Ora Bernice Alcorn
The funeral for Ora Bernice Alcorn will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Conger-Morris Medford Chapel. The Rev. Anthony Schultz of Grace Lutheran Church, Ashland, will officiate. Interment will be in Siskiyou Memorial Park.
The memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cave Junction.
Mrs. Alcorn, 92, of Cave Junction, died Thursday (Jan. 15, 1998) at Three Rivers Hospital, Washington Campus. in Grants Pass.
She was born Bernice Williamson on Aug. 3, 1905, in Ruthven, Iowa.
On Aug. 18, 1957, in Sidney, Mont., she married James O. Alcorn, who preceded her in death. They moved to the Rogue Valley 32 years ago from Montana.
She taught school until 1966, then returned to college, receiving a degree in education in 1969. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, teaching honorary.
For eight years, Mrs. Alcorn was president of the General Federation of Women's Clubs, and a member of the Southern Oregon Society of Artists and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed painting and traveling.
Survivors include two sons, Wayne Franklin Rusk, Cave Junction, and Lon Rutherford Rusk, Tucson, Ariz.; a step-son, James Lee, Aurora, Colo.; a step-daughter, Jayce Ann Michaels, Billings, Mont.; two sisters, Ovedia Diana Williamson, Los Angeles, and Lyla J. Miller, Oakdale, Calif.; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Arleen Ann Rhea; five brothers, Cyrus N., Arlo C., Ole S., Erling O., and Norval Williamson; and three sisters, Gladys A. Williamson, Belvina W. Bertino, and Elaine F. McFaul, preceded her in death.

Glenn P. Sowell
The memorial service for Glenn Patrick Sowell will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Church of Good Shepherd, Episcopal, Prospect.
Mr. Sowell, 35, of Medford, died Saturday (Jan. 17, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 20, 1962, in Oakland, Calif.
He attended Patrick Elementary in Gold Hill and graduated from Crater High School. Throughout his life he enjoyed drama and performed in musicals and plays. He also appeared on "Starsearch."
For a time he was a theatrical waiter at Bobby McGee's Restaurant in Danville, Calif. As an actor, model, makeup artist and hairdresser, he volunteered teaching students makeup techniques in the San Francisco Bay area and in Medford at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater. As regional makeup artist for Christian Dior, he traveled throughout the United States.
Mr. Sowell also was an aerobic instructor for Richard Simmons, and was in banking.
While in high school he was a volunteer at Providence Medford Medical Center emergency room.
He was a member of the Zion Fellowship in Danville and attended Applegate Christian Fellowship.
Survivors include his parents, James and Eileen Sowell, Medford; and two brothers, James Jr., Prospect, and Timothy Ray, Eagle Point.

Lucille D. Hulburt
The memorial service for Lucille Hulburt will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Medford. The Rev. Joyce DeGraaff will officiate.
Private interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hulburt, 88, of Medford, died Thursday (Jan. 15, 1998) at Hearthstone.

She was born Julia Lucille Dowling on Nov. 3, 1909, in Paris, Ill. The family moved to Albany when she was an infant.
She was a 1928 graduate of Albany High School.
Mrs. Hulburt attended what is now Oregon State University for three years, then a year later attended Albany College, now Lewis and Clark College in Portland, receiving a bachelor of arts degree in secondary education in 1933.
On June 12, 1933, in Stevenson, Wash., she married Kenneth Hulbert, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1936.
In 1942, they moved to Tillamook, then returned to the Rogue Valley in 1947.
Mrs. Hulburt received a bachelor of science degree from what is now Southern Oregon University in 1950.
She taught third grade at Roosevelt School in Medford for 17 years, retiring in 1966.
In 1957, she was among the 15 charter members of the Hetty Green Investment Club, believed to be the first women's stock investment club in the valley. She was an active member for a number of years.
The Hulburts operated a pear orchard on Coal Mine Road until selling it in 1978.
In retirement, they traveled extensively, then bought a winter home in Yuma, Ariz., in 1980. They enjoyed attending Spring Training baseball games and golfing until ill health forced them to sell their Arizona home.
She also enjoyed playing bridge.
Mrs. Hulburt was a member of First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years.
She was a Pink Lady at Rogue Valley Medical Center for 15 years; Oregon president of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Oregon Fire District Directors Association for three years in the 1970s, and a member of the Oregon Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Kenneth II, Portland.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Conger-Morris Medford Chapel.
Lilian O. Kinney
Lilian O. Kinney, 81, formerly of Ashland, died Saturday (Jan. 3, 1998) at her home in Corvallis. No service is planned.
She was born Lilian Gow on Nov. 1, 1916, in Sydney, Australia.
From 1955 to 1975, she lived in Ashland where she was a nurse for Drs. A. Hill, J. Bradshaw, and P. Stonebrook, as well as at Ashland General Hospital. She also worked at the Ashland Daily Tidings.
After moving to Ann Arbor, Mich., in 1975, she managed the Anna Botsford Bach Home and nursed for medical temporary home health agencies. During her retirement she lived abroad and enjoyed international travel.
She was a member and secretary of Trinity Episcopal Church of Ashland, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Ashland, and the Foster Grandparents program and Retired Senior Volunteer Persons (RSVP) in Ann Arbor.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, and studying Spanish.
Survivors include a son, Allan Neil, Portland; two daughters, Evern Sturdevant, Ashland, and Cindia Wells, Corvallis; and four grandchildren.

Andy Anderson
Harlan J. "Andy" Anderson, 82, of Phoenix, died Thursday (Jan. 15, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. No service is planned. Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

He was born April 6, 1915, in Princeton, Ill.
On July 3, 1947, in Inglewood, Calif., he married Falma Hartwick, who died in March 1992. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1963 from California.
For 25 years, he was a letter carrier in California, then from 1965 to 1977 was a custodial maintenance supervisor for the Eagle Point School District.
For a number of years he was involved with the Eagle Point FFA.
He enjoyed woodworking, especially making reproductions of antiques.
Survivors includes a step-daughter, Sally Haw Johnson, Tustin, Calif.; a step-son, Robert Haw, Oceanside, Calif.; eight step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren. Four brothers preceded him in death.

Aaron J. Ayres
The memorial service for Aaron J. Ayres will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Siskiyou Memorial Park Chapel. The Rev. George Nye of Eastwood Baptist Church will officiate.
Private interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mr. Ayres, 80, of Medford, died Thursday (Jan. 15, 1998) at his home.

He was born March 22, 1917, in St. Louis, Mo., and the family moved to the Rogue Valley in the 1920s.
He attended Central Point High School and started working at Medford Lumber Co. in 1936. He retired from the company June 4, 1980.
On May 29, 1943, in Hanford, Calif., he married Violet Austin, who survives.
During World War II he was a B-17 bomber pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps, flying 30 missions over Europe.
He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters. Later he taught cadets in Texas. He left the service as a captain in 1955.
Mr. Ayres was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the 456th Bomb Group Association, and the English Air Force Historical Society.
Active in square dancing, he was a life member of Star Promenaders and Rogue Valley square dance clubs and the Medford Elks Lodge.
He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include twin daughters, Judy Morris, Medford, and Jacque Brown, Eugene; four sisters, Avadna Cook, Medford, Jerry White and Melba McIntyre, both Jacksonville, and Alma Steward, Tacoma, Wash.; and two granddaughters.
A brother, Russell, preceded him in death.

Ina Maxine Miller
Ina Maxine Miller, 82, of Medford, died Tuesday (Jan. 13, 1998) at her home. No service is planned.
She was born Ina Buck on April 11, 1915, in Rifle, Colo.
In 1935, in Colorado, she married Dola Gordon Miller, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Miller moved to the Rogue Valley in 1947 from Colorado.
She was a bookkeeper for three plumbing companies and was a licensed practical nurse for many years.
Mrs. Miller was a Foster Grandparent for many years and enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting.
Survivors include two daughters, Murrayel Darlene Coulton, Jacksonville, and Patricia Ann Love, Talent; two sons, Gordon Dee "Mike" Miller, Seaside, and Murray Buck Miller, Fairview; 16 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Murray Buck; and a sister, Osa Harper.
