Jay Gordon Rector, Jr.

Jay Gordon Rector, Jr., 50, of Sweet Home, Oregon died Friday, May 18, 2007.
Jay's parents were from New York and came west before he was born. Jay was born on April 13, 1957 in Torrance, California, the son of Jay Gordon and Doris Irma (Carlson) Rector, Sr. He grew up in California attending school until moving to the Sweet Home area when he was 15. Jay worked for the City of Sweet Home Public Works Deptartment for 27 years. He was Public Employee of the Year two times. Jay really enjoyed his job and the people he worked with.
Jay enjoyed working on his farm equipment and trucks, and taking care of his pets and cows.
He is survived by his mother, Doris Rector, of Sweet Home; best friend, “Romeo,” his dog; and cousins. His father, Jay Gordon Rector, Sr., preceded him in death.
A viewing will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 Tuesday at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
Theresa M. Christley
November 19, 1925 - May 21, 2007
Theresa M. Christley, 81, of Sweet Home passed away Monday, May 21, at Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital. She was born on Nov. 19, 1925 in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania; the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Calao) DeCecio; fifth of their seven children.
She married Bob Christley June 10, 1944, after he returned home from WWII. They settled in Fontana, California where they raised four children; Bobby, Linda, Claire, and Laurie. A devoted Catholic, she believed in the power of prayer and always kept the Lord close to her heart.
She worked for many years at Keizer Steel in Fontana in the clerical field. Upon her retirement in 1983, Bob and Theresa moved to Sweet Home and spent the remainder of their lives together enjoying their family.
Theresa, “Dolly,” was a pillar of strength and support to all she knew. She will always be remembered for the constant love, care, and commitment she showed to her family and all the others she touched. Her love was never-ending and will always be carried on in all of our hearts.
Her legacy will live on within her daughters, Linda and Laurie, and husband, Les; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by son, Bobby; daughter, Claire and husband Bob.
The love of one will live on in the hearts of many forever...
Viewing will be Thursday, May 24, from 4-7 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Graveside service will be Friday at 11 am at Gilliland Cemetery. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel will be handling the arrangements.
Timothy “Tim” Vernon Jackson
May 27, 1951 - May 27, 2007
Timothy “Tim” Vernon Jackson of Brownsville, Oregon died Sunday. He was born to Robert Vernon and Dorothy Mae (Mulkey) Jackson in Los Angeles, California. Through his life Tim resided in Los Angeles, California, Bison, South Dakota, and Portland, Oregon, and since 1982, he lived in Brownsville.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, backpacking, and vegetable gardening.
He is survived by daughter, Amy Jo Daniels of Estacada; father, Robert Vernon Jackson of Apple Valley, CA; granddaughter, Alexis Faye Daniels of Estacada; Sister, Julia Jackson of San Diego, CA; brothers, Michael Jackson of Los Angeles, CA, Randall Jackson of Bishop, CA, and Philip Jackson. Tim was preceded in death by spouse, Nancy Elaine Jackson; brother, Christopher Jackson; mother, Dorothy Mae Jackson, and grandson, Glenn Jackson Daniels.
Viewing will be Saturday, June 2, from 9 am to 12 pm. Services will follow at 2 pm at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel will be handling the arrangements.

Robert G. Shaver, 85, of Sweet Home, died early Tuseday morning at his home. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
Lena Marie Gibbs
July 29, 1978 - June 4, 2007
Lena Marie Gibbs, 28, of Glendale, Arizona died on June 4, 2007. She was born in Lebanon July 29, 1978 to Roger Dale and Tammy Eileen Jobe. She grew up in Portland.
She took care of her grandfather which started a life long interest in nursing and caring for others. Lena worked with hospice and other care agencies. She was a good mom and loving friend. She will be very missed by mother, brother, and children.
She is survived by two sons, Michael and Travis Kennedy; mother, Tammy Wijt; father, Roger Dale Jobe; brother, John Gibbs; nephew, Logan Gibbs; aunt, Orletta Gibbs; uncles, Donny, Greg, Jim Butch, and Dan Gibbs; grandma, Linda Gibbs; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Don Gibbs.

Pearl Alice Hammons
February 9, 1930 - Jun. 13, 2007
Pearl Hammons, 77, of Sweet Home died Wednesday. She was born to Hansel and Edna (VanZandt) Broyhill in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
Pearl volunteered for Sunday School and helped at Bible Camp. She used to do all kinds of things and helped pack food for Gleaners. She loved camping and fishing. Pearl was very dedicated to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by sons, Denver Hammons and Kenneth Hammons; sister, Hattie Benton of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Mike, Andrea, Deanna, Darin, and Darcie; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pearl was preceded in death by husband, Herman Russel “Red” Hammons, three sisters, and one brother.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Sweet Home. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel will be handling the arrangements.

Wayne Gilbert Martinez, 77, of Sweet Home, died on Sunday, June 17, 2007 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 22, 2007 at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel.
Christine Marie Chase
July 19, 1933 - June 19, 2007
Christine Marie Chase, 73, of Sweet Home, died Tuesday. She was born in Miami, Oklahoma to Marvin and Alva (Sapp) Fitch.
Chris had lived in Sweet Home since 1962. She worked at the food cannery. She enjoyed bingo and trips to Spirit Mountain. Chris was well loved by her family.
She is survived by children, Connie, Myrna, Donna, Roberta, Doris, Teresa, Gene, Jerry, Larry, and Eden; four brothers; one sister; and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Chris was preceded in death by her husband and one brother.
No services are planned at this time. Sweet Home Funeral Chapel will be handling her arrangements.
Brian James “BJ” Gilbert

Brian James “BJ” Gilbert, 21, died Monday. He was born in Lebanon.
He lived in Sweet Home and Lebanon all his life until recently moving to Salem. He held various odd jobs and enjoyed fishing, camping, swimming, and horseback riding and helping friends and family.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Delbert and Charlotta Gilbert; mother, Marie A. Harden; sisters, Amy Baldwin of Spencer, Iowa and Lilly Ann Gilbert; fiancée, Sherrie Oliver of Sweet Home; grandparents, Ruth Tate of Lebanon and Dem and Lola Baldwin of Davenport, Iowa; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Melissa Sue Gilbert; grandparents, Eva and Brian James “BJ” Hamilton and Roy W. Tate; and uncle, Ronald E. Gilbert.
A celebration of life is planned for a later date. Donations to help defray funeral costs for Brian and medical bills for Lilly Ann Gilbert can be made to any U.S. Bank.
