Lichte
Fred J. Lichte, 79, of Woodburn died June 5, 2003.
Born Aug. 19, 1923 in Chadron, Neb., he moved to Woodburn in 1933. He was a berry farmer, having farmed in the Gervais and Woodburn area. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a rifleman with the parachutist combat infantry. He received a bronze star.
He is survived by his two sisters, Kathryn Lichte of Woodburn and Betty Kerns of Portland; numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held June 10.
Interment, with military honors, was at Belle Passi cemetery in Woodburn.
Schneider
Alice F. Schneider, 86, of Woodburn died June 6, 2003.
Born Alice Penne on Sept. 16, 1916 in Helena, Mont., she moved from Montana to Molalla in the 1930s, and to Woodburn in 1934, where she and her husband farmed. She enjoyed reading, bingo, travel and puzzles. She participated in the Canby Adult Center.
She married
Ernest Schneider in 1941. He preceded her in death in 1972. A son, Steve, preceded her in death in 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Carole Fisher of Woodburn; three granddaughters.
Private interment will be in Rock Creek cemetery in Canby.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel of Woodburn.
Contributions may be made to the Monitor Fire Department or the Mt. Angel Benedictine Center's Activity Fund.
Ziegenbein
Mazie D. Ziegenbein, 88, of Woodburn died June 7, 2003.
Born Mazie Carver on Aug. 22, 1914 in Creighton, Neb., she moved to the north Willamette Valley in 1932. She lived in Dayton, Newberg, and Beaverton before moving to Woodburn in 1976.
She enjoyed crafts, reading and gardening.
She was a member of the North Marion Baptist Church.
She married
Herman W. Ziegenbein on Feb. 12, 1930 in Antelope, Neb. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Williamson, Frances Erskine, Harriet Shero, Florence Edwards, Doris Hull, Nancy Mabe and Lenore Wadley; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.
A cryptside service will be held at 11 a.m. June 11 at Finley Sunset Hills Mausoleum in Portland.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel of Woodburn.
Contributions may be made to North Marion Baptist Church.
Graff
Gerald "Jerry" Leroy Graff, 67, of Woodburn died May 25, 2003.
Born Aug. 24, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio, he later joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.
In 1984 he moved to Lebanon and in 2000 to Woodburn.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He liked to go fishing with his buddies, and enjoyed stock car racing and baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Jone; daughters Dorothy J. Newton of Lynnwood, Wash., Brenda L. Shanklin of Lebanon, and Deborah K. Ward of Lebanon; son Gerald L. Graff II of Woodburn; sisters Betty Fogle, Helen More, and Susan Copeland, brothers Merle Graff and David Graff, all of Ashtabula, Ohio.; 12 grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
A celebration of life was held May 31.
Arrangements are by American Burial and Cremation of Tigard.
Ruttencutter
Calvin Earl Ruttencutter, 81, of Woodburn died May 30, 2003.
Born June 29, 1921 in Wilderville, he attended Chico State for one year and served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II.
He worked as a logger in Myrtle Point after the war until 1959, then moved to Napa, Calif. where he worked in the shipyards. He moved to Eugene in 1984 and then to Woodburn in 1988.
He married
Joyce Walker in Myrtle Point in 1950.
He enjoyed golf, reading, traveling and camping in his motor home.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ruttencutter of Woodburn; daughters Jacky Thompson of Portland and Karen Wright of Yuba City, Calif.; sons Calvin Ruttencutter Jr. of Vacaville, Calif., and Kevin Ruttencutter of Harvest, Okla.; eight grandchildren.
Remembrances may be made to Willamette Valley Hospice.

Terry
The Rev. Roy D. Terry, 97, of Woodburn died May 20, 2003 at his home in Silver Creek Assisted Living.
Born Jan. 8, 1906 in Mt. Vernon, Texas, he married
Margie Ruth Anderson on May 30, 1926. She preceded him in death in 1995. He then married
Lois Marr in 1997. She preceded him in death in 2001.
He was an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene and pastored churches in Kansas, Texas, and Colorado. He served as the associate pastor of the local Church of the Nazarene, where he was a member. His father and grandfathers were ministers as were his son, son-in-law and two grandsons.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in his later years he became an avid gardener.
In addition to his wives, his son, Glen, two brothers and six sisters preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Kitchen of Tillamook; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren.
There was a private family burial held at Belle Passi cemetery. A celebration service was held at the Soul's Harbor Church of the Nazarene in Woodburn May 30.
Memorials may be made to the Church of the Nazarene.
McBride
Richard Donald McBride, 83, of Hubbard died May 27, 2003.
Born Feb. 16, 1920 in Madison County, Iowa, he moved to Imperial Valley, Calif. as a young child and grew up farming grapes.
He started a dairy, which he sold before moving to Hubbard in 1960. He then farmed filberts in Hubbard. He married
Jeanette Curtis on Sept. 12, 1993.
He was a member of Woodburn Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; son Richard McBride of Woodburn; and daughter Kathy Beeson of Hubbard; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at Aurora Community cemetery June 2.
Arrangements are by Simon Funeral Chapel of Woodburn.
McNulty
John L. McNulty, 77, of Woodburn died May 23, 2003.
Born June 3, 1925 in Gregory, S.D., he moved to Woodburn in 1934.
He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Woodburn.
He married
Lorena Clark in 1970.
He was a farmer who grew a diverse group of crops.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his stepsons, Danny Clark of St. Helens, David Clark of Woodburn, Steven Clark of St. Helens, and Mark Clark of Clatskanie; brothers, Donald McNulty and Raymond McNulty, both of Woodburn; sister, Kathleen of Stevensville, Texas; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A rosary prayer service was held May 26 at Cornwell Colonial Chapel. Funeral mass was held May 27 at St. Luke Catholic Church, Woodburn.
Berg
Dennis Wayne Berg, 50, of Woodburn died July 9, 2002.
Born July 17, 1952, in Chippewa Falls, Wis., he was a security guard for Initial Security. He was also a United States Marine and served in Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Rene Ann Berg; daughters, Tina Marie Warner of Keizer and Jean Eileen Berg of Hubbard; son, Richard Oscar Berg of Hubbard; mother, Eileen Berg of Sheldon, Wisc.; brothers, Timmon, Weston, Jimmy and Darrell Berg; sisters, Elaine Tinsman and Doreen Wright; and six grandchildren.
Services were held July 11 in Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Arrangements were by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Brack
Roger A. Brack, 55, of died July 10, 2002.
Born Feb. 20, 1947, in Silverton, he graduated from North Marion High School and Oregon State University. He was an assistant athletic trainer while attending Oregon State. After graduation he became head trainer at Pacific University then with the Portland Beavers. He was also head trainer at the University of Idaho. He was a medical evaluator for the State of Oregon's Workmen's Compensation Department.
Survivors include his mother, Joan Brack; sister, Pam Edwards; and brother, Randy Brack.
A gathering of friends was held July 14 at Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Private interment was in Belle Passi Mausoleum, Woodburn.
Arrangements were by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
