy from before Pearl Harbor until after the Korean War, when he became a doctor for the Veteran’s Administration. When Russell retired in 1979, he and Margaret moved to Cascade Head Ranch in Otis, Ore. Russell died in 1993.
Margaret excelled as a farmer’s daughter, naval officer’s wife, doctor’s wife, church leader and community volunteer; and (most importantly) she was an exceptional mother.
She raised, nurtured and launched seven children: James Hadden Maynard of Vancouver, Wash.; Harold Ward Maynard (Lorraine Bergkvist) of Baltimore, Md.; Christina Maynard Cardenas (Tony Cardenas) of Grandview, Wash; Hugh Milton Maynard (Faith Woodman) of Bath, Maine; John Russell Maynard (Helen Brereton) of Cowes, Victoria, Australia; Nancy Jean Maynard of Vancouver, Wash; and Marcia Wynne Maynard (Jim Fischer) of Vancouver, Wash, She is survived by her seven children, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service, followed by a celebration of life reception, will be held at 11 a.m. on June 4, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church, 4300 Main Street, Vancouver, Wash. 98663. Margaret’s ashes will be buried in the summer of 2017 in the Johnstown Center cemetery, Johnstown Center, Wis. It’s not far from the farm where she was born.

Charles A. Richmond
Charles A. Richmond, 75, of Gleneden Beach, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001. He was born July 17, 1926 in Portland, Ore.
On March 3, 1948, Charles married Alice Dudley in Portland.
As a mechanical engineer, he worked for Hyster Company in Portland, Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Danville, Ill. for a total of 19 years, retiring in 1984. He then managed a deli at The Marketplace at Salishan until 1988. Charles was a member of the United Congregational Church, Lincoln City, and served on various church boards. He was an avid member of Kiwanis of Lincoln City, the 4C's, Cascade Head Festival Board, Neskowin Valley School Board, Coronado Shores Owners Board and other organizations.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Jean Richmond of Gleneden Beach; sons, Scott Charles Richmond of San Diego, Calif. and Paul Boyd Richmond of Philomath, Ore; a daughter, Renae Jean Richmond of Newport; three brothers, Robert Earnest Richmond of Portland, Harry Hughes Richmond, Jr. of Lincoln City, and Kenneth Dale Richmond of Gresham; and five granddaughters, Erin Richmond and Leigh Richmond, both of North Bend, Elizabeth Richmond of San Diego, Calif., Claire Richmond and Naomi Richmond, both of Philomath.
Preceding Charles in death was Neil Thomas Richmond of North Bend.
Memorial services were held Saturday, December 22 at the Congregational Church in Lincoln City.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Ministers Charity Fund, Congregational Church, Lincoln City.
Pacific View Memorial Chapel handled the arrangements.

Bari Black
Bari Black, 85, died peacefully at her Lincoln City home Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, following 11 years with Alzheimer's.
She was born Margaret Elizabeth Barrett in London, England on May 2, 1916. Bari worked as a model in England and served four years in the Women's Land Army during World War II. There she met her future husband, Major Donald Black, U.S. Army, who was fighting in the European Theater. They were married in England in 1946, and came to America together in1947, settling in Sacramento, Calif.
Their first-born son, Kerry Barrett Black, was born in 1952 and died in1954 in Gold Run, Calif.
In 1955, the Blacks moved to Portland, Ore., opening Black's Fine Furniture. Bari raised their children, Paul and Jennifer, and pursued her passion for fine sewing and needlework.
Bari taught embroidery classes at Damascus Pioneer Craft School in Clackamas in the 1960s and 1970s. Her stitched and painted landscapes were shown in local galleries.
Bari and Don purchased their Lincoln City beach home, "The Aerie," on the Taft Heights bluff overlooking Siletz Bay in 1976 and spent the remainder of their lives enjoying the coast. Bari was an avid English gardener; her rhododendrons, azaleas and perennials continue to thrive.
Bari was a generous, thoughtful friend and devoted grandmother; she shared her flowers, berry jam and wisdom with all. She was active in the Episcopal Church. Bari was loved and loving.
Surviving are her son Paul Black, his wife Lynette, and their daughters, Jessica and Kelsey of Sandy; her daughter Jennifer Novell Black of Lincoln City and her son Immanuel Black, who is stationed with the U.S. Navy in Jacksonville, Fla.; a brother Geoffrey Barrett of Mill Valley, Calif., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bari was preceded in death by her son, Kerry, in 1954 and her beloved husband, Don, in 1995.
Memorials are suggested to Elder Abode in Lincoln City.
Pacific View Memorial Chapel, Lincoln City, is handling the arrangements.
