Madelle Canaday
Madelle Canaday of Newberg died June 14, 2007. She was 91.
She was born Dec. 10, 1915, in Cottage Grove to George and Betty (McLean) Kappauf.
She married Claude Canaday in 1965 in Newberg. She worked as a bank teller and loan officer at First National (now Wells Fargo) Bank for more than 35 years.
Survivors include her close friends Tom and Sharon Vo of Newberg.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979.
Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Joyful Servant Lutheran Church, with Pastor Tom Struck officiating.

Cynthia J. Stouffer
Cynthia Jean Stouffer of Newberg died June 14, 2007. She was 57.
She was born July 20, 1949 to Donald and Norma (Cobb) Stewart in Ashland, and moved with her family to Newberg in 1952.
In 1985, she moved to the Bay Area in California, where she married Jerry Stouffer in 1986.
In 1993, the couple returned to Newberg, where she attended St. Michael's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include: husband Jerry of Newberg; mother Norma Stewart of Newberg; stepdaughter Ellyn Stouffer of Newberg; brother Robert Stewart of Tacoma; and sister Donna Blalock of Monmouth.
No services are planned.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael's Episcopal Church in care of Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel, 207 Villa Road, Newberg OR 97132.

Frances L. Zimmerman
Frances Lillian Zimmerman died June 11, 2007. She was 95.
She was born Aug. 6, 1911, to Lafael and Rozette (Hansen) Roylance in Eugene. Her family moved to Portland when she was young, and she graduated from Franklin High School.
She worked as a dental office manager for 25 years, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Docco Club and Cameo. She also enjoyed genealogy.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward.
Survivors include: sons Steven of Dundee and Gordon of Oakridge; daughter Susan Justis of Baton Rouge, La.; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Her funeral was held June 15 at the Newberg Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Internment took place in Rose City cemetery in Portland.

Bonnie B. Farr
Bonnie Belle Farr, formerly of Newberg, died June 8, 2007, at a McMinnville care home. She was 85.
She was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Pratt, Kan., to Winfred and Ellen Swonger. She moved with her family to Newberg in 1936. She married Virgil Farr in 1939. In 1960, she graduated from beauty school and worked for Marge Young, later opening her own shop.
Survivors include: son Tommy Farr of West Linn; daughters, Linda Osborne and Virginia Lille, both of Newberg, and Mary Johnson of Portland; brother Jack Swonger; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and several brothers and sisters.
At her request no funeral services were scheduled.

Edna Shephard
Edna Shephard of Newberg died June 8, 2007. She was 95.
She was born June 10, 1911, in Winton, Calif., to Louis and Hulda (Karlson) Skadsheim. She attended Columbia Academy, graduating in 1930, and Walla Walla College. She married Joseph Shephard on Jan. 21, 1936. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed writing poetry and crocheting.
Survivors include: sister Martha Pasko of Dundee and brother Amos Skadsheim of Modesto, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977 and by sisters Esther Johnson in 2004 and Ruby Galusha in 2000.
A funeral service was held June 14 in Modesto. Burial was at Lakewood Memorial Park, Hughson, Calif.

David A. Snip
David A. Snip of Newberg died June 12, 2007. He was 49.
He was born March 6, 1958 in Santa Ana, Calif. He moved with his family to Newberg in 1970, graduating from Newberg High School in 1976. He joined the Navy in 1977 and served aboard the USS Constellation. He earned three Bronze Stars, a Meritorious Unit Commendation and two Navy Expeditionary Medals. Retiring in 1987, he returned to Newberg.
He enjoyed collecting football memorabilia and antiques, painting, and deep-sea fishing.
Survivors include: mother Faye London of Newberg: stepsisters, Jody Rosenberry of Dayton and Carrie Austin of Beaverton; aunts, Pat Thomas of Jolette, Ill., and Ann Johnston of Bellevue, Wash.; uncle Charles Johnston of Bellevue.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Dick London, in November 2006.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at noon June 20 in Willamette National cemetery in Portland.

Herbert C. Rosen
Herbert C. Rosen, formerly of Newberg, died May 21, 2007, at a Gresham care home. He was 85.
He was born April 28, 1922, in New Leipzig, N.D. In 1941, he married Julia Bain in North Dakota. He worked as a millwright. He lived in Newberg from 1948 to 1974, then settled in Sisters.
Survivors include: wife Julia of Gresham; son LeRoy of Hood River: daughters, Tanna Chapman of Boring and Janette Murdock of Soldotna, Alaska; brothers, Henry, Ted and Ruben; sisters, Martha Jahnke, Clara Jahnke, Delorse Thomas and Ruth Dvorak.
A private service will be held at the Forest Lawn Mausoleum in Gresham.

Linda M. Williamson
Linda Marie Williamson of Sherwood died May 30, 2007, at Providence Newberg Medical Center. She was 57.
She was born Dec. 19, 1949, in Los Angeles to Luciano and Nellie (Benham) Raineri. She moved with her family to Yamhill when she was 14. She lived in Newport, Tigard, Newberg and St. Paul before settling in Sherwood. She served in the U.S. Navy and was a Girl Scout troop leader and member of the American Legion. She enjoyed jewelry making.
Survivors include: husband Roger of Salem; daughters, Erin of Sherwood and Heather Noble of Salem; mother Nellie Raineri of Newberg; brother John Raineri of Sherwood and sister Anita Smith of Sheridan.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. June 14 in Willamette National cemetery in Portland. A memorial service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at North Valley Friends Church in Newberg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, Willamette Chapter, in care of Alternative Burial and Cremation, PO Box 202, Sherwood, OR 97140.

Russell C. Bony
Russell Clyde Bony of McMinnville died June 3, 2007. He was 75.
He was born Oct. 1, 1931, in McMinnville to Clyde and Ruth (Parker) Bony. He was raised in Yamhill and graduated from Yamhill Union High School in 1949. On Aug. 15, 1952, he married Peggy Williams in the Yamhill Christian Church.
He worked for Williams Freightline as a truck driver until 1953, when he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. After leaving the service, he worked for the Diesel Service Unit company in Portland and returned to Yamhill in 1960, where he worked for C.F. Laughlin Logging. He also worked for the Carlton Truck Stop, retiring in 1996.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, fixing things and served as a bus driver for the Church on the Hill in McMinnville.
Survivors include: wife Peggy of McMinnville; son Kevin of Keizer; daughters, Diane Cappoen of Yamhill and Carmen Banke of McMinnville; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sister Lorraine Olmstead and grandson Scott Banke.
A funeral was held June 7 at the Church on the Hill in McMinnville with Pastor Jerry Moen officiating. Disposition was at Evergreen Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Paula J. Boaz
Paula Jean Boaz of Newberg died June 1, 2007. She was 55.
She was born July 14, 1951, in Portland to Hugh and Olive (Gobbi) Angle. She attended private Catholic schools and Portland State University, where she earned a degree in physical education.
She had two daughters with her first husband, but the couple later separated. As a single mother, she worked several jobs to make ends meet.
In 2004, she married John Boaz in Las Vegas.
She enjoyed traveling and was an avid horse rider.
Survivors include: husband John of Newberg; daughters, Jessica Crocker and Olivia Wall, both of Portland; brother Henri Angle of Portland; sisters, Linda McKenna of Salem and Marietta Rodriguez of San Antonio; one grandson and two nephews.
A funeral service was held June 5 at Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel with Father Jim Nibler officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in care of Attrell's, 207 Villa Road, Newberg OR 97132.

Ethel A. Bixby
Ethel Amy Bixby of Newberg died June 1, 2007. She was 90.
She was born Sept. 10, 1916, in Greenleaf, Idaho, to Clarence and Mary Dailey. She moved to Newberg with her family in 1919, where she attended the Friends and Free Methodist churches. In 1938, she married Harland Bixby.
She began making drapes in her garage in the 1950s and formed a partnership with Bill Spangler in 1959, opening Newberg Interiors on South College Street. She continued to head the company until recently, when her son Marvin took over.
She was named Career Woman of the Year in 1968 by the Newberg Business and Professional Women's Club. She also served on the board of directors and as secretary for the Newberg Chamber of Commerce from 1968 to 1969.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harland in 1967. She married Pat Hodson in 1994; he preceded her in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by son Robert, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include: son Marvin of Newberg; daughter Eleanor Hall of Keizer; sister Ruth Barbour of McMinnville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Northside Community Church in Newberg.
