George F. Iremonger
George F. Iremonger, 88, died at the the Lake District Hospital Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007 following a lengthy illness.
George was born Feb. 18, 1919 to John and Alice (Hubner) Iremonger in Waterman near Fossil where he was raised and ducated.
During WW II he was stationed at Fort Stevens in Seaside.
He was married to Goldie Anderson July 14, 1950.
George enjoyed a long career with PP&L as a lineman, beginning in Klamath Falls and eventually retiring in Lakeview. Following retirement George was always willing to help gather cattle for local ranchers and help with the branding.
George was a member of the Lakeview Volunteer Fire Dept., the National Ski Patrol and was a member and past president of the Lake County Roundup Assn.
Survivors include: his wife, Goldie of Lakeview; son and daughter-in-law, John and Becky of Mosier; daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Bill Smith of Bend; sister, Joanne Johnson of Prairie City; grandchildren, Ami, Thad, Ben, Kristi, Vawn and William.
A gathering will be held in the Fellowship Hall at the First Presbyterian Church Saturday, Dec. 22, at 1p.m. The interment will be private. A luncheon will be provided for those who attend the ceremony.

Lila Patricia Robertson
Lila Patricia Robertson, 82, died at the Lake District Hospital from natural causes on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007.
Lila was born on Dec, 18, 1924 in Brownsville to Milton and Jessie (Powers) Howe.
She attended the University of Oregon. Graduated from Beth-El School of Nursing at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, Colo, with an R.N. degree in 1946. She then went on to work in hospitals in Colorado Springs and Portland.
She married Dr. Lewis C. Robertson, M.D. in Portland on July 1, 1947. They moved to Lakeview in 1949 and he set up his medical practice.
He was called for a second tour of duty as an Army physician in 1950 and the family lived on several army bases in California and Utah for two years. Upon completion of Army service, they returned to Lakeview. Lila worked as Lewis' office nurse for many years until they both retired in 1993.
Their lifelong partnership was truly an affair of the heart. Their family and their medical practice together were the centerpieces of their lives.
Lila was preceded in death by her husband in 2001, her sister and her parents.
Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Connie Robertson of Zephyr Cove, Nev.; her daughter, Candace Robertson of Portland; granddaughters, Dawn and husband Patrick Stackpole and Colleen and husband Ooli Haskins; great-grandsons, Jude Douglas Stackpole and Jacob Patrick Stackpole of Lake Tahoe, Nev.; niece, Janice Kniskern and husband Dennis of Lakeview; one niece and three nephews of California.
She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren and was loved very much.
At her request, a private graveside service will be held, followed by a memorial gathering at the Desert Rose Funeral Chapel on Friday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m.

Sgt. Mikeal W. Miller
Sgt. Mikeal W. Miller, 22, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008 in the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., from injuries received on July 8, 2007 while serving on active duty in Iraq. His wife and family were by his bedside and grandma was holding his hand.
The son of René Blair and Steven W. Miller, Mikeal was born in Lakeview, on Aug. 27, 1985.
Mikeal's parents were married after they graduated from high school in 1986. Their marriage was later dissolved.
Mike was in Lakeview for 2 and a half years, when he and his mom and baby brother flew to Germany, where his dad was stationed in the Army. They were there for 3 plus years and transferred to El Paso, Texas. After his father's discharge, they moved to California where Mike attended 1st and 2nd grades. The family returned to Lakeview where Mike attended grades 3 through 8. Mike and his mom and brothers moved to Albany in 1999. He attended South Albany High School where he graduated on June 8, 2003. While there, Mike participated in football, wrestling and track. When Mike was 17, he entered the Army through the early enlistment program. He left Albany on Aug. 13, 2003 for Fort Benning, Ga. His mom pinned his blue lanyard on his shoulder in November, 2003 after he graduated from basic training.
Mike was deployed to Korea in December 2003. He was there less than a year when he received his orders to go to Iraq for his first tour. After returning, he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colo. He was there for a year and received orders for another tour in Iraq.
While he was home on leave from Korea, he met his wife, Megan, whom he married on Sept. 8, 2006. Soon afterward, he was deployed to Iraq for his second tour.
While Mike and his platoon were making a patrol in Baghdad, his vehicle was struck by an IED and some small arms fire. Mike received serious head trauma. He was flown to Germany and then brought to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. Two months later, he was moved to Palo Alto, Calif. for physical therapy. For medical reasons he was moved back to Bethesda where he passed away two months later.
Mike received his promotion to Sergeant one week before he passed away. He was presented the Purple Heart medal by President Bush. During his career in the Army, he received the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terror Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Army Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and a Combat Infantryman's Badge.
Mike is survived by: his wife, Megan; father, Steve; mother, René; brother, Chris Miller of California; brothers, Kurt Miller and Conner Pool of Albany; stepfather, Bud Pool of Albany; stepsister, Barbara Pool and her son Koda and fiancé Sharon Fredricks of Albany; stepbrother, Ryon Pool of Ashland; grandparents, Ramon and Cinda Blair of Lakeview; Wayne and Pam Miller of Anchorage, Alaska; great-grandmother, Bessie Miller of Wasilla, Alaska; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; parents-in-law, Rocky and Kathye Erner of Albany; and stepsister, Mallory of Albany.
His full military funeral was held on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Scott Funeral Chapel in Portland. Inurement will be in the Willamette National Cemetery.
Other services will be held later in Fort Carson, Colo. and Lakeview. The Lakeview service will be at the Lakeview High School gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 12:30 p.m. A potluck dinner will follow at the Lakeview Elks Lodge. Pastor Ray Durkin will officiate.
Memorial donations are asked to be made to the Mike Miller fund, South Valley Bank and Trust, 125 N. E St., Lakeview; VFW Post 4070, PO Box 134, Lakeview; First Baptist Church Remodeling Project, 910 N. 2nd St, Lakeview; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Mike's family was his life, they meant very much to him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He like to shoot skeet with his uncles and grandpa every Christmas. He enjoyed walking on the beach with his wife.
To honor Mike's wishes, a portion of his cremated remains will be scattered on his grandparents property in Lakeview.

Richard Philip Peat
Richard Philip Peat, 87, passed away on Friday, Jan. 25, at Sky Lakes Medical Center, in Klamath Falls.
Richard was born to Fred R. and Mary (Heryford) Peat in Lakeview on Nov. 8, 1920.
He had recently returned to southern Oregon after having lived in Washington, DC and Palm Springs, Calif. for the past 50 years. He graduated from Lakeview High School, and Oregon State College, and received a Masters of Science in Geodesy from Ohio State University. He served in the US Army Infantry in Europe during WWII and was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries received in France.
After the war he returned to Lake County where he owned and operated a dairy farm. In 1958, he moved his family to Washington, DC where he began a long and distinguished career with the Department of Defense as a geophysicist. He retired in 1986 and moved to Palm Springs, Calif. where he lived until November of 2007.
While in school at Oregon State, Dick met Muriel Hughes and they were married in Portland on Dec. 19, 1942. They were married for 54 years until Muriel's death in 1996.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Muriel.
He is survived by: his two daughters, Sandra of Klamath Falls, and Stephanie of Falls Church, Va.; his niece, Leslie Tragitt and her children of Yreka, Calif.; nephews, Greg Tragitt of Houston, Texas and Gordon Tragitt of Salem; niece, Anna Bateman of Clackamas; and brother-in-law, H.N. Tragitt of Salem.
Inurement will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
Charles 'Charlie' Leroy Springer
Charles 'Charlie' Leroy Springer, 91, died on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008 at Lake District Hospital from natural.
Charlie was born to Albert and Minnie (Olsen) Springer in Klamath Falls on March 26, 1916.
After finishing his education in Klamath Falls, he worked on local farms until he moved to Bly in 1945 to take a job driving a water truck.
Shortly after moving to Bly, Charlie met the love of his life, Vivian Chitwood, and they were married in Bly on Sept. 23, 1945. He returned to Klamath Falls with his new bride and drove a taxi for three years before moving to California where he started his long career working in the woods as a timber faller. He followed his career to McCall, Idaho in 1963 and then settled in Lakeview in 1968 and retired from Weyerhaeuser Co. in 1982.
When Charlie was younger he enjoyed hunting, but in the later years his favorite past time was watching wrestling on T.V. He loved his dog and tolerated his cat. His family was truly his pride and joy.
Charlie was a long time, active member of the Lakeview Trinity Baptist Church.
He is survived by: wife, Vivian of Lakeview; sons, Thomas of Ontario, Charles of Medical Lakes, Wash., Joel of Redmond, Dan of Vancouver, Wash., John of Bend, David of Battle Ground Wash., Michael of Portland and Paul of Lakeview; daughter, Charlotte Chitwood of Cambridge, Idaho; brother, Leonard of Roseburg; 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Lakeview Trinity Baptist Church on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. with a potluck dinner in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Private committal will be in the Sunset Park Cemetery.

Nancy Gayle Stevens
Nancy Gayle Stevens, 65, died in her sleep at her Christmas Valley Home Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 following a lengthy illness.
Nancy was born Dec. 10, 1942 in Roseburg to Morris D. and Frances A. (Coefield ) Strader.
Nancy was married to her husband Arthur Lee Stevens for 25 years.
Nancy will be missed by many in her community.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents and one brother George Strader.
Survivors include: her husband, Art Stevens of Christmas Valley; son, Jeffrey Hamilton of Christmas Valley; daughters, Francene Butts of Corvallis, Heather Arruda of Christmas Valley, and Shannon Hamilton of Corvallis; brother, Thomas Stradero of Fortuna, Calif.; sister, Sandra Thomas of Portland; stepbrothers, Bob; 11 grandchildren; five great -grand-children and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Helen Eva Wilson
Helen Eva Wilson, 93, of Brookings, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 at her home following a short illness.
She was born Nov. 21, 1914 in Lakeview to Charles Henry and Catherine Rose (Woods) Buck. She was raised in Lakeview, and was educated in a two room schoolhouse on the Westside.
On June 12, 1931, she married Robert Curtis Wilson at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Lakeview. The couple lived in the Lakeview area for ten years. Mrs. Wilson lived in the sawmill camps alongside her husband, and was a homemaker in often difficult and pioneer-like conditions. They moved to Grant Pass in 1941, where Mr. Wilson worked as foreman at Moore Timber Product, she took a motel management course, and began working at motels in the area. They also owned and operated the '99' Market for several years. She enjoyed doing volunteer work and serving hot meals on wheels.
While in Grant Pass, she was active in St. Ann's Catholic Church and Altar Society. She was also involved in the P.T.A. and served a term as presidentwhile her children were in school.
Music was important to her, and she loved to play ragtime piano and have family sing-alongs. She also enjoyed cooking, and experimenting with new recipes. Her family loved her sourdough hotcakes with a starter she kept alive for years. She had a large collection of cook books.
After retirement, the Wilsons moved to Brookings in the late 1960's Helen was very involved in the Star of the Sea church and president of the Alter Society. She loved the beach and enjoyed camping, fishing and rock hounding. They later returned to Grants Pass for Mr. Wilson's health.
Following her husband's death in 1999, she became reacquainted with a childhood friend, and enjoyed visiting with him on the telephone and in Redding, Calif.
She moved to Brookings again in 2004 to be near her daughters.
Mrs. Wilson was a high-spirited, energetic, funny and vivacious person. Throughout her life, she had a vivid imagination, maintained an active mind and loved to tell stories. At the time of her death, she was working on an autobiography. She was always direct in her dealings with others, and was fiercely independent. Recently, on her 93rd birthday, she approached her dear friend and neighbor Richard Martin and requested a birthday ride on his friendsHarley.
Always a staunch democrat, she followed, and liked to discuss politics.
She was well educated in the field of natural health and believed strongly in nutrition and alternative therapies. She especially enjoyed massages.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1999 and a daughter, Rosie, in 2006.
Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, Robert D. 'Bobby' and Elsie Wilson, Fred and Corkie Wilson all of Grants Pass; daughters, Joan Gregg and Christine Johnson both of Brookings; brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Helen Buck of Klamath Falls; 27 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren and nine great great-grandchildren.
There will be a rosary at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 1 followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. at the Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Brookings. The Rev. Joseph Bosch will officiate.

Lawrence Kenneth 'Larry' Winer Jr.
Lawrence Kenneth 'Larry' Winer Jr., 63, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008.
He was born April 12, 1944 in San Diego, Calif., to Lawrence K. and Lucille May (Jenkins) Winer.
Larry worked for Boise Cascade and Circle D.E. Lumber as an electrician. He enjoyed computers and rodeos.
Larry is survived by: wife, Karen Winer; sons, Scott Winer and Jim Winer; stepdaughter, Sharmin Buck; grandchildren, Steven Winer, Zachary Winer and Katherine Winer.
No public service will be held.
Elizabeth Ann (Becky) Jaska
Elizabeth Ann (Becky) Jaska, 77, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2008, in Lakeview.
Becky was born in 1931 in Lakeview to Edwin and Eula (Weagant) Benefiel.
She grew up living in Lakeview, New Pine Creek, Fort Bidwell, Calif. and Gabs, Nev. Becky spent many summers at High Grade above New Pine Creek where her father operated a mine.
In 1953 she married George Jaska, the couple then lived in New Idaho west of Lakeview where they operated a Ranch.
Becky worked at various bookkeeping jobs as well as working on the ranch with her husband. Painting was Becky's passion and many of her paintings have been on display in Lakeview including the post office. She spent many hours painting and working with the Lake County Arts and Crafts Association. Becky had many workshops with the Arts and Crafts Association and served as the president. She enjoyed her ranch work, especially irrigating in the summers.
She was preceded in death by her father Edwin Benefiel and Mother Eula Benefiel.
She is Survived by her husband of 54 years George Jaska of Lakeview; Son and Daughter- in -law Stan and Judy Jaska of Lakeview; Daughter and Son- in -law Juanita and Darryl Anderson of Lakeview; Brothers- in -law and Sisters- in- law Lumil and Violet Jaska of Redondo Beach, Calif. and Frank and Norma Jaska of Medford; sisters Dorothy Cavin of Medford and May Sibert of Bellingham Wash.; grandchildren Carmen Tague, Cindy Anderson, Brandy McLain, Kelley McLain, Jakeb and Jacqui Jaska; and great- grandchild Sebastian Jones; various nephews and nieces.
Funeral Services are Wednesday March 26, 2008 at 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Lakeview. Graveside services to follow at the family plot at Sunset Cemetery. A potluck will follow at the church following graveside services.
Those wishing to donate in Becky's name may make donations to the Lakeview Disaster Unit, the Library Building Fund, or a charity of the donor's choice.
