Francis "Curly" H. Anderson
The memorial service for Francis "Curly" Anderson will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 27 at Ashland First Baptist Church. Pastor Dwayne Robinson will officiate. Private interment will be in Scenic Hills Memorial Park, Ashland.
Mr. Anderson, 89, of Ashland, died Friday, August 22, 2003 at Ashland Community Hospital.
Mr. Anderson was born June 13, 1914 in Clayton, N.M. and came to Oregon in 1927. He graduated from Phoenix High School. On October 25, 1936 at Ashland First Baptist Church he married the former Mary Annabelle Voss, who survives.
Mr. Anderson was the oldest and longest standing member of Ashland First Baptist Church. He was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, gardening and rock hounding. In 1975 he retired from Boise Cascade.
Survivors in addition to his wife Annabelle of Ashland include daughters, Lynnette Anderson of Talent; Nancy Fullington of Portland, Ore.; Jeanne Sorretto of Troutdale, Ore.; son Robert Anderson of Lemon Grove, Calif.; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; he was preceded in death by one son, David Anderson, one granddaughter, Heather Sorretto, three sisters, and three brothers.

Laura J. Ferguson
The memorial service for Laura J. Ferguson will be held at 7 p.m Wednesday, July 2, 2003 at Rivergate Church, 188 Garfield St., Ashland. Rev. Ron Timen will officiate.
Laura J. Ferguson, 45, of Talent, Ore., died Sunday, June 15 at a Medford adult family care home from melanoma cancer.
Mrs. Ferguson was born June 21, 1957 in Myrtle Point to Robert and Karin (Train) Paul. She moved with her family to Klamath Falls in 1969.
In 1975, she graduated from Henley High School in Klamath Falls. For many years after high school she worked at Safeway. Later, she worked at Payless before working for (Harold) Icenhower's Tax & Financial Services in Medford. She was forced to retire because of illness.
She married Hally Ferguson on May 5, 1983 in Virginia City, Nev. She enjoyed her children, participating and photographing many of their activities, especially baseball and golf. Mrs. Ferguson was a competitive swimmer in her younger years and loved walking in later years.
Survivors include her daughter and son, Whitney and Brenton, both of Jacksonville; mother Karin Lanphear, Klamath Falls; father and stepmother, Robert and Jenene Paul, Gold Beach; sister Jodee and Bob Jackson, Henderson, Nev.; sister Susanne and Wally Williams, Clackamas; brother Brian and Jamie Paul, Keno; former husband Hally Ferguson, Jacksonville; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Harry Lanphear, and grandparents Archie and Kathryn Train. and Cecil and Opal Paul.
Memorial contributions may be made to Phoenix-Talent High School Scholarship Fund, Phoenix-Talent District 4, 745 N. Rose Street, Phoenix, Ore. 97535, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Marley Jacob Pratt
Marley Jacob Pratt, 18, of Ashland, died Sunday, June 29, 2003 at his home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller - Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.
Ruth A. Lawrence
Ruth A. Lawrence, 99, of Ashland, died Saturday, June 28, 2003 at Mountain View Retirement Residence.
Mrs. Lawrence was born Sept. 5, 1903, in Oakley, Calif. to B.J. and Ethel Parsons. She lived her early childhood on a horse ranch in eastern Montana with her parents. On Nov. 16, 1941, she married Boyd Lawrence, who survives. They celebrated their sixty-first wedding anniversary in November, 2002.
Mrs. Lawrence worked as a key punch and sorter machines operator on International Business Machines for Southern Pacific Railroad and Greyhound Bus Lines in San Francisco during her early adult life, and at Matson Navigation during W.W.II.
She loved sewing, plants, and gardening.
Survivors include her husband, Boyd Lawrence; two brothers, Kelly Parsons of Ashland, and Jim Parsons of Medford; a sister, Eileen Parsons Wright of Ashland; eight nieces and nephews, 11 great-nieces and nephews, and 9 great-great-nieces and nephews.
A brother and a sister preceded her in death.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Alice Lucille Holliday Schiesel
Alice Lucille Holliday Schiesel, 91, of Ashland, died Thursday, June 26, 2003, at her home.
Family graveside services and interment were held at Eternal Hills Memorial Gardens in Klamath Falls on Saturday, June 28, 2003.
Mrs. Schiesel was born Sept. 19, 1911 in San Diego, Calif., to Charles M. and Marion Mae (Thresher) Holliday. The family moved to Klamath County from Southern California when she was an infant. They were involved in the dairy business for many years. She was raised and educated in Klamath County and she married Leopold "Bud" Schiesel on July 14, 1928 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Klamath Falls.
Mr. Schiesel worked for Weyerhauser Timber Company for almost 20 years. When Weyerhauser went on strike in 1950 the couple moved to Ashland where Mr. Schiesel remained in the lumber business until he retired in 1973. He preceded Mrs. Schiesel in death in 1991 after 64 years of marriage. Mrs. Schiesel remained at the family home until her death.
She loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed being a homemaker and a wife.
Survivors include four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Schiesel was preceded in death by her husband, Leopold "Bud" Schiesel; and two daughters, Lucille Mae Kuhlwein and Barbara Lee Keffer.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ward's Klamath Funeral Home, Klamath Falls.
Joe Arthur Gamble
Joe Arthur Gamble died Thursday, June 5, 2003 in Vancouver, Wash. Burial was held in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland.
Mr. Gamble was born in San Diego, Calif. Aug. 28, 1945. He attended Briscoe, Ashland Jr. and Sr. High Schools. He spent most of his adult life in the Portland and Vancouver area where he was a Computer CAD Designer.
The past few years he lived in Little Rock, Ark., Fort Worth, Texas and Las Vegas, Nev., before returning to the Northwest.
Survivors include a sister Judy Gamble of Las Vegas; his great aunt, Vera Lashua of Ashland; cousins Linda Barnett of Concordia, N.C.; Peter Weber of Dallas, Texas, Jim Wright and Richard Wright of Medford.
Bea Ridgley
Bea Ridgley, 80, a longtime resident of Ashland, died Friday, June 20, 2003 in Portland at St. Vincent's Hospital. The funeral was held June 23, 2003 at Mount Sinai Memorial Park (Hollywood Hills), in Los Angeles, Calif.
She was born June 21, 1922 in Los Angeles. She moved to Ashland in 1973 and residing there until her death on June 20, 2003. She was in Portland visiting her daughter and celebrating her granddaughters' graduation from Portland State University with her family. A local gathering celebrating her life will be held in Medford, at the home of Diane Stewart Aug. 2, 2003 at 11 a.m. Call Ms. Stewart at (541) 773-4266 for directions.
She had an avid interest in dogs and was a long time dog trainer, giving classes at the Ashland YMCA. She marched regularly with her dogs and their owners in her dog class in the traditional 4th of July Parade in Ashland. She worked for many doctors in the Rogue Valley through the years. Most recently she worked at the Ashland YMCA in the preschool as part of the grandparents program. She was a member of Temple Emek Shalom and the Havarah, both in Ashland.
Her interests included volunteering for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, bridge (a member of American Contract Bridge League), and judging dog shows.
Survivors include her son Dr. Neil Schwartz of Chico, Calif.; two daughters, Lezlie Miller of Portland and Andrea Kaiser of Van Nuys, Calif.; and her sister, Lolly Fried of Walnut Creek, Calif.; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
