Jodie Lynn Olsaver of La Pine died April 29. She was 49.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the La Pine Senior Center. Pastor Kevin Bryan will officiate.

Trini Arciaga
May 30, 1921 - May 29, 2002
Trini Arciaga of Bend died Wednesday of natural causes. He was 80.
A service will be held in California at a later date.
Mr. Arciaga was born May 30, 1921, in El Paso, Texas. He married
Joann Calagna in September 2000 in Los Angeles.
He served in the Marines during World War II.
Mr. Arciaga was a cement finisher. He lived most of his life in Los Angeles and moved to Bend in July 2001.
He enjoyed jazz music, baseball and boxing.
Survivors include his wife of Bend; a son, Michael of Los Angeles; two sisters, Hortense Rodriguez of South San Gabriel, Calif., and Margaret Kleeger of Montebello, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Garnet Pearl (Amack) Leas
April 9, 1915 - May 27, 2002
Garnet Pearl (Amack) Leas of Prineville died Monday of natural causes. She was 87.
Mrs. Leas was born April 9, 1915, in Hagler, Neb., to Robert and Ida Amack. She married
Richard W. Leas on July 13, 1934, in Peoria, Ill.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, swimming, watching basketball and NASCAR races.
Survivors include her four sons, Richard of Yakima, Wash., Abraham of Las Vegas, Frederick of Helmer, Idaho, and Wayne of New Mexico; four daughters, Mary Glass of Morton, Ill., Caroline Blankenship of Victorville, Calif., Marty Adams of Prineville and Janet Brown of California; two brothers, Eugene Amack of Hartonville, Ill., and Garnold Amack of Victorville, Calif.; 31 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons and her parents.

James Jim' Arthur Maddox
Feb. 22, 1935 - Oct. 5, 2002
James "Jim" Arthur Maddox of Bend died Saturday of Lou Gehrig's disease. He was 67.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. today at Niswonger, Reynolds and Tabor Chapel.
Mr. Maddox was born Feb. 22, 1935, in Bend to Ralph and Jaunita (Gentry) Maddox. He graduated from Bend High School in 1953.
He owned and operated Jim Maddox Chevron for 32 years. He also worked for the Bend Elks Lodge for 18 years.
Mr. Maddox was a lifelong member of the Elks Lodge. He was also a member of the Des Chutes County Historical Society, Swinging Mountaineers and past president and member of Bachelor Buttes Square Dance Association.
He enjoyed square dancing, gardening, backpacking, golfing and fishing. He was also a fan of the Trail blazers and OSU Beavers.
Survivors include his companion, Bonny Larsen of Bend; five sons, Jim of Concord, Calif., and Jeff, Jerry, Steve McGinnis and Pat McGinnis, all of Bend; two brothers, Edward of Bend and William of Portland; a sister, Patricia Welbourn of Bend; 12 grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Verda, and his parents.

Mary A. (Winningham) Davis-Pearson
March 29, 1909 - Oct. 5, 2002
Mary A. (Winningham) Davis-Pearson of Redmond died Saturday of natural causes. She was 93.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Redmond Memorial cemetery.
Mrs. Davis-Pearson was born March 29, 1909, in Rochester, Texas to George and Lucy (Stapp) Winningham. She married
Sanderson Davis in 1926 in Roswell, N.M. The couple moved to Sisters in 1963.
She moved to Redmond in 1970 and married
Melvin Pearson in 1976.
Mrs. Davis-Pearson was affiliated with the Christian Church of Redmond.
She enjoyed reading and church activities. She also liked to crochet.
Survivors include her two sons, Wayne Davis and Carrol Davis both of Redmond; one daughter, Sandra Norris of Bend; 11 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, a son, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Marilyn Ann (McLain) Bigelow
Sept. 2, 1929 - Oct. 4, 2002
Marilyn Ann (McLain) Bigelow of Pilot Rock died Friday. She was 73.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Prineville and at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Community Presbyterian Church in Pilot Rock.
Mrs. Bigelow was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Rio Oso, Calif., to Frank and Hallie (Horswill) McLain. She graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1946 and from Oregon State University in 1950 with a degree in Physical Education. She married
Richard Bigelow on July 9, 1950.
Mrs. Bigelow and her husband lived in several Central Oregon cities before moving to Pilot Rock in 1996. She was a physical education teacher at Bend, Redmond and Garibaldi elementary schools.
She loved horses and was an award-winning competitive rider. She served as princess and queen on the Calapooia Roundup Courts. And as princess on the Oregon State College Rodeo Court during her college years.
Mrs. Bigelow enjoyed knitting and she was recognized by Eastmoreland Hospital in Portland for her contributions of handmade booties, caps and socks.
She was affiliated with First Baptist Church in Prineville, Paulina Community Church, Friendship Baptist Church in Heppner and Malheur Butte Church in Ontario. She also participated in the women's missionary circles of her churches.
Survivors include her husband of Pilot Rock; two sons, Clive of Sisters and Darryl of Portland; two daughters, Elly Reynolds of Gresham and Carol Thompson of Oregon City; two brothers, Frank McLain of Mehama and Clyde McLain Sr. of Brownsville; one sister, Hallie Luginsland of Lynnwood, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and two grandchildren.

Evelyn Dorothy (Clark) Broadwater of Prineville died Sunday of natural causes. She was 81.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Prineville Funeral Home's Heritage Chapel.
Mrs. Broadwater was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Hillsboro to Lee and Ann (Stoltenberg) Clark. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1939. She then graduated from Good Samaritan Nursing School in Portland. She married
Thurman Broadwater in Hillsboro.
She was a registered nurse and worked at Jones Hospital in Hillsboro.
Mrs. Broadwater was affiliated with the Red Cross Blood Bank in Prineville. She was a Campfire Girls Community Director for several years.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, cake decorating, gardening and reading.
Survivors include her husband of Prineville; one son, David of Merced, Calif.; two daughters, Anne Mauger of Seattle and Mary Jo Todd of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Merna 'Marie' Loebb Ward

Merna "Marie" Loebb Ward of La Pine died Friday of natural causes. She was 80.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Deschutes Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Ward was born March 4, 1922, in Strawn, Pa. She married
T.O. Ward on Oct. 10, 1948.
She was a retired licensed practical nurse.
Mrs. Ward was affiliated with the Church of Christ. She was president of the LVN Nursing Association in California for several years.
Her interests included camping and fishing. She also enjoyed Boston Bull Terriers.
Survivors include her husband of La Pine; one daughter, Carroll Enrich of Bend; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, her parents, a brother and three grandchildren.
