Alma L. Springman
The memorial service for Alma Leon Springman will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford. Inurnment will follow.
Mrs. Springman, 90, of Medford, died Tuesday (Jan. 27, 1998) in Medford.
She was born Alma Birdsong on April 7, 1907, in Comanche, Texas.
On Feb. 24, 1936, in Quartzsite, Ariz., she married Louie Franklin Springman, who died in 1979.
Mrs. Springman moved to the Rogue Valley 47 years ago from Coos Bay.
Survivors include a son, Daughtry L. Couch, La Pine; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Iona Vee Couch; three sisters and a brother.

John Philip Petrone
Friends and relatives of John Philip Petrone will share their reminiscences of him and celebrate his life at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Wild River Public House, 533 N.E. F St., Grants Pass, OR 97526.
Mr. Petrone, 43, of Gold Hill, died Sunday (Jan. 25, 1998) at his home.

He was born July 6, 1954, in Vallejo, Calif.
On June 18, 1978, in Richmond, Calif., he married Dot Cobleigh, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley two years ago from Lake Tahoe, Calif.
Mr. Petrone was a student in Rogue Community College's social services program and was serving his practicum at Rogue Recovery in Grants Pass.
He was a Jehovah's Witness.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, John Button, Gold Hill, and Matthew Button, Incline Village, Calif.; a daughter, Jennifer Brown, Elk Grove, Calif.; his father and stepmother, Gerald and Thurad Petrone, Moraga, Calif.; a brother, Gerald, Martinez, Calif.; and four sisters, Susan Petrone, Tahoe Vista, Calif., Renee Haeog and Cathy Kaseman, both Antioch, Calif., and Diane Emmete, Portland. He was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Petrone.

Lois Willis
The graveside service for Lois Willis will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Willis, 84, of Rogue River, died Tuesday (Jan. 27, 1998) at her son's home in Central Point.

She was born Lois Elmira Hulbert on July 5, 1913, in Rainier. The family moved to California when she was a teenager.
On May 4, 1932, in Wilmington, Calif., she married Harry L. Willis, who died May 26, 1990. They moved to Rogue River in 1987 from Long Beach, Calif.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Long Beach and enjoyed collecting turtles, crafts, and pottery.
Survivors include two sons, David L., Central Point, and Gary E., Wofford Heights, Calif.; two sisters, Barbara Norris, Grants Pass, and Joy Robinson, Wickenburg, Ariz.; two brothers, Richard Hulbert, Whittier, Calif., and Robert Hulbert, Los Banos, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Harvey Schwichtenburg
The graveside service for Harvey Schwichtenburg will be at 1 p.m. today in the Eagle Point National Cemetery. David Humphreys, minister of Phoenix Church of Christ, will officiate.
He was born July 18, 1920, in Redfield, S.D.
After serving 17 years in the U.S. Army, Mr. Schwichtenburg was an electronic technician for Boeing Aircraft.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed walking.
Survivors include a son, John, Tacoma, Wash.; a daughter, Nina Neison, Platine, Ill.; two sisters, Elvira Dobratz, Redfield, S.D., and Eva Edblom, Minneapolis.

Gen Wheat
The graveside service for Catharine Genevieve "Gen" Wheat will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Wheat, 86, formerly of Medford and Ashland, died Tuesday (Jan. 27, 1998) at the Mandeley Adult Care Home in Sumner, Wash.

She was born July 14, 1911, in Power Station, Ind., and moved to Ashland in 1925 from Elkhart, Ind.
On July 4, 1933, in Hornbrook, Calif., she married William Fred Wheat, who died in 1986.
Mrs. Wheat worked for the Jackson County Welfare Department for about 20 years prior to retiring.
She joined the Medford Business and Professional Women's Club in 1959, serving as its president in 1967-68, and in 1969 was honored as "Beep," outstanding member of the year.
Survivors include a son, William "Bill" W.; Orting, Wash.; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters.
Friends may pay their respects 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at the Conger-Morris Medford Chapel.
Marie Hubka Kissam
Mass will be celebrated for Marie Hubka Kissam at 8 a.m. today at Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Ashland. The Rev. Anthony Rosevear will officiate.
Mrs. Kissam, 84, of Ashland, died Wednesday (Jan. 28, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

She was born Marie Rees on March 7, 1913, in Chicago.
On June 26, 1937, in Chicago, she married Vernon Edward Hubka, who died Oct. 15, 1958.
On Sept. 30, 1972, in Ashland, she married Robert Kissam, who died Sept. 25, 1992.
Mrs. Kissam worked for the U.S. Air Force Reserve at the Pentagon and completed her career with the federal government at the Government Services Administration in Denver, Colo., in 1973.
She moved to Ashland in 1981.
Mrs. Kissam was a member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church and a volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Meals on Wheels. In Denver, she was a hospital auxiliary gray lady and active in the hospice program.
An artist, she worked in charcoal, oil and watercolors. She also enjoyed playing the organ and had an active interest in politics.
Survivors include a son, Vernon Hubka, Ashland; a daughter Susan Marie Todd, Durham, N.C.; two brothers, Edward Rees, South Bend, Ind., and Paul Rees, Brooksville, Fla.; four sisters, Catherine Streicher, Chicago, Ann Dickinson, Boulder City, Nev., Virginia Burke, San Jose, Calif., and Gertrude Racine, Brooksville, Fla.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Rees.

Charles V. Kyle
The memorial service for Charles V. Kyle will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Christ Episcopal Church in Lake Oswego.
Mr. Kyle, 89, of Medford, died Monday (Jan. 26, 1998) at his home.

He was born May 25, 1908, in Putnam, N.Y. The family moved to Cedarville, Ohio, 10 years later.
He attended Ohio State University and Purdue University.
On Aug. 25, 1934, he married Dorothy A. McCain in Dayton, Ohio, where they lived for 25 years. She died in 1995.
In Dayton, Mr. Kyle operated the Extermital Chemical Co. After moving to Lake Oswego in 1960, he established and operated Rid-O-Pest until retiring in the early 1980s.
In 1995 he moved to Medford to be near his daughter.
Mr. Kyle was a life member of the National Pest Control Association, a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Dayton and Lake Oswego Masonic lodges, and an active volunteer at local hospitals, civic organizations and churches.
He also was an avid sailor and fisherman.
Survivors include a daughter, Ellen Bastian, Medford; two sons, Chip, Barrington, Ill., and Pete, Tegucigalpa, Honduras; a brother, Donald, Cedarville; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Teresa Leigh Long
A celebration of the life of Teresa Leigh Long will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Ashland First United Methodist Church. Friends are encouraged to wear purple and take a candle to be placed in the church.
Mrs. Long, 43, of Ashland, died Tuesday (Jan. 27, 1998) at her home.
She was born Dec. 19, 1954, in Coos Bay.
An artist whose work is in many local, regional and private collections, Mrs. Long studied at Southwestern Oregon Community College and the Instituto Allende in Mexico.
She received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Southern Oregon State College and recently earned teaching credentials in art education from Southern Oregon University.
Survivors include two daughters, Dawn Sky, Ashland, and Eden Shostrom, Kailua, Ohau, Hawaii; her father, Jack W. Long, North Bend; five sisters, Leslie Pinkham, Phoenix, Genie Piddington, Ashland, and Jackie Graham, Annette Onusic and Cynthia Hoover, all North Bend; and two brothers, Nicholas Long, Medford, and Christopher Long, Coos Bay. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gene Campbell Lockman Long.
