William L. Leemaster
March 4, 1926 - Feb. 26, 2001
William Loren Leemaster, 74, died Monday at the Mennonite Home.
He was born in Toledo, Ohio to Leo and Mildred (Lysinger) Leemaster. He was an electrician's mate on LSTs in the Navy during World War II in Europe, Africa and the Mideast.
He married
Carrie Leemaster Dec. 3, 1954, in Jefferson. He retired from Ore-Met in 1989 after 31 years.
He was a reserve deputy for the Linn County Sheriff's Office from 1966-73.
He enjoyed going to Pioneer Villa to have coffee with friends. He liked panning for gold, shooting, carpentry, horseback riding and model aircraft building. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife; son William of Shedd; daughters Joni Martin and Lauren Ivers of Albany; sisters Barbara Young of Olympia and Alice Goodrich of Eagle Point; and nine grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Jefferson cemetery with Pastor Scott Waite officiating.

Stanton Leaming

Former Corvallis resident Stanton Leaming died Monday in Salem. He was 82.
Born in York, Neb., Mr. Leaming married
his first wife, Laura Leaming in October 1941. She died in 1970, and in 1972 he married
Phyllis Leaming. She died in November 1987, and in September 1988, he married
Martha Leaming, who survives.
From 1941 to 1944, Mr. Leaming was employed at Lockhead Aircraft.
Mr. Leaming served in World War II in the European Theater, where he was wounded and subsequently received the Purple Heart. He was also awarded the ETO ribbon with two battle stars and a combat infantry badge.
After the war, he lived briefly in Los Angeles before moving to Corvallis in 1946. He retired as a press operator from Evans Hardboard Products in 1981, and moved to Salem in 1988.
He enjoyed traveling, square dancing, fishing and family gatherings. He was a member of the Machinists Union and was a past member of the Corvallis Elks. He belonged to the Spinning Antlers in Corvallis and the Golden Squares in Woodburn. He was also a member of the Parkinson's Support Group of Salem.
Mr. Leaming was a past member of the First Baptist Church in Corvallis and at the time of his death was a member of Trinity Covenant Church in Salem.
He is survived by daughters Ruth Glass of Aloha, and Nyla Bell of Billings, Mont.; son Lyle Leaming of Albany, and Gary Leaming of Medford; six grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, at the Virgil T. Golden Funeral Chapel, with a reception following at the First Baptist Church in Corvallis at 3 p.m. Private interment will be at Twin Oaks Memorial Park in Albany.

Mary Bosshart Poole

Mary Bosshart Poole, 93, formerly of Albany, died in her home on Sunday in Tucson, Ariz.
She was an associate professor in the home economics department at Oregon State University.
Survivors are son H. John Poole; daughter Mary Molina; grandsons Bill Molina; and sister Lee Bosshart.
Contributions in her name may be made to the United Presbyterian Pre-School Child Care program of a charity of choice for children.
John R. Pryor

JEFFERSON - John Richard Pryor, 75, of Jefferson died Monday at Albany General Hospital.
He was born in Warroad, Minn., to John and Magnhild (Steen) Pryor.
He grew up in Warroad and attended schools there. After serving during World War II from 1944-46 in the Army, he moved to Corvallis and attended Oregon State University. He worked for Steen Brothers Meat Packing, which was owned by his uncles.
Mr. Pryor married
Ruth Simmons on June 1, 1973, in Jefferson.
He moved to Albany about 1950 and to Jefferson in 1961. He was a foreman at Wah Chang in the ammonia recovery department.
He had his pilot's license and flying was his primary hobby. He also enjoyed gardening. He was a member of the American Legion in Albany and the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife Ruth; stepsons Bill and Michael Simmons, both of Union, Wash.; stepdaughters Terri Wheeler of Shelton, Wash., and Jana Larson of Lincoln City; brothers Charles Pryor of Warroad and Gordon Pryor of St. Paul, Minn.; sisters Beverly Corliss of Corvallis, Marlene Anderson of Grand Rapids, Minn., Martha Pryor of Fairbanks, Ala., and Dorothy Pryor of Warroad; 12 step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Peterson officiating. Contributions may be made to SafeHaven Humane Society in care of Fisher Funeral Home.
Earl Dean Fielder
May 18, 1932 - Feb. 26, 2001
Earl Dean Fielder, 68, of Albany, died Monday at his home.
He was born in Holdenville, Okla., to William C. and Ruby (Fisher) Fielder. He was raised in Delano, Calif., and at age 18, joined the Air Force, where he served for four years, including time in England.
In 1953, Mr. Fielder moved to Newark, Calif., where he met his future wife, Peggy. They moved to Haward, Calif., after they were married
August 12, 1955. It was there that they bought their first house. In 1958, they moved to the Bellfountain area, and then moved to Albany in 1993.
Mr. Fielder worked as a carpenter at Wah Chang for 22 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He loved to shoot pool with his buddies from Wah Chang.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Ann of Albany; sons John of Vancouver, Wash., and Rick of Monroe; daughter Sandy A. Sonne of Albany; mother Ruby; brothers Jim, Mike and Ron; and 11 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Benton Hospice, in care of Fisher Funeral Home, P.O. Box 156, Albany, Ore. 97321.
Vera Mae Adams

CORVALLIS - Corvallis resident Vera Mae Adams died Tuesday at Corvallis Manor. She was 79.
Mrs. Adams was born in Jackson County, Mo., to Sherman and Nellie (Kemp) Wright.
She is survived by daughter Diana Scribner of Corvallis; sons Donald Keith Reid of Assumption, Ill., Marvin Alan Boyd of Queen Charlotte City, British Columbia, and Dennis M. Reid of Dayton, Ohio; and grandchildren Robin and Roy of Corvallis, and Angela, Wendy, Eric, Shari, and Morgan.
Husband Robert Adams and grandson Michael died earlier.
A family gathering will be held at a later date in Moweaqua, Ill. Inurnment will be held at Moweaqua cemetery. DeMoss-Durdan Garden Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Thomas Jackson
June 28, 1922 - March 13, 2001
Thomas Bailey Jackson, 78, of Albany died Tuesday at Timberview Care Center.
Mr. Jackson was born in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and attended schools in Hilt, Calif., and Seaside. A member of the Seaside High School track team, he earned medals and awards, including in the 440 and 880 distance runs. He graduated from high school in 1939.
Mr. Jackson served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, and was discharged as a second lieutenant. From 1960 to 1962, he was a captain in the Army Reserves.
He earned a bachelor's degree in forest engineering from Oregon State University in 1949. He worked in the lumber and timber industry and in 1954, with two associates, formed Gibson, Jackson and Prochnau of Albany, a forestry and surveying consulting firm. It still exists as Jackson and Prochnau.
Mr. Jackson owned and managed Hub City Concrete from 1958 until 1977, when he decided to attend law school in Puget Sound. He managed Surelock Storage until 1999, when he became fully retired.
Mr. Jackson was active in the community and served on the Albany District 5 and Linn-Benton I.E.D. school boards. He was on the Albany Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Directors of the Oregon Concrete and Agregate Producers Association.
He was past president of the Albany Rotary Club, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Jackson was an avid skier and enjoyed sharing the sport with his family.
Surviving are wife Katherine; daughters Carolyn Sturgill of Roseburg, Julie Burns of Portland and Trish Hultberg of Albany; son Bruce of Bothell, Wash.; brother Brian; and nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home, with the Rev. Sharon Edwards officiating.
