Cheri Lou Zimbelman
ZIMBELMAN, Cheri Lou – Age 60, a resident of Roseburg, Oregon, since 1950, lost her battle with cancer on March 8, 2005. She was born on March 6, 1945, in Vancouver, Washington, to parents, Donald and Charlotte Webberley. Cheri was a very active piano player and country musician for over 40 years. She enjoyed singing, dancing, helping others, playing tennis, spending time with her grandchildren, traveling and laughter. Most recently, she devoted several years to playing piano for retirement centers and other service-based organizations. Cheri was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Ray Zimbelman, on August 1, 1992. She is survived by her close personal friend, Joe Baptista of Roseburg; her daughter, Terri Hanna of Tenmile, Oregon; daughter, Katrina Christian of Roseburg; son, Todd Zimbelman of Eugene, Oregon; six grandchildren, Cassie; Dustin; Chris; Cameron; McKenzie and Elizabeth; one great-granddaughter, Jade; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and her beloved sister, Linda Sammons of Winston, Oregon. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 11, 2005, at 2 p.m., at Wilson’s Chapel of the Roses. Immediately following the memorial service, there will be a brief committal service at Roseburg Memorial Gardens followed by a celebration of life reception at 4 p.m., at the Melrose Community Church. Memorial contributions in Cheri’s honor may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland, Oregon.
PeggyAnn Florence Prather
PRATHER, PeggyAnn Florence — Age 57, took the hand of Jesus on March 6, 2005, at her home after a battle with cancer this past year. Peggy was born on December 18, 1947, to George and Laverne (Newmen) Dickerson in St. Louis, Missouri. Peggy grew up and graduated from high school in St. Louis. She worked for a time at a finance Co. in St. Louis and then met the love of her life, John Prather. Peggy and John were married on April 6, 1968, at the First Baptist Church in St. Louis. To this union a blessing arrived, a son, Phillip. The family later moved to Roseburg, Oregon, in March of 1994. Peggy loved reading and small children, so it was not surprising when she went to work at Fullerton IV Elementary as a Parent-Teacher Coordinator, Reading Specialist and Instructional Assistant. It warmed her heart when kids would run up to her in a store and give her a big hug. Peggy also found herself very involved in First Christian Church as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher, and in Bible Studies. Her favorite music was Praise Music and Sacred Hymns. Peggy is survived by her husband of 36 years, John; son, Phillip and his wife, Bobbi; one very special grandson, Bradley James; brother, George and his wife, Margaret of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; aunt, Alberta Bafunno of St. Louis, Missouri; aunt, Florence Bruce and uncle, Clarence of St. Louis; mother-in-law, Essie Prather-Fox of Murphysboro, Illinois; sister-in-law, Janice Holloway and her husband, William of Murphysboro; sister-in-law, Joyce Piper and her husband, William of Dixon, Illinois; sister-in-law, Jolene Prather of Overland Park, Kansas; brother-in-law, Jim and his wife, Marcia of Las Vegas, Nevada; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Laverne; niece, Becky; nephew, Brian; uncle, Rome; and father-in-law, Ray Prather. Durward ‘Dude’ Rose
ROSE, Durward “Dude” — Age 75, of Sutherlin, Oregon, passed away on August 10, 2004, due to injuries he received in an auto accident. He was born on September 21, 1928, to parents, Durward Sr. and Dorothy Rose. Dude graduated from Sutherlin High School and attended U of O and O.I.T. He owned and operated an auto body body shop, managed West Wood Lanes, and was a charter member of Pacific Racing Association. He retired from Independent Motor Rebuilder in the mid-1990's. Dude loved to be at the local race car tracks helping anybody that would ask for his help to make their cars go faster. A memorial service will be held on March 12, 2005, at 2 p.m., at Sutherlin Family Church, 878 West Sixth Ave., Sutherlin.
Ronald E. Farmer Sr.
FARMER Sr., Ronald E. — Age 64, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 13, 1940, in Fresno, California, to Robert Lee and Thelma (Deen) Farmer. Ron served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1959 to 1961. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Farmer; children, John Farmer of Melrose, Oregon; Ronald E. Farmer Jr. of California; Gale Sing of Fresno, California; Sheryl Morton of Kingsburg, California; Karen Sims of Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren; brothers, Alton Farmer of Roseburg; Leon Farmer of Manteca, California; sisters, Deborah Hubach of Merced, California; Betty Briggs of Roseburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ron will be missed very much by his family and friends. A graveside memorial will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, March 11, 2005, at the Roseburg National V.A. Cemetery. Ola F. Dingus
Dingus, Ola F. Jr. — Age 69, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2005. He was born on April 10, 1935, in Pardee, Virginia, to Ola and Ruth (Baker) Dingus. Ola is survived by four children, Dennis Dingus and his wife, Kathy; Frankie Dingus; Ronnie Dingus, all of Coquille, Oregon; Laurie Dingus of Myrtle Creek, Oregon; grandson, Alex Dingus of Coquille; sisters, Margie Owens and her husband, Ray of Myrtle Creek; Lorraine Phillips of Roseburg; brothers, John and Daniel Dingus of Myrtle Creek; and lots of nieces and nephews. Ola was a faller before he retired and fire watched. He loved to hunt, fish, and gamble at Seven Feathers Casino. Ola will be joining his parents, Ola and Ruth Dingus; sisters, Agnes Church; Barbara Crook; and brother, Don Dingus who preceded him in death. Ola will be missed by all who loved and knew him. Florence Schmerer Chaiton
CHAITON, Florence Schmerer — Age 88, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Sunday, February 27, 2004, with her family around her. She was born on April 16, 1916, in New York City, New York, the daughter of Harry and Selma (Hirtenstein) Grossberger. She moved to Miami, Florida in 1950, and raised her family there. From around 1980 until 2004 she lived in various places in Florida, settling finally to the south of Tampa. In September, 2004 she moved to Oregon. She was united in marriage to William Schmerer in 1940. Some years after his untimely death, she married Phillip Chaiton, who also predeceased her. Florence was a legal secretary by profession, working in that field in New York and in Miami. She served in World War II as a civilian employee of the United States Signal Corps in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She volunteered countless hours to the community in which she lived, including active fundraising and support in the auxiliary for the National Children’s Cardiac Hospital in Miami, serving as a reading aide for children in the Tampa public schools and always, in one way or another, supporting causes that benefitted children and others in need. When she was 80 she began studying for her Bat Mitzvah, including studying the Hebrew language for the first time, and proved her competence in a ceremony in January 1997. Florence is survived by her sister, Helen Arenwald of New York, her sister-in-law Margaret Schmerer of Woodland Hills. California, her three children, Susan Schmerer Haacke and husband Wally of Umpqua, Oregon, Hal Schmerer and wife Miriam of Manchester, Missouri, and David Schmerer and wife Priscilla of Jacksonville, Florida, 6 grandchildren, Avi Schmerer and wife Tonya of Phoenix, Arizona, Naomi Schmerer Briggs of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Matthew Schmerer of Austin, Texas, Jason Schmerer of Jacksonville, Florida, Jeannie Callahan and husband Joseph of Winston, Oregon, and Kathy Cross and husband Tom of Sutherlin, Oregon, six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services were held in Miami, Florida, where she is interred at Mt. Nebo/Kendall cemetery. James F. Embree
EMBREE, James F.— Age 78, of Lincoln City, Oregon, passed away on February 24, 2005. He was born on May 26, 1926, to James and Barbara Embree. He married Delores Robertson and had four children. Mr. Embree served in the U.S. Air Force retiring after 33 years. On March 31, 1979, he married Sheila Dodd in Arcadia, California. Mr. and Mrs. Embree moved to Roseburg from California to raise two of their grandchildren. Mr. Embree worked for the Roseburg and Winston Post Offices. He enjoyed camping on the Oregon coast, traveling, and animals. When he retired, Jim and Sheila traveled up and down the West Coast visiting family and friends. After the passing of Sheila in 1996, Jim and his “traveling companion” Honey continued to travel. Jim was a quiet, gentle man. We will miss his sense of humor as anyone who ever received a birthday card from him knows. Or when you asked how he was, he would always smile and say “Terrible”. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Shelia and his parents. Jim is survived by his children, Renee Funk of Washington; Sherry Arkosy of California; Roger Embree and Michelle Valles of Washington; Rusty Diaz and Tina Stegmeier of Oregon; his brother, Jack of Washington; sixteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A family memorial will be held on the coast at a later date.
Betty A. Gomes
GOMES, Betty A. — Was born in El Cerrito, California, on August 1, 1917, to Arthur and Frieda (Bosch) Martinez. Betty passed away on March 9, 2005, at her daughter's home in Tillamook, Oregon. Betty's mother passed away when she was three and she and her sisters were raised in a convent in San Francisco, California, by the Sisters of Charity. In 1950, Betty and Joseph Gomes were married in Oakland, California. She was a devout Catholic and spent her life involved in religious and civic activities. She was an avid gardener. Betty belonged to PTA's through her children's school years. She was a member of the American Legion in Cottage Grove, Oregon, where she held several offices, and of the VFW in Sisters, Oregon. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, through all her years. Mrs. Gomes was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; a son, Joe Gomes Jr.; three sisters, Connie, Frieda, and Myrtle; and two brothers, Joe and Art Martinez. She is survived by three daughters, Bernadette Sorensen and her husband, Jim of Tillamook, Oregon; Bev Wiborg of Lacey, Washington; and Lorraine Patrick of Colusa, California; daughter-in-law, Irene Gomes of Chico, California; 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren; and by her nieces and nephews, Marilyn and Bill Breslin of Santa Rosa, California; Jim and Annie Kirk of Parumph, Nevada; Larry and Dolores Meyer of La Crescenta, California; and Bill "Skippy" Martinez of Olympia, Washington. Betty was laid to rest next to her husband at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Roseburg. The family would be grateful for donations in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association or Tillamook County Hospice. Carl Roth
ROTH, Carl— Passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, after a short illness. Carl was born on July 7, 1911, in Melville, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was the youngest of 12 children born to Ludwig and Margareta Rathgeber. His parents were immigrants from Austria who migrated to Canada in 1886. His early childhood was spent in Fenwood, Canada on his family’s ranch. In 1924, his family returned to Melville, where he attended high school. While in Melville, Carl married and had two sons. In 1938, he moved his family to Vancouver, British Columbia, where he started his career as a painting contractor. In 1952, the family moved to Roseburg, Oregon, where Carl had a successful painting contractor business for many years. In 1975, he married his present wife, Ruth in Reno, Nevada. Carl found great joy in the company of his family. He loved to celebrate the milestones of his life. At 93, he was still very active teaching himself to use the computer. He kept abreast of the financial markets daily. He lovingly cared for his home, gardens, pet squirrels and his birds. Carl is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, Wayne Roth and his wife, Jan of Canada; Bill Roth and his wife, Lila of Roseburg; Ronnie Denn and his wife, Nancy of Fayetteville, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandson. He also leaves behind dozens of nieces and nephews and cousins in Canada. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at Roseburg Memorial Gardens at 11:30 a.m. WILSON’S Chapel of the Roses is handling the arrangements. William ‘Bill’ Anthony Deis
Deis, William Anthony — Age 67, passed away on March 9, 2005. Bill was born on June 15, 1937 to John & Lillian (O’Leary) Deis in Portland, Oregon. From there his family moved to Oak Grove in 1940. From 1943 he attended St. John’s, where he attended Grade School in Milwaukie until 1951. Then in 1951 Bill went to Columbia Prep. High School and was the last graduating class in 1955 before the school closed. Bill was an active participant in his Catholic Faith, serving as an altar boy from elementary through High School. Bill enjoyed playing Baseball, Basketball, and Football. Bill would occasionally become mischievious and get into trouble. Bill loved visiting and telling stories with old school friends and classmates. He never missed a class reunion. Bill was especially looking forward to his 50th class reunion for Columbia Prep on May 15, 2005 from High School. Bill worked for Southern Pacific Railroad from 1954 - 1996. Then Union Pacific Railroad bought out Southern Paciric in 1996 and BilJ worked for them until 1998. Bill had started working at Old Park Street Warehouse in Portland and spent a number of years in the Marketing and Sales Departments and then was a senior Auditor for S.P.R.R. for facilities across the United States. Under U.P.R.R. Bill spent the last few years working on teams implementing Ihe new computer systems in various locations throughout the old S.P. systems. Bill enjoyed his retirement playing golf, doing photography, reading, watching sports, and working in his yard with flowers. Bill loved his children and grandchildren and family. He will be greatly missed. Bill is survived by his daughter KellyJo and husband, Dennis, his daughter, Virginia ‘Ginny’ and husband, Tony, grandchildren, Jason, Audra, Anthony, Noelle, and Trista, great-grandchildren, Ashley and Breanna, brother, John and wife, Phylis, sister, Patricia and husband, Farris, brother, Jim and wife, Louise, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday March 14, 2005 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Juniper officiating. Jason Edward Ohm
OHM, Jason Edward — Was born on July 22, 1977, in Portland, Oregon. He moved with his family from Portland to Roseburg, Oregon, in 1986. He attended Fullerton IV, Fremont Junior High and graduated from Roseburg High School in 1995. Jason then attended Umpqua Community were he received his Associates Degree in Fire Science. During this time he was a student fireman with the Sutherlin Fire Department. On September 1, 1998, he was hired by Fire District #2, Roseburg, as a Firefighter-Paramedic. On September 9, 2002, Jason applied and began work for the Springfield Fire Department. He also completed his Bachelor of Arts Business Management through Northwest Christian College in 2003. Jason was one of the founding five members of the West Cascade Chapter of the Wind and Fire M.C., and he loved riding his Harley with his fellow firemen. On March 11, 2005, Jason lost his two year battle with cancer. He is survived by his parents, Dave and Anita Ohm; his sister, Janine Ohm; and the love of his life, Lisa Sweeney; grandparents, John and Doris Shepp; Jayne Brown; Swede and Barbara Ohm; aunts and uncles, Steve and Lisa Parker; Wes and Linda Hilliker; and two cousins, Ty Hilliker and family; and Tara Quisenberry and family. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2005, at 2 p.m., in Jacoby Auditorium at Umpqua Community College. Robert E. ‘Bob’ Klusman
KLUSMAN, Robert E. “Bob” — Age 77, a longtime resident of the Canyonville, Oregon area, passed away at church on March 12, 2005, in Tri-City, Oregon. He was born on May 1, 1927, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Clifford and Thelma Klusman, the second of seven children. He grew up in Blue Springs, Nebraska, and graduated from high school in Omaha, Nebraska. Bob enlisted in the Navy and served as an aviation mechanic. Following his discharge he joined his family in Grants Pass, Oregon, where he met and married his loving wife of 57 years, Juanita (Nita) Shinn. Bob joined his father in a family operated restaurant. Bob later helped to build Fir Ply in Central Point, Oregon. The family moved into Medford, Oregon, when he became manager of the timber department. 1974 brought the Klusmans to Canyonville when Bob began working at Herbert Lumber as timber manager. He retired from Roseburg Lumber in 1998 as a log buyer. Bob was very active in civic affairs of Canyonville, he was on the Planning Commission, City Council, and he served as mayor to complete Whin Walker's term. He helped to organize the Canyonville Citizen Patrol. He was involved in many musical activities including being in Barbershop Quartet, directing Sweet Adelines chorus and directed his church choir. He was involved for over thirty years in training Labrador Retrievers and was a charter member of Umpqua Valley Retriever Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. He is survived by his wife, Juanita; son, Tom and his wife, Cherie Klusman of Springfield, Oregon; sisters, Norma, Lucille, and Janet of Medford; RuthAnn of Etiot, Washington; brother, Jim of Agness, Oregon; and four grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at 1 p.m., with Pastor John P. Gustafson officiating at Tri-City Baptist Church, 158 Crest Drive, Myrtle Creek, Oregon. Bennie J. Morris
MORRIS, Bennie J. — Age 75, of Roseburg, Oregon, returned home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 9, 2005. He was born on January 7, 1930, in Belzoni, Mississippi, the son of Isaac and Edibell (Whitington) Morris. Mr. Morris was a native of Biloxi, Mississippi. He lived in Modesto, California, for thirty-six years and Roseburg for sixteen years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bird watching, woodworking and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Patti Duckworth and Michael Morris, both of Modesto; Melinda Nead of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin; Lonnie Speake of Winston, Oregon; Leah Fisher and Glenda Catanzarite, both of Turlock, California; one brother, Alton Morris of Natchez, Mississippi; sisters, Thelma Sturgis of West Monroe, Louisiana; Anna Meyers and Elaine Nugent, both of Little River, South Carolina; grandchildren, Anthony Womack of Citrus Heights, California; Benjamin Duckworth of Modesto; Sarah Firkins and Cortney Speake, both of Winston; Shawn Barlow and Fawn Cavaini, both of Turlock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darylene; one brother, two sisters, and two grandchildren. Coy Oneita Weaver
WEAVER, Coy Oneita—Age 72, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Saturday March 5, 2005. She was born in Omsville, Oregon, on February 4, 1933, to Selmer and Luciatia (Downing) Brown. Coy grew up in Omsville where she attended grade and high school. On July 2, 1954, Coy married Arden W. Weaver in Reno Nevada. Their only son, David W. Weaver was born on in 1956. Coy and Arden have been long time residents of Douglas County, moving to Roseburg in 1989 from Coquille, Oregon. She loved the outdoors, especially camping, hunting, and fishing. Coy is survived by her companion and caregiver of 50 years, Arden Weaver of Roseburg; son, David W. Weaver of Pendleton, Oregon; seven grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2005, at Roseburg Memorial Gardens in Roseburg, Oregon. Long and Shukle Memorial Chapel is handling the arrangements.
Clarence Wilburn Tucker
TUCKER, Clarence Wilburn — Age 80, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2005. He was born on October 7, 1924, in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, the son of Homer and Zelma (Benton) Tucker. He moved to Roseburg over fifty years ago and has lived here ever since. Mr. Tucker was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and he enjoyed fishing. “His dog Turbo will miss him very much.” He is survived by his three children, Winston Tucker and his wife, Diane of Medford, Oregon; Dave Tucker and his wife, Donna of Roseburg; and Gordon Tucker and his wife, Laurie of Gilbert, Arizona; one brother, Ken Tucker and his wife, Diane of Roseburg; five grandchildren, Nicole and Jaime Tucker of Medford; Matt and Aaron Tucker of Roseburg; and Shaun Tucker of Gilbert. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Helen Louise Tucker. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, J.D. and Olin. There will be no services held at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Taylor’s Family Mourtary.
Carolyn Frances Taylor
TAYLOR, Carol Frances—Age 62, passed away peacefully at her home in Sutherlin, Oregon, on Sunday, March 13, 2005. She was born on July 17, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Harry and Helen (Soltesz) Joachim. Carolyn married Thomas Taylor on December 22, 1985, in Lake Tahoe, California.Tom and Carolyn have lived in Douglas County for the past two years. She loved her grandchildren very much. Carolyn will be missed and in our hearts. She is survived by her husband, Thomas; children, James VanNoy; Chris VanNoy; Steven Taylor; Craig Taylor; Michael Taylor; mother, Helen Joachim; brother, Gary Joachim; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 18, 2005, at Long and Shukle Memorial Chapel in Roseburg, Oregon. Chaplin Teresa Brown will be officiating. Elizabeth M. ‘Betty’ Griffin
GRIFFIN, Elizabeth M. “Betty” — Age 88, of Winston, Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2005. She was born on August 23, 1916, in Juanita, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Elmer and Cora (Hildebrand) White. Betty's father was a telegrapher for the railroad so the family lived in many places including Canada, Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas, where she graduated from Hutchinson High School and then attended business college. On November 17, 1938, in San Francisco, California, she married Bert R. Griffin. Following the War, the Griffin's lived in Portland, Oregon, then in 1952, they moved to Roseburg, Oregon, after Bert was transfered while working for Eldridge Food Sales. Betty worked for many years in the Women's Wear Department of Miller's Department Store. In 1969, the Griffins' moved to Winston where they owned and operated the Winston Dairy Queen along with the Myrtle Creek Dairy Queen and Pigeon Point Dairy Queen. Betty was involved in many activities over the years such as being a Blue Bird Leader, PTA President for Hucrest School, Guardian of Job's Daughters, Bethel 72, Order of the Eastern Star and Beta Sigma Phi. Betty enjoyed gardening and her favorite pastime, crocheting. Survivors include one daughter, Louise Kimball and her husband, Jerry of Green; two grandchildren, Tracy Lyn Kimball and Cody Jerome Kimball; one brother, Frank White of Hornell, New York; along with many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Griffin was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, as well as her parents and four sisters. The family especially appreciates the kindness shown by the staff and management of Bridgewood Rivers and Mercy Hospice. Private cremation rites have been held. Private inurnment will be within the grounds of Roseburg Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Mrs. Griffin's memory to Mercy Hospice 2700 Stewart Parkway, Roseburg, OR, 97470, or they may be left at WILSON'S CHAPEL OF THE ROSES who is in charge of arrangements.
Willie F. Green
GREEN, Willie F.—Age 53, of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, passed away, on March 13, 2005, as a result of motorcycle accident. Willie is survived by his wife, Beatrice Green; twin daughters, Echo Green and Crystal Parker; two brothers, Raymond of Texas; Homer of Oregon; three sisters, Betty of Kentucky; Rosie of Wyoming; and Ivy of Idaho; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews. Willie was born in Cottonwood Port, Missouri. Beatrice and Willie were married in Douglas, Arizona, in 1974. Willie retired in 2002, and lived with his wife, in Myrtle Creek. Willie enjoyed riding his motorcycle, working on cars, camping, and spending time with his family. A service will be held at the family's home on Saturday, March 19, 2005, at 1 p.m. and there will be a memorial Motorcycle Run in Willie's honor at 4 p.m. starting at the family's home. Willie will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lloyd Albert Deardorff
DEARDORFF, Lloyd Albert— Age 67, of Grants Pass, Oregon, passed away on Saturday March 12, 2005, at a local medical center. A funeral service will be held at the Church of Christ on Old Hwy. 99 in Myrtle Creek, Oregon, on Saturday, March 19, 2005, at 2 p.m. with a graveside service immediately following at the Myrtle Creek IOOF Cemetery. Pastor Kevin Bates of Redwood Christian Church in Grants Pass will officiate. Chapel of the Valley-L.B. Hall Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Mr. Deardorff was born on May 25, 1937, in Arago, Oregon and was raised in Myrtle Creek where he attended school. On March 23, 1971, in Canyonville, Oregon, he married Donna Luella Adams, who survives. They have resided in Grants Pass since 1973. Lloyd was a truck driver for the last 50 years in the logging industry, having worked for Eagle Veneer many years, as well as being self-employed. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army from 1961 until 1964. He enjoyed horseback riding and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Donna Rae Goodrich of Grants Pass and Myra Hink of Myrtle Creek; two sons, Mike Deardorff of Junction City, Oregon and Gary Boulware of Canyonville; one brother, Donald Deardorff of Grants Pass; two sisters, Cecil Bay of Myrtle Creek and Betty Botello of Grants Pass; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a sister, Venore Blalock.
