Walden Hawk
Mamie Walden Hawk (Larson), 95, formerly of Woodburn, died Dec. 4, 2004.
Born Oct. 3, 1909 in Manson, Iowa, she was a store clerk, a foreman in shipyards during World War II and a homemaker.
She lived in Iowa until 1942, then moved to Vancouver, Wash., where she lived until 1946. She lived in Portland from 1946 to 1975, in Woodburn Senior Estates from 1975 to 1997, and in Gresham from 1998 to 2004.
She was a member of Nydia Temple No. 4, Daughters of the Nile and she was known as the "coffee lady" in Woodburn Senior Estates.
She married
Lester S. Walden in 1931. He preceded her in death in 1969.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Roberts; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Dec. 10 at Fairlawn Care Center.

Hawley
Richard "Dick" D. Hawley, 72, of Canby, died Dec. 8, 2004.
Born June 3, 1932 in Lorain, Ohio, he moved to Canby in 1980 and was a sales representative for a grocery distributor.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, and was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Gideon's International and the Retail Grocery Clerk Union.
He married
Joan Marie Profaut on July 26, 1953 in Santa Anna, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Marie Hawley of Canby; sons, Mark of Woodburn and Robert of Santa Ana, Calif.; daughters, Rebecca Hilton of Canby and Jennifer Van Orsow of Oregon City; sisters, Marianne Shoemaker of Edmonds, Wash., Patricia Ruble and Kay Chet, both of Lorain, Ohio; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 11 at Hope Lutheran Church in Woodburn.
Interment will be at 11 a.m. Dec. 13 at Willamette National cemetery.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.

Holmes
Claire Pfeiffer Holmes, 61, formerly of Woodburn, died Dec. 6, 2004.
Born Jan. 16, 1943 in Helena, Mont., along with her twin sister, Caludia, she attended and graduated from Helena Cathedral High and worked at St. John's Hospital.
In 1963 she married
Jeff Holmes and began to raise a family in Helena. After raising her family, they moved to Oregon and settled in Woodburn. While living there she and Jeff established a lawn maintenance business out of their home in the 1990s. Career opportunities eventually led them back to Great Falls, Mont.
She is survived by husband Jeff; daughter, Rachelle; son, Michael; father, Norman; and brothers, Paul, Larry, and Carl.
By her request no services will be held.

Thomas
Maxine A. Thomas (Taylor), 87, of Woodburn, died Feb. 5, 2005.
Born Oct. 12, 1917 in Bay City, Mich., she had lived in California and Keizer before moving to Woodburn one year ago.
She had worked as a food server in a restaurant and was a member of the Catholic Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Keizer Elks Lodge.
She was married
to Quintan Thomas in 1948 in El Centro, Calif.
She is survived by sons, Maurice Dilts of Chicago and Tommy Wilson of Woodburn; two grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held.

Cunningham
Evonne N. Cunningham (Cochran), 66, of Gervais, died Feb. 6, 2005 of cancer.
Born Nov. 17, 1938 in Plainsville, Kan., she was a homemaker and lived in the St. Louis area west of Gervais since 1965.
She enjoyed crafts, church and children. She belonged to the Red Hat Society, Church Missionary Association and was a church school teacher.
She married
Ray Cunningham in 1956.
She is survived by her husband, Algie Raymond "Ray" Cunningham; mother, Nina Rose Mills; daughters, Eileen Rubino of Salem, Cindy Ahern of Mt. Angel, and Sherry Durbin of North Plains; sons, William Cunningham of Salem and Ray Cunningham Jr. of Gervais; brother, Lyle Cochran; sisters, Marlene Askland, Wanda Baker, Opal Mason, Rita Wiederman, Ellen DeSalems, Nancy Weaver, Lee Ila, Phyllis Gomez, and Debbie Troup; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by son, Raymond Westley Cunningham; brother, Daryl Cochran; and sister, Twilla Brattan.
A funeral service was held Feb. 11 at Brooks Assembly Church of God.
Interment followed at Belle Passi cemetery.

Cutsforth
H. Ronald Cutsforth, 67, of Canby, died Feb. 7, 2005.
Born June 6, 1937 in Woodburn, he graduated from Gervais High School in 1956. He is a retired fabricator for Gem Equipment and moved to Canby in 1991.
He enjoyed fishing and cooking.
He is survived by companion, Pam Moffett of Canby; daughter, Carrie McColly of Salem; son, H. Ron Cutsforth Jr. of Salem; step-children, Jim Moffett of Hillsboro, Andrew Moffett of Woodburn, Brandy Hall of Canby; brother, Jerald Cutsforth of Cresent City, Calif.; sister, Betty Robinson of Aloha; and seven grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 15 at Cornwell Colonial Chapel.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.

Lopez
Jesus Lopez, 93, of Gervais, died Feb. 8, 2005.
Born Dec. 23, 1911 in Laredo, Texas, he married
Nieves Ruiz in 1943 in Natchez, Miss., and they made their home in Texas. They moved to St. Paul in 1956, to Gervais in 1970, to California in 1991, then back to Gervais in 2000.
He had worked all his life in agricultural farming.
He was a member of the Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his children, Lucia Bustamante of Gervais, Ernestina Lopez of San Jose, Calif., Jesus Lopez of Gervais; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
His wife, Nieves, preceded him in death on June 21, 2004.
Arrangements are by Cornwell Colonial Chapel.
January
Thomas A. "Tom" January, 54 of Woodburn, died April 14, 2006.
Born March 13, 1952 in Newberg, he graduated from St. Paul High School and worked in St. Paul for hop farmers and rendering plant and at a tire store in Canby. He loved to fish, hunt, spend time at the Oregon Coast and was an excellent cook and barbequer.
He was a founding member of the St. Paul Jaycees.
He is survived by daughter, Angelin Rose January of Molalla; brother, Edward January of Portland; and ex-wife, Angel Wyant of Molalla.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. April 24 at St. Paul Catholic cemetery.
A memorial mass will be held at a later date.

Gregory
Thelma A. Gregory, 86, of Woodburn, died April 17, 2006.
Born March 9, 1920 in Hahatonka, Mo., she lived in Missouri, Arizona and California before moving to Oregon. In San Jose, Calif., she had worked as a waitress at the Hyatt Hotel until retiring and moving to Woodburn in 1980.
She enjoyed bible study, writing poems, and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Rebekah lodge in Lebanon.
She married
Ernest Null in 1942. He preceded her in death in 1978.
She later married
Delbert Gregory in 1987 and they made their home in Lebanon. He preceded her in death in 2005.
She is survived by her children, Olivia Null of Tualatin, Robert Null of California, Paul Null of Woodburn, Linda Stern of South Dakota; brother, Marvin of Oklahoma; sisters, Beulah of California, Pauline of Missouri; and numerous grand and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her children, Paula and Ernest.
A memorial service was held April 20 at Faith Christian Fellowship Church in Woodburn.
Private interment will be held at Restlawn Memorial Mausoleum in Salem.
