Ginger L. Tuttle
Ginger Lee Tuttle of Sheridan died Aug. 22 at a McMinnville hospital. She was 51.
She was born on Feb. 11, 1955 in New Castle, Ind. to William and Edna Faye (Crawley) Chandler.
She married James B. Tuttle on April 24, 1970, in California, and they settled in Sheridan.
She enjoyed bingo, spending time with her grandchildren, and vacationing in Reno during the hot air balloon festival there.
She was preceded in death by her father, two brothers and one sister.
Survivors include: her husband James; mother Edna; brothers Ken and Dusty Chandler of Newberg; sister Donna Hornsby of Sheridan; sons Joe of Pendleton, Tim of Newberg, and Bill Hansen of Sheridan; daughters Theresa Foster of California, and Cassandra Al-Ghamdi of Springfield; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service was held Aug. 28 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Newberg. Arrangements are in care of Adamson's Sheridan Funeral Home.

Rodney J. De Kar
Rodney J. De Kar died Aug. 19, 2006, at his Dundee home. He was 59.
He was born Oct. 17, 1946, in Binghamton, N.Y., to Joseph and Mildred (Chandler) De Kar.
He served with the U.S. Army from 1966-67. He married Christine in 1967 and settled in Dundee in 1978, where he worked for Gordon Trucking Inc.
He enjoyed golf, music and was an Oakland Raiders fan.
Survivors include: wife Christine of Dundee; sons, Bob of Sherwood, Charles of Clackamas, Jeremy of Aloha and Brian of McMinnville; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 10 at the De Kar home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Legacy Hospice in care of Alternative Burial & Cremation, P.O. Box 202, Sherwood OR 97140.

Merl Wade
Merl Wade of Newberg died Aug. 14, 2006. She was 95.
She was born April 18, 1911, in Revere, Mo., to Arlulus and Lenna (Armstrong) Householder. She married Franklin Wade on June 23, 1928. He preceded her in death in 1988.
She was a member of the Newberg Christian Church, and a rock hunter who enjoyed cutting and polishing stones for crafts.
Survivors include: sons, Ben of Alma, Mo., and Vern of Goldendale, Wash.; daughter Thelma Dinsmore of Newberg; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 23 at the American Legion Hall in Goldendale, Wash.
Memorial contributions may be made to Providence Hospice, 3601 S.W. Murray, Beaverton, OR 97005.

Linda Way
Linda Rodriguez Close Way, formerly of Newberg, died in a car accident on May 22, 2006, in Oklahoma. She was 52.
She was born Dec. 7, 1952, in Denver to Andrew and Micaela Rodriguez, and worked for many years as a special needs aide in the Newberg School District. She married Terry Close in 1982, and her second husband Jack Way in July 1992. She was employed as a position as a special needs teacher in Wilburton, Okla., before her death.
Survivors include: husband Jack of Oklahoma; mother Micaela Rodriguez of California; son Jonathan Close of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brothers Dave, Victor and Richard; sisters Pauline Disinger, Mary Williams, Rose Bjorke, Sandy Rodriguez, Amelia Brannon, Jovita Walker and Susana Basher.
She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Terry Close; brothers John, Gerald and Andrew; and father Andrew Rodriguez.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 2 at the Newberg Church of Christ.

Stephen Sherman
Stephen Sherman of Newberg died Aug. 21, 2006, in Seattle. He was 53.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1953, in San Antonio, Texas, to Lloyd and Carol (D'Angelo) Sherman. He attended Andrews University in Michigan. He worked as a computer software programmer and teacher. He married Carol Wehn on Aug. 10, 1980.
Survivors include: wife Carol of Newberg; son John of Hood River; daughter HollieAnne White of Paradise, Calif.; and parents Lloyd and Carol of San Antonio, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. today (Saturday) at the Beaverton Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Warren E. Simpson
Warren Eugene Simpson of Sherwood died Aug. 22, 2006. He was 66.
He was born Jan. 16, 1940, in Florence, Ariz., to Warren and Mary (Mulcare) Simpson. He grew up in Texas and married Ethel Banks in 1961. He moved to Sherwood in 1980, where he worked as a construction manager for Providence Health Care. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sherwood.
He enjoyed classic cars and auto racing and was a member of the Sports Car Club of America, the Mt. Hood Ford Mustang Club and was a part-time pit inspector at Portland International Raceway.
Survivors include: wife Ethel of Sherwood; sons, Warren of Salem and Brian of Dallas, Texas; daughters, Mary Lou Raney of Troutdale and Robyn Simpson of Tigard; brothers, Neil of Tucson, Ariz., and Harry of Arkansas; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Friday at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sherwood.
Memorial contributions may be to St. Paul Lutheran Church memorial fund in care of Alternative Burial and Cremation, 14889 S.W. Tualatin-Sherwood Road, Suite 404, Sherwood, OR 97140.

Robert H. Adams
Robert Harold Adams died Aug. 15, 2006, in Newberg. He was 50.
He was born Dec. 1, 1955, in Portland to Merle and Delphia June (Moore) Adams. He attended Benson High School.
He worked for Gerber Legendary Blades and Chevron in Newberg and Tualatin. He was an avid sports fan.
Survivors include: parents Merle and June of Portland; grandmother Mabel of Sherwood; sisters, Vicky Churchill, DeAnna Adams, Suzanne Owen, Lillann Larsen, and Jeannie Adams; and daughter Andrea Punley of Colton.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Sherwood Elks Lodge. Contributions may be made to the Red Cross.

Vivian Fisher
Newberg native Vivian 'Si' Fisher died Aug. 14, 2006, in Lincoln City. She was 78.
She was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Newberg to Joseph and Erma (Blackburn) Kingsland, and attended Newberg High School. In 1948, she married Jack Llewellyn, who preceded her in death.
She married Walt Fisher in 1970, and the couple lived in Woods, where they ran a grocery store and dress shop. Her husband preceded her in death in 1990.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and helped establish a library in Woods. She enjoyed traveling and visited the United Kingdom and the Far East, in addition to many places in the United States.
Survivors include: stepsons, Frank and Sid Fisher of Woods; half-brother Charles Kingsland of Alaska; nephews Michael Fix of Cheshire and Gregory Fix of Eugene; and niece Pamela Fix of Greenville, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her sister Patricia Fix in 1997.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Pacific City Library.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pacific City Library in care of Waud's Funeral Home in Tillamook.

Donald V. Swift
Donald V. Swift, who formerly worked in Newberg, died Aug. 16, 2006, in Gresham. He was 77.
He was born in 1929 in Gresham to Ivan and Hazel (Theberg) Swift. He graduated from Gresham High School in 1946.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was discharged in 1948, when he began his career as a teller for First National Bank.
He married Donna Jansen on April 30, 1949, in McMinnville.
He later earned the position of branch manager, working at banks in Gresham, Molalla and Newberg. He then changed careers to work for State Farm Insurance, where he earned the position of district manager, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the Gresham Elks Lodge and the Gresham Eagles. He was also a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and a volunteer at the Zarephath Soup Kitchen in Gresham.
He enjoyed golfing, scuba diving, travel and the company of his grandchildren.
Survivors include: wife Donna of Gresham; sister Eileen Rutherford of Gresham; sons Mike of Boring, Dan of Spokane, Wash., Chris of Vancouver, Wash., Rick, Pat and Tim of Gresham; daughter Judi Luchsinger of West Linn; 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A scriptural rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday at Gresham Funeral Chapel, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Henry Catholic Church in Gresham.
Contributions may be made to the Mount Hood Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Peggy J. Kovach
Peggy J. Kovach died Aug. 4, 2006, at Providence Newberg Medical Center. She was 82.
She was born May 22, 1924, in Portland to Edward and Hattie (Smith) Lefley. She grew up near Grand Island.
Her family moved to Newberg, where she met and married Walter Kovach, who preceded her in death.
Survivors include: sons Walter Jr. of Newberg and Jason of Salem; two grandchildren and sister Dorothy Hines.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters.
No memorial services were held.

David Schulz
David Schulz died of a heart attack on Aug. 14, 2006, at his Newberg home. He was 63.
He was born Nov. 17, 1943, in New England to Tony Schulz and Martha Schulz-Scott.
He worked as a home builder and married his wife Linda in May 1965.
Survivors include: wife Linda of Newberg; sons Joe and Troy; sister Gloria Kerr and four grandchildren.
A private memorial service was held Aug. 17 at Newberg First United Methodist Church.
