Darrell E. Walker
Darrell E. Walker, 77, of Molalla, died
April 15, 2007 following an eight-year battle with cancer.
He was born
on Sept. 28, 1929 in Los Angeles, where he lived for 14 years in Hermosa Beach, Calif., before moving to Molalla with his family.
He attended Molalla Union High School before joining the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served in Guam during WWII.
In 1951, he established Walker's Refrigeration & Appliance on Molalla Avenue and drove a bus for the Molalla Grade School system for 15 years.
He continued serving the community in his familiar green truck until he retired in 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Pat; children, Gayla Almond and John Walker; stepchildren, Christy Lovgren and Kelly Scott; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29 at Arrowhead Golf Club in Molalla.

Betty Lou Cox
Betty Lou Cox, 80, of Woodburn, died
April 19, 2007.
Born March 20, 1927 in Wichita, Kan., she worked for Boeing Aircraft Factory in Wichita, Kan., during World War II.
She later moved to Portland with her parents.
On Aug. 19, 1949, she married
Chuck Wafford.
They later divorced.
She then began her career as a nurse at McKenzie Manor.
She accepted a position as an industrial nurse at Eugene Fruit Growers, meeting her future husband, Floyd Cox, there.
On May 12, 1973, they were married
in Reno, Nev.
She is survived by her husband; daughters, Diane Henderson of Woodburn and Carol Carroll of Tacoma, Wash.; five step-children; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grand children.
She was preceded in death
by her half-brothers, Everett and Ralph; sisters, Pearl and Ruth; brother, Larry; and son, Larry.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 23 at West Lawn Memorial Park, 225 S. Danebo in Eugene.
Ada Yoder Sinclair
Ada Sinclair, 97, died
April 18, 2007 in Mt. Angel.
She was born
Nov. 16, 1909 to William H. and Jenny Yoder on the family farm in Yoder.
She attended Molalla Union High School, graduating in 1927.
She was a life-long member of the Smyrna United Church of Christ.
Her grandfather, Asa Yoder, was a charter member of the Smyrna Church which was organized in 1891.
She married
Vernon T. Sinclair on May 1, 1949, in the First Congregational Church in Portland.
He died
Dec. 19, 1971.
She spent many years as pianist and Sunday school teacher during her long tenure as a member of the church.
She was known for her love of gardening and the canning of fruits and vegetables.
She enjoyed watching Portland Trail Blazers games and serving family dinners.
She is survived a nephew and five nieces.
She was preceded in death
by a brother and four sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 27, at Smyrna United Church of Christ on Highway 170, south of Canby.
Burial
will follow at Smyrna Cemetery.

Bette J. Carlsten
Bette J. Carlsten, 85, of Canby, died
on July 24, 2007, at a Canby care center.
She was born
on Nov. 18, 1921, in Silverdale, Wash.
She married
George Morton in 1937; they later divorced.
She married
W. L. Carlsten in 1945; he died
in 1982.
She lived in Silverdale for 35 years. She moved to Reno, Nev., where she worked as a surgical aide at St. Mary’s Hospital.
For the past 24 years, she has lived in Canby.
She enjoyed bowling and walking with friends.
She is survived by her son, Alan Morton of Canby; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A son, Franklin W. Morton, died
in 2006.
No public services will be held.

Robert C. Word
Robert C. Word, 86, of Canby, died
of prostate and colon cancer on July 24, 2007.
He was born
on June 2, 1921, in Milford, Conn. In 1943, he married
Jayne Fairchild Roland; she died
in 1963.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Pearl Harbor survivor.
A retired salesman, he lived in Portland from 1961 until 1996 when he moved to Canby.
He is survived by his son, Bruce William Word, and companion, Helene Sawyer.
A memorial service will be held later.

Delphine M. Jensen
Delphine M. Jensen, 86 of Gervais, died
July 25, 2007.
Born June 17, 1921, in Colton, Wash., she moved as a child to Silverton, then to Mt. Angel where she grew up and attended school.
She then attended Junior College, studying business courses.
She worked for the Mt. Angel and Gervais telephone companies before becoming a secretary with Potts-Davis Insurance Co. in Salem. She retired in 1984.
She was married
to Andrew Jensen on Feb. 13, 1955, in Mt. Angel and they made their home in Gervais.
A member of the St. Louis Catholic Church, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting and camping.
She is survived by her husband, daughters, Karen Foster of Woodburn, Kathleen Jensen of Silverton and Marianne Paradis of Portland; brothers, Virgil Gooley of Mt. Angel and Joseph Gooley of Portland; sister, Rosella McKay of St. Paul; and six grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 30, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, following a prayer vigil.
Burial
will be at Gervais Cemetery.

Fay Gardner
Long time Molalla resident Fay Gardner, 87, died
in her home on July 19, 2007.
She was born
April 21, 1920, in Terrebonne, at the base of Smith Rock.
After obtaining her teaching degree from Oregon State University, she taught high school in Shed and Canby and later taught elementary school at Maple Grove.
She married
Royal Gardner May 21, 1945, on the farm in Terrebonne.
They moved to Pennsylvania until he was out of the service.
They then moved back to Oregon, living in different places until coming to Molalla in 1957. He died
in 1971.
She was a member of Molalla Christian Church for the 50 years she lived in Molalla.
She led children’s church with her husband for many years, taught Sunday school and was involved in many Bible studies.
She was also active in home extension for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Marceil Whitney of Woodinville, Wash., and Mary Rossman of Tigard; sister, Marge Entrikin of Madras; brother, Art Foss of Vail; and six grandchildren;
Her son, Richard Gardner died
in 2001.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m. at Molalla Christian Church.
