Edythe Mae Eaton, 79, of Medford, died Saturday, April 26, 2003 at the Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford. Arrangements are in the care of Litillwer-Simonsen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Ashland.
Donna Irene "Stauffer" De Rose
Donna Irene "Stauffer" De Rose, 72, of Yreka, Calif., died Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at Providence Medford Medical Center. A committal service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2003, at the Eagle Point National Cemetery. Rev. Alan Jackson of Westminster Presbyterian Church will officiate.
She was born to Emil and Eva (Culmer) Stauffer on July 13, 1930 in Ashland. On April 7, 1956 in Fallon, Nev., she married Gerald De Rose, who survives. They moved to Yreka in 1956.
Mrs. De Rose was a housewife during her life. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1948. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and camping.
Survivors include, her spouse; three sons, Charles Richard De Rose, of San Jose, Calif., Ronald Wray De Rose of Bend, Ore. and Kevin Louis De Rose of Susanville, Calif.; one brother, Weldon M. Stauffer of Medford; one sister, Rosalie L. LaFleur of Medford; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Earl De Rose in 2000.
Funeral arrangements are held by Rogue Valley Funeral Alternatives and Crematory.
Ruth L. Prince
Ruth L. Prince, 87, of Medford, died Friday, April 18, 2003. A private memorial service will be held. Memorial contributions can be made to Jackson County Library.
Ruth Lucie Prince was born May 12, 1915 in Los Angeles, Calif., daughter of Richard and Lucie Buchanan. She lived in the Rogue Valley since 1948.
On Aug. 19, 1938, Ruth married Walter H. Prince, he passed away in 1978. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and taking walks.
Survivors include daughters, Carol Murphy of Creswell, Ore. and Linda Humpage of Portland, Ore.; son, Walter (Bud) Prince of Medford; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Arrangements are under the direction of Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.
Marion B. Gowan
Marion B. Gowan, 88, of Medford, died Friday, April 18, 2003 at her residence. Arrangements are under direction of Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.
Richard Carl Tussing
Richard Carl Tussing, 68, of Ashland, died Saturday, April 19, 2003 at Rogue Valley Medical Center. Arrangements are under direction of Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.
Helen E. Grilley
Helen Elaine Grilley, 93, of Medford, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Farmington Square in Medford. A memorial service will be held in Montana at a later date.
She was born July 25, 1909, in Antelope, Mont., to Nellie and William Crohn. She attended rural grade school and graduated from Plentywood High School in 1927.
Mrs. Grilley taught in rural schools for five years before attending Teacher's College in Billings, Mont., where she received a two-year degree.
She continued teaching for 15 years and earned a bachelor's degree from Eastern Montana University in Billings. In 1949, she earned a master's degree in education from Eastern Montana University, and for the next 14 years was a teaching supervisor in Oregon, Montana and California.
She earned her doctorate in 1966 and taught at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond. She was also a professor at Eastern Montana University in Billings for eight years.
During the summer, she managed Echo Lake Cabins in Montana.
Mrs. Grilley traveled extensively and visited six continents.
Survivors include two daughters, Idamarie Barnes, Medford, and Pat Dake, Big Fork, Mont.; a brother, Louis Crohn, Big Fork, Mont.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.

Gilbert Allan Miller
Gilbert Allan Miller, 70, of Ashland, died Thursday, April 17, 2003 at the Rogue Valley Medical Center, Medford. Arrangements are under the direction of the Litwiller-Simonsen Funeral Home and Crematory, Ashland.
Jane Valliant Holmes
Jane Valliant Holmes, 76, of Talent, died Friday, April 11, 2003 at her home in Talent. A private service will be held. Inurnment was held in Phoenix Cemetery. She was born Dec. 1, 1926 in Palo Alto, Calif., the daughter of Stanley and Louise (Clements) Garrett. On July 29, 1983 in Roseville, Calif., she married Peter Ralston Holmes. She moved to Talent from San Jose in April of 2000.
Mrs. Holmes owned and operated a small grocery store and deli in California. She was a member of the P and L Seminar and enjoyed nature, travel, reading, playing cards, people and laughter.
Survivors include her children, Randy Valliant Jones and Linda Louise Jones of Medford, Robert Hamilton Jones and Dana Laree Longwill-Millican of LaHonda, Calif.; brother, William Stanley Garrett; sister Louise Evelyn Garrett-Gautier; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter.

Ralph W. Sikes
Ralph W. Sikes, 90, of Elmira, Ore., died March 16, 2003. No services are planned. Memorial contributions can be made to The Scholarship Fund of the San Juan Masonic Lodge in Friday Harbor, Wash. 98250.
He was born March 6, 1913 in Union, Neb., son of William and Grace (Gerking) Sikes. He graduated from Bayard, Neb., High School. He married ArBelle Anne East on July 3, 1943 in Ingilchrist, Ore. He resided in Ashland from 1933 to 1975, and in Friday Harbor, Wash., from 1975 to 2002.
Ralph was a truck driver in the logging and lumber industries. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and making obsidian arrowheads and knives.
He was a life member and past master of the Masonic Lodges in Ashland and Friday Harbor, Wash. He also drove the senior citizens van in Friday Harbor for 18 years.
Survivors include sons, Robert Sikes of Elmira, Ore. and Donald Sikes of Big Fork, Mont.; daughter, Sandra Franklin of Jacksonville, Ore.; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, ArBelle on April 7, 2001.
