Joanne L. Russo
The memorial service for Joanne Leona Russo, formerly of Jacksonville, was held Sunday at the home of Wesley and Sandra Wright in Yreka, Calif.
Mrs. Russo, 63, of Yreka, died Friday (March 27, 1998) after a long illness.

She was born Nov. 17, 1934, in Pierce County, Wis., a daughter of David and Ruth O'Conner. She started school in Maiden Rock, Wis., then moved to Jacksonville, where she completed grade school and graduated from high school.
On May 24, 1980, in Tonopah, Nev., she married Anthony "Tony" Russo who survives.
They moved to Yreka eight years ago. She was a cook for Nature's Kitchen and planned to work for the nearly completed Purple Plum in Yreka.
She was a member of Assembly of God in Jacksonville. She enjoyed cooking and tending plants.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include a son, Steven Misener, Yreka; three daughters, Sandra Wright, Yreka, and Yvonne Berg and Janet Beard, both Tonopah; her mother, Ruth O'Conner, Yreka; a sister, Jeanne Brinkman, Yreka; a brother, Jerry O'Conner,
Fallon, Nev.; and 13 grandchildren.

Margaret E. Jones
Margaret E. Jones, 52, formerly of Medford, died Monday (March 30, 1998) at her home in Newberg. She was diagnosed with cancer in 1991.
The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Newberg Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Ed Nichols will officiate.

She was born Margaret Emery on June 3, 1945, in Doylestown, Pa.
She was a 1963 graduate of South High School in Torrance, Calif. She moved to Boise, Idaho, in 1971, and was a bookkeeper.
On Dec. 18, 1976, in Las Vegas, Nev., she married Ron Jones, who survives. In 1987, they moved to Medford, where she was a tax consultant.
In 1996 they moved to Newberg, where she started a business buying and selling antiques.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include her stepfather, Bob Spangler, Torrance, Calif.; a brother, Allen Emery, Caldwell, Idaho; and a sister, Reba Wek, Acton, Calif.

Mary J. Reader
The memorial service for Mary Jeanette Reader will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Chapel. Pastor Carlos Pena of Table Rock Church of Christ will officiate. Private interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford.
Mrs. Reader, 91, of White City, died Friday (March 27, 1998) at Three Fountains Nursing Center.
She was born Mary Jeanette Fleenor on Jan. 6, 1907, in Anderson County, Texas.
On June 26, 1925, in Midland, Texas, she married Zack Reader, who died in 1994. They moved to the Rogue Valley in 1962 from San Angelo, Texas.
A licensed practical nurse, she worked at both what are now Providence Medford Medical Center and Rogue Valley Medical Center before retiring in 1969.
She was a member of First Christian Church in White City.
Survivors include three sons, James Leroy and David H., both White City, and Charles W., Mount Dora, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. A daughter and five brothers preceded her in death.
Friends may pay their respects from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today at Hillcrest Chapel.

Perry E. Formolo
The funeral Mass for Perry E. Formolo, 80, of Medford, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church, Ashland. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Ashland.
Rosary will be read at 7 p.m. today in Our Lady of the Mountain.

John P. Hagemann
The memorial service for John Paul Hagemann will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Calvary Lutheran Church, Grants Pass.
Mr. Hagemann, 83, of Rogue River, died Sunday (March 29, 1998) at the home of a son.
He was born Dec. 5, 1914, in Denver, Iowa.
On May 11, 1940, in Las Vegas, he married Virginia Mae Lawrence, who died in November 1993. They moved to Rogue River from Los Angeles in 1972.
From 1939 until retiring in 1972, he was a supervisor for McDonnell Douglas Corp. in Santa Monica, Calif.
He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. He also enjoyed playing bridge, vegetable gardening, and fishing.
Survivors include two sons, Jim, Central Point, and Dick, Agoura, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Arrangements: Southern Oregon Cremation Society, Grants Pass.
George Hill
The funeral for George Hill will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Applegate Community Church. Private interment will be in Missouri Flat Cemetery.
Mr. Hill, 85, of Grants Pass, died Monday (March 30, 1998) at his home.

Mr. Hill was born Dec. 1, 1912, in Ada, Okla.
For 25 years he was a machinist for Loud's Machine Shop in Pomona, Calif., retiring in 1974.
In 1975, he moved to the Applegate, then to Grants Pass, four years ago.
On Dec. 20, 1997, in Applegate, he married Verla Hoyle, who survives.
During World War II he served in the U.S. Army as a private first class in France and Germany.
He was a member of the Boatnik board and attended the Applegate Community Church. Mr. Hill also enjoyed marksmanship, fishing, and golfing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Leslie, Applegate; two stepsons, Larry Hoyle, in Kentucky, and David Hoyle, Denver; a stepdaughter, Barbara Bement, Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Opal Pecor, North Bend, Wash.; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and 24 step-great-grandchildren.

Hal Johnston
The funeral for Harold "Hal" F. Johnston will be at noon Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 110 Linn Road, Eagle Point. Elder Carl Seyboldt will officiate.
Mr. Johnston, 53, of Trail, died Sunday (March 29, 1998) at Providence Medford Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 30, 1944, in Akron, Ohio.
On June 28, 1986, in Los Angeles, she married Ellie Johnson, who survives. They moved to the Rogue Valley two years ago from Las Vegas. Previously he lived in Simi Valley, Calif., for 21 years.
He was a project manager for Public Storage prior to retiring in 1995.
In Simi Valley he was a member of the Sami Valley Planning Commission.
Mr. Johnston was master of ceremonies for horse shows throughout Simi Valley. He was a member of the Simi Valley Equestrian Association and Academy of Country Music.
An elder in the LDS church, he was a teacher in the High Priests Quorum and Stake Missionary in Littleton, Colo.
Mr. Johnston was a rock collector, particularly geodes. He also enjoyed woodcraft.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Harold F. III, Florence, Calif.; three stepsons, Michael Moore, Littleton, Colo., Scott P. Moore, San Diego, and Daven L. Moore, Las Vegas; five stepdaughters, Karel Webb, Columbia Falls, Mont., Addie Beseris, Idaho Falls, Idaho, Kirsten Kraft, Palmdale, Calif., Patty Begay, Snowflake, Ariz.; and Pam Delaney, Canyon Country, Calif.; four brothers, David L., Butte Falls, Craig, Palmdale, Tim, Denver, and Paul, El Paso, Texas; a sister, Darlene Johnston, Las Vegas; 38 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. A brother, Thomas, died in 1947.
Friends may pay their respects one hour before the service in Eagle Point.

Walter A. Nelson
The memorial service for Walter Andrew Nelson will be at 2 p.m. today in Rogue Valley Christian Church, Medford. David Humphreys, minister of Phoenix Church of Christ, will officiate.
Mr. Nelson, 67, of White City, died Sunday (March 29, 1998) at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Roseburg.

He was born Dec. 12, 1930, in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Mr. Nelson moved to the Rogue Valley two years ago from Waterloo, Iowa.
A welder, he worked at the Bremerton, Wash., Shipyards. For a short period, he worked for IPB Co. in Iowa as a shop foreman.
He was a master sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Nelson was an outdoorsman.
Survivors include two sons, Richard, White City, and Eric, Olympia, Wash.; a daughter, Marcie Logan, Seattle; two brothers, Jim Nelson, Lakewood, Calif., and Tommy Dettman, Conway, Ark.; four sisters, Virginia Vichter, Jane Joslin, and Christina Durham, all Council Bluff, and Joyce Swanson, Omaha, Neb.; one grandchild, and his former wife, Pat Nelson, Bremerton. A brother, Bill, and a sister, Fayne Lowry, preceded him in death.
