Regina Quercia

Regina Rae Quercia, 49, of Gleneden Beach, died Jan. 12, 1999.
She was born in Corvallis on Aug. 5, 1949 to Ray and Mary Smith. She had been a resident of Gleneden Beach for the past eight years. She married Joseph Quercia on Feb. 10, 1991 at their home in Gleneden Beach.
She loved to travel and lived for four years in Hawaii and New Mexico. She lived in many places in Oregon, and enjoyed the beaches, sunsets and agates. In later years, she enjoyed painting and writing poetry. She was a member of Central Coast Christian Center in Depoe Bay for eight years.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Quercia of Gleneden Beach; daughters and son-in-law, Tammi and Perry Martin of Albany, Tondra Bernardin and Jamar Youell, both of Gleneden Beach; a son, Michael Youell of Gleneden Beach; stepsons and stepdaughter-in-law Gabriel and Michael Quercia of Grand Ronde and Phillip Quercia of Lincoln City; grandchildren Ricky Martin, Courtney Martin, Owen Quercia, Micayla Martin and Ellie Quercia; brothers Dick, Ray and Bob; sisters Sue, Sandra, Jackie, Kathy, Ann and Liz.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer; and a son, Jonathan.

Jeremy Buller

Jeremy Scott Buller, 24, of Newport died Jan. 12, 1999 in Newport as the result of an automobile accident.
He was born on March 6, 1974 in Salem to John and Sherri Stefani Buller. He graduated from Dallas High School in 1993 and attended Chemeketa Community College in Salem for two years. He worked for Wal-Mart for the past three and one-half years, and became an assistant manager at the Dallas store. He moved to Newport two years ago to take the assistant manager's position at the Newport Wal-Mart.
He was active in community activities and enjoyed sports in high school. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, weight lifting and traveling.
Survivors include his fiance, Angelica Romero of Portland; his parents, Roger and Sherri Jackson of Dallas, Ore.; a brother, Johnnie Buller of Hillsboro; a step-sister, Tina Halsey of Albany; and grandparents Jack and Doris Stefani of Dallas.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. today (Friday) in the Dallas Mortuary Chapel. Interment will be in Dallas Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of the Oregon Donor Program in care of Dallas Mortuary Chapel, 287 SW Washington St., Dallas 97338.

Iris Hancock

Iris Hancock, 90, of Lincoln City died Jan. 11, 1999. She was the cashier for Seafoam's monthly breakfasts.
A memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Lodge Room of Seafoam Rebekah Lodge #250, 1350 SE Oar St., Lincoln City, behind Factory Stores @ Lincoln City.

Alice Zeek

Alice E. Zeek, 94, of Eugene died Jan. 18, 1999 in Eugene.
She was born in Dayton on Jan. 28, 1904 to Savil Wilson and Nina Esther (Bateman) Iler. She was a descendant of two Oregon pioneer families of 1847, Savil Wilson Iler and Caroline Lee.
She spent much of her life in the Toledo area. She married Alton Zeek in Corvallis; he preceded her in death on June 2, 1976.
Survivors include her brother, Savil Swanton "Sam" Iler of Tyler, Texas; nieces Pat Crooks of Seattle, Wash., Molly Iler of Arlington, Va., Norma Crocker of Klamath Falls and Shirley Crocker of Olympia, Wash.; nephews Jay Iler of Salem, Mo., Russell Iler of Houston, Texas, Joseph Iler of Redding, Calif. and Tom Zeek of Molalla; and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
Private family services are planned at a later time. Arrangements are under the direction of Simon Funeral Chapel, Woodburn.

Arthur Teske

Arthur Harry Teske, 70, of Newport died at Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport on Jan. 15, 1999.
He was born in Willamette on Aug. 22, 1928 to George and Martha Yinger Teske.
He had been a resident of Newport for the past 50 years.
For 20 years, he had worked in the woods of Lincoln County as a logger.
He is survived by his sons, Bill Teske of Toledo and Glenn Teske of Spanaway, Wash.; daughters Laura Staples of Newport, and Linda Teske and Vickie Teske, both of Grants Pass; a brother, Harold Teske of Molalla; a sister, Dorothy Hoskins of Hubbard; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Tuesday at the Salvation Army Church in Newport.
Bateman Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Aloysuis "Louie" Dolecheck

Aloysuis "Louie" Dolecheck, 82, of Yachats died Jan. 14, 1999 of natural causes.
He was born in Dickinson, N.D. on Jan. 28, 1916 to John and Emma Dolecheck. He moved to the West Coast as a young adult.
He spent several years in Toppenish, Wash., where he owned a hobby shop. He moved to Yakima, Wash., where his main career was as a building contractor and carpenter.
After retirement, he and his wife made their home in Yachats and lived there for eight years.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing and crabbing.
Survivors include his wife, LaVonne Dolecheck of Yachats; step-daughters Kathy Bensch of Yakima, Wash. and Carla Bureau of Chiloquin; a step-son, Richard Starkey of Klamath Falls; eight step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
Services will not be held at his request. Private cremation will take place.

Peter Steensen

Peter Nels Steensen, 86, of Newport died at Newport Rehabilitation & Specialty Care Center on Jan.15, 1999 of natural causes.
He was born in Kenmar, N.D. on Sept. 12, 1912 and moved to Newport in 1919.
He spent most of his life working as a timber faller in Lincoln County. While working for the former C.D. Johnson Company in the 1930s, he felled the railroad right-of-way for the narrow gauge railroad up the Siletz River Gorge.
He began falling Lincoln County timber in the days before power saws.
A recent issue of the Lincoln County Historical Society publication "Bayfront" featured pictures of Mr. Steensen and the early days of logging along the Upper Siletz River.
In 1955, he and his partner, Paul Towsley, were recognized as the top timber fallers in the Northwest.
They were flown to Hollywood, where they appeared on the television show "You Asked For It."
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and storytelling. He traveled almost every year to hunt elk in the Blue Mountains west of La Grande and could recall participating in the first sanctioned elk hunts in that area during the years just prior to World War II.
He married Elvira Ulery in 1939.
Their marriage lasted until her death in 1995.
The last 50 years of their life together was spent in the house he built just east of Newport.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Pat Collson of Colorado Springs; a son, Richard of Woodland, Wash.; grandchildren Peter and Kelly Collson, and Cory, Gil and Jaimie Steensen; and a brother, Lester.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lincoln County Historical Society.

G.W. "Bill" Tromlitz

G.W. "Bill" Tromlitz, 79, of Portland and formerly of Toledo, died at a Portland hospital Dec. 19, 1998.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Toledo.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends are invited to make contributions to the City of Toledo to prepare a historical display at the public swimming pool, and make needed improvements.
Mr. Tromlitz and his family were active in getting the pool built, operated and maintained in its early years.

Peter Nels Steensen, 86, of Newport died at Newport Rehabilitation & Specialty Care Center on Jan. 15, 1999 of natural causes.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today (Friday) at Eureka Cemetery in Newport.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Lincoln County Historical Society.
