Frances Caroline Miller
The service for Frances Caroline Miller will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Crystal Cathedral in Anaheim, Calif. Interment will be in Inglewood, Calif., Cemetery.
Mrs. Miller, 89, of Ashland, died Friday (March 6, 1998) at the home of a son in Ashland.
She was born Fannie Taylor on Dec. 13, 1908, in Winona, Wash. The family moved to Los Angeles in 1921.
On Sept. 15, 1929, in Los Angeles, she married Lemuel E. Miller. They divorced in 1943.
In Los Angeles, Mrs. Miller was a bookkeeper.
She moved to Newport Beach in 1952, where she was an inventory control manager for the Browning-Silaflex Company, retiring in 1973. She volunteered for many years at the Corona del Mar Oasis Senior Center in Southern California.
After retiring, Mrs. Miller traveled extensively. She moved to Ashland last year.
Survivors include two sons, Robert M., Ashland, and Richard E.; two brothers, Mitchell E. Taylor and Steven Taylor; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Edna A. Kumas
The funeral for Edna A. Kumas will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Chapel, Medford. Members of Mazama Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Shady Cove, will officiate. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Kumas, 78, of Medford, died Friday (March 6, 1998).

She was born Edna A. Hochmann on Feb. 26, 1920, in Detroit.
On Sept. 8, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., she married Andrew Kumas, who survives. They moved to San Francisco in 1944 and to the Rogue Valley in 1963.
Mrs. Kumas enjoyed writing letters and cards, camping, hiking, and embroidery.
Earlier she was active in Parent Teacher Association and Cub Scouts. She was a member of Mazama Chapter, OES, Shady Cove.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a daughter, Janet Walter, Eagle Point; two sons, Alan, Medford, and Stan, Novato, Calif.; a sister, Ruth Fradkin, Tel Aviv, Israel; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A brother, John Hochmann, preceded her in death.

Sue Parent
The memorial service for Marian "Sue" V. Parent will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens Chapel, Medford. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Parent, 91, of Central Point, died Saturday (March 7, 1998) in Central Point.

She was born Marian Versella Kuhn on June 13, 1906, in Lostine and grew up on the family's homestead in Wallowa County.
On June 12, 1927, in Enterprise, she married Irvin E. Parent, who died Sept. 29, 1974. They moved to Central Point in 1947.
She enjoyed flower gardening and crocheting.
Survivors include a son, Vern, Central Point; a daughter, Maiva Knotts, Central Point; a sister, Versell Boswell, McMinnville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Lavonne, died in 1936; a sister, Valska Kuhn, in 1982; and two great-grandsons.

Tyler Quackenbush
The funeral for Tyler H. Quackenbush will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Mark Cach will officiate. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Memorial Park, Medford.
Mr. Quckenbush, 94, of Medford, died Saturday (March 7, 1998) in Medford.

He was born Oct. 2, 1913, in Fort Morgan, Colo.
On July 19, 1936, he married Alice Abbott, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1973 from New Delhi, India.
Mr. Quackenbush, a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army during World War II, later was a civil engineer for the U.S. Government, then was with the Ford Foundation in New Delhi.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Rogue Valley Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, all kinds of sports, and gardening.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Chuck Williams, Medford; a daughter, Diane Williams, Medford; a sister, Jean Mantey, Fort Morgan, Colo.; three grandhildren; and one great-grandchild. A sister, Beth Carlson, preceded him in death.

Walter L. Chapman
The funeral for Walter Lee Chapman will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Medford Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1900 Greenwood St., Medford. Pastor Henry Zollbrect will officiate. Private interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Mr. Chapman, 92, of Medford, died Saturday (March 7, 1998) in Medford.

He was born March 27, 1905, in Chico, Calif.
On July 17, 1936, in Independence, Mo., he married Marjorie Shriver, who preceded him in death. They lived more than 50 years in the Rogue Valley, moving from Los Angeles.
He worked in the lumber industry, retiring in 1972 from Burrill Lumber Company.
He was a member of the Valley View Seventh-day Adventist Church and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include two sons, Steve and Lance, both Medford; a daughter, LeAnn Chapman, Medford; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A sister, Myrtle Bill, preceded him in death.

Oleta V. Justice
The memorial service for Oleta Virginia Justice will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Eagle Point National Cemetery. James R. Larsen, minister of Rogue Valley Christian Church, will officiate.
Mrs. Justice, 79, formerly of Medford, died Friday (March 6, 1998) at the home of a daughter in Myrtle Creek.

She was born March 18, 1918, in Decatur, Ill.
On Feb. 8, 1936, in Decatur, she married William Harold Justice, who died in 1984. They moved to the Rogue Valley 21 years ago.
She enjoyed playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles, and making crafts.
Survivors include two daughters, Carol Ray, Myrtle Creek, and Peggy Gibbons, Eugene; two sons, Larry, Lompoc, Calif., and Charles, Las Vegas; 20 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A daughter, Rosalie Munson, died in 1997.

Eileen M. Chambers
The funeral for Eileen Mary Chambers will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Conger-Morris Medford Chapel. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Mrs. Chambers, 70, of Talent, died Wednesday (March 4, 1998) at Jackson House in Talent.
She was born Eileen Mary Casey on May 1, 1926, in North Dakota.
On Sept. 24, 1946, in Alturas, Calif., she married Donald K. Chambers, who died in 1992. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1956.
Mrs. Chambers was a clerk at pharmacies in Medford and Phoenix for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son, Kevin, Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Karen Chambers, Mendocino, Calif.; and two grandchildren. A sister, Evelyn Capik, preceded her in death.

Mary A. Tungate
Mary A. Tungate, 81, formerly of Medford, died Monday (March 2, 1998) of a heart attack at Warrack Hospital in Santa Rosa, Calif. Her home was in Santa Rosa.
No service is planned.

She was born Mary Morlian on Aug. 17, 1916, in Istanbul, Turkey. An Armenian, she and her mother immigrated to the United States in 1920, passing through Ellis Island. Her father had arrived in Boston earlier, fleeing what has been called "the first genocide of modern times."
In the early 1930s, when Hitler told his followers he planned to exterminate the Jews and was told it would be impossible, he is reported to have responded, "Who, after all, remembers the Armenians."
Mrs. Tungate, a registered nurse, graduated from Somerville Hospital Nursing School near Boston, in 1936.
In 1942, in New York City, she married James "Jim" R. Tungate, who was born and grew up in Butte Falls. Mr. Tungate died in 1987.
They moved to Medford in 1950. She was a nurse at Rogue Valley Medical Center and later at Hearthstone in Medford.
Mrs. Tungate retired in the early 1970s and the couple enjoyed traveling together.
For the past year, Mrs. Tungate lived in Santa Rosa with her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Dan Voorhies.
She was an avid card player and was a life master in bridge.
Survivors, in addition to her daughter, include two sons, James Edward, Kodiak, Alaska, and David Lloyd, Falmouth, Maine; and two granddaughters.
