Everett 'Lee' LeRoy Goodrich
May 20, 1918 - Jan. 28, 2004
Everett "Lee" LeRoy Goodrich of Redmond died Wednesday of natural causes. He was 85.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31, at the Redmond Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Goodrich was born May 20, 1918, near Wagontire to Ariel and Helen (Decrow) Goodrich.
He moved with his family to Cloverdale when he was one and attended school in Cloverdale and Redmond High School.
Mr. Goodrich was a farmer. He worked on his family farm until 1971, then worked as a custom farmer until his retirement in the late 1980s.
Mr. Goodrich was a member of the Central Electric Co-Op board for 23 years. He was also a member of the Redmond School Board, the Federal Land Bank board, the Squaw Creek Irrigation board, the Redmond Grange, the Deschutes County Pioneer Club, a founding member of the Cloverdale Fire Department and a life member of the Redmond Masonic Lodge #154.
Mr. Goodrich enjoyed fishing, reading, Central Oregon history and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Judy of Redmond; and a sister, Ethel VanTassel of Redmond.
He was preceded in death by his brother, two sisters and his parents.

Melinda 'Mindy' Earl Chesney
May 26, 1931 - Jan. 21, 2004
Melinda "Mindy" Earl Chesney of Bend died Jan. 21 of a stroke. She was 72.
No services are planned per her request.
Mrs. Chesney was born May 26, 1931, in Los Angeles to Kenneth Taft and Melba (Beebe) Earl.
She was a retired escrow officer.
Mrs. Chesney was a member of the Episcopal Church and enjoyed genealogy, painting, poetry, reading, writing, nutrition and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her two sons, David Davidson and James, both of San Diego; three daughters, Linda Nielsen of Bend, Janet Jones of Harrisburg and Anita James of Pendleton; a sister, Barbara Graham of Long Beach, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Ruby (Dietz) Breshears
June 9, 1913 - Jan. 24, 2004
Ruby (Dietz) Breshears of Hubbard died Saturday. She was 90.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30 at Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel in Woodburn. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31 at Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Breshears was born June 9, 1913, in Quincy, Mo. She married
Jake Breshears on July 28, 1934, in Weaubleau, Mo.
Mrs. Breshears was a homemaker. She moved to Bend in 1949 and later to the Willamette Valley in 1961.
Mrs. Breshears was a member of the Goshen Primitive Baptist Church in Harper, Mo.
She enjoyed crocheting, reading, bird watching, collecting red birds, traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her seven sons, Belvard, Kenneth of Milwaukie, Gary and Terry, both of Hubbard, Dewey of Woodburn, John of Oregon City, and Allan of Elgin; four daughters, Helen Cuddeford and Alleen Doubrava, both of Hubbard, Judy Williams of Carlton and Betty Martin of Bend; a sister, Mildred of Clinton, Mo.; 35 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.

James C. Fleming Sr.
April 19, 1927 - Jan. 24, 2004
James C. Fleming Sr. of Bend died Saturday of natural causes. He was 76.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2 at the Bend Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Fleming was born April 19, 1927, in San Francisco to James and Lucy (Farnham) Fleming. He was raised and attended schools in Hillsboro.
Mr. Fleming served in the Merchant Marine during World War II. He married
Tracey Gabriel on Jan. 1, 1984, in Carson City, Nev.
Mr. Fleming moved to Bend in 1964. He worked for Miller Lumber for 22 years and then for Frontier Cash and Carry until his retirement in 1996.
Mr. Fleming was a life member of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, farming and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of Bend; a son, James Jr. of Fairbanks, Alaska; three daughters, Joan Gerke of Bend, Jean and Judy; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Des Chutes County Historical Society, the Bend Public Library or the charity of one's choice.

Jeanne Amanda Campbell
Feb. 26, 1917 - Jan. 25, 2004
Jeanne Amanda Campbell of Bend died Sunday of cancer. She was 86.
A private entombment will be held.
Mrs. Campbell was born Feb. 26, 1917, in Belle Vernon, Pa., to Edward and Nellie (Holden) Reppert.
She married
Reggie Campbell on July 26, 1937.
Mrs. Campbell and her husband owned and operated the Highlander Motel in La Pine from 1956 until their retirement in 1970.
She enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, rock hounding in the Southwest and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her two sons, Douglas and Malcolm; a brother, Bill Reppert; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Frances Estella Page
Nov. 24, 1906 - March 29, 2004
Frances Estella Page of Ridgefield, Wash., died Monday of natural causes. She was 97.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 5, at Juniper Haven cemetery in Prineville.
Mrs. Page was born Nov. 25, 1906, in Arcadio, Ohio to David and Martha (Jordan) Anderson. She grew up and attended school in Van Buren, Ohio. She married
M.L. Page in Bowling Green, Ky., and then moved to Dorris, Calif.
Mrs. Page moved to Bend in 1934 where she lived at a Brooks-Scanlon logging camp. She settled in Prineville in 1941 where she made her home for more than 60 years.
Mrs. Page was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prineville and enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Bowcutt of Ridgefield, Wash., two brothers, Earl Anderson of Findlay, Ohio and Bob Anderson of Klamath Falls; a sister, Arlowein Wise of Fort Wayne, Indiana; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Dorothy Jean Bacon
Jan. 5, 1921 - March 21, 2004
Dorothy Jean Bacon of Terrebonne died March 21 of natural causes. She was 83.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Bacon was born Jan. 5, 1921, in Hood River to John and Essie (Parker) Hugill. She married
Leland Bacon on June 14, 1940, in Vancouver, Wash.
Mrs. Bacon was a homemaker. She lived in Woodburn and owned a farm in Scott's Mill from 1956 to 1963. She then lived in Sweet Home and Salem before moving to Idaho in 1978. She settled in Redmond in 1991.
Her hobbies included traveling, crocheting, knitting and reading.
Survivors include her three sons, Ralph and Mark, both of Terrebonne and Lee of Sandpoint, Idaho; a daughter, Debra Hurlburt of Covington, Wash.; two brothers, John Hugill of Sun City, Ariz., and Jim Hugill of Mesa, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother and sister.

Garth Jenkins Undseth
April 13, 1977 - March 30, 2004
Garth Jenkins Undseth of Bend died Tuesday of natural causes. He was 26.
A celebration of life service was held.
Mr. Undseth was born April 13, 1977, in Indianapolis, Ind., to Charles and Barbara (Jenkins) Undseth.
He was a student at Central Oregon Community College.
Mr. Undseth enjoyed writing and art and had received numerous awards for his work.
He enjoyed motocross, music, fishing, camping and his dog.
Survivors include his parents of Bend; and a sister, Jaime of Arizona.

Katie Bell Castlebury Taylor
Oct. 9, 1914 - March 29, 2004
Katie Bell Castlebury Taylor of Camas, Wash., died Monday of natural causes. She was 89.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 3 at Silver Lake cemetery in Silver Lake.
Mrs. Taylor was born Oct. 9, 1914, in Paris, Texas. She married
Jewell Taylor on Aug. 12, 1938, in Durant, Okla.
Mrs. Taylor worked as a teacher at La Pine Elementary and attended the First Baptist Church in Crescent.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was a long-time resident of Crescent.
Survivors include her two daughters, Kay Briggman of Stockton, Calif., and Juleena Slaeser of Skamahia, Wash.; a brother, Travis Lawhon of Wright City, Okla.; a sister, Gladys King of Wright City, Okla.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
