Marvin was born Jan. 15, 1916, in Eustis, Neb., a son of Alvin Beryl and Lillian May Lehmann Easterday. He found farming or following his dad more interesting than school. Marvin and his brother, Ervin, had lots of fun hunting and trying all kinds of wild things. They played hard, but they also learned to work hard. By hand, they picked many bushels of corn, picked potatoes up out of the field and put them in the sacks, and loaded the sacks on the truck. Marvin came west to Idaho in 1938. He called it the land of sweet cherries, and it was his favorite pie. January 28, 1939, Marvin married Vera Madalene Pearson in Twin Falls. They farmed, milked cows by hand, and raised hogs in the Magic Valley until they moved to Parma in the spring of 1941 where this lifestyle continued. In 1943 they moved to Rome where sheep and cattle became his life.
Marvin is survived by three sons, Norman, Keith and Gary, all of Jordan Valley; two daughters, Norene Fretwell, Burns; and Julene Daugherty, Adrian; a sister Ruth Koch, Buhl; three brothers, Lenard Easterday, Buhl, Ray Easterday, Hagerman, and Danny Easterday, Eustis, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
