Larry Carl Muldner

Larry Carl Muldner, 69, of Medford, died Sunday (Feb. 15, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 12, 1928, in San Francisco.

Mr. Muldner served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

On Dec. 11, 1959, in Carmel, Calif., he married Beverly Bodner, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley eight years ago from Santa Cruz, Calif.

Mr. Muldner was an inventer in the research and development department of U.S. Peat Moss Paper, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Santa Cruz.

Mr. Muldner enjoyed playing golf.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two sons, Scott, Reno, Nev., and Steve, Auburn, Calif.; a daughter, Susan Meyers, Escondido, Calif.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Harry Wageman

Harry Wageman, 90, of Medford, died Saturday (Feb. 14, 1998) at his home. No service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rogue Valley Medical Center Foundation, Hospice, 2825 E. Barnett Road, Medford, OR 97504, or to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97201.

He was born Jan. 16, 1908, in Woodburn.

Mr. Wageman was a chief carpenter's mate in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On Nov. 2, 1946, in Los Angeles, he married Rubye Hedrick, who survives.

Mr. Wageman owned a tire store before retiring.

In Sandpoint, Idaho, he was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Wageman enjoyed woodworking, reading and gardening.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a brother-in-law, Guy B. Hedrick, Medford; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by a son, John McKinney; a brother; and four sisters.

Arrangements: Abbey Funeral, Medford.

Jean L. Gaynor

Jean L. Gaynor, 73, of Medford, died Friday (Feb. 13, 1998) in Medford. A private family service is planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 698, Medford, OR 97501.

She was born Jean L. Matthews on Jan. 7, 1925, in Lewiston, Mont.

On June 17, 1943, in Malden, Wash., she married John Gaynor, who died in 1993. She moved to Medford five months ago from Washington.

Mrs. Gaynor was a real estate agent for Alpine Land Co., and was an insurance agent for Beeso-Guzzie Insurance and Real Estate.

In Washington, she was a member of the Eagles, Moose and Elks lodges.

Mrs. Gaynor enjoyed bowling, traveling and gambling.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Rossi, Jacksonville, and Lynn White, Seattle; a son, Jake, Reno, Nev.; her mother, Helen Matthews, Lewiston, Mont.; a brother, Roy Matthews, Lewiston; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements: Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.

Leonard Earl Elwell

The memorial service for Leonard Earl Elwell will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Central Valley Chapel. Stephen Elwell, a nephew, will officiate.

He was born Sept. 18, 1907, in Haigler, Neb.

On Nov. 27, 1929, in Pasadena, Calif., he married Marie A. Grasenz, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley five years ago from Southern California.

Mr. Elwell was a plumbing contractor. After retiring, he worked for 10 years part time as a handyman in California.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Elwell enjoyed bowling, traveling and helping others.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Betty Cashman, Central Point; four granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, William Roy; and a great-granddaughter.

Arrangements: Central Valley Cremation & Funeral Care, Central Point.

Merle McClintock

Merle McClintock, 78, of Medford, died Saturday (Feb. 14, 1998) at Three Fountains Nursing Center. A private family service is planned.

She was born Merle Robinson on April 26, 1919, in Pilchuck, Wash.

Mrs. McClintock lived in Eugene from 1943 to 1958, then in Lewiston and the Toppenish/Yakima area of Washington before moving to Medford in 1974.

She was a maid for several Rogue Valley properties.

An avid motorcycle rider, Mrs. McClintock also enjoyed playing the steel guitar with her family and singing.

Survivors include a daughter, Deloris Nelson, Medford; two sons, Vernon Sansom, Springfield, and Michael McClintock, Yakima, Wash.; a brother, Glen Robinson, Centralia, Wash.; two sisters, Marge Ames and Deloris Palmer, both Centralia; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements: Simonsen Funeral Home, Ashland.

Nick A. Haller

The funeral liturgy for Nicholas "Nick" A. Haller will be at noon Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Mark Cach will officiate. Interment will be in Eagle Point National Cemetery.

Mr. Haller, 82, of Phoenix, died Saturday (Feb. 14, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1833, 42 N. Front St., Medford, OR 97501.

He was born April 29, 1915, in Beardsley, Kan., where he grew up on a farm homesteaded by his grandfather.

Mr. Haller was in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the 1930s.

On Oct. 6, 1940, in Scottsbluff, Neb., he married Cecilia M. Ulmer, who survives.

During World War II, Mr. Haller served in the U.S. Navy on board the aircraft carrier USS Makin Island in the Pacific. He later served in the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Later he was an airport aircraft mechanic, then attended diesel mechanic school in Denver, Colo., and was a diesel mechanic for Diamond T Trucking in Scottsbluff for nine years.

Mr. Haller moved to Anaheim, Calif., in 1952, where he worked for Merrifield Trucking and to the Rogue Valley in 1964, where he worked for Oregon Cummins Diesel until retiring in 1981.

He then was an official for the International Association of Machinists Union.

Mr. Haller was a member of the Star Promenaders Square Dance Club of Medford since 1964 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars since 1945. He also was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening and woodworking.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Ramona McGinty and Rita Weisshaar, both Reno, Nev.; seven brothers, Andy and Charlie, both Ft. Lupton, Colo., Hubert and Joe, both Cedar City, Utah, John, Alliance, Neb., Patrick, Hemingford, Neb., and Jacob, Richland, Mo.; three sisters, Ann Martin, Herndon, Kan., Monica Adams, Landers, Calif., and Theresa Abel, Englewood, Colo.; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Louis; two sisters, Marie Eby and Ruth Floyd; and one grandchild.

Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Perl Funeral Services, Siskiyou Chapel, Medford. Prayer vigil will follow.

Merle Simmonds

The funeral for Merle Walter Simmonds will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Chapel. The Rev. John Braund will officiate. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.

Mr. Simmonds, 83, of Phoenix, died Saturday (Feb. 14, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Phoenix-Talent Athletic Program, Boys and Girls, Pat Halpin, athletic director, P.O. Box 697, Phoenix, OR 97535, or to Southern Oregon University, RVTC Sports Announcing Department, 1250 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland, OR 97520.

He was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Kingman County, Kan.

Mr. Simmonds moved to the Rogue Valley in 1937.

On Oct. 30, 1938, in Medford, he married Addie Bolz, who survives. They moved to Phoenix 57 years ago.

Mr. Simmonds worked for Medford Ice and Storage for 35 years.

He served on the Phoenix-Talent School Board and was a member of the Phoenix Grange.

Mr. Simmonds enjoyed sports, dancing and gardening.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Penny Heacock and Bonnie Martin, both Eugene; and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Merlana; four sisters; and three brothers.

Friends may pay their respects from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Memory Gardens Mortuary, Medford.
