Grimm
Marvin “Pete” Grimm, 85, of Woodburn, died March 31, 2012. He was born Jan. 20, 1927 to Leonard and Viola Grimm in Toledo, Ohio.
He was raised by his grandparents and graduated from high school in Lockhart, Texas. In 1946 he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He attended and graduated from Texas Lutheran College in Sequin, Texas in 1953.
Pryor
Fay Elizabeth Pryor, 80, of Woodburn, died March 26, 2012. She was born April 6, 1931 in Greentop, Mo. to Homer and Kate Gatlin.
She was raised in Greentop, where she attended school. She married
Kenneth Pryor and in 1960 they moved their family to the Woodburn area.
She worked at the Oregon State Hospital as a psychiatric nurse’s aide.
Colvin
Mary Ann Colvin, 90, of Twin Falls, Idaho, died May 21, 2010. She was born July 22, 1919 in St. Paul to Urban J. Kirk and Zeta G. McCormick. She was the second of 10 children.
Her early years were spent helping her parents raise children and chickens on the Twin Oaks Poultry Farm. She graduated from St. Paul High School and then got her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Portland-St. Vincent’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She married
Donald M. Colvin Nov. 18, 1942 in St. Paul.
She is survived by her children, Kirk Colvin and Christine Carmichael; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul on May 30 at 3 p.m. with a reception to follow in the community hall.

Croco
William Irmen Croco, 79, of Lebanon, died May 26, 2010. He was born May 6, 1931 in Seattle to Matilda Irmen and Russell Ingraham.
They then moved to Butteville, where he attended Butteville Grade School. He graduated from Woodburn High School in 1949.
He joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. He served on the U.S.S. Glendale and the U.S.S. Wedderburn.
He married
Bernadine Harper in September of 1953.
After being discharged from the Navy, he attended Linfield College from 1954-58 and earned a master’s degree in education. While at Linfield, he played baseball for legendary coach Roy Helser, earning all-league and all-district honors as a pitcher. He finished his playing days for the Drain Black Sox and then the Woodburn Tankers.
He taught at Lincoln High School for three years, Woodburn High School for nine years and finished his teaching career at Lebanon High School, where he taught for 22 years, retiring in 1989. He was a long-time head baseball coach, assistant football coach and was active in American Legion Baseball.
He served as the Area 3 commissioner in the Oregon State American Legion Baseball program for years and was the state commissioner for Oregon American Legion Baseball for many years. The baseball field at Lebanon High School is named after him.
He was named the Oregon American Legion Coach of the Year in 1971 and was later inducted into the Oregon State Coaches Hall of Fame.
He is survived by his wife, Bernadine; sons William R. Croco, of Corvallis, Chester Croco, of Lebanon and Peter Croco, of Lebanon; sister, Barbara McLeod, of Portland; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Timothy Croco.
There will be no service. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to the Lebanon High School baseball program.
Bayer
Dorothy Mae Bayer, 102, of Woodburn and formally of Roseburg, passed away May 9, 2010. She was born Dec. 17, 1907 in Martinsville, Ind., the first of nine children to Tex and May Breedlove.
In 1932 she married
Joe Queen and they had one child, Norman Queen. He preceded her in death in 1955.
In 1959 she remarried
to Kenneth Bayer of Kent, Wash. They later moved to Woodburn where she was active in the Senior Estates Organ Club and the Music Makers Organ Club.
She is survived by her sister, Shirley Henry of Bend; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe, in 1955; second husband, Kenneth in 1993 and son, Norman in 1994.
A celebration of life is planned for June 19 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Country Meadows Village Retirement Home, 155 S. Evergreen Road in Woodburn. Call 503 982-2221 for more information.
Entomb has taken place under the directions of Wilson’s Chapel of the Roses.
Lewallen
Mathilda “Tillie” Lewallen, 89, of Woodburn, died May 25, 2010. She was born Feb. 16, 1921 in Max, N.D. to Adam and Ottelia Schoenwald, the last of 10 children.
She graduated from Minot, North Dakota High in 1939 and then moved to Oregon City.
She married
Aaron Lewallen in 1945 and lived throughout the Northwest. They divorced in 1983.
She moved to Woodburn in 1975 and enjoyed many ears of golf, travel and square dancing. She loved going to Hawaii.
She is survived by her sons, Marvin, of Spokane, Wash. and Gary, of Porltand and four grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for June 5 at 1 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Woodburn, located at 1036 E. Lincoln St.
Memorial may be made to the church’s building fund or to the Alzheimer’s Research Program.
Neely
Ralph Thomas Neely, 84, of Woodburn, died May 30, 2010. He was born Feb. 18, 1926 in Mapleton.
He was a an electronics and TV sales and repairman. He enjoyed golfing and gardening.
He is survived by his companion, Gloria L. Faber, of Woodburn; daughters Patricia Carroll Neely of Beaverton, Kelley Ann Rifilato, of Bayfield, Colo., and Mary Katherine Shrum, of Snohomish, Wash; son Casey Thomas Neely, of Sherwood and four grandchildren.
No services are scheduled.
Korkeakoski
Pirkko Marja Korkeakoski, 64, of Woodburn, died May 29, 2010. She was born Oct. 23, 1945 in Pihtipudas, Finland.
She was a real estate and property manager.
She is survived by son Timothy Paddock, of Willamina; brother Timo Korkeakoski, of Woodburn; sisters Irene Korkeakoski, of Woodburn and Elvi Stewart, of Pinehurst, Idaho; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
No services are scheduled.
Sommer
Dale Allen Sommer, 92, of Woodburn, died May 29, 2010. He was born Fe.b 14, 1918 in Scio to Franklin and Madge Crabtree Sommer.
He married
Vivian Brigham on Aug. 16, 1941 in North Bend.
He was a long-time resident of Coos Bay and graduated from Marshfield High School. He lived in Bellevue, Wash. for 20 years before retiring in Woodburn.
He worked in the lumber industry most of his life as a lumber grader, inspector and supervisor for the Pacific Lumber Inspection Bureau, retiring after 34 years of service. He taught lumber grading classes after his retirement.
He was very active in sports in his younger years, lettering in track at Marshfield and playing semi-pro baseball. Later in life, he played golf at Senior Estates. Other hobbies included woodworking and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Vivian Sommer, of Woodburn; children, Steve Sommer of Bellevue and Jane Quien of Eugene; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Peggy White and brothers, Robert and Kenneth Sommer.
A family memorial service will be scheduled later in June. Arrangements by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Breshears
Marion Michael “Skip” Breshears, 78, of Newberg, died June 5, 2010. He was born Feb. 3, 1933 in Seattle and grew up on a cattle ranch in Tonasket, Wash. He graduated from Tonasket High in 1951.
On March 21, 1952, he married
Shirley Shaughnessy in Spanaway, Wash. After serving in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War, he attended Washington State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering.
He moved to Woodburn in 1966 to work for Birds Eye, Corp. He later joined Mackenzie Engineering Group in Portland, specializing in structural engineering associated with paper machines and in 1986 founded Breshears/Thornton Engineering (B/TEC) in Aurora.
Active in the community, he participated in Marion County Mounted Posse, volunteering for search and rescue duty and competing in cowboy polo, served on the Woodburn Planning Commission during the 1970s, and consulted on building projects for Woodburn High School. In 1999 he traveled to Haiti with Mercy Corps International to work at an orphanage and, after moving to Newberg in 2001, he volunteered there with LOVE, Inc. and Faith in Action.
As a lifelong outdoorsman and part-owner of Minam River Lodge in the Wallowa Wilderness Area, he enjoyed hunting and horseback riding, flying, boating and attending children and grandchildren’s activities, as well as hobby farming.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Breshears, of Newberg; son, Larry Breshears, of Woodburn; daughters, Terri Lahr, of Newberg, Michelle, of Gervais, and Susan, of St. Paul; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings and one granddaughter.
A viewing will be held June 9 from noon to 8 p.m. at Attrell’s Newberg Funeral Chapel, 207 Villa Road, in Newberg.
A memorial service will be held June 10 at 1 p.m. at Attrell’s Newberg Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will immediately follow at St. Paul cemetery.
Lewin
Julie Lewin, of Woodburn, died June 5, 2010. She was born in China in 1953. She moved to New York with her family when she was 6 years old and later to Woodburn.
She is survived by her husband, Gary and daughter, Melissa.
A memorial service will be held June 12 at 11 a.m. at Solomon’s Porch in Hubbard.
