John Harrison Eddy
The memorial service for John Harrison Eddy will be held today in the Finley Chapel in Portland. Private inurnment will be in Sunset Hills Memorial Park.
Mr. Eddy, 82, formerly of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 10, 1998) in a Portland care center. His home was in Beaverton.

He was born March 7, 1915, in Missoula, Mont.
In 1946, in Sacramento, Calif., he married Hildagard Alf, who died in 1993. They moved to Medford in the late 1940s.
Mr. Eddy attended the University of Montana.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant in the Philippines.
Mr. Eddy was a human resources manager with Pacific Power & Light for 30 years. In 1962, he moved from Medford to Portland.
Mr. Eddy was an ordained minister with the Church of Faith in Beaverton.
He was active in Boy Scouts in Medford, receiving the Silver Beaver award.
A Mason, he was a master of the Medford lodge, a worthy patron of Reames Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Hillah Shrine in Ashland, Scottish Rite, and the Al Kader Shrine Marching Band.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Filker, Portland; and two grandchildren.

Eloise M. Highley
Friends and relatives of Eloise M. Highley will share their reminiscences of her at a gathering at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Greenbrier Terrace Mobile Home Park recreation hall, Central Point.
Mrs. Highley, 82, of Central Point, died Tuesday (Jan. 13, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

She was born Eloise Long on April 18, 1915, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Raised in Klamath Falls, she graduated from Klamath Falls High School in 1933, one of the first four-year graduates.
In Sacramento, Calif., she was secretary to the assistant administrator/purchasing agent for 15 years at Sutter Hospital. After retiring in 1979 she moved to Central Point.
She was a member of the National Secretaries Association.
An artist, she painted in oil and acrylic.
Survivors include a daughter, Eldred "Micki" Miller, Central Point; a brother, Carl Long, Central Point; three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary; and a great-granddaughter.

Alfred Raymond Walter
Alfred Raymond Walter, 88, of Ashland, died Tuesday (Jan. 13, 1998) in Ashland. No service is planned. Interment will be in Gold Beach.
He was born May 3, 1909, in Roanoke, Va.
In 1972, he married Yukiko Lehida, who died in 1975.
Mr. Walter moved to the Rogue Valley 25 years ago from Palmdale, Calif.
He was a flight line mechanic for Lookheed Aircraft, retiring in 1971.
Mr. Walter enjoyed gold mining, fishing, and music.
Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Kucera, Reno, and Denise Leffert, Apple Valley, Calif.; a sister, Violet Fields, Carson City, Nev.; and a granddaughter.

Phyllis Nipps
The funeral for K. Phyllis Nipps will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Perl in Siskiyou Memorial Park Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Alan Jackson of the Westminster Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Mrs. Nipps, 79, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday (Jan. 14, 1998) at the Highland House Nursing Center.

She was born Katheryn Phyllis Hewitt on Feb. 1, 1918, in Alden, Minn., and moved to Medford in the early 1930s.
On Sept. 3, 1935, in Reno, she married Melvin Nipps. He died in 1987.
The couple owned and operated the Nipps Greenhouse in Medford for more than 30 years.
Mrs. Nipps enjoyed wildlife.
Survivors include a son, James M., Grants Pass; a sister, Beth Barker, Woodburn; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Fran Ilene Boutin
Fran Ilene Boutin, 41, of Medford, died Tuesday (Jan. 13, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private funeral is planned.
She was born Francis Rowton on Feb. 27, 1956, in Yreka, Calif.
On March 10, 1973, in Coos Bay, she married Jerome Boutin, who survives.
They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1990 from Coos Bay.
Mrs. Boutin enjoyed bingo, crocheting, and watching football.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two sons, Jesse Francis and Jason Kristopher, both Medford; a daughter, Adrienne Fay, Medford; her mother, Viola Rowton, Medford; two brothers; four sisters; and a grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father, Homer Wilson Rowton; and a brother, Eddie Rowton.

Roy Vague
The funeral for Elmer Roy Vague will be at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Conger-Morris Chapel, Medford. The Rev. Jim Kennerly of Medford will officiate. Private interment will be in the Antioch Cemetery.
Mr. Vague, 86, of Sams Valley, died Saturday (Jan. 10, 1998) at his home.

He was born May 14, 1911, in Shawnee, N.D.
Mr. Vague moved to Oregon 60 years ago from Washington and came to the Rogue Valley 10 years later.
On June 12, 1940, in Reno, he married Emma Jean "Jeannie" English, who died in 1989.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Vague was a millwright for many years for Medford Corp.'s sawmill. He also was a rancher, raising Tennessee Walker and Arabian horses for show and sale.
He was a longtime member of the Jackson County Horseman's Association.
Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Kemp, Shady Cove, and LaVerne Criscola, Honolulu, Hawaii; three sons, Jim, Seattle, Bill Williams, Buckley, Wash., and John Bell, Nampa, Idaho; two brothers, Gordon, Oak Creek, Wis., and Kenneth, Kirkland, Wash.; three sisters, Ella Strandhop, Portland, Edith Berg, Rockford, Minn., and Bertha Dickey, Walla Walla, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Four siblings preceded him in death.
Friends may pay their respects from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Conger-Morris Medford Chapel.
Florence Hunsaker
Florence Hunsaker, 85, formerly of the Rogue Valley, died Sunday (Jan. 4, 1998) in Klamath Falls, where she was living. The memorial service was held in Klamath Falls with interment in Myrtle Creek.

She was born Florence Hess on July 12, 1912, in Athol, Idaho.
Mrs. Hunsaker graduated from Ashland High School and in 1931 received her teaching certificate from Southern Oregon Normal School.
In 1930, she married Raymond Hunsaker, who preceded her in death.
They both taught in Jacksonville, Medford, Coos Bay and Coquille, and spent summers as park rangers at Crater Lake National Park.
In 1960, the Hunsakers moved to Klamath Falls where she taught in the Klamath Falls city schools from 1966 to 1981.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, PEO Sisterhood, Lake of the Woods Homeowners Association, and an honorary member of Alpha Delta Kappa teaching honorary.
Survivors include four daughters, Alice Smith, Redmond, Nancy Larrabee, Danville, Calif., Diana Bryant, Fort Lewis, Wash., and Helen Ann Meyer, Yakima, Wash.; a brother, Parker Hess, Ashland; a sister, Eleanor Piche, Eugene; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven siblings.

Donald E. Wolff
The funeral for Donald E. Wolff will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Siskiyou Chapel, Medford. Roger Gratsinger of the Eagle Point Community Bible Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Siskiyou Memorial Park.
Mr. Wolff, 73, of Central Point, died Monday (Jan. 12, 1998) at his home.
He was born July 9, 1924, in Central Point, a son of Fredrick and Anna Wolff.
Mr. Wolff attended Willow Springs School and was a 1942 graduate of Gold Hill High School, where he was voted outstanding athlete of his class.
On Sept. 7, 1946, in Medford, he married Millie M. Rosecrans, who survives.
He farmed on the family ranch in Central Point until 1949, when he began working for the California Oregon Power Co., which later became Pacific Power & Light. He was a powerhouse operator at Gold Ray Dam then transferred to the Dixonville substation near Roseburg in 1954 and to Eagle Point in 1965, where he worked at the power plant until retiring in 1983. During the last five years of his employment there he also was substation inspector.
He also participated in the closing down of the Gold Ray plant and for a brief time after retiring was relief operator at the Lost Creek power house.
Mr. Wolff enjoyed studying the Bible.
A member of the Central Point Masonic Lodge, he also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and working in his shop.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Marv, Central Point; two daughters, Donna Arthur, Medford, and Frieda Wagner, Umpqua; two brothers, Robert, Central Point, and Oris, Myrtle Point; a sister, Ann VandeWeghe, Central Point; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred; and a sister, Edna Boardman.
Friends may pay their respects from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Siskiyou Chapel.
