Barbara Ann Rutledge

Longtime Gresham resident Barbara Ann Rutledge, 56, died Thursday, May 3, in Portland.
A Memorial Mass was said Tuesday, May 8, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Gresham. A private interment took place at Willamette National cemetery in Portland.
She was born in Portland to Leland and Naomi Leighton. She graduated from Milwaukie High School before attending Oregon State and Portland State universities. On June 12, 1965, she married
Richard Rutledge in Milwaukie.
She worked as a homemaker while living in various places abroad because of her husband's job. She lived in Germany before moving to Gresham in 1979.
She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and was involved in activities and groups at the church. She helped organize the joint Sunday school with St. Henry and Trinity Lutheran Church. She volunteered at soup kitchens and started a cancer recovery group at the church.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Rae Ann Colleen Patikas of Wenatchee, Wash., and Renee Kathleen Rutledge and Rose Lynn Marie Rutledge of Gresham; sons, Richard Rutledge of Canby and Leland Robert Rutledge of Gresham; parents, of Milwaukie; brother, Gary Leighton of Seaside; sister, Birdie Lee Etchison of Long Beach, Wash.; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made in her name to St. Vincent de Paul. Bateman Carroll Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Shannon D. Speciale McAlevy

Gresham resident Shannon D. Speciale McAlevy, 51, died Sunday, Nov. 26, of cancer at her home.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at Smith Memorial Presbyterian Church 2420 N.E. Fairview Ave., Fairview. Private interment will be at Willamette National cemetery in Portland.
She was born in Corvallis to John and Marjorie O'Rourke. She graduated from Marshall High School in Portland. She worked the last 20 years at Providence Medical Center in various clerical positions. She was an avid collector of refrigerator dishes and Irish Belleek. She married
Ian G. McAlevy on June 26, 1999.
Survivors include her husband; son, Sean C. Speciale of Portland; sister, Sharon Sugden of Estacada and Sheila O'Rourke of Portland; brother, Sean O'Rourke of Portland; and parents, John and Marjorie O'Rourke of Portland.

Eddy Karl Pyle
Aug. 8, 1955-Sept. 9, 2000
Troutdale resident Eddy K. Pyle, 45, died Saturday, Sept. 9.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Disposition was by cremation.
He was born in Hood River to William and Etolia Pyle. He was raised in Hood River and moved to Troutdale in 1977. He worked as a welder for Freightliner Corp. until he became disabled following an injury. He enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include two children; father, William Pyle of Troutdale; brother, Jerry Pyle of Troutdale; and sister, Urena Vassar of Memphis, Tenn.

Robert Vernon Enloe
Aug. 13, 1939-May 3, 2001
Gresham resident Robert Vernon Enloe, 61, died Thursday, May 3.
A graveside military honor was held Tuesday, May 8, at Willamette National cemetery in Portland.
He was born in Kansas City, Mo., to George and Frances Enloe. He served in the Army for 28 years, retiring in 1980 as a sergeant first class. He served in the infantry in Vietnam, Korea and Germany and was a drill instructor in various locations in the United States.
After retiring, he lived in St. Helens and Astoria. He moved to Gresham in 1990. On May 5, 1962, he married
Carol Fredricks in Sacramento, Calif.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Theresa Enloe and Kathleen Wolf of Gresham; son, Robert Enloe of Gresham; brothers, Kenny and Byron Enloe of Kansas City, Mo.; and four grandchildren.

Lillian Holmes
Aug. 27, 1914-Oct. 23, 2000
Longtime Gresham and Boring resident Lillian Elaine Holmes, 86, died Monday, Oct. 23, at her home.
At her request, private family services were held.
She was born in Portland to Ethel and Al Franklin. She was raised and educated in Portland, where she attended the former Girls Polytechnic High School. She married
Vern Bjur on Aug. 11, 1935, in Gresham. They lived in Whidbey Island, Wash., from 1947 to 1963, when they moved to the Gresham and Boring areas. She was a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Bjur Electric in Gresham. Her husband died in 1977. She married
William Holmes in 1978.
She was preceded in death by her second husband in 1989. Survivors include her daughters, Karen Norden of Baker City and Julie Bjur of Boring; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Betty Evelyn Pettit
Aug. 3, 1925-Sept. 11, 2000
East Multnomah County resident Betty E. Pettit, 75, died Monday, Sept. 11, in Clackamas.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Rockwood United Methodist Church, 17805 S.E. Stark St., Portland. Disposition was by cremation with inurnment at Willamette National cemetery in Portland.
She was born in Pryor, Okla., to John and Inez Tennant. She moved to Oklahoma City at age 3 and later worked as an accounting clerk for APCO Oil.
On Dec. 1, 1962, she married
Arthur Pettit at Rockwood United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the church for 38 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and was a volunteer for Loaves and Fishes for 25 years. She enjoyed golf and bowling.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Roy Pettit of Hood River, Gregory Pettit of Aloha and Jeffrey Pettit of Forest Grove; daughters, Cheryl Stewart of Quemendo, N.M., and Karla Pettit of Portland; and nine grandchildren.

Irvin Fred McClain Sr.
June 15, 1937-Nov. 27, 2000
Corbett resident Irvin F. McClain Sr., 63, died Monday, Nov. 27, in Gresham.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Bridal Veil Community Church, off exit 28 on Interstate 84.
He was born in Tillamook to Erton and Viola McClain. He was raised and educated in Tillamook, transfering to Sandy High School his senior year. He worked for body shops and wrecking yards before moving to Corbett in 1973. He worked for Hyster as a mechanic in the research and development area until retiring in February 1997.
He served in the Army Reserve for nine years and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed collecting and refurbishing classic firearms, hunting, fishing and computers.
On Oct. 31, 1965, he married
Lora Anne Barone in Reno, Nev.
Survivors include his wife; sons, Colin McClain of Fairview and Irvin F. McClain Jr. of Virginia Beach, Va.; daughters, Elizabeth McClain of Portland and Melissa McClain of Corbett; brothers, Bill McClain of Tillamook and Jerry McClain of Madras; and three grandchildren.

Ann A. Swartout
Ann A. Swartout of Gleneden Beach, died Friday, May 16, 2003 in Newport. She was 57 years old.
Ann was born Nov. 7, 1945 in New York City to Frederick and Jane Romano Schilling. She married
Lee Swartout in October of 1965.
Ann was a wonderful wife and mother, amazingly helpful and positive person, and loved by many. She worked as a realtor.
Surviving are her husband, Lee Swartout of Gleneden Beach; sons Hugh Swartout of Gleneden Beach and Victor Swartout of Lincoln City; daughter-in-law Lexi Swartout of Lincoln City; granddaughter MacKenzie Swartout of Lincoln City; a sister, Mary Jane Shankland or Ormond, Beach, Fla. Her parents preceded her in death.
At the decedent’s request no services will be held.
