Lola Beatrice Resler
March 15, 1927 - May 17, 2001
Lola Beatrice Resler of Bend died May 17 at a Bend adult care facility. She was 74.
The service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tumalo Baptist Church at 63850 Old Bend Highway. Burial will follow at Pilot Butte cemetery in Bend.
Mrs. Resler was born on March 15, 1927, in Hitchcock, Okla., to Clellie Edward and Mable Pearl (Stewart) Huffman. She moved to the Dalles in 1952 and lived there until the early 1970s, when she moved to Alaska. She returned to Oregon in May 2000 settling in Bend near her daughter.
Mrs. Resler was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed traveling, wildlife, fishing and people. She always wanted to please.
Survivors include one daughter, Carolyn Coogan of Bend; one son, Melvin Resler of Fairbanks, Alaska; three sisters, Mary Theo Grimsley of Springfield, Minnie Winifred Coil of Venus, Texas, and Velma Elaine Hendon of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Jum Huffman and Joe Huffman, both of Glendale, Ariz. and John Huffman of Farmington, N.M.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Resler was preceded in death by three brothers, Clarence, Delbert and Clyde Huffman, and her parents.

Robert M. Ocklind
March 31, 1925 - May 16, 2001
Robert M. Ocklind of Bend died of natural causes at his home on May 16. He was 76.
The memorial service was held May 19 at Greenwood Memorial cemetery in Bend. Mr. Ocklind was cremated and his remains will be inurned at Juniper Haven cemetery in Prineville.
Mr. Ocklind was born March 31, 1925, in Eugene to Earl L. and Euna Roberta (Roberts) Ocklind. He grew up in Eugene and the Willamette Valley, and attended high school in Creswell. He went to work in sawmills in the Willamette Valley.
Mr. Ocklind retired from the Redmond plywood plant in 1986.
He married
his wife, Bonnie, on July 4, 1977. Mr. Ocklind was a member of the Church of Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors and rock hounding. He was formerly active in a Rock Hound club.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; two daughters, Lorie Hildebrand of Santa Clara, N.M., and Angie Ocklind of Chalis, Idaho; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a special friend, Bonnie Dotson of Bend.

Loid Delbert Bellus
Dec. 10, 1934 - Aug. 21, 2003
Loid Delbert Bellus of Bend died Thursday of cancer. He was 68.

Mr. Bellus was born Dec. 10, 1934, in Eureka, Calif., to Loid and Margarete (Lewis) Bellus. He married
Verna Lee on Jan. 26, 1952, in Eureka, Calif.
Mr. Bellus served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He worked as a firefighter and served as the fire chief in Redding, Calif., before his retirement in 2000.
Mr. Bellus was a member of the California State Fireman's Association, Kiwanis, Elks Lodge, American Legion, Lions, Good Sams and the Redding Chamber of Commerce.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, archery, waterskiing, golf and mechanics. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of Bend; five daughters, Cyndi Kaber of Susanville, Calif., Vernell of Paradise, Calif., Collen Marlow of El Cajon, Calif., and Debbera Walls and Pattie Faulkner, both of Bend; a sister, Hazel Alves of Inola, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Catherine F. Hawthorne
April 16, 1913 - Aug. 22, 2003
Catherine F. Hawthorne of Portland died Friday of natural causes. She was 90.
A private inurnment service will be held at Gray Butte cemetery in Jefferson County.
Mrs. Hawthorne was born April 16, 1913, in Greenpoint, N.Y., to Anthony and Elizabeth (Reid) Demarest.
Mrs. Hawthorne worked as an engineer in New York City. In 1942, she joined the Army Corps of Engineers and was shipped to Fort Richardson, Alaska. She married
Jean Hawthorne on Jan. 6, 1944, at Fort Richardson.
She moved to Central Oregon in 1948 before moving to Metolius in 1974.
Survivors include her son, John of Portland; a daughter, Jean Latham of Ketchikan, Alaska; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Clyde Leon Keller Jr.
May 20, 1915 - Aug. 20, 2003
Clyde Leon Keller Jr. of Portland died Aug. 20 after a lengthy illness. He was 88.
A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 28 at Willamette National cemetery in Portland.
Mr. Keller was born May 20, 1915, in Portland to Clyde Sr. and Blanche (Snider) Keller. He married
Eleanor Bressie.
Mr. Keller served in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He participated in over 81 landings and was awarded a Letter of Commendation from General MacArthur.
He worked as an acoustical engineer for nearly 30 years for Johnson Acoustical before retiring to Bend in 1981.
Mr. Keller was an award-winning artist and member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon, the Oregon Society of Artists in Portland and Sagebrushers in Bend. His public works include the ”Totem” on the south end of Madras and the ”Eagle” located north of Madras. He was also a member of the Portland Bonzai Society and Toastmasters.
Mr. Keller enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an Oregon state dry fly casting champion in 1940 and was known locally as ”Clyde The Guide.”
Survivors include his son, Clyde of Bend; a daughter, Carol Goozey of Bend; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Kathryn, and parents.

Ian 'Andy' McAndie
Nov. 23, 1927 - Aug. 21, 2003
Ian ”Andy” McAndie of Redmond died Thursday of natural causes. He was 75.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Hall in Redmond.
Mr. McAndie was born Nov. 23, 1927, in Portland to Harold and Katherine McAndie. He married
Leona ”Pat” McAndie on March 31, 1979, in Reno, Nev.
He served in the Coast Guard during World War II in the South Pacific.
Mr. McAndie worked as a snow ranger at Mount Hood and also was on the National Ski Patrol. He then worked for 30 years with the U.S. Forest Service and retired as the assistant air center manager at the Redmond Air Center.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion. He also was a volunteer battalion chief with the Redmond Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife of Redmond; two sons, Donal of La Grande and Bill Barker of Redmond; four daughters, Karen Johnston, Judi Malott, Barbara Arnett and Mari Burris, all of Redmond; a sister, Nannette Edwards of Portland; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine, a sister and his parents.

Sarah Jane Hall

Sarah Jane Hall of Warm Springs died Tuesday of natural causes. She was 79.
A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today at Hi Lookee Lodge in Warm Springs.
Mrs. Hall was born March 28, 1924, in Danville, Ill., to William and Nora Adams. She married
Rufus Hall.
She worked as a waitress for Deschutes Crossing Restaurant.
Mrs. Hall enjoyed her work, dogs and her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Susie Smith of Warm Springs; a sister, June Sears of Madras; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and a sister.

Matthew Matt E. Richartz
Feb. 18, 1956 - May 29, 2003
Matthew Matt E. Richartz of Wilsonville died May 29. He was 47.
A service was held.
Mr. Richartz was born Feb. 18, 1956, in Eureka, Calif., to Walter and Sandra (Moore) Richartz. He was raised and attended schools in Klamath Falls. He attended Central Oregon Community College for two years. He earned a bachelors degree in humanities from Oregon College of Education in Monmouth. He married
Lisa Edgington on March 29, 2002, in Sonoma, Calif.
Mr. Richartz worked as a contract administrator and in marketing for Allied Systems in Sherwood. He later worked for Oregon Iron Works.
His hobbies included playing the guitar, restoring classic cars, traveling and playing golf. He also enjoyed music, bass fishing and duck and pheasant hunting.
Survivors include his wife of Wilsonville; stepdaughter, Danielle Crawford of Wilsonville; his mother, Sandra Hamilton of Sequim, Wash.; three brothers, Dan of Redmond, John of Portland and Mark Hamilton of Reno, Nev.; and a stepsister, Vickie Frazer of Tualatin.
