Eldon Hart
TUALATIN — Eldon V. Hart of Wilsonville died Sunday, June 13, 2004, at a Tualatin hospital. He was 83.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, June 18 at Canby Funeral Chapel. Burial followed at Sunset Hills Memorial Park.
Eldon was born July 10, 1920, in Pleasanton, Kan. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946 and in the Korean War.
He married Wanda J. Hillyer in 1947. Wanda died in 1985. He then married Margaret Jeskey in 1986.
Eldon was Battalion Chief for the Washington County Fire Department, retiring in 1972. He lived in Beaverton for several years before moving to Canby in 1981. He lived in Wilsonville for the past several months.
Eldon was an expert bowler, being inducted into the Portland Bowling Association Hall of Fame. He served as secretary of the Northwest International Bowling Congress.
He was also a Commander of the American Legion in Beaverton and a member of the American Legion Post No. 122 in Canby.
Eldon is survived by his wife, Margaret of Wilsonville; sons Timothy R. Hart of Visalia, Calif, Michael T. Hart of Yamhill, David V. Hart of McMinnville, and Gregory A. Hart of Donald; stepsons, Harold and Virgil Delker of Aloha, and Larry Delker of Canby; sister Elizabeth Conrad of Milwaukie; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 12 step-great- grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a stepson, Donald Delker.
The family suggests memorials may be made to the Canby Chapel Church of the Nazarene.
Dorothy Christopherson
DONALD — Dorothy Christopherson of Donald died Friday, June 11, 2004, at her home from a long illness. She was 83.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 27, at the Donald Fire Hall. Canby Funeral Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
Dorothy was born May 31, 1921, in Bickleton, Wash. She graduated high school in Ione, Ore.
She married Vern Christopherson on April 23, 1940, in College Place, Wash. They shared 64 years of wonderful married life together.
Dorothy and Vern moved to Donald in 1941 and raised their family and had lived there since that time. They also lived in Eastern Oregon for a few years.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Vern of Donald; daughters Gloria Klimaschesky of Donald, Kathy Olsen of Portland, and Ebbie Kovach of Portland, Tenn.; brother Melvin Brady of Milton-Freewater, Ore.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn, in 1943 a son, Chucky, in 1948, and one sister.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Legacy Hospice of McMinnville.
Gladys Pedersen
WOODBURN — Gladys Faye Pedersen (Jones), 89, of Woodburn, died June 12, 2004.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be determined near her birthday, Aug. 25, at Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Urn placement will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
Born Aug. 25, 1914 in Conway, Ark., she attended college in Conway and was a junior high school teacher.
She moved to Woodburn from Alabama in 1975 and was a member of the Woodburn United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, squaredancing, traveling and helping with coffee socials at Woodburn Senior Estates.
She married Charles Parker on April 12, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1962.
She then married Fred Hagen in 1980. He preceded her in death in 1987.
She later married John Pedersen July 23, 1994. He preceded her in death in 1996.
She is survived by sons, Charles D. Parker of Hood River, Dr. Robert C. Parker of Starkville, Miss.; daughter, Margaret F. Sheriff of Dayton, Ohio; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel.
Terressa Virginia Cross
MOLALLA — Terressa Virginia Cross of Molalla died July 31, 2004. She was 80.
A graveside service was held Aug. 5 at Adams Cemetery in Molalla.
She was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Portland and lived in Gladstone until 1942, where her father was the chief of police.
Terressa married John Milton Cross of Molalla in 1942.
Her husband served his country overseas during World War II for three years.
The couple moved to Brookings in 1960, where she was employed as the head baker for the school district. The couple enjoyed the beauty of the coast until 1978, when they moved back to Molalla. They grew Christmas trees and worked part-time in their son’s construction company.
Terressa was an avid gardener with her own greenhouse and loved to take bouquets of flowers to people who needed cheering.
She is survived by son James Cross and daughter-in-law Keile and their children of Molalla.
She was preceded in death by her husband and daughters Judy Miller and Sherry Peterson.
Molalla Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Debra Lynn Taylor
VANCOUVER, Wash. — Debra Lynn Taylor of Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Aurora, died Aug. 2, 2004. She was 49.
She was born March 17, 1955, in Roosevelt, Wash., and was raised on a 5,000-acre sheep ranch along the Columbia River. She learned to ride before she could walk.
She attended Goldendale High School. She was raised in a rodeo family, and she barrel raced and roped in competitions across the country.
She moved to Aurora in 1980. She was active in the Canby Barrel Racing Club for several years, and she galloped race horses at the Canby fairgrounds.
She is survived by children Jeremy Cronenwett of Kennewick, Wash., Joshua Taylor of Aurora, and Cheyenne Taylor of Vancouver, Wash.; and brother Darren Goree of White Salmon, Wash.
The family suggests memorial donations may be made to Ray Hickey Hospice House, 2112 E. Mill Plain, P.O. Box 1600, Vancouver, WA 98668.

Bessie M. Preston
PORTLAND — Bessie Preston, formerly of Canby, died July 19, 2004, in Portland. She was 90.
A celebration of life service was held Aug. 5 at Barricks Funeral Home in Salem. Burial will be at Fernridge Pioneer Cemetery in Seal Rocks, Ore.
She was born Aug. 5, 1913, in West Yaquina, Ore., near Newport, the oldest of six children born to John and Jessie Bartow.
She attended the West Yaquina one-room school in grades 1-8. She graduated from Newport High School, which meant rowing a boat from King Slough to Newport each day. She always said, “Teens nowadays say ‘May I use the car tonight?’ We said, ‘May we use the boat tonight?’”
Bessie married Lyman E. Preston in 1935.
The couple lived in South Beach, Toledo, Oregon City and Canby, before settling in Salem.
During World War, II she worked in the lumber mill in Toledo, pulling green-chain while pregnant. She worked at Fairview Training Center in Salem, as a CNA for many years, fulfilling, partially, a dream of being a nurse, which Depression years didn’t afford.
After retiring, she did respite care for a number of years.
Bessie loved to read, crochet and quilt. She held Bible study in her home for decades. She traveled across the U.S., including Alaska and Hawaii, in her retirement.
She is survived by sons David Sr. of Lewis, Kan., Daniel of Moses Lake, Wash., and Hugh of Touchet, Wash.; foster daughter Mary Kennison of Puyallup, Wash.; sisters Edna Samuels of Renton, Wash., and Amy Madison of Molalla; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 28 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers Bart, Bob and Dick, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to hospice.
Joan K. Fogal
SALEM — Joan K. Fogal of Salem, formerly of Aurora, died July 25, 2004. She was 85.
A funeral service was held July 30 at Simon-Woodburn Funeral Chapel in Woodburn. Vault interment was at Belle Passi Cemetery in Woodburn.
She was born Dec. 29, 1918, in Springfield, Mo.
Joan married Marcell Fogal on Dec. 24, 1937, in Albuquerque, N.M.
She was a proprietor for Instant Fire Protection Co., a fire protection supplier and service company in Salem.
She lived in the Silverton and Aurora areas before moving to Salem 12 years ago.
Joan was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion Auxiliary, and she enjoyed fishing.
She is survived by daughter Mayonne Thompson of Salem; brother George Kirkpatrick of Moscow, Colo.; and a grandson.

Marie L. Buck
WILSONVILLE — Marie L. Buck of Wilsonville died June 18, 2004. She was 88.
A celebration of life service was held Saturday, July 31, at the Willamette Inn, 30800 S.W. Parkway Ave.
She was born Marie Nelson on Oct. 5, 1915, at Lewiston, Mont.
Marie married Barney Buck of Buck Ambulance, Portland; he preceded her in death in 1986.
Memorial contributions may be made to Willamette Falls Hospice.

Sierra Lynn Brya
SILVERTON — Sierra Lynn Brya, the infant daughter of Cara and David Brya of Wilsonville, was born and died July 22, 2004, in Silverton.
Services were held July 27 at Cavalry Cemetery in Mt. Angel.
She is survived by her parents; grandparents Helen and Tim Philips of Tempe, Ariz., Lynn and Richard Evans of Woodburn; Kim and Beverly Seeds of Taylorsville, N.C., and Karen and David Brya of Keizer; great-grandparents Gloria Hyer of Woodburn; Grace Seeds of Hickory, N.C.; Gene Harrell of Woodburn; and Gertrude Mays of Warrenville, Ill.; and great-great grandmother Lois Booth of Tuscaloosa, Ala.

E. ‘Gene’ R. DuBuque
WOODBURN — Eugene “Gene” R. DuBuque, 95, of Woodburn died Aug. 2, 2004.
Services will be private.
Interment will be at Willamette National Cemetery.
Born May 3, 1909 in Bellingham, Wash., he lived in Spokane, Calif., and North Bend before moving to Woodburn in 1987.
Gene married Helen Schroeder on May 27, 1944, in Reno, Nev.
He enjoyed reading.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Woodburn; brother Austin DuBuque of Evansville, Ind.; nephew Harold Lewis of Joplin, Mo.; and niece Janice Peticolas of Colorado Springs, Colo.

Helen E. Winters
WOODBURN — Helen E. Winters, 85, of Woodburn, died Aug. 5, 2004.
A memorial service will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8, at the Barclay Square Apartments recreational room in Woodburn.
She enjoyed being with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children Sharon, Paul and Steve; brother Donald; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd, and a granddaughter, June.
Robert E. Will
HUBBARD — Robert E. Will of Hubbard died Oct. 13, 2004. He was 66.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at Cornwell Colonial Chapel. Interment will follow at the Aurora Community Cemetery.
A reception will follow the service at 4 p.m. Oct. 18 at Pythian Hall in Aurora, located at the corner of Second and Liberty streets.
Born Aug. 27, 1938, in Portland, he grew up in Aurora and graduated from North Marion High School. He attended Oregon Tech (OIT) in Klamath Falls.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Robert married Jean Brundridge on April 4, 1964.
The couple made their home in Canby, before moving to Hubbard in 1966.
He was a founding member of the Pudding River Road & Gun Club and enjoyed black powder shooting, hunting, and trap shooting. He had taught hunter safety courses and volunteered with the Hubbard Fire Department.
He was a heavy equipment operator for Local 701 Union, before retiring in 2001, and was a member of the AA for more than 20 years.
He is survived by wife Jean Will of Hubbard; daughters Susan and son-in-law Gaylen Weigand of Canby, Nancy and son-in-law Rod Kacalek of Hubbard; son Dale and daughter-in-law Tamera Will of Canby; sister Elaine Ihle of Aurora; and grandchildren Camille, Sydney, Garrett, Cheyenne and Shane.
The family suggests contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
