Hubka
Alice Hedwig Hubka, 95 of Woodburn died Aug. 14, 2002.
Born Nov. 16, 1906, in Aberdeen, Idaho, she was a registered nurse for Good Samaratin Hospital. She lived in Woodburn for 36 years. She was a member of the Woodburn Senior Estates Golf and Country Club and of the United Methodist Church.
Her interests included cards, church, gardening and music.
She married Frank Charles Hubka Oct. 20, 1945; he died in 1972.
Survivors include her son, David Hubka of Rocklin, Calif.; brother, Walter Dirks of Montevista, Colo.; sister, Gertrude Baird of Carmel, Ind.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held Aug. 19 in Woodburn United Methodist Church.
Arrangements were by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Carr
Z. Roberta Carr, 74, of Woodburn died Oct. 6, 2002.
Born Aug. 30, 1928, in Lone Oke, Ark., she grew up and attended school in Arkansas. She worked for the Hot Springs County Memorial Hospital in Arkansas for 20 years, retiring in 1994, when she became a respitory therapist. She moved to Woodburn in 1994. She was also a member of the Baptist Church.
Her interests included crocheting and quilting.
She married Calvin Bost; he preceded her in death. She married Clifton Carr "Shorty" in 1982; he died in 1986.
Survivors include her daughter, Bettye Cox of Woodburn; sons, Calvin M. Bost of Aloha, James A. Bost of Beavercreek; brother, Clyde Eason of Malvern, Ark.; sister, Velma Yarnold of Malvern, Ark.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Oct. 10 in Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn. Interment will be in Rockport cemetery, Melbourne, Ark.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.
Contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Gingerich
Clara M. Gingrich, 95, of Hubbard died Oct. 6, 2002.
Born Oct. 14, 1906, in Needy, she lived in the Hubbard area all her life. She was a homemaker and a member of the Hopewell Mennonite Church.
Her interests included sewing, gardening, cooking and traveling.
She married Daniel L. Gingrich Dec. 25, 1927, in Hubbard; he died in 1977.
Survivors include her sons, Thurlow Gingerich of McMinnville, Ewin of Sheridan, Richard of Canby and Duane of Fisherville, Va.; brother, Vernon Gahler of Molalla; sisters, Dorothy Miller of Canby, Bertha Kenagy of Gresham; 14 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 2 p.m. Oct. 11 in Zion Mennonite Church, Hubbard. Interment will be in Hopewell Mennonite cemetery, Hubbard.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.
Contributions may be made to the Hopewell Mennonite Missions or in care of the Hopewell Mennonite Church in Hubbard.

Martin
Winifred Ruth Martin, 83, of Woodburn died Oct. 4, 2002.
Born Aug. 7, 1919 in Wild Cherry, Ark., she would marry Woodie Martin on July 12, 1966 in Las Vegas.
She was a member of the Friends Church and enjoyed reading. She moved to Woodburn in 1977 from El Paso, Texas.
In addition to her husband she is survived by a son, Gene Martin of Portland; brothers, Verne Martin of Tigard and Gordon Martin of Africa; sisters, Doris Nobel of Woodburn and Dorthy Koch of Caldwell, Idaho; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Private service will be held at Willamette National cemetery.
Arrangements by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel, Woodburn.

Vistica
Michael A. Vistica, 78, formerly of Gervais died Oct. 1, 2002.
Born Sept. 17, 1924 in Gervais, he graduated from Mount Angel High School in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946.
He lived in the area for 40 years.
He is survived by his son, Dan Vistica; brothers, Joe, Ivan and Stan Vistica; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mass was held at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Woodburn Sept. 7, 2002.
Arrangements by Aftercare Cremation and Burial Service, Inc., of Happy Valley.

Galbraith
Lorena M. Galbraith, 93, formerly of Woodburn, died Oct. 1, 2002.
Born May 18, 1909 in Dayton, Wash., she would marry William Ray Galbraith on June 28, 1931. He preceded her in death in 1983.
She was a teacher in the Prairie City School District and lived in Prairie City and Woodburn.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Howard; son, William R. Galbraith; sister, Gertrude Steuber; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A sister, Anieta Carrol, and two brothers, Jack McCauley and Vernon McCauley, preceded her in death.
Inurnment will be at Prairie City cemetery. No services will be held.
Remembrances may be sent to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland.

Mortensen
Ellen Berniece Mortenson, 75, formerly of Woodburn, died Sept. 28, 2002.
Born Nov. 6, 1926 in Woodburn, he married Harold Mortensen on Dec. 24, 1944.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and hunting, as well as tending her flower garden and bird feeders.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Julie Evey of Independence and Sandy Mortensen Howard of Estacada; son, Casey Mortensen of Troutdale; brother, Gilbert Whitney of Independence; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at St. Paul's of Damascus Lutheran Church, 24510 SE Highway 212, Boring.
Arrangements by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.

Lambert
E.B. "Buck" Lambert, 81, of Woodburn died Dec. 21, 2002.
Born, Oct. 10, 1921, in Oregon City, he worked as an auto salesman. He attended Woodburn Worship Center, and was a veteran of World War II. He lived in Stayton, Keizer and Salem before moving to Woodburn in 2000.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen Lambert of Nevada, Nancy Lambert and Claudia Zelli both of Florida; brother, Allen Lambert of West Salem; sister, Annabelle Lamirande of Portland; and four grandchildren.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Jan. 23 in Woodburn Worship Center, Woodburn. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemtery, Portland.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel, Woodburn.

Hankins
Earl J. Hankins, 86, of Woodburn died Jan. 10, 2003.
Born April 24, 1916, in Koshkonong, Mo., he was a steel pickler for Steel Galvanizing. He was also a logger in Oregon, Washington and Idaho. He worked on the waterfront in San Francisco, Calif., during World War II. He lived in Portland and Gresham before moving to Woodburn in 1994. He was a member of the Woodburn Senior Estates Golf and Country Club.
He married Colleen Altizer Nov. 24, 1980, in Gresham.
Survivors include his wife; stepdaughter, Pat E. Mayers of Oregon City; stepson, Jim Bledsoe; brother, Sidney Hankins of Sweet Home; sister, Evelyn Texley of San Mateo, Calif.; and three stepgrandchildren.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Jan. 16 in Belle Passi Memorial Mausoleum, Woodburn.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Compton
Wylie J. Compton, 54, of Seaside died Jan. 7, 2003.
Born July 15, 1948, in Portland, he was a bartender for the Elks Lodge. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1966. He also graduated from Portland Community College and Portland State University with a degree in psychology and history. He lived in Portland before moving to Seaside in 1996. He worked for the Portland School District and owned two restaurants.
His interests included walking on the beach, traveling, camping and reading.
He married Jackie Hanrahan in 1995.
Survivors include his wife; son, Nolan; sister, Carlin; brothers, Russel and BJ; and father, William Compton.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 120 Ocean Drive, Seaside.
Arrangements are by North Valley Funeral Alternatives.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Wylie Compton Memorial Fund.
