Margaret Lucille (Powell) Eriksen
Dec. 4, 1915 - March 17, 2001
Margaret Lucille (Powell) Eriksen of Bend died of natural causes at her home March 17. She was 85.
The rosary will be said at 10:40 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Catholic Center on 27th Street in Bend, with a memorial service following there. The Rev. Brian McKenna will officiate. Interment was held Wednesday at Pilot Butte cemetery.
Mrs. Eriksen was born Dec. 4, 1915, in Flagstaff, Ariz. She attended Kenwood Elementary School and graduated from Bend High School.
After graduation, she worked as a bookkeeper for several Bend businesses, including Anderson Nash Dealer and Eddie Williamson Sales & Service. She was co-owner and bookkeeper, with her husband, of Eriksen's Stationery.
She married
Albert Eriksen on Feb. 14, 1962.
Mrs. Eriksen was a member of the St. Francis parish, volunteered for the Red Cross bloodmobile and was a supporter of the continued growth at St. Charles Medical Center.
She also was an advocate for Bend.
Mrs. Eriksen enjoyed trips to the Oregon coast and visiting her family.
Survivors include one stepson, Gard of Black Butte Ranch; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, Ignatius 'Tom' and Mary Seitz Powell; three brothers, Tho-mas, Robert and Edward Powell; and one sister, Catherine Trelease.
In lieu of flowers ,memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Bend-La Pine, St. Charles Foundation or to a charity of one's choice.

Betty 'Euthene' Hamilton
March 15, 1932 - March 22, 2001
Betty 'Euthene' Hamilton of Prineville died of cancer Thursday. She was 69.
The viewing will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Monday at Autumn Funerals in Redmond. The service will follow Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Juniper Haven cemetery in Prineville.
Mrs. Hamilton was born to Thad and Edith Fern Compelube in McCallister, Okla., on March 15, 1932.
She moved to Cottage Grove in 1979 and to Prineville in 1989.
Mrs. Hamilton was employed as a maid in hotels.
She enjoyed Indian art work, flowers, cooking and collecting family pictures.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret DeGarlais of Prineville; two sons, Norman Zack of Fresno, Calif., and Gene Zack of Prineville; her mother, Edith DeGarlais of Prineville; one brother, Frank Compelube of Fresno; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and one younger brother, Robert Olds.

L. Keith Shirley Sr.
July 7, 1925 - March 23, 2001
L. Keith Shirley Sr. of Bend died of natural causes Friday. He was 75.
The viewing will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. today at Autumn Funerals in Redmond.
The service will follow at 1 p.m. Monday at Redmond Memorial cemetery.
Mr. Shirley was born to Willard Clark and Mary Louise (Russell) Shirley in Clinton, Ind., on July 7, 1925.
He served in the Navy during World War II and received the Navy Cross.
He played for a triple-A baseball team in Chicago.
Mr. Shirley was a salesman for Monsanto Plastics and was medically retired at 54.
He was a Mason with dual membership with Redmond Masonic Lodge No. 154 and the Masonic Lodge in Clinton. He was a 32nd-degree Mason.
Mr. Shirley was a Shriner, as well as a member and Sunday school teacher of First Baptist Church in Clinton.
He lived in California and Portland before moving to La Pine in 1978 and to Bend in 1996.
Mr. Shirley enjoyed fishing, baseball, bowling, golfing and watching sports.
Survivors include three daughters, Ardith Jill Shirley of Gresham, Jacqueline K. Shirley of Bend, and Laurie A. Will-iams of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; three sons, Robert Mason Shirley of Tucson, Ariz., L. Keith Shirley II of La Pine, and Steven Clark Shirley of Bend; and 17 grandchildren.
Mr. Shirley was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jeff Shirley.

John H. Nissen
May 16, 1927 - March 22, 2001
John H. Nissen of Prineville died of natural causes Thursday. He was 73.
The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Prineville.
Mr. Nissen was born May, 16, 1927, in Davenport, Iowa.
He served in the Merchant Marines from 1943 to 1945 in the South Pacific.
Mr. Nissen married
Dorothy Tuftee on Sept. 14, 1949, in Dewitt, Iowa.
He worked for Douglas Aircraft and North American Rockwell on the Apollo Program in Southern California.
Mr. Nissen and his wife moved to Lebanon in 1972, where he worked as a machinist. He retired in 1989.
He and his wife moved to Prineville in 1999, where he volunteered with a hospice and Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Jo-Ann Horton of Prineville; one son, Jerry Nissen of Lebanon; one sister, Anna Marie Juergensen of Lebanon, Mo.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter.

Andre Lee Tababoo
Aug. 11, 1953 - March 20, 2001
Andre Lee Tababoo of Madras died of heart failure Tuesday. He was 47.
A private family gathering will be held.
Mr. Tababoo was born Aug. 11, 1953, in Warm Springs. He graduated from Culver High School.
He worked as a bartender at Gateway Inn in Culver. He also looked after his mother.
Mr. Tababoo enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include his mother, Orena Bone of Culver; two brothers, Kenneth Tababoo and Tracy Bone, both of Portland; and one sister, Denise Tababoo of Sellersville, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Ernest C. Skees
June 7, 1916 - March 20, 2001
Ernest C. Skees, a longtime Redmond resident, died of cancer Tuesday at his home in Terrebonne. He was 84.
The celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Autumn Funerals at 485 NW Larch Ave. in Redmond. Private burial will be at Redmond Memorial cemetery.
Mr. Skees was born June 7, 1916, in Monmouth, Ill., to John and Bessie May (Skirt) Skees.
He married
Ethel Peterson on Oct. 13, 1960, in Monmouth. She preceded him in death.
They moved to Redmond in 1969.
Mr. Skees owned and operated restaurants in Redmond such as first, The Truck Stop, then The Hub, and last, Ernie's Restaurant.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing and cooking. He also enjoyed people and his grandchildren.
Survivors include onedaughter, Terry Shamblin of Reno, Nev.; one son, Ike of Monmouth; and six grandchildren.

Nadine Louise (Pepin) Duff
May 11, 1932 - March 21, 2001
Nadine Louise (Pepin) Duff of Milwaukie died Wednesday. She was 68.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Milwaukie Elks Lodge. A private service will be held at Willamette National cemetery before the memorial service.
Mrs. Duff was born May 11, 1932, to Obert and Trilby Pepin. She graduated from Bend High School in 1950. She married
John Francis Duff. He preceded her in death after 32 years of marriage.
They moved to Milwaukie to raise their family.
Mrs. Duff enjoyed supporting family activities, traveling and dancing. She was also an Oregon State University Beavers fan.
Survivors include one son, Randall; one daughter, Nancy Traver; her loving companion of 14 years, Everett Wright; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the OSU Athletic Department or to the Elks Children's Eye Bank, c/o Milwaukie Elks Lodge.
