Dennis Cross
Dennis D. Cross, 59, formerly of Woodburn, died June 19, 2006.
Born Sept. 7, 1946, in Salem, he graduated from Woodburn High School in 1964 and lived most of his life in the Salem and Woodburn area and 10 years in Warrenton. He was a construction project manager with the Oregon Military Department and served 42 years with Oregon National Guard.
He married Candi Stewart in 1971 in Reno.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and baseball and was a member of the Woodburn Eagles Lodge, the American Legion and the Warrant Officers Association in Astoria.
He is survived by his wife, son Brent Cross of Sublimity, brother Rick Cross of Woodburn, sister Mary Ann Blankinship of Sacramento, Calif; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service was held June 22 at Cornwell Colonial Chapel.

Marian Swiger
Marian T. Swiger, 84, of Molalla, died on June 21, 2006.
She was born Marian T. Sibary on June 28, 1920, in Cadillac, Mich. She had lived in the Molalla and Woodburn area for the last 30 years.
She worked as a production worker and inspector at Agri-Pac, retiring four years ago at the age of 80.
She is survived by four grandchildren.
Private services were held.

Elaine Brown
Elaine Brown, 78, of Canby died of natural causes on Monday, April 30, 2007, at her home. She was born on Feb. 19, 1929, in Lancaster, Calif., and had lived in Canby the last 25 years. She is survived by her sons, Mark of Milwaukie and Randy and Steve, both of Canby; daughters, Joni Cook of Canby and Diana Brown of Stanfield, Ariz.; brother, Ron Sievers of Albany; sister, Shirley Jacobson of Portland; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 4, at Canby Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow at Zion Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Portland Adventist Hospice.
Eugene H. Thurstonson
Eugene H. Thurstonson, 80, died June 28, 2007, on his farm near Canby.
He was born May 25, 1927, at Silver Creek, Neb., to Carl and Anna Thurstonson and graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
On May 28, 1961, he married Gertrude Goodin; she died in 1979.
He was a parts man for International Harvester in the 1950s and then for Freightliner. He retired in 1984.
He is survived by his sisters, Ruth Jacobsen of Vancouver, Wash., and Marlene Schreiber of Columbus, Neb.; and 14 nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Canby Funeral Home, with burial at Sunset Hills in Portland.
Elsie May Adkins
Elsie May Adkins, 102, of Milwaukie, died on Friday, July 27, 2007, at a Milwaukie care center.
She was born on Sept. 29, 1904, in Portland. When she was 3 years old, she moved with her family to Hanford, Calif., in a covered wagon. When she was 12, the family moved back to Oregon and lived in Carver and Estacada.
She married Jesse J. Adkins on Aug. 25, 1923. They lived in logging camps mostly in the Sublimity area, finally settling in the Clarks area where they made their home for 60 years. Her husband died in 1984.
In 1988, she moved to Oregon City where she lived for 18 years and the last few years she lived in Milwaukie.
She enjoyed her flowers and was a member of the Clarks Garden Club. She also enjoyed camping, hunting and salmon fishing.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanne Fisher of Beavercreek; son, Randall of Gladstone; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, at Zion Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be to the Oregon Garden or Willamette Falls Hospice.

Verna Louise Quinlan
Verna Louise Quinlan, 73, of Molalla, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007.
She was born May 21, 1934, in Colville, Wash. She married John Quinlan in 1952.
She worked in production plastics for Mod Com.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Barlow of Dayton and Ginger Ware of Opelaka, Ala.; step-sister, Margie Baranek; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Robert Laroy Palmer
Robert Laroy Palmer, 60, of Oregon City, died July 28, 2007, of pancreatic cancer.
He was the owner of Gladstone Auto Body and Paint from 1980 to 2006.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, at Canby Church of God.
Rayden Eli Bryant
Rayden Eli Bryant was born June 20, 2008, at Willamette Falls Hospital to Ashlee Paola and Jeff Bryant of Canby.
He weighed 6 pounds, 9 ½ ounces and measured 18 ½ inches.
Grandparents are Lance and Mia Bryant of Canby, Tony and Kris Paola of Oregon City and Tracy and Mike McKee of Bend.
River August Flanagan
River August Flanagan was born June 15, 2008, at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center to John S. and Lisa R. Flanagan of Canby.
He weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 21 1/2-inches at his 8:34 p.m. birth.
Grandparents are Bobbi and Phil Chatelain of Alexandria, La; Laura Kraxberger of Canby; and Rick Flanagan of Canby
Great-grandparents are Marjorie Kraxberger of Canby and Ruth Flanagan of Beaverton.
Kameron Ross Losoya
Kameron Ross Losoya was born June 14, 2008, at St. Charles Hospital in Redmond, Ore., to AJ and Kori Losoya of Redmond.
He weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 18 inches at his 8:52 p.m. birth.
He will join siblings, Kaden Reese, 3 ½ and Kaleb Riley, 22 months.
Grandparents are Harold and Elaine Meadors of Aurora and Robert and Yolanda Losoya of Woodburn.
Iris Rose Coulson
Iris Rose Coulson, 80, died Jan. 6, 2009, at her home in Canby after a ten-year battle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
She was born Feb. 19, 1928, in Oregon City on February 19, 1928, the oldest of five children of Alfred and Minnie Shaver.
She grew up in Molalla and graduated from Molalla High School in 1946. She attended Oregon State College.
In 1948, she married Kenneth Clark and they had four daughters
She later married Robert Reilly. He died in 2004.
In 2006, she married her high school sweetheart, Edgar Coulson. He died less than a year later.
She worked at various jobs at Molalla High School for several years and served as a courtroom deputy for Judge Owen Panner until she retired in 1991.
A volunteer at the Canby Adult Center, she enjoyed traveling, sewing, quilting and attending the sporting events of her grandsons.
Survivors include her daughters, Kimberly Wrolstad of Tigard, Margo Clark of Portland, Lisa Johnson of Beaverton and Mia Clark of Portland; sisters, Phyllis Wilson of Rocklin, Calif.; Carol Madsen of the Oregon Coast and Nancy Fenton of Forest Grove; brother, Mike Shaver of Lakeside; and three grandsons.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Molalla United Methodist Church, 111 Mathias Road in Molalla. A luncheon for friends and family will follow.

William H. Pugh
William H. Pugh, 69, of Oregon City, died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2009.
He was born Feb. 11, 1940, in Seattle, Wash., to William Ellis and Dolly Marguerite Halsam. He grew up in Kent, Wash., and graduated from Kent Meridian High School in 1959.
On June 6, 1982, he married Linda Martin in Molalla.
He worked in construction, trucking and for Safeway. He also did security and maintenance for a timber company, retiring in 1999.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Oregon City, Molalla and Canby. In 1982, he made a mission trip to Guatemala for the church.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Donni David of Wilsonville, Jamie Trent of Seattle and Pamela Jackson and Jodi Miller of Nampa, Idaho; sister, Rita Wright; brothers, Dan, Steven and Tom; and seven grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. at the Canby Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Adams Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Nazarene Mission Fund.

Zelma D. Armstrong
Zelma D. Armstrong, 81, of Canby, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, in Tualatin.
She was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Silverton to Joseph F. Zeis and Bertha Jean Henjum. She grew up in Silverton and Dayton and also lived in Aurora and Gervais. She moved to Canby in 1998.
On July 6, 1947, she married Leland Armstrong Sr. He died April 27, 2000.
Survivors include her daughters, Maggie Hubbard of Canby and Kay Armstrong of Salem; son, Stan of Gervais; brothers, William Conner of Jacksonville, Fla., and Arthur Conner of West Linn; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Her son Harold, sister Marlene Schultz and brother Wayne Conner preceded her in death.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, at Canby Funeral Chapel.

Helen Louise Ostermiller
Helen Louise Ostermiller, 79, died Oct. 20, 2006, at the home of her daughter in Canby.
She was born Oct. 11, 1927, at Ft. Lupton, Colo., to Ernest Sr. and Phyllis Christopher Craig. She grew up on a farm in Colorado and married Robert Ostermiller on Nov. 18. A homemaker, she moved to Portland in 1969 and to Canby in 1974.
She is survived by her daughters, Sue Weber Sharon Rowbury and Janice Younce; son, Larry; sister, Edna Dunning; brother, Lewis Craig; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Zion Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Dee Mitchell officiating.

Anne Elizabeth Lima
Anne Lima, 53, of Woodburn, died June 20, 2008, after battling breast cancer for almost five years.
She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon at age 19. She worked as a medical records technician for Salud de la Familia Migrant Clinic in Woodburn for more than 11 years.
Later, she became the secretary for the Woodburn Presbyterian Church and for the past several years had worked as office manager for Willamette Turf Inc.
She counseled other women battling breast cancer and was instrumental in starting a metastatic breast cancer group in Salem. She volunteered for a number of years at the St. Josephs Shelter and the Benedictine Sisters of Mount Angel.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Claudio; son, Daniel; and daughter, Sarah.
Her parents, Leonard and Ione Ahsenmacher, preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the Benedictine Sisters Chapel in Mount Angel.

Helena M. Mathena
Helena M. Mathena, 90, of Brooks, died June 21, 2008.
She was born, Sept. 28, 1917, in Collinsville, Okla., and married Clovis Mathena on Dec. 21, 1939 in Tulsa, Okla. He died in 2003.
She moved to California in the early 1940s and to Brooks in 1978.
A homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and cooking.
Survivors include her son Mickey; daughters, Donna Balara of Chino Hills, Calif., and Kathy Daniel of Keizer; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 3, at Cornwell Colonial Chapel with private burial at Restlawn Cemetery in Salem.
