Donna Ruth Marshall
The funeral for Donna Ruth Marshall will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Brea, Calif. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park in Brea.
Miss Marshall, 60, of Gold Hill, died Sunday (Dec. 21, 1997) at her home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
She was born Donna Ruth Marshall on July 7, 1937, in Los Angeles, Calif.
Miss Marshall was a chemist for Beckman Industries in Southern California.
She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1995 from Whittier, Calif.
Miss Marshall enjoyed golfing and crafts.
Survivors include eight brothers, Jim Marshall, Central Point, Berney Marshall, White City, Eldon Marshall, Porterville, Calif., Gordon Marshall, California, Ronald Marshall, Whittier, Calif., Gerald Marshall, La Habra, Calif., David Marshall, Blockwell, Okla., and Terry Marshall, Chico, Calif.; and two sisters, Betty Tucker, Diamond Bar, Calif., and Mary Beth Jackson, La Palma, Calif. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Marshall.
Friends may pay their respects from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Mortuary in Brea.

Donald William Powell
The chapel service for Donald William Powell will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Chapel. Ron Laughlin of Bethel Bible Fellowship in Talent will officiate. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Powell, 60, of Talent, died Sunday (Dec. 21, 1997) in Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 30, 1937, in Charleston, W.Va.
Mr. Powell served in the Korean War and was a helicopter pilot in the Vietnam War.
On March 24, 1995, in Medford, he married Lola A. Kenton, who survives.
He was a truck driver and worked in heavy construction.
An avid Bible scholar, Mr. Powell enjoyed woodburning and painting.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include five daughters, Terri Fulton, Ashland, Donna Lembke, North Carolina, Hope Powell, Baytown, Texas, Debie Meyer, Seiad Valley, Calif., and Amie Sanders, Vancouver, Wash.; four sons, Ray Kenton, Phoenix, Ore., Robert Powell, Baltimore, Md., John Powell, Fort Campbell, Ky., and Jeff Kenton, Merced, Calif.; his mother, Maisel Powell, Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Dan, Cary, N.C.; two sisters, Donna Smith, Forest Hill, Md., and Diane Grouse, North Carolina; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 31 years, Catherine, in 1990; a daughter, Terri Powell; and his father, George, in 1997.
Friends may pay their respects from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mary Louise Burchinal
Mary Louise Burchinal, 76, of Jacksonville, died Saturday (Dec. 20, 1997) at her home. Interment was in Eagle Point National Cemetery. The Rev. James Larsen of Rogue Valley Christian Church officiated.
She was born Mary Louise Smith on May 30, 1921, in Shinnston, W.Va.
On May 17, 1944, in Clarksburg, W.Va., she married Charles R. Burchinal, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley four years ago from Niland, Calif.
Mrs. Burchinal was a past member of the Church of the First Born in California.
She enjoyed collecting dolls.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Robert; a daughter, Debra K. Peterson; a sister, Albina Smith; and four grandchildren.

Neil Martin Shaffer
Neil Martin Shaffer, 65, of Medford, died Friday (Dec. 19, 1997) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A memorial service will be held in January.

He was born Feb. 15, 1932, in Preston, Idaho, and moved to the Rogue Valley in 1957 from Preston.
On April 11, 1958, in Medford, he married Sandra Kessler, who survives.
Mr. Shaffer was an electrician. He worked for Shaffer Electric in Klamath Falls from 1959 to 1963, then worked for Central Electric in Central Point from 1964 to 1977. He started Neil Shaffer Electric in Medford in 1981 and worked their until he retired in 1993.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mr. Shaffer enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include four sons, Brian and Terry, both Medford, Clair, Clearfield, Utah, and Craig, Logan, Utah; a daughter, Patricia McDonald, Waldport, Ore.; a brother, Mazel, Salt Lake City, Utah; 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Sherrall.

Charles Phillip McNeff
The memorial service for Charles Phillip McNeff will be Jan. 9 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Interment will be in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific in Honolulu.
Mr. McNeff, 58, of Medford, died Friday (Dec. 19, 1997) at his home.

He was born Dec. 6, 1939, in Indianapolis, Ind.
On May 8, 1962, in Ogden, Iowa, he married Barbara A. Burgess, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley 15 years ago from Honolulu.
Mr. McNeff retired from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of major.
He was a member of the Civil Patrol.
Mr. McNeff enjoyed airplanes and building.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Charyl Joy, Honolulu, and Cynthia McNeff, Portland; his mother, Dortha Haas, Plainsfield, Ind.; and four grandchildren.

Ernest `Polly' Rosborough
Ernest "Polly" Rosborough, 95, of Medford, considered the father of modern flyfishing in the West, died Thursday (Dec. 18, 1997) in Hearthstone. A private service was held in Klamath Falls.
He was born Sept. 13, 1902 in Mammoth Spring, Ark.
He grew up in several states before settling on the family ranch in western Kansas.
Mr. Rosborough lived in Alberta, Canada, and Weed, Calif., before moving to the Klamath Basin, where he lived most of his life.
He moved to Medford a couple of years ago.
He was a gunnery instructor in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Rosborough worked in lumber mills before beginning a fly-tying business.
He was the first flycaster to study the West's insects, tie artificial flies that imitated their underwater life stages and put his observations down on paper.
His first book, called "Tying and Fishing the Fuzzy Nymphs," was published in 1965 and opened the door to conventional nymph fishing, which abounds today. He also wrote "Reminiscences of 50 Years of Flyfishing" and "Martens I Have Known."
He lived and fished most of his life in Chiloquin.
Mr. Rosborough was know among fly-tyers for his unusual way of tying a durable fly -- left-handed using several half-hitches, with no bobbin.
Survivors include a brother, James M., Lake Forest, Calif.; and a sister, Essie McCarty, Placerville, Calif.

Bettie E. Ford
The graveside service for Bettie Elizabeth Ford will be at 2 p.m. today in the Hargadine Cemetery in Ashland.
Mrs. Ford, 74, of White City, died Friday (Dec. 19, 1997) at her home.
She was born on Feb. 17, 1923, in Ashland, the daughter of William T. and Iva Leona Blackwell. She lived in Ashland most of her life, except for a time in Redmond and Columbia, Mo.
She moved to White City three years ago.
Mrs. Ford served in the Women's Army Corps during World War II.
Survivors include two daughters, Michael Lynda Bowers, Kent, Wash., and Vayle Robinson, Columbia; a brother, Ed Blackwell, Medford; and four grandchildren.

Eldred W. Peyton
Eldred W. Peyton, 74, formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Friday (Dec. 19, 1997) at his Tigard home.
The memorial service was held Monday in the S.W. Church of Christ in Tigard. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.

He was born June 11, 1923, in Central Point, the son of Homer Earl and Mildred Grace Peyton. He grew up in Medford, graduating from Medford High School in 1941.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
After the war, he returned to Pacific Power & Light, working for the company for 44 years. He retired in 1985.
Following his retirement, Mr. Peyton was a rose expert for Gardners Choice in Tigard, where he worked for 10 years. He helped to set up the Gold Award Roses, and was a rose judge in both Oregon and Washington. He was past president of the American Rose Society.
He was knighted as a Royal Rosarian in Portland and was a member of the Tigard Toastmasters Club.
An avid jogger, Mr. Peyton had run the Hood to Coast run four times. He enjoyed singing in Barber Shop Quartets, photography and watching women's basketball.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Peyton, Tigard; three daughters, Barbara Langer and Marilyn Gill, both Tigard, and Sharon Brown, Forest Grove; a sister, Eloise Friesen, Medford; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
