Hope Mary Gregory
The funeral for Hope Mary Gregory will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church. The Rev. Jim Clifford will officiate. Interment will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Klamath Falls.
Mrs. Gregory, 74, formerly of Medford, died Thursday (March 12, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Her home was in Klamath Falls.
She was born Hope Mary Lopez on May 5, 1923, in Pueblo, Colo.
On Oct. 9, 1965, in Carson City, Nev., she married Elmer C. Gregory, who survives. They lived in Medford from 1984 to 1987.
Mrs. Gregory enjoyed camping, barbecues and traveling.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include four daughters, Olga Marlow and Francis Hoffman, both Medford, Shirley Hoffman, Klamath Falls, and Carol Gregory, Longview, Wash.; four sons, Raymond Myrick and Billy Gregory, both Klamath Falls, Clint Gregory, Kelso, Wash., and Rickey Gregory, Milwaukie; two sisters, Isabelle Myrick, Medford, and Patricia Gutierrez, Greely, Colo.; four brothers, Alex Lopez, Medford, Bobby Lopez, Ft. Collins, Colo., Pete Lopez, Compton, Calif., and Johnny Lopez, Eaton, Colo.; 25 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Eunice Egger; two sisters, Mary Espinosa and Rachel Chevas; and two brothers, Frank and Junior Lopez.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today at Central Valley Chapel.

Merit E. Simmons
The funeral Mass for Merit E. Simmons will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Prineville. The Rev. Robert Simard will officiate. The graveside service will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Jacksonville Cemetery.
Mr. Simmons, 87, formerly of Medford, died Sunday (March 15, 1998) at his home in Prineville.

He was born March 5, 1911, in Roosevelt, Minn., and grew up in Park River, N.D.
On Sept. 18, 1937, in Park River, he married Mary Kadlovec, who survives. They moved to Medford in the 1940s, where he was a log scaler at Gulf Red Cedar Mill for many years, retiring in 1968. They moved to Hillsboro in 1988 and to Prineville in 1996.
Mr. Simmons was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Prineville.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Vikki Peterson, Prineville; and a brother, Alton Simmons, Gladstone.

Betty Hooper Wargo
Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Hooper Wargo, 84, formerly of Medford, died Wednesday (March 4, 1998) in San Mateo, Calif. Her home was in San Mateo.
A private service was held. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, Calif.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
She was born Feb. 24, 1914, in Docoto, Calif., a daughter of Jim and Jettee Purcell. The family moved to Medford in 1920, where he was a steamfitter for Owen-Oregon Mill, later Medford Corp.
Mrs. Wargo was a 1932 graduate of Medford High School. While in school she was a usherette at the Holly Theater.
She worked for Dorothy's Cafe at Main and Front streets, was in charge of the candy department when Woolworth's was on Main Street, and later for Model Bakery on Grape Street.
On Aug. 7, 1937, in Medford, she married Eugene Hooper, who died Feb. 7, 1958. They moved to Grants Pass, where they owned Hooper Radiator Shop.
During World War II they moved to California, where he worked in the shipyards. She was an accountant for Steiner's Jewelry in San Mateo prior to retiring.
In August 1992, in Reno, Nev., she married Joe Wargo, who survives.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include two stepsons, Joe Jr., San Mateo, and Peter, in Hawaii; and a sister, Margaret Conger, Central Point.

Donald L. Herbert
The graveside service for Donald L. Herbert will be at 10 a.m. today in Eagle Point National Cemetery. Pastor Jack Bacon will officiate.
Mr. Herbert, 76, of Talent, died Sunday (March 15, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

He was born May 22, 1921, in Farmington, Ill. In his youth, he was a Golden Gloves boxer, in the featherweight division.
On June 20, 1943, in Kahoka, Mo., he married Carmella Senatra, who survives. They moved to Oregon in the early 1980s from California.
Mr. Herbert served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he was a welder.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Herbert enjoyed fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Jan Sell, Sams Valley, and Dawn Cervantez, San Dimas, Calif.; two brothers, George, Moline, Ill., and Harold, Milan, Ill.; and six grandchildren.

Ruth Reimer Smith
Ruth Reimer Smith, 72, formerly of Medford, died Sunday (March 15, 1998) at her home in Hattiesburg, Miss. A private graveside service is planned.
She and her husband, owned the Gaulden L. Smith Agency until retiring in 1986. Gaulden Smith died March 4, 1998, after 46 years of marriage.
Mrs. Smith was a private sector participant in the Marshall Plan in Rome, Italy, for several years.
They lived in Medford from 1986 to 1993.
Survivors include two sons, Gaulden Paul, Arlington, Va., and Gerritt R., Pensacola, Fla.

Larry Robert Fraumeni
The memorial funeral Mass for Lawrence "Larry" Robert Fraumeni will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Kelly Vandehey will officiate.
Mr. Fraumeni, 31, of Medford, died Saturday (March 14, 1998) at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
He was born May 6, 1966, in San Francisco, and the family moved to the Rogue Valley in 1967.
Mr. Fraumeni was a 1984 graduate of Medford Senior High School.
He enjoyed painting, sculpting, and botany, especially orchids.
Survivors include his parents, Cynthia Sugiura, Medford, and William Fraumeni, Stockton, Calif.; a brother, Drew Sugiura, Medford; two sisters, Colleen Tucker, Grants Pass, and Alishia Fraumeni, Sunnyvale, Calif.; and grandparents, Raymond and Ramona Rosales, Medford.

Hettie Ann Hansen
Hettie Ann Hansen, 90, of Medford, died Saturday (March 14, 1998) at a friend's home. Private interment will be Wednesday in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Corning, Calif.

She was born Hettie Ann Garrison on Sept. 18, 1907, in Mt. Victory, Ky.
Mrs. Hansen and her husband owned and operated Hansen's Water Pump and Installation in Corning, Calif., from 1960 to 1968. He preceded her in death.
She graduated from Chico State University, where she was the oldest student at that time.
Mrs. Hansen moved to Ashland in 1979 and later to Medford. She attended what is now Southern Oregon University.
She was an active member of the West Main Church of Christ.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Henderson, Redding, Calif., and Suzy Reed, Sanborton, N.H.; a brother, Walter Garrison, Chowchilla, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Lester S. Libbey
Lester S. Libbey, 79, of Medford, died Sunday (March 15, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center. A private service is planned.
He was born Dec. 9, 1918, in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Mr. Libbey was the pastor of First Baptist Church of Ashland from 1955 to 1959. He returned to area in 1990 from Seattle.
On Sept. 11, 1992, in Medford, he married Dona J. Cameron, who survives.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include two daughters, Judy Fenton, Everett, Wash., and Joan Chisamore, Plano, Texas; a stepson, Don Cameron, Vancouver, Wash.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
