Lee Harrison
Lee C. Harrison, 90, of Coronado Shores in Lincoln City died at his home on May 20, 2002.
He was born on March 12, 1912 to Alva A. and Viva Woods Harrison in Aurora, Neb.
He married Nona Meir-Henry on Dec. 21, 1930 in Blair, Neb.
They moved to Cottage Grove ,where he was employed as a butcher from 1941 to 1972. He was a member of the Meat Cutters Union.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nona Harrison, in November 1989.
Survivors include a brother, Ralph Harrison of Portland; a daughter-in-law, Sue Ordway of Vancouver, Wash.; and grandchildren Karen Harrison and David Harrison, both of Vancouver, Wash.
Services were handled by Pacific View Memorial Chapel in Lincoln City.
Terry Ryckman
Terry Lowell Ryckman, 34, of Shelton, Wash. died at his home July 24, 2002 of natural causes related to epilepsy.
He was born Aug. 17, 1967 in Bremerton, Wash., to Catherine and Terry Ryckman.
He attended school in Shelton, Wash. before moving to Aurora, where he graduated with honors from North Marion High School. He also completed several college computer courses.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1986 to 1991 and was a military police specialist with the 437th Military Police Company. He served in the Desert Storm campaign, and received the Army Achievement Medal, awarded to soldiers for meritorious service and acts of courage. He achieved the rank of corporal.
He was employed by the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office for a time, then became a computer programmer for Microsoft and another private firm.
He enjoyed art and playing the guitar.
Survivors include his mother and her partner, Catherine Miklethun and Wayne Wolf of Shelton, Wash.; his father and stepmother, Terry and Mary Ryckman of Toledo; brothers and sisters-in-law Thomas and Angel Ryckman of Toledo and Anthony and Cassie Forcier of Shelton, Wash.; his grandmother, Dorothy Ryckman of Shelton, Wash.; a stepsister, Elizabeth Davidson and her family of Oregon; a stepbrother, Wade Shirmer and his family of Oregon; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gabriel and John Gilmore of California and Warren Ryckman of Shelton, Wash.
A memorial service was held Aug. 2 at the Mason County Fairgrounds. Memorial donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation, 4351 Garden City Drive, Landover, Md. 20785.
Douglas Holland
Douglas Massey Holland, 53, of Newport died Sept. 11, 2002 of colon cancer.
He was born Nov. 12, 1948 in California to Jean and Everett "Dutch" Holland.
He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve during the Vietnam Era.
From 1980 to 1997, he worked as a sub-station operator for the Department of Water and Power, Los Angeles, Calif.
Since 1997, he was employed by the Bonneville Power Administration as a sub-station operator, working primarily at the sub-station in Toledo that supplies power to the Central Lincoln People's Utility District and the Georgia-Pacific mill.
He had an interest in electricity and electronics that began in college.
He fought aggressive colon cancer since 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Tia Holland; a son, Travis Holland; his mother, Jean, of Newport; and two brothers and their families, Brian Holland of Houston, Texas and David Holland of Green Cove Springs, Fla. He was preceded in death by his father, Dutch.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Presbyterian Church, 227 NE 12th St., Newport, followed by refreshments. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a tree or flowers be planted in his name, or memorial contributions be made to The American Cancer Society, Portland chapter, in care of Sheila; and to cancer research at Oregon Health and Science University, Portland.
Arthur Ludwig
Arthur James Ludwig, 74, of Otis died Dec. 10, 2002 at his home.
He was born Feb. 27, 1928 in Portland to Goldie (Heroux) and Alfred Ludwig.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific area. He held the rank of Seaman 1st Class.
He was a truck driver for many years.
He lived in Portland for more than 20 years, where he raised his family.
He enjoyed playing pinochle, tinkering with cars, and gold mining.
Survivors include four daughters, Julee Bailey of Virginia Beach, Va., Jane Beaston of Longview, Wash., Kim Nida of Clackamas, and Cindy Adolfo of Portland; three sisters, Valarie Kamp of Boring, Mary Dick of Seattle, Wash., and Marilyn of Eureka, Calif.; three brothers, Alfred Ludwig of Colorado Springs, Colo., Franklin Ludwig of Pennsylvania, and Lindy Ludwig; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
At his request, no memorial service will be held. His ashes will be scattered at sea. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. Pacific View Memorial Chapel in Lincoln City is handling the arrangements.
Edith Lamb
Edith Blanche Lamb, 87, of Toledo died April 15, 2003 at Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport.
She was born Oct. 30, 1915 in Hoxie, Kan. to Pearl and Hiram Townsend.
She married Charles Lamb on Dec. 23, 1933 in Hoxie, Kan.
In 1951, she moved to Oregon with her family. They settled in the Five Rivers area where they lived for 27 years, then moved to Waldport.
In 1990, she moved to Toledo to be near her children.
She was a member of the Waldport Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary.
She was a member of the Newport Church of the Nazarene.
She enjoyed collecting dolls, vintage dishes and house plants.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Louise Lamb of Redmond, Dean and Susie Lamb of Sebastopol, Calif., and Larry and Sonnie Lamb of Myrtle Creek; daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret and Frank Bickell of Myrtle Creek, JoAnn and Jim Bales of Toledo, Bonnie and Jim Skriver of Newport, and Betty Dickinson of Toledo; brothers and sister-in-law, Ray Townsend and Glen Townsend, both of Philomath, and Gene and Dora Townsend of Hermiston; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on April 4, 1981.
Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today (Friday) at Bateman Funeral Home in Newport. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Newport Church of the Nazarene. Interment will be at Chelan Abbey Mausoleum in Newport. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central Coast Humane Society, 510 NE Harney, Newport, Ore. 97365 or to hospice.
Thomas Windover
Thomas Wesley Windover, 61, of Tidewater died Aug. 27, 2003.
He was born Oct. 9, 1942, in Grand Rapids, Mich.
He designed, fabricated, and installed air pollution systems for manufacturing companies throughout the Midwest, including Amway and Steelcase Corp.
He married his wife, Judy, on Sept. 10, 1977, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Waldport.
He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 410, Grand Rapids, Mich.. and Dan O's Café Breakfast Bunch in Waldport.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Windover; a daughter, Kimberly Stapleton of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a son, Charles Windover of Grand Rapids, Mich.; two sisters, Roberta "Bobbi" Korkow of Salem and Peggy Terpenning of Cedar Springs, Mich.; a stepson, Michael Rocheleau of Belmont, Mich.; his mother-in-law, Sophie Detkowski of Detroit, Mich.; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Wingate; and a stepson, Donald Rocheleau.
At his request, no memorial service will take place. Disposition is by cremation.
