Nellie Emma Williams Martin
Aug. 19, 1920 - June 4, 2002
On Tuesday, June 4, 2002, our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend, Nellie Martin passed from this earthly life to join many family members in heaven.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2002, under the direction of Thomason Funeral Home, Weiser, with a viewing scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, June 6, 2002.
Nellie was born Aug. 19, 1920, in Belle Fouche, S.D., to Fred and Nydia Williams. She lived most of her life in Payette and Weiser, and was a resident of Weiser Care Center for the past seven years.
She is survived by her sisters, Velma Stoermer, Tacoma, Wash., and Lucille Claremont, Dolan Springs, Ariz.; children, Dean (Alice) Davis, Kennewick, Wash., Sherri Kautz, Payette, Ed (Bernice) Davis, Longview, Wash., Jim (Sandy) Davis, Winlock, Wash., Carol (Ken) Brown, Weiser, Leslee (Ron) Neilson, Sonora, Calif., Lisa Weinand, Jerome, Idaho, and Kelli (Kevin) Herbert, Eagle, Idaho; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, James Martin; daughters, Shirley Jones, and Sandra Henderson; son, David Hudson; and grandchildren, Patty Davis and Tracy Foster.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the many loving and caring staff members at Weiser Care Center, who made her final years memorable. In addition, the family expresses a special thank you to Dr. Edward Wheeler for his lifelong care and concern for Nellie and Jim Martin and family. Emiliano Navarrete
Aug. 8, 1925 - Aug. 2, 2002
Emiliano Navarrete, 76, Ontario, passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, in an Ontario hospital. A Vigil with Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Ontario. Liturgy of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Raymond W. Jarboe will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery, Ontario.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Ontario's Lienkaemper Chapel.
Emiliano was born Aug. 8, 1925, to Jose Luis and Maria Navarrete in El Carmen Hidalgo, Mexico. In 1944, when he was just 19, he went to California as a Brasero. There he met and married Rita, May 3, 1948. That same year he started his own small trucking business, hauling produce.
In 1955, he came to Ontario where he rented a three-acre field from Dr. Daniel Scott and worked for Earl Winegar. This was the beginning of his lifetime career in farming which evolved into what is now known as Navarrete Farms. He was also a farm labor contractor for many years. He became very well known in the community for his hard work and dedication. He was a man who was willing to help those in need, and would go out of his way for others. His passion was working on the farm and being with his family. In 1981, he received an award for the top tonnage for beets.
During a relaxing moment you might catch him playing his harmonica. He loved to spend his winters in Mexico with his family. He will be missed by his family and friends, and remembered forever in our hearts.
Emiliano is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rita; their eight children and their spouses, Rosemary N. Steiner and Willy Trujuillio, Fruitland, Jose Luis and Elena Navarrete, Ontario, Lupe and George Rodriguez, Ontario, Susana and Thomas Dunbrasky, Fruitland, Ruben and Rachel Navarrete, Ontario, Ricardo and Rosa Navarrete, Ontario, Hector and Elsa Navarrete, Ontario, Danny and Stephanie Navarrete, Ontario; brothers, Jose, Esteban and Domingo, all of Mexico; sisters, Josefina, Lazara, Isabelle and Guadalupe, all of Mexico; 29 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, Emiliano Navarrete Jr.; mother, Maria B. Navarrete; father, Jose Luis Navarrete; sisters, Fransisca Uribe and Concepcion Trejo; and brother, Anselmo Navarrete.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Andrew Peterson and the staff at Holy Rosary Medical Center for taking care of our father throughout his illness.

Tim M. Keffer Sr., 70, Oscoda, Mich., died Saturday, July 27, 2002, in Lincoln, Mich. Funeral services were held Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at Hillcrest Chapel, Medford, Ore., with David Campbell, officiating.
Tim was born May 7, 1932, in McLean, Texas. He attended Klamath High School and joined the Air Force in 1952, serving until 1956. He was executive director of Koletta Air at Rosenbaum Aviation of Medford until 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Cloey, Oscoda; three sons, Tim Jr., Royal Oak, Mich., Jim, Dungee, Mich., and Todd Hodges, Oscoda; two daughters, Kim Oberhofer, Ypsilanti, Mich., and Judy Willits, Medford; his father, Herman, Klamath Falls; sisters, Lyvana, Portland, and Nina Maestas, Weiser; brothers, Herman, Sacramento, Calif., Vernon, Ontario, Tom, Fruitland, and James, Vacaville, Calif.; and a sister, Ada Keffer, Sedro Wooly, Calif.
EVA L. STRAWN
July 30, 1906 - Feb. 19, 2003
ONTARIO - Eva Lillian Strawn, age 96, Ontario, died Feb. 19, 2003 in an Ontario Care Center in the loving comfort of her children. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, 2003 at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland. Pastor Emeritus Mervyn C. Shay is officiating. Interment will follow at Park View Cemetery. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Fruitland.
Eva was born July 30, 1906 to Edwin B. and Lillian (Shellak) Holt in Hastings, Neb.. They moved from Omaha, Neb. to Payette in 1909. In 1910 they moved to a new house her Dad had built. The roads were terrible and mud everywhere, they moved with teams of horses and wagons through Washoe to the new house. She graduated from Fruitland High School in 1924.
Eva married Clarence R. Strawn on March 8, 1925 in Payette. They bought a farm outside of Fruitland. Together they had three children, one daughter and two sons.
Eva was a member of the Fruitland Methodist Church, Sunnyside Club, Senior Centers in New Plymouth and Payette. She has been a member of the Royal Neighbors of America for 81 years, joining Oct. 26, 1922.
She is survived by one daughter, B. Arlene Eby of Boise; two sons, Richard B. Strawn and his wife, Joann, Fruitland; Gene Strawn and his wife, Donna, Ontario; one sister, Gertrude Clark, Ontario; two brothers, William R. Holt and his wife, Olga , Fruitland; James R. Holt and his wife, Joy of Fruitland, ID; nine grandchildren, Susan Eby, St. Louis, Mo., Rick (Debbie) Strawn, Fruitland, Janet Fritts, Boise, Joyce (Kim) Nichols, Klamath Falls, Ore., Russell Strawn, Fruitland, Debbie (Mike) Blackaby, Ontario, Lynn (Bob) Lockner, Fruitland, Jerry (Colette) Strawn, Bothel, Wash., Jill (Mike) Smith of Battle Ground, Wash.; 11 great grandchildren, Fawn (John) Shipley, Ontario, Tyler (Rachel) Lancaster, Klamath Falls, Ore., Chad Lancaster, Klamath Falls, Ore. , Randy (Bobbie) Mendoza, Ontario, Tami (Brandon) Tarvin, Fruitland, Scott Lockner, Fruitland, Kelsey and Kayla Smith , Battle Ground, Wash., Molly (Rick) Harder, Boise, Lisa (Allie) Forrester, Portland, Ore., Jennifer Blackaby, Boise, ; 13 great great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eva's parents, Edwin and Lillian Holt; her husband, Clarence; two brothers, Don and Ted Holt; two sisters, Jo and Emily Chandler; and one son-in-law,
Richard E. Eby preceded her in death.
We will always remember mother and Grandma Eva for her sparkling blue eyes, showing her love, humor, and wisdom.

Sakae (Saki) Fujinaga
Dec. 22, 1918 - Feb. 19, 2003
Sakae (Saki) Fujinaga, 84, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003 at home. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003 at the Idaho-Oregon Buddhist Temple, Ontario with Reverend Kakuyei Tada, officiating. Services are under the direction of Ontario's Lienkaemper Chapel.
Saki was born on Dec. 22, 1918 in Tacoma, Wash. to Yoshitaro and Suna Fujinaga. After graduating from Auburn High School in 1937 he worked for Weyerhauser in Enumclaw, Wash. until World War II broke out; then he was sent to an internment camp in Tule Lake, Calif. After the war ended he spend a brief period in Chicago, Ill. before arriving in Ontario and working for Jaekle and Rogers, a produce company. He became the foreman for Ontario Produce when it was formed and stayed there for 40 years until his retirement in 1988. He married Akiko Takasugi on Nov. 10, 1951 in Ontario and raised their five children there.
Whether watching or participating, Saki loved sports. He played baseball and basketball in his youth and later enjoyed bowling until he discovered golf. In between golf games he was an avid sports fan for his sons, grandson and granddaughters' athletic endeavors. He also regularly attended and supported the Ontario Tiger Athletic teams.
Saki's wit, charm and incredible sense of humor will be missed by his friends and family. His sense of fair play, high moral character and honesty will forever be remembered and instilled by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife; his children, Glen Fujinaga,Coos Bay, Ore., Jean and husband Kevin Miyasako, Wilder, Idaho, Wayne Fujinaga, Ontario, Susan Fujinaga, Eagle, Idaho and Jon and wife Kristi Fujinaga, Perkasie, Penn.; five grandchildren, Erica, KC and Kyle Miyasako, Allison and Jessica Fujinaga; a sister, Alice Hayakawa, Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Terry and wife Sue Fujinaga, Palo Alto, Calif., Ray and wife Amy Fujinaga, Chicago, Ill.; several nieces and nephews.
His father and mother, brother, Ben Fujinaga and sister Sachi Wada, preceded Saki in death.
