Barbara Myrtice Fisher
Barbara Myrtice Fisher, 88, a former resident of The Dalles, died
at the hospital in Prineville on Friday, April 2, 2004.
She was born
August 26, 1915, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Thomas Elijah and Inez May (Randall) Harvey.
She was raised in Portland, where she graduated from Jefferson High School; she lived in Portland until 1957.
She moved and lived in The Dalles until 2000, when she moved to Prineville.
Mrs. Fisher enjoyed her family, gardening, fishing and reading.
She is survived by her daughter, Judee, and her husband, Ed Hagen, Prineville; her granddaughter, Toni Hagen and her sister, Melba Schulte, Olympia, Wash.
At her request, there will be no public services. Private cremation was held at The Dalles Winquatt Crematory with Smith Callaway Chapel in care of arrangements.

Helen Louise Brown
Helen Louise Brown, 81, a resident of The Dalles, died
at a local care facility Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004.
She was born
May 20, 1922, in Sterling, Colo., the youngest of six children to Harry F. and Elsie May (York) O’Neal.
She was raised and married
Rahlon O. Brown in Sterling on July 20, 1952.
They lived there until moving to The Dalles in 1955.
She was a charter member of Gateway Presbyterian Church and enjoyed homemaking and sewing.
Helen is survived by her husband, Rahlon, The Dalles; her sister, Maxine O’Neal Hamilton, Tulsa, Okla.; her brother, Hugh N. O’Neal, Ft. Lupton, Colo.; several nieces and nephews; great and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by her sister, Annabelle O’Neal Delaney and her brothers, Lloyd “Bus” O’Neal and S.F. “Babe” O’Neal.
Graveside services will be held at The Dalles Three Mile Road Odd Fellows Cemetery, formerly known as Parklawn Cemetery
on Friday, March 5, at 2 p.m. Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home is in care of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
Mary Sigman Hunt
Mary Sigman Hunt, 96, a resident of The Dalles, died
at the local hospital Tuesday, June 1, 2004.
She was born
Jan. 28, 1908, in Dufur, the third of four children to Melvin and Eva (Vanderpool) Sigman.
She was raised in Dufur and graduated from Dufur High School in the Class of 1924.
After high school, she attended Oregon State University and transferred to Oregon Normal School, in Monmouth, where she graduated with her teaching certificate in elementary education in 1927.
She began teaching at Tygh Ridge, Rail Hollow and Colonel Wright Schools.
She taught for ten years and married
James A. Hunt on January 21, 1936, on the family ranch in Dufur and lived in Dufur where they operated a trucking business until 1947.
They then bought a ranch and operated both until 1950, at which time they sold the trucking business and became full-time farmers raising wheat and cattle.
After the children were older, she began to teach in Dufur for ten more years and retired in 1963.
She sold the ranch when her husband, James, died
and moved to The Dalles in the late 1960’s.
She was a member of the Methodist Church in Dufur, was active with The Dalles Country Club and Wasco County Fair.
She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge and pinochle.
She is survived by her son, James M. Hunt, The Dalles; her daughter, Judy and her husband, Doug Sawtell, Sandy; four grandchildren, Marti Hunt, Sherwood; Rich Hunt, Dufur; Susan Dahrens, Gresham; and Jim Sawtell, Sandy; one great-granddaughter, Ashley Dahrens, Gresham; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death
by her husband, James, in November 1967, her granddaughter, Jill Sawtell, in 1967, two brothers, George and Wayne Sigman and her sister, Evelyn Underhill.
Graveside services will be held at The Dalles Odd Fellows Cemetery
on Three Mile Road, formerly Parklawn Cemetery, on Saturday, June 5, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Holland officiating.

James Michael ‘Mike’ Jensen
James Michael “Mike” Jensen, 51, a resident of The Dalles, died
Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at his home following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He had walked in last year’s Relay
For Life event on the survivors’ team and had hoped to attend this year.
He was born
March 2, 1953 in Portland to James R. and Elizabeth (McClements) Jensen and grew up there.
Following his graduation from Reynolds High School in 1971 he joined the U.S. Army and served for several years before taking employment with the Burlington Northern Railroad.
He worked for the railroad for nearly 26 years before taking a medical retirement, serving as an electrical drawbridge operator.
First arriving in The Dalles in 1980 he worked here for five years before being transferred to Portland, transferring back to The Dalles in 1997.
He enjoyed playing tennis and was a member of The Dalles Fitness and Court Club.
He also enjoyed playing basketball, gardening and fishing, and above all else spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Jodi, of the family home in The Dalles; his parents James and Elizabeth Jensen, Portland; daughters Sara Jensen; Portland; Bethany and Ashley Jensen, The Dalles, and his sister Kathleen Leibowitz, Mexico.
He was preceded in death
by a brother, Thomas, in 2001.
Services in celebration of his life will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, in the Fireside Room of The Dalles Civic Auditorium, with Greg Stone presiding.
Private family services of remembrance will accompany his interment at Willamette National Cemetery
in Portland.

Barton Lee Baunach
Barton Lee Baunach, 45, a resident of Rufus, died
at the local hospital on Wednesday, July 28, 2004.
He was born
Feb. 24, 1959, in Everett, Wash., the youngest of three children to Robert P. and Luella Mae (Dunn) Baunach.
He was raised in Rufus and graduated from Sherman County Union High School with the class of 1977.
He attended Eastern Oregon State College in La Grande for one year and then Portland State.
After college, he returned to Rufus to work with the family restaurant, “Bob’s Texas T-Bone & Frosty’s Lounge.”
He was devoted and enjoyed the restaurant and was well known for his catering and barbeque services.
He was a member of The Dalles Elk Lodges #303 and enjoyed his family and friends, the outdoors, fishing, sports, his 1969 Chevelle SS and his beagles, Duke and Duece.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia Marie (Kuhr) Baunach, Rufus; three children, Leslie Baunach, attending college in Ashland; Jeffery and Tonya Baunach, Rufus; his mother, Luella M. Baunach, Astoria; his sister, Catherine DeClue, Rufus; grandfather, Curtis Dunn, Warrenton; mother-in-law, Nora Ogle, Trail; father-in-law, Fred Ogle, Goldendale; numerous nieces and nephews and his best friend, Craig Colquitt, The Dalles.
He was preceded in death
by his brother, Steven in January 1999 and his father, Robert in December 1999.
Funeral services will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home on Saturday, July 31, 2004 at noon with Asa Jenson officiating. Interment will follow at Wasco Sunrise Cemetery.

Norma Lee Lamb
Norma Lee Lamb, 79, a resident of The Dalles, died
at a local care facility on Thursday, March 3, 2005.
She was born
Aug. 15, 1925, in Mineral Point, Mo., the oldest of four children to Jake Lewis and Bessie May (Key) Miller.
She grew up and attended schools in Mineral Point.
She married
Evan Edward Lamb Jr. on May 11, 1946, in Louisville, Ky.
They lived in Kentucky after they were married
and moved out West due to Evan’s work with the railroad.
They lived in California and moved to Oregon in 1987.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and Lioness Club Auxiliary in California.
She enjoyed playing bingo, Keno in Reno and slots.
Norma is survived by her husband, Evan Lamb, Mosier; her children, Linda and her husband, Kenny Bates, Eureka, Calif., Cathy and her husband, Hector Serrano, The Dalles, Debbie and her husband, Ken Haring, Reno, Nev., Evan Lamb III and his wife, Leah, The Dalles, Donna Lamb and her boyfriend, Joseph Simpson, The Dalles; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; her brother, Lewis R. Miller, Texas; and her sister, Virginia May, New Jersey.
She was preceded in death
by her sister, Gladous Hargrove, Missouri.
Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home on Monday, March 7, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Rosary services will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 8, at 10 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial
following at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father Joe Kelbel as celebrant.
Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery.

Madelyn P. McJunkin
Madelyn P. McJunkin, 90, a resident of The Dalles, died
at the local hospital on Friday, March 4, 2005.
She was born
Jan. 25, 1915, in Mahnomen, Minn., the youngest of six children to Charles and Emma (Mayer) Dendiger.
She grew up in Cedar County, Neb., and attended school in Hartington, Neb.
She attended nursing school in Nebraska and was trained as a registered nurse.
She married
Jasper LaVern “Vern” McJunkin on May 13, 1936, in Wayne, Neb.
The family moved from Kansas to The Dalles in 1961, and to Scappoose in 1966, returning to The Dalles in 1995.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and gardening.
Madelyn is survived by her son, Alan L. McJunkin, The Dalles; four daughters, Dorothy Ann Sierks, Moore, Okla., Eva F. Hensarling, Houston, Virginia L. Chandler, Le Roy, Kans., and Sue Lange, The Dalles; 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death
by her husband on May 20, 1971; and her brothers, Edward, Harold, Raphael, Sylvester and Arthur.
Graveside services will be held at Threemile Road Odd Fellows Cemetery
(formerly known as Parklawn Cemetery) at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8., with Father Todd Unger officiating.

Richard ‘Dick’ Earl Robertson
Richard “Dick” Earl Robertson, 94, a resident of Dallesport since 1973, died
at the local hospital Tuesday, June 8, 2004.
He was born
Oct. 3, 1909, in Wilbur, Wash., the youngest of nine children to John Henry and Florence (Belle) Robertson.
He was raised in the Wilbur area and married
Bessie Viola Brown on Sept. 14, 1932, in Davenport, Wash.
He worked as a farm laborer in eastern Washington and then started working as a plumber and pipefitter in the construction trade.
He worked on the Grand Coulee Dam, the ship yards in Seattle and Portland during World War II.
After the war, he worked on the Hungry Horse Dam, the ARCO Oil Refinery in Ferndale, Wash., the Trojan Nuclear Plant as well as many other small jobs, retiring in 1973.
After his retirement, he worked maintenance at the Portage Inn for five years.
He had been a member and past president of the Eagles Lodge in Moses Lake, Wash., and was a 65-year member of Pipefitter’s Union Local 26.
He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Berniece Elizabeth Robertson, Dallesport, whom he married
in Ephrata, Wash., on March 28, 1952; two sons, Gordon and his wife, Sultana Robertson, Walla Walla, Wash.; Gary Robertson, Discovery Bay, Calif.; one step-daughter, Patricia and her husband, John Coker, Benton, Miss.; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death
by five brothers and three sisters.
Memorial services will be held at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home on Friday, June 11, at 1 p.m. with Asa Jenson officiating.
Private cremation was held at The Dalles Winquatt Crematory.
