Virgil Nelson Rust
RUST, Virgil Nelson — Of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, slipped away to be with his Lord on Thursday, January 26, 2006. He was born on January 14, 1925, in Dillard, Oregon, to Virgil Nelson Rust Sr. and Marnie Rose Rust and lived most of his life in the Myrtle Creek area with the exception of his service in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. Nelson was the loving husband of Mary Frances Rust who preceded him in death on January 27, 1988. They were married 44 years and parented four children. He was a devout Christian and member of the Myrtle Creek Church of the Nazarene where he served Christ and the congregation in many capacities. He served the community on the board of the Tri City Fire Department, volunteered at a Roseburg hospital, drove a school bus, worked on the crew of the Tri City Ambulance Service, and was a loyal supporter of sports in Myrtle Creek and South Umpqua High Schools. He was probably best known as ‘Nellie’ at Del’s Building Supply where he was employed for many years. Nelson is survived by his children, Debbie and her husband, Chris O’Rourke of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Scott Rust of Myrtle Creek; Tim and his wife, Shannon Rust of Echo, Oregon; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Christa and Rick Schwan of Myrtle Creek; Angelique and Arthur King; Nathan Rust and Miranda Rust, all of Portland, Oregon; Kalaya and Josh Schenewerk of Las Vegas, Nevada; Brian Rust and Brooke Rust of Moscow, Idaho; Brynna Rust of Echo, Oregon; Michael and Patti O’Rourke of Mandeville, Louisiana; Chris O’Rourke III of Poway, California; two great-grandchildren, Schyler Mary Frances Schwan of Myrtle Creek; Michael O’Rourke Jr. of Mandeville; three sisters, Eunice Laurence of Myrtle Creek; Carlene Foley of Roseburg, Oregon; Carolyn Hoyle and her husband, Leslie of Portland; and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Nelson was preceded in death in addition to Mary, by his parents; son, Toby; granddaughter, Sandra Rust; infant sister, Lucille; father-in-law, Ted Osborn; mother-in-law, Bertha Osborn; brothers-in-law, Ken Laurence, Boyd Foley, Duane Osborn and Gregory Osborn. Viewing will be from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2006, at Mountain View Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m., on Saturday, February 4, 2006, at the Myrtle Creek Church of the Nazarene.
Morris W. Churchman
CHURCHMAN, Morris W. — Age 70, of Silverdale, Washington, passed away on January 27, 2006. He was born on January 19, 1936, in Waurika, Oklahoma, to O.V. and Hazel Churchman. He was a former resident of Sutherlin, Oregon, until graduation from Sutherlin High School in 1955. He remained active in attending his high school reunions. Morris lived in Bremerton, Washington, since 1957. “Morrie” loved watching his loved ones grow which included his five grandchildren, Meghan, Brooke, Stevie, Garyn and Monica. His passion was playing Senior Slowpitch, which he had done for the past 15 years. “Morrie” was active coaching his children as well as his grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Mark Churchman of East Wenatchee, Washington; daughter, Morie Phinney of Silverdale; daughter, Kim Morris of Auburn, Washington; brother, O. Layne Churchman of Rowley, Texas; and special friend, Judy Rice of Poulsbo, Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Churchman; his parents; and his nephew, Lance Churchman. Sharon Kay Fry
FRY, Sharon Kay — Age 56, of Waldport, Oregon, formerly of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on January 28, 2006. She was born on August 12, 1949, in Raymond, Washington. Sharon went to school locally. Sharon moved to Waldport in 1995. Sharon is survived by her son, Rene Corona and his family of Waldport; twin sons, Shane and Shaun Moreno and their families of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughter, Charlene Pogassi and her family of Carson City, Nevada; daughter, Leanna Moreno and son of San Jose, California; parents, Bob and Angel Fry; sister and her husband, Dana and Stan McHugill; brother, Craig Berndt and his family; nephew, Rudy Chavez and his family, all of Roseburg; and sister, Cindy Tyree and daughter of Federal Way, Washington. She was preceded in death by her fiance, Doug Cavanaugh on January 27, 2006; her mother, Leola Fry on December 10, 1972; and her brother, Roy Fry on November 5, 1997. Sharon and Doug’s ashes will be released in the Alsea River with her brother, Roy Fry’s ashes following, so they can all float out to their peaceful ocean paradise. Joe Fowler
FOWLER, Joe — Age 78, of Tenmile, Oregon, passed on Wednesday, February 1, 2006. He was born in Woodrow, West Virginia, to Henry and Bessie Fowler on January 29, 1928. Joe loved the Lord, his family and his country. He retired from the Army after 22 years of service and was a life member of the Winston VFW. He was also a member of the NRA, the NAUS, and the Garden Club. Joe contributed to several charities and in the late 1960’s opened his home to foster children for over 15 years. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening and working in his greenhouse, blue grass music and having Saturday night jam sessions. When “Fire In The Sky” filmed in Oakland, Oregon, Joe landed the part of restaurant owner. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue Fowler of Tenmile; his five children, Valerie and her husband, Dan Stafford; Deanna and her husband, Dennis Dixon; Jim Fowler; Leland and his wife, Marcie Fowler; JoAnn and her husband, Tim Burgan; brother, Arden of Virginia; sister, Monnie Malcomb of West Virginia; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father; mother; and sister, Opal Rider. Joe was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. He will be loved and missed the rest of our years. A memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at Hucrest Community Church of God, 2075 N.W. Witherspoon, in Roseburg, Oregon. The church will be hosting a reception following the service.

Ruby Pearl Fisher
FISHER, Ruby — Age 94, of Winston, Oregon, passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2006. She was born on April 24, 1911, in Falls City, Oregon, to parents, Alton Jay and Viola (Weiser) Zuver. Her mother passed away during the big flu epidemic when Ruby was nine years old. She helped her dad raise her two small brothers. Ruby was married at an early age to William Hoppe and this marriage survived for many years. They had one daughter, Dorothy Vaughn. They lived most of their life in and around Falls City, before moving to Eugene, Oregon, in 1945, where she worked for Payless Drug Store in the Camera Shop. Ruby became involved in many organizations, always loving people and had many friends. She later moved to Los Angeles, California, where she continued to work in a camera shop at Disney Land. She moved to Winston in 1976, to be near her brother, Eton and his family of Tenmile, Oregon. She later married Roy Fisher of Winston. She was a member of the local Garden Club, volunteered at the Winston Visitors Center from 1989 to 1999. She was coordinator of the Visitors Center from 1993 to 1994, member of the Chamber of Commerce, active in the Senior Center, Melon Festival member and a Blood Mobile Volunteer. Ruby was involved with R.U.O.K. She also was a board member and worker in the Senior Village Crafters Store in Roseburg. Survivors include daughter, Dorothy Vaughn of Dillard, Oregon; grandchildren, Lynn and Steve Torrey and great-granddaughter Heather; numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and husband Roy Fisher. Private family services were held under the direction of Taylor’s Family Chapel.
William Remington Miles
MILES, William Remington — A celebration of life will be held at a later date for William Remington Miles, age 71, of Roseburg, Oregon. William was born on January 12, 1935, in Portland, Oregon, to Edward and Louisa Miles. He passed February 9, 2006 at his home in Roseburg. William served in the U.S. Marine Corps from July 29, 1952, until December 31, 1972. On March 16, 1956, he married Lola Bullard. They moved to Roseburg in 1981 where he volunteered at CASA for many years. William loved to ride his motorcycle and enjoyed spending time with his family. His farm in Dixonville, Oregon, where he and Lola raised miniature horses, was his pride and joy. He loved the space in the hills and called Oregon God’s country. William is survived by his wife, Lola Miles of Roseburg; son, Patrick Miles of Goodyear, Arizona; daughters, Julie Rowan and Mari-jo Miles, both of Roseburg; eight brothers and sisters and four grandchildren. Dixie O. Haukoos
HAUKOOS, Dixie — Age 61, of Winchester Bay, Oregon, passed away on February 9, 2006. Dixie lived on the Oregon coast most of her life. She graduated from Reedsport High School and later taught driver's education for 11 years there. She married Rodger Mast in 1963 and had two children. She married John Haukoos in 1984. Together they owned and operated the Oasis Restaurant and Lounge for 20 years in Winchester Bay. Dixie was a vivacious person who had an incredible work ethic and put 100% in anything she did. Her family and friends were most important to her. She enjoyed volleyball, softball, riding snowmobiles, reading, listening to heavy metal music and doing jig saw puzzles. Dixie is survived by her mother, Vera Burleson; daughter, Danni Smith and her husband, Brent of Canby, Oregon; son, Kip Mast and his wife, Julie of Eagle Creek, Oregon; sisters, Carol Harris of Houston, Texas; Debi Schaughnessy of Grants Pass, Oregon; Karin Peterson of Springfield, Oregon; brother, Ronald Burleson of Wilmington, California; and two granddaughters, Tatem and Emma. Dixie was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Wilson and step-father, Harold Burleson. A memorial service will be held on February 18, 2006, at 2 p.m., at the Reedsport High School Pacific Auditorium. A reception will be held following the services at the Presbyterian Church. William Remington Miles
MILES, William Remington — Age 71, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on February 9, 2006, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at home with his family at his bedside. William was born on January 12, 1935, in Portland Oregon, to Edward and Louisa Miles. William served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps, serving one tour in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He enlisted on July 29, 1952, and retired on December 31, 1972. On March 16, 1956, he married Lola Bullard. This March would have been their 50th wedding anniversary. They moved to Roseburg in 1981, where he volunteered at CASA for many years. William loved to ride his motorcycle and family was most important to him. His miniature horse ranch in Dixonville, Oregon, was his pride and joy. He loved this country and frequently called Oregon "God's Country". He enjoyed the green hills, the mountains and the trees. William is survived by his wife, Lola Miles of Roseburg; his son, Patrick Miles of Goodyear, Arizona; daughters, Julie Rowan and Mari-jo Miles, both of Roseburg; eight brothers and sisters; and four grandchildren. William did not wish to have a funeral, so a celebration of life will be held at a later date. Angalee Elizabeth Brady
BRADY, Angalee Elizabeth — Age 51, of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, passed away at a local hospital early on Monday, February 13, 2006. She was the daughter of Delano and Dorothy Casten of Glendale, Oregon. She was born on October 8, 1954, in Roseburg, Oregon, and lived most life in the Myrtle Creek area. Angalee was a graduate of Glendale High School and went to Umpqua Community College for nearly two years. She was a member of the Order Of The Eastern Star in Canyonville, Oregon. She loved flowers and gardening. Surviving are one son, Tyler James Woodral of Salem, Oregon; one daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Walczak of Myrtle Creek; two brothers, Patrick James and Shelly Brady of Marysville, Washington; Larry Wayne and his wife, Marsha Brady of Springfield, Oregon; one sister, Stephanie and her husband, Bryan Mortensen of South Seattle, Washington; and one granddaughter, Riley Woodral of Salem. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1040 Lillian Street in Myrtle Creek, with a private burial to follow at the Glendale Cemetery. James Arthur Banducci
BANDUCCI, James Arthur — Age 80, of Umpqua, Oregon, passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2006. Jim was born on August 27, 1925, in Bakersfield, California, to Ido and Teresa (Antongiovanni) Banducci. He was raised in Bakersfield where he met the love of his life, Mary Jane Valley. They were married on June 20, 1946. While living in Bakersfield Jim farmed and six of their seven children were born. In March 1962, they moved their family to Umpqua where he farmed and ranched. Their youngest was born in Oregon. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a man who could talk to any and everyone and did. The kids who worked for him in the bean fields and on the ranch all liked “Mr. B” and always stopped and talked when they saw him in town. Along with ranching, he worked in construction, at Douglas County Lumber Yard and Yoncalla Food Center over the years. He was very active in the Umpqua community. He served as an Umpqua School Member and was a member of the Sutherlin Lions. Jim was also a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sutherlin. He enjoyed getting out and visiting with his friends and also liked having his friends drop in to visit with him. The past few years his activities were slowed due to Parkinson’s disease. Survivors include his children, Teresa and Steve Strauss; Sandra Powell and Dave; Annette Banducci; Richard and Dena Banducci; Robert and Edie Banducci of Douglas County; Elizabeth and Gary Gilbert of Tennessee; James Jr. and Judy Banducci of Idaho; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Ben; George; Rudy; Ray; and Ralph all of Bakersfield, California; Al of Henderson, Nevada; sister, Donna Dunham of Bakersfield; brother-in-law, Richard Valley and sister-in-law, Susan Valley of California. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years in 1994; his parents; brother, Leroy; and grandson, Jeremy. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., on Monday, February 20, 2006, at Chapel of the Firs with the Reverend Mr. John Stenbeck officiating. Verna Dame Dean
DEAN, Verna Dame — Age 71, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2006, in a Roseburg hospital. She was born on May 2, 1934, in Malden, Massachusetts, the daughter of Clarence and Bertha (Hargraves) Dame. She was raised and educated in Dover, New Hampshire, where as a girl she trained as an opera singer. Verna moved west in 1966 and settled in Medford, Oregon, where she raised Siamese cats for many years. She moved to Washington and later to California before returning in 1994 to Oregon, this time making Roseburg her home. She worked as a caregiver for the state. Verna still had a love for music and enjoyed singing and playing the organ. She also loved to garden. She is survived by her children, Valerie Brooks of Arizona City, Arizona; Carlene Dean of Fremont, California; Pamela Baker of White City, Oregon; Stephanie Dean of San Francisco, California; Scott Dean of Medford; Melissa Dean Long and her husband, Anthony of Roseburg; grandchildren, Brianna; Amanda; Logan; Morgan; Terrence; Colin; Shennen; Levi; and Michael. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m., on Saturday, February 18, 2006, at Taylor’s Family Chapel in Winston, Oregon. Private interment will follow at the Civil Bend Pioneer Cemetery in Winston.
Winifred R. Duarte
DUARTE, Winifred R. — Age 87, of Sutherlin, Oregon, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2006, at a Roseburg hospital. Charlene was born in Hasty, Arkansas, to Alvin and Martha (Agee) Reynolds on July 25, 1918. She married her Joseph Victor Duarte in 1948. Charlene was a riveter supervisor for McDonald Douglas. After moving to Laguna Beach, California, Charlene worked as a grocery store checker, where she had the opportunity to shop for actress Bette Davis. In April of 1956, they lovingly adopted their son, David. Approaching retirement, they decided to open a mold making business for numerous porcelain doll makers and usually received the finished product from each doll mold casted. They even made the molds and ceramic pieces for Lawrence Welk (Bubbles with a Champagne Glass). After retirement, they decided to move to Roseburg, Oregon, continuing their well-known mold making business. After several years, they moved the business to Salem, Oregon. Charlene kept the business after Joe passed away. She really enjoyed making and painting several different figurines. She always showed visitors the endless array of dolls, and usually let them pick from figurines she had previously constructed. Charlene sent her guests away with a sugar lump doll or two, joyfully telling them to come back anytime. When her health became an issue, she moved to Sutherlin and retired. She will be missed by her many friends and her son, David and his wife, Kathy. She has been laid to rest with her husband, Joe at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
William LeRoy Guthrie
GUTHRIE, William LeRoy — Age 75, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on February 2, 2006. A memorial service will be held at Melrose Community Church on February 7, 2006, at 2 p.m. A reception will follow. William “Bill” was born on February 24, 1930, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Bill spent his younger years in Colorado, Nevada, and California before moving to Oregon in 1947. He served in the Merchant Marines and the Army. He enjoyed four-wheeling, hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. He was employed by the City of Drain and Douglas Electric for 32 years. He retired from Douglas Electric in 1992. Bill is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jane; son, David and his wife, Bobbi of Eugene, Oregon; two daughters, Diane and her husband, Jim Purvis of Exeter, California; Jo Ann and her husband, Ted Paselk of Roseburg; brothers, Raymond of Roseburg; Virgil of Sutherlin, Oregon; Steve of Ashland, Oregon; sister, Lily of West Point, California; two half-sisters, Elva of Idaho; and Margaret of Ohio; four grandchildren, Traci Weston; Rachelle Guthrie; Tiffany Mehra; Kyler Paselk; and two great-grandchildren, Stephani and McKayla Weston. Bill was preceded in death by his son, Otis Earl, who passed away shortly after his birth in 1953; his oldest sister, Melba; three half- brothers, Leonard, Olliver and William; and one half-sister, Evelyn. Bill will be laid to rest alongside Otis at the Civil Bend Cemetery in Winston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Douglas Home Care (Hospice).
Jack E. Hunter
HUNTER, Jack E. — Age 73, of Sutherlin, Oregon, went to be with his Lord on January 31, 2006. He was born on August 4, 1932, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Paul and Lola (Fox) Hunter. Jack graduated from Oakland High School and attended Seattle Pacific College in Seattle, Oregon. He enlisted in the Army after college and served in Korea. After his tour of duty, Jack started his teaching and coaching career that lasted over 30 years. His first two years of teaching were in Raymond, Washington. He then returned to the Roseburg area and taught and coached at Wilbur Elementary and Winchester Elementary Schools. Jack always wanted to bring out the best in his students and those he coached. Jack was an avid sports fan. His greatest love was golf. He valued greatly all of his golf buddies at Oak Hills Golf Club. Jack was a member of the men’s golf association there. He liked to travel. Hawaii was his favorite place. Jack married Sherry on October 14, 1978, in Reno, Nevada. Jack had just recently returned to this area after living in a golf community in Florida for five years. In Florida, he was a member of Family Worship Center Church. He is survived by his wife, Sherry of Sutherlin; step-daughter, Becky Troxel and her husband, Dan of Eugene; step-son, Rick Welch of Longwood, Florida; four grandchildren that he loved dearly, Sam, Hannah and Campbell Troxel; and Christopher Welch; brother, John Hunter of Sutherlin; sister, Lola Arrant of Tenmile, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, James and Paul; one sister, Veronica Begley; and step-daughter, Julie Welch. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on February 18, 2006, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. in Sutherlin at Pineview Mobile Home Park’s Clubhouse.
Clarence ‘Sarge’ Wayne Brown
BROWN, Clarence “Sarge” Wayne — Age 87, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2006, at his home. He was born on January 27, 1919, in Eldon, Missouri to George W. and Sarah Brown. He entered the U.S. Army on June 19, 1941. He served 28 months in the South Pacific. His unit set a record for 112 consecutive days of combat in New Guniea. He received 2 Purple Hearts and 1 Bronze Star. Mr. Brown retired on March 31, 1963 at the rank of Master Sergeant. On August 19, 1946 in Phoenix, Arizona he married Patricia Barrett. The Brown’s moved from Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri to Roseburg, Oregon in 1961. Mr. Brown worked for 20 years at Champion International Plywood Mill and retired as the assistant purchasing agent. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, cutting firewood but most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. The Brown’s were members of First Conservalive Baptist Church and later attended Green Community Church. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Brown of Roseburg, Oregon; son, Jeffrey Brown and his wife, Teresa of Ft. Memorial services will be held Wednesday February 8, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Wilson’s Chapel of the Roses. Mattie Jo Hackett
Hackett, Mattie Jo — Age 74 of Riddle, Oregon, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 3, 2006 from her home. She was born March 4, 1931 in Dripping Springs, Texas to parents, Chester and Lora (Offill) Wood. The family moved to Washington State and in 1944 settled in Bakersfield, California. Mattie Jo graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1947. There she met the love of her life, JC Hackett and on January 28, 1948, in Las Vegas, Nevada, they were united in marriage. They lived in the Bakersfield/Oildale area where they had two boys, Wayne and Erwin. They later moved to Mojave, California where they adopted their precious baby girl, Pam. The Hackett family lived in Bishop, Kyburz and Tehachapi, California before moving to Riddle in 1969. JC and Jo owned and operated Day Or Night Electric for many years. Jo was active in civic and church affairs for much of her life. She and JC started the work of beginning the Tri City Church of Christ in 1973 and have faithfully served the church and their community, especially through the Benevolence Ministry. She was also active in school activities with their children and grandchildren. Her greatest love was her husband, family and the Lord. Most of her energy was spent on spoiling her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of over 58 years, JC of Riddle and two sons, Wayne Hackett of Kapaau, Kauai, Hawaii and Erwin Hackett and his wife Denora of Riddle, Oregon. She also leaves a sister Alice Ofhill of Tiburon, California. Her grandchildren are Dawn Hackett, Erwin Hackett and his wife Eileen and Cody Hackett and his wife Tami, all of Riddle, Katie (Murphy) Parrott and her husband Jim of Ketchikan, Alaska and Pat Murphy of Redding, California. Three great-grandchildren also survive Jo: Dylan Hackett of Riddle and Grace and JoyHanna Parrott of Ketchikan. Other family and friends include Lucky and Marvelyn Mullins and family, Rick Murphy and family, Doug Dixon and family, her church family and her dedicated caregivers. She was preceded in death by her father, Chester Wood, her mother and stepfather, Lora and George Redelsperger, daughter, Pamela (Hackett) Murphy and a great-granddaughter, Brooke Michelle Kortum-Hackett. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, February 7, 2006 at the Tri-City Church Of Christ. Officiating will be Pastor Dan Jocoy. Interment will follow at the Riddle Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Monday, February 6, 2006 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Taylor’s Family Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jo’s memory can be made to the Tri-City Church Of Christ Benevolence Fund.

Karel Dolnick
DOLNICK, Karel — Age 66, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on February 5, 2006. She was born on July 26, 1939, in Bloomington, Indiana, to Fred L. Brown and Anne L. Brown (Lemon). Karel graduated from Indiana University School of Education in Bloomington. She was the recorder of The College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University in Bloomington. She also served as City Clerk in Bloomington. Karel was co-founder of Helping Hand Referral Service in Bloomington. Karel is survived by her mother, Anne L. Brown of Roseburg; brother, George M. Brown and his wife, Sally of Roseburg; daughter, Karla D. Newton and her husband, Sean of Austin, Texas; daughter, Bena T. Rittehouse of Reno, Nevada; aunt, Jean Kain of Roseburg; granddaughter, Karolyn M. Newton of Austin; and granddaughter, Rachel S. Newton of Austin. A private memorial service was held at the home of her brother. Karel will be laid to rest in her home town of Bloomington. She will be missed dearly. We hope she will rest in the arms of an Angel.
Roger Dean Hamilton
HAMILTON, Roger Dean — Age 53, of Winston, Oregon, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2006, as the result of an automobile accident that day. He was born on November 10, 1952, in Pittsburg, California, the son of Howard and Joanne (Youngberg) Hamilton. He was united in marriage to Pam Eusted on June 15, 1974, in Coquille, Oregon. He worked in plywood mills since 1971, and had been with Roseburg Forest Product for many years. He was a member of the Lumber and Sawmill Workers local #2949. Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and especially cutting firewood. He enjoyed driving around in the hills and Loon Lake was one of his favorite places. Roger loved the countryside and was a country boy at heart. He loved his family and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He also adored his dogs, which he referred to as “his girls.” He always put everyone before himself and will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Pam of Winston; his daughter, Angie “Sis” Meyer and her fiancé, Andy Winters of Roseburg; his son, Chris “Boy” Hamilton and his girlfriend, Misty Cockeram of Lookingglass, Oregon; a very special granddaughter, Braylee “Boo Boo”; a much-anticipated grandchild due this summer; his parents, Howard and Joanne Hamilton of Salem, Oregon; his mother-in-law, Dee DeWald of Coquille; two brothers, Marty Hamilton and his wife, Brenda of Coos Bay, Oregon; David Hamilton and his wife, Debbie of Olalla, Oregon; as well a sister, Linda Pike and her friend, Daryl of Woodburn, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews. His father-in-law, Arnie DeWald as well as several aunts and uncles preceded him in death. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, February 8, 2006, at Taylor’s Family Chapel in Winston. A reception will follow at the Winston Community Center. Private interment will be at the Lookingglass Cemetery.
