Tommy Lee Phillips
April 14, 1947 - July 29, 2004
Tommy Lee Phillips of Redmond died Thursday after a long illness. He was 57.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at Terrebonne Pioneer cemetery, Smith Rock Way in Terrebonne.
Mr. Phillips was born April 14, 1947, in Pendleton to Henry and Juanita (Bronson) Phillips. He was raised on the Umatilla Indian Reservation. He graduated from McEwen High School in Athena in 1966. He married
Gail Pickard on Sept. 2, 1970, in Walla Walla, Wash.
He served two tours in the Army in Vietnam and was an expert marksman. He received three purple hearts, the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Mr. Phillips worked on ranches and feed lots. He was also a rodeo competitor before joining Pozzi Windows. He retired in 2003.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and horses.
Survivors include his wife of Redmond; two sons, Jason of Salem and Beaudon of Redmond; a daughter, Misty Dunn of Redmond; a brother, Jerry of Enumclaw, Wash.; three sisters, Sue Rice of Hermiston, Kay Benthin of Adams and Tammy Schachtsick of Pendleton; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Richard Brandsma
Dec. 8, 1914 - July 29, 2004
Richard Brandsma of Bend died Thursday of natural causes. He was 89.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at Redmond Memorial cemetery.
Mr. Brandsma was born Dec. 8, 1914, in Doon, Iowa, to George and Susie (Haarsma) Brandsma. He married
Beryl Endicott on Dec. 31, 1948, in Reno, Nev.
He served in the Navy during World War II as Metalsmith 2nd Class on the U.S.S. Makassar in the Pacific.
Mr. Brandsma worked for Brooks-Scanlon Lumber as a timber faller for 40 years.
He enjoyed traveling the southwest in his motorhome, camping, fishing, working in his yard and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of Bend; two sons, Dennis of Eugene and Terry of John Day; a daughter, Jana Arbow of Bend; a sister, Dorothy Mitchell of Okmulgee, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

David 'Dave' John Gasiorowski

David "Dave" John Gasiorowski of Sisters died Monday in an automobile accident. He was 18.
A viewing will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 1, at Autumn Funeral Home in Bend. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Sisters. A graveside service will follow at noon at Pilot Butte cemetery.
David was born Oct. 1, 1985, in Milwaukee, Wis., to John and Victoria Gasiorowski. He was a student.
He enjoyed music, drama and break dancing.
Survivors include his parents of Sisters; four brothers, Aaron, Noah, Jordan and Eli, all of Sisters; a sister, Libbi of Sisters; and grandparents, June Pfeffer and Patsy Coffman, both of Sisters.

Randall Jay York
Sept. 6, 1959 - July 27, 2004
Randall Jay York of Bend died Tuesday of natural causes. He was 44.
A memorial service will be held at noon today, July 31, at Deschutes Memorial Gardens Chapel in Bend.

Eleanor Fellows
Dec. 19, 1921 - July 28, 2004
Eleanor Fellows of Bend died Wednesday of heart failure. She was 82.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. today, July 31, at Stone Lodge Chapel, 1460 NE 27th, in Bend.
Mrs. Fellows was born Dec. 29, 1921, in Indiana to Christian and Lisa (Clampitt) Scott. She married
Donald Fellows on Aug. 11, 1943, in Terre Haute, Ind.
She was a bookkeeper.
Mrs. Fellows was a former Southwest District president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was affiliated with the Community Theater of the Cascades. Mrs. Fellows enjoyed genealogy.
Survivors include her son, Donald Jr. of Bend; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.

Paul Alexander Wille
May 19, 1935 - July 28, 2004
Paul Alexander Wille of Bend died Wednesday. He was 69.
No services are planned.
Mr. Wille was born May 19, 1935, in Waukegan, Ill., to Alex and Hazel Wille. He attended college in Lake Forest, Ill., and the University of Chicago.
He served in the Navy for 23 years and was stationed in Vietnam and Europe.
He married
Frances Wille on July 13, 1963, in San Diego.
Mr. Wille worked as a lawyer in the military government.
He enjoyed traveling, fly fishing, hiking and playing the bassoon in the Central Oregon Symphony.
He lived in Bend for 22 years.
He is survived by his wife.

Jose Tavarez
May 27, 1965 - July 10, 2004
Jose Tavarez of Bend died July 10 of natural causes. He was 39.
A memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Hospice House in Bend.
Mr. Tavarez was born May 27, 1965, in El Paso, Texas, to Natividad and Delia (Acevas) Tavarez. He married
Joyce Rosa on April 27, 1989, in Hollister, Calif.
He was a glass worker at Pozzi Windows and also worked part time at U-Haul.
Mr. Tavarez enjoyed softball and mountain biking.
Survivors include his wife of Bend; two daughters, Candice and Misty of Bend; a brother, Norbert of Los Banos, Calif.; three sisters, Sonia Tavarez-Cross of Holister, Calif., and Delia and Aida, both of Morgan Hill, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his mother.

Robert Scott Haldorson
Feb. 28, 1983 - July 27, 2004
Robert Scott Haldorson of Bend died Tuesday of complications due to muscular dystrophy. He was 21.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31, at the Spiritual Awareness Center in Bend.
Mr. Haldorson was born Feb. 28, 1983, in Bend to Robert Whitson and Jamie Haldorson.
He attended high school.
Mr. Haldorson enjoyed music, video games, pro-wrestling and movies.
Survivors include his father; two brothers, John Whitson and Austin Reid; a sister, Amber Whitson; and his grandparents, Howard and Velma Whitson and Loris and Lynn Haldorson.
He was preceded in death by his mother.

Roger Allen Pickett
April 7, 1926 - July 25, 2004
Roger Allen Pickett of Bend died Sunday of natural causes. He was 78.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30, at Pilot Butte cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, at Discovery Christian Church in Bend.
Mr. Pickett was born April 7, 1926, in North Vernon, Indiana, to Maurice and Wilma (Pennington) Pickett.
He married
Barbara Hansson Pickett on April 10, 1994, in Tucson, Ariz.
Mr. Pickett worked as a certified public accountant and served in the Navy during World War II. He later worked as the general manager of Green Valley Water Company until his retirement in 1992.
His interests included fishing, reading and woodworking. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge and served as treasurer for C.M.F.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael Hopper of Indianapolis; Pastor Rodney Hopper of Rock Port, Mo., and Philip Tinsley of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Pamela Arlington of Avon, Ind., and Cheryl Sandoval of Dallas; a sister, Mary Miles of Brownston, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son.
