Raul Vela Ramirez Sr.
Oct. 6, 1935 - July 31, 2002
Raul Vela Ramirez Sr. "El Grande," 66, Ontario was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May of 2002; his battle ended Wednesday, July 31, 2002. A Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Weiser. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weiser.
He was born Oct. 6, 1935 in Rivera, Texas to Fransisco and Fransisca Ramirez, where he lived until he was a teenager. He then moved to Weiser. He married Maria Garza of Eagle Pass, Texas, Jan. 26, 1964, in Weiser.
He will best be remembered by his family as a hard working man that would do anything to help out his friends and family. He worked in Granger, Wash. as a foreman in the carpentry business until 1976. He then moved to Weiser where he worked in agriculture, also as a foreman. In his free time he enjoyed playing music and singing with friends and family. He also enjoyed coaching and playing softball, playing bingo, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Maria G. Ramirez; his children Lisa Ann Infante, Raul Vela Ramirez Jr., and Nicanor Garza Ramirez; his grandchildren, Laura Eliza Infante, Thomas Infante, Jose Luis Infante Jr., and Emilio Rene Ramirez; a great-grandchild, Olegario Lorenzo Perez; his mother-in-law, Esther Garza; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fransisco and Fransisca Ramirez; and his brothers, Jose Ramirez, Ignacio Ramirez, Juan Ramirez, and Jesus Ramirez.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel in Ontario.
Alverine D. Fordyce
March 25, 1918 - Oct. 1, 2002
Ontario - Alverine D. Fordyce, 84, Ontario, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Holy Rosary Medical Center. A viewing will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Alden-Waggoner Funeral Chapel, Boise.
She is survived by her husband, John R. Fordyce, Ontario; a daughter and a son, Boise; and a stepson, Williamsville, N.Y.
Esther Wulff
Jan. 5, 1915 - Sept. 30, 2002
Ontario - Esther Wulff, 87, Ontario, passed away Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at a local care center. Memorial graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at Hilltop Memorial Cemetery, Nyssa with the Rev. Mickey Huls officiating. Services under the direction of Nyssa's Lienkaemper Chapel.
Esther was born Jan. 5, 1915, in Tekamah, Neb., the daughter of Andrew and Scena Helms Jenson. She grew up in Tekamah. She married Nels Irvin "Stub" Wulff March 12, 1936, in Fremont, Neb. They resided at Tekamah until 1946, when the family moved to Oregon. In 1947, after living close to Salem for a year, they moved to the Ontario area.
Esther had a gift and love for flowers. She was a floral designer until her retirement. She was a past member of the Beatrice Rebekah Lodge, Emblem Club and Drill Team and enjoyed the sport of bowling with her husband.
Esther is survived by one daughter, Maralee and her husband, John Ward, Nyssa; two grandchildren, Kirby, Nyssa, and Wendy, Portland; two great-grandsons, Stephen and Mickey, Portland; and two sisters, Evelene Wrinkle, Ontario and Violet Wulff Lawson, Blair, Neb.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Irvin; her two brothers; and two sisters.

Harold Robert Ludwig
Feb. 1, 1920 - Feb. 2, 2002
Harold Robert Ludwig, 82, Ontario, passed away Feb. 2, 2002, at his home. Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Ontario Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #1690. Arrangements under the direction of Lienkaemper Chapel.
He was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Indian Valley, Idaho, to Harry and Myrtle Johnson Ludwig. He attended Indian Valley Elementary School and New Plymouth High School, graduating in 1938 from Weiser High School. He worked for a couple of years on his parents' ranch before joining the U.S. Army Signal Corps where he primarily served as a teletype operator. He was discharged in October 1945.
In February 1946, he enrolled at the College of Idaho, Caldwell, where he participated in intramural softball, the college choir, the college pep band for which he played saxophone and the college orchestra in which he was a clarinetist. He earned a bachelor's of arts degree and pursued graduate studies at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Eastern Oregon College of Education in La Grande and the College of Idaho.
In the fall of 1949, he started a 33-year career of teaching business courses at Ontario High School. He taught English at Payette High School the year he opened Ludwig Commercial College in downtown Ontario. He also owned Ontario Monuments as a home business.
He married Betty Jean Tiegs on Nov. 20, 1949, in the Methodist Church at Nampa. They belonged to the Ontario First Methodist Church during the years their four children were growing up. She died May 11, 1985, at Ontario.
Besides playing softball in a local church league and bowling in several area leagues, he was in a regional dance orchestra and sang in the Treasure Valley Chorus directed by Dr. Sam Pobanz.
He held membership in Ontario Chamber of Commerce, Lions Club. Kiwanis Club, Rotary and Senior Citizens. He recently joined the local Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion posts and he continued to participate in the Ontario Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks #1690.
He married Gretchen Ann Ludwig on Oct. 1, 1988, in Bethany Presbyterian Church at Ontario. They celebrated their 13th anniversary last fall.
He is survived by his wife, Gretchen, of Ontario; his son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Alan and Patricia Ludwig of Russian Siberia; a daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Ken Wiley of Nampa; daughters, Karen Ludwig of Vale and Gayle Schoeneman of Ontario; a stepson and his wife, Chris and Kim Rust of Battle Ground, Wash; a stepdaughter and her husband, Elizabeth and Mark Rust-Burnett of Pine Grove, Calif; two brothers, Edward Ludwig of Council, Idaho, and James Ludwig of Elgin, Ore.; a brother-in-law, Don Yoakum of New Meadows, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and step grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Evelyn Anderson and Frances Schoonover of Boise, Helen Ludwig of Council and Lorraine Yoakum of New Meadows.

Dorothy June Linville
Oct. 25, 1922 - Feb. 2, 2002
Dorothy June Linville, 79, Harper, died Feb. 2, 2002, at her home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Vale Lienkaemper Chapel. Burial will follow in Valley View Cemetery, Vale.
Dorothy was born Oct. 25, 1922, at Casper, Wyo., to John and Olga McCleary. At a young age she moved with her family to Albany, Ore., where she was raised and educated. In 1939, she moved with her family to Little Valley.
Sept. 14, 1940, she married Henry A. Linville at Albany. They continued to live in Little Valley. After 48 years of marriage Henry passed away in 1998. She has continued to live on the same place for the past 62 years.
Dorothy enjoyed the farm life, especially feeding cattle and milking cows, putting up hay and taking care of her home and family. She enjoyed all animals, especially her dogs and cats. She was an excellent cook and in her later years she enjoyed fishing.
She is survived by her son, Gail Linville, Lebanon, Ore.; two daughters, Patricia Watson, Cosmopolis, Wash., and Nancy Greenway, Parma; one sister, Ruth Chambers, Albany; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Ted, and a grandson.

Denton L. Tucker
July 13, 1956 - Feb. 4, 2002
Denton L. Tucker, 45, Brogan, Ore., and Ontario, died Feb. 4, 2002, in Ontario. Services for Denny will be held Friday at the Brogan Cemetery at 2 p.m. (MST), under the direction of Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel.
Denny was born July 13, 1956, in Ontario, the third child of Shirleigh and Elizabeth (Jones) Tucker. He was raised on the first ranch below Malheur Reservoir and in Brogan. He attended Brogan Grade School and graduated from Vale High School in 1974.
He married Deborah Kay Hostick Nov. 11, 1976, in Reno, Nev.; and Denny always loved Debi. After his marriage, Denny worked for the Delamar Silver Mine in Jordan Valley, Ore., and then as a millwright for Brown and Root in Bon Weir, Texas, where their first son, Douglas, was born Oct. 6,1977.
Denny, Debi and Doug moved back to Eugene, Ore., in 1979, where Denny also worked as a millwright and received his electrician's license. In 1982, they moved home to Brogan, where Denny and Debi built and established their own heavy equipment repair shop on a hill overlooking Brogan. Denny operated his business until his death. Their second son, Fred was born Dec. 20, 1984, and daughter Hayley was born July 12, 1991.
Everyone in Brogan and surrounding communities knew they could always turn to Denny for help. The three Tucker generations, Shirleigh, Denny and Doug, could usually be found up at the shop. Denny loved his motorcycles and his guns. Most of all, he loved his family.
Denny is survived by his wife, Debi; his sons, Douglas Denton and Frederick Denton; his daughter, Hayley Page; his father, Shirleigh Denton Tucker; sisters, Virginia (Mrs. Terry) Talbert and Elizabeth Tucker, both of Brogan; brother William (and Deneen) of Vale; mother and father-in-law, Jack and June Hostick of Brogan; nieces Kathleen Phillips, Gwendolyn Dentinger, and Caroline Dawley; nephews Jon Dentinger, Jarrod Tucker, and Matt and Ashley Talbert; and many other relatives.
Denny was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Tucker.
