Robert 'Bob' Ernest Mitchell
Aug. 19, 1923 - March 17, 2001
Robert 'Bob' Ernest Mitchell of Bend died of natural causes Saturday. He was 77.
At his request, a service will not be held.
Mr. Mitchell was born Aug. 19, 1923, in Morenci, Ariz., to Gerald and Katarina Mitchell.
He served in the Army from 1943 to 1946 in the Pacific, Guadalcanal and Leyte Gulf.
Mr. Mitchell was an electrical engineer until his retirement in 1989. He was an early pioneer in radar and sonar systems, and he held numerous patents for electronic and agricultural equipment. He was a former president of OECO in Portland, a manufacturer of electronic components, including components used during Apollo lunar missions. He also was a former president of Mitchell & Mitchell, designers and suppliers of electronic components to the RV industry.
He moved to Bend in 1994 to be near his daughter and two grandchildren.
Mr. Mitchell was a member of the UC Berkeley School of Engineering Alumni Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Episcopal Church. He also was a chartered lifetime member of OMSI, and a Mountain View High School sports and music supporter.
He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman and was interested in the geology of Central Oregon.
Survivors include five daughters, Robin Schader and Barbara Mitchell, both of Willington, Conn., Kathy Mitchell of Medford, Nancy Spreier of Bend and Deborah Porter of Portland; one son, Robert Mitchell Jr. of Portland; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ruth Pearson.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Central Oregon or the World War II Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Robert T. Curry
Feb. 26, 1932 - March 16, 2001
Robert T. Curry of Bend died of cancer Friday. He was 69.
A private service will be held.
Mr. Curry was born Feb. 26, 1932, in Portland.
He served in the Coast Guard.
He married
Raedene Weller on Jan. 21, 1956.
Mr. Curry owned a construction and land-development business.
Survivors include his wife, Raedene of Bend; two sons, Charlie of Bend and Michael of Gresham; and two daughters, Leslie Russell of Bend and Kathy Curry of Los Angeles.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Bend-La Pine.

Harry James Rodgers
Sept. 11, 1921 - March 14, 2001
Harry James Rodgers of Bend died of natural causes March 14. He was 79.
No service will be held.
Mr. Rodgers was born Sept. 11, 1921, in North Dakota. He moved to Seaside at an early age.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
He married
Marianne McKay.
Mr. Rodgers worked as a plumber and steamfitter before his retirement. He also had owned a hobby shop when he was 15 years old.
He moved to La Pine in 1976 and to Bend in 1998.
Mr. Rodgers was a member of the American Legion of La Pine Post No. 0045. He also was a 50-year life member of the United Association of Journeymen & Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry.
Survivors include one daughter, Gayle of Seattle; two sisters; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and one son, Richard.

Eddle Gayholt
Aug. 19, 1910 - March 16, 2001
Eddle Gayholt of Redmond died of cancer Friday at a Redmond assisted-living facility. He was 90.
Memorial services were held Tuesday at Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Redmond and at Brookside House.
Mr. Gayholt was born Aug. 19, 1910, in Pennsylvania. He lived in Nevada and California before moving to Ashland in 1979. He moved to Prineville in the 1980s and to Redmond 10 years later.
He worked as a journeyman floor coverer.
Mr. Gayholt was a member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church and Oregon State Grange, Redmond Grange No. 812.
He enjoyed the theater and directed children's theater in California and Oregon. He also enjoyed reading, sitting in the sun, and visiting people. He also enjoyed jogging and had jogged from Prineville to Redmond until 1985.
Survivors include one daughter, Belinda Parcell of Redmond; and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Forest Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund, Box 297, Redmond, 97756.

Stella Marie(Wylam) Larson
Sept. 26, 1924 - March 15, 2001
Stella Marie (Wylam) Larson of Redmond died March 15 at Central Oregon Community Hospital. She was 76.
There will be a Catholic service and celebration announced at a later date.
Mrs. Larson was born Sept. 26, 1924, in Hoquiam, Wash., to Frank and Martha (Kerr) Wylam. She was raised in the Hoquiam and Centralia, Wash., areas.
She married
George Larson on Sept. 11, 1947, in Centralia.
They moved to Southern California in 1951 and to Redmond in 1993.
Mrs. Larson was president of the Mother's Club of Delta Delta Delta Sorority at California State University at Northridge. She also was a volunteer at Grenada Hills Convalescent Hospital. She was active in charitable institutions.
She enjoyed her home and family, reading and baking.
Survivors include her husband, George of Redmond; one daughter, Annie Winstead of Powell Butte; three sons, John of Grenada Hills, Calif., James of Canoga Park, Calif., and Thomas of Glendale, Ariz.; five sisters, Ann Berg of Olympia, Wash., Martha Arney of Redmond, Wash., Marjorie O'Keefe of New York, Susan Pospisil of Boring and Betty Bullock of Lacey, Wash.; one brother, Fred Wylam of Centralia; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.

Josephine (Hedstrom) Triplett

Josephine (Hedstrom) Triplett of Prineville died Monday. She was 90.
No service will be held.
Mrs. Triplett was born Jan. 30, 1911, in Adams County, Iowa.
She was a housewife who liked to crochet. Mrs. Triplett moved to Prineville six months ago after living 15 years in Vancouver, Wash.
Survivors include one daughter, Doris Madden of Prineville; two sisters, Deloris Wilcox of Vancouver, and Betty Block of Mesa, Ariz.; and one grandchild.

Mauretta May (Johnson) Taylor
Jan. 28, 1930 - March 17, 2001
Mauretta May (Johnson) Taylor of Black Butte Ranch died of cancer Saturday at St. Charles Medical Center. She was 71.
No formal service will be held.
Mrs. Taylor was born Jan. 28, 1930, in Kelso, Wash., to Bertle and Gladys (Boone) Johnson. She also was raised in Kelso.
She married
Al Taylor on Dec. 27, 1950, in Kelso.
They lived in Beaverton for 34 years and moved to Black Butte Ranch in 1998.
Mrs. Taylor assisted her husband in running Al Taylor's Tire Factory in Portland.
She enjoyed outdoor activities such as tennis, hiking and observing nature. She also enjoyed her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Al of Black Butte Ranch; one son, John of Spotsylvania, Va.; one daughter, Jane Taylor Schell of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one sister, Betty Hoffman of Sitka, Alaska; one brother, Robert Johnson of Vancouver, Wash.; and three grandchildren.

Suzanne M. McMillan
Feb. 18, 1911 - March 17, 2001
Suzanne M. McMillan died of natural causes Saturday at St. Charles Medical Center. She was 90.
The graveside service was held today at Pilot Butte cemetery.
Mrs. McMillan was born Feb. 18, 1911, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Milton and Helen (Conner) Parcels.
She married
Charles McMillan and he died in 1961. She moved to Bend in 1980 to be near her daughters.
Mrs. McMillan was a cosmetologist early in her life and then went to work for the IRS, from which she retired in 1980.
She was an active member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of the Relief Society, the librarian for many years at the church and active in genealogy.
Mrs. McMillan enjoyed playing Nintendo.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara McMillan and Annabelle Wolfick, both of Bend; one son, Jack of Lynwood, Calif.; a sister, Annabelle Hodnett of Encinitas, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
