Kenny Wells

Kenny Wells, 75, of Toledo died Sept. 7, 2003, of a stomach aneurysm.
He was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Monmouth, Ill., to Martha E. (Abbott) and Melburn L. Wells.
He moved to Roseburg as a boy, where he attended school.
He moved to Toledo in 1948, where he was employed by CD Johnson Lumber Co.
He became a commercial fisherman, and owned and operated the fishing vessel "Svea" for 30 years.
He was a member of the Oregon Territorial Council and the Oregon Trappers Association.
He enjoyed trapping, hunting, and fishing.
Survivors include four daughters, Karen Wells, Linda Cooper, Wendy Krohn, and Charlotte Robeson; two sons, Mike Wells and Dennis Sutherland; a sister, Violet Zoeter; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and his former wife, Belle Wells.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Toledo Cemetery. Bateman Funeral Home of Newport is handling the arrangements.

Patricia Dehning

Patricia A. Dehning, 78, of Lincoln City died Nov. 7, 2003, of respiratory failure.
She was born July 15, 1925, in Lewiston, Idaho, to Emma Marie (Ericson) and Peter A. Zimmerman.
She was raised and educated in Lewiston, and attended St. Gertrude Academy in Cottonwood, Idaho. After graduation, she attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Lewiston.
She married Dick W. Dehning on Oct. 27, 1946, in Lewiston.
She worked as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Lewiston, and later worked in hospitals and home health care facilities in the Tucson, Ariz., area.
She retired in 1976, and moved with her husband to Gold Hill. They traveled throughout Washington and Oregon, and settled in Boardman. Following her husband's retirement in 1986, they moved to Lincoln City, where they managed the Taft Mobile Home Villa until 2001.
She was a member of the Catholic church and of the Altar Society.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Dennis Wimer and Carie and Hugh Eastburn, all of Newport; five grandchildren, Tiffany Miner and her husband, Ryan, of Waldport, Keith Jackson and his wife, Cristi, of Lincoln Beach, Rick Jackson and his wife, Pam, of Sugar Hill, Ga., Tricia Eastburn of Newport, and Jeff Eastburn of Merced, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Chloe Jackson of Lincoln Beach and Hannah Marie Jackson of Sugar Hill, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Olga Carter; and nieces and nephews Patty, Ronna and Marvin, all of Collville, Wash., and Wayne Hanks of Seattle, Wash. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick, on May 29, 2002; and by two brothers and two sisters.
A rosary will be said at 11:30 a.m. followed by a memorial Mass at noon Monday at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Lincoln City. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105. Bateman Funeral Home of Newport is handling the arrangements.

Larry Robinson

Larry Even Robinson, 59, of Newport died Jan. 17, 2004, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis of complications related to dialysis.
He was born Aug. 29, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Robbie L. and Kenneth Swede Robinson.
He moved with his family to Oregon when he was a small child, and graduated from Salem High School.
He worked as a carpenter in California and Oregon.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, and woodworking.
Survivors include his mother, Robbie; two sons, Tony and Jeremy of California; a daughter, Amanda, of California; two grandchildren, Kristen and David; and two nephews, Rick Coplin of Huston, Alaska, and Cole Robinson of Ashland. He was preceded in death by his father, Ken, in 1994; and a brother, Richard Robinson, in 1997.
A memorial luncheon will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Toledo Elks Lodge. Condolences may be sent in care of his mother at 1725 NE Crestview Drive, No. 110, Newport, Ore. 97365.

Margaret Lawrence

Margaret Lawrence, 87, of Waldport died May 13, 2000.
She was born in Chicago, Ill. on June 28, 1912.
She played flute in her high school marching band and in the Chicago Symphony. She worked at John Crerar Library in Chicago.
She married Gordon H. Lawrence on July 1, 1940. They settled in Denver, Colo., in 1945. He preceded her in death in 1991.
She worked for the Colorado Division of Mines as office manager for 33 years. She was an active member of Park Hill United Methodist Church. After retiring, she enjoyed volunteer work. She moved to Waldport in 1996, where she volunteered at the senior meal site.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Karen Lawrence and Robert Rubin of Waldport; grandsons Zak Dillon of Fort Irwin, Calif., and Pete and Joe Dillon, both of Eugene; and a brother, Glenn Griffith of North Carolina.
Disposition is by cremation. The family suggests remembrances be made to a local humane society.

William Wissmath

William Ronald Wissmath, 81, of Lincoln City died June 10, 2000.
He was born April 30, 1919 to Lute and Adeline Wissmath.
He married Helen Shoemake. She preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 1987.
Survivors include his sons, David Wissmath of San Jose, Calif., and Ronald Wissmath of Lincoln City; daughters June Byrne of Medford, Ruth Fowler of Lincoln City, and Dotti Whitlow of Newberg; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A private family service is planned at a later date. Pacific View Memorial Chapel of Lincoln City is serving the family.

Bertha McCart

Bertha Leola McCart of Brookings, 88, died Sept. 27, 2000 at Newport Rehabilitation and Specialty Care Center.
She was born April 17, 1922, in Tidewater to James Barclay and Virginia Stouder.
She graduated from Waldport High School and attended the former Western Oregon State College, Monmouth.
She married Earl McCart in Corvallis in 1942. He died in 1947.
She was a food manager for fraternity houses and various other places.
She was a member of First Christian Church. She enjoyed sewing, stitchery, crocheting, knitting, and making quilts.
She is survived by her daughters Maxine Myers of Tillamook, Christine Roberts of Mexico, Carolyn Eckrode of Tacoma, Wash., and Shirley Warthen of Marysville, Wash.; a son, George McCart of Prineville; brothers Lee Barclay and Everett Barclay of Tidewater and Carl Barclay of California; a sister, Eva Noble of Hebo; seven grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Presbyterian Church in Waldport.
