Ava Mae Slade
The funeral for Ava Mae Slade will be at 1 p.m. today in the Conger-Morris Chapel, Medford. Interment will follow in the Eagle Point National Cemetery.
Mrs. Slade, 83, of Medford, died Friday (April 10, 1998) at Hearthstone.
She was born Ava Mae Dean on March 14, 1915, in Van Zant County, Texas.
She moved to the Rogue Valley in 1946 from Woodville, Texas.
On May 7, 1965, in Carson City, Nev., she married George Slade, who preceded her in death.
She enjoyed gardening and sewing.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Bostwick, Talent, Judy Goodin, Klamath Falls, Bonnie Davidson, McMinnville, and Barbara Golden, Danville, Va.; two stepsons, Glen Cooper, Glendale, and Joe Cooper, Las Vegas, Nev.; a stepdaughter, Katherine Cooper, Las Vegas; four sisters, Lora Fohl, Grants Pass, Vera Copeland, Fort Worth, Texas, Willa Mae Foxworth, Woodville, and Fay Swearinger, in Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and James Ray Dean.

Billie Ernest LaGrave
The memorial service for Billie Ernest LaGrave will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Conger-Morris Chapel, Medford.
Mr. LaGrave, 59, of Medford, died Friday (April 10, 1998) in Medford.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1425 N.E. Irving St., Suite 100, Portland, OR 97232.
He was born March 2, 1939, in Grants Pass, a son of Ernest and Rilla LaGrave.
Mr. LaGrave worked for Delah Timber Products in White City for 20 years.
He enjoyed bowling.
Survivors include a brother, Jerry, in Arkansas; a half-brother, Albert Lozden, Medford; and a half-sister, Marie DeMichele, Sacramento, Calif. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Richard LaGrave.

Dorothy Cameron
Dorothy Cameron, 98, of Medford, died Saturday (April 11, 1998) at her home. No service is planned. Inurnment will be in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.
She was born Dorothy Edwards on Jan. 14, 1900, in Portland.
On Sept. 19, 1944, in Terra Bella, Calif., she married Harry W. Cameron, who died in 1962.
Mrs. Cameron lived in Ashland as a child and teenager then moved to Alhambra, Calif., where she lived many years.
She moved to Medford in 1984 from Laguna Hills, Calif.
Survivors include a grand-nephew, William Dodge, Klamath Falls; and a grand-niece, Ellen Rubenstein, Phoenix, Ariz. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Jessie Dodge and Nita Abbott.

Paul E. Harrison
Paul E. Harrison, 78, of Medford, died Saturday (April 11, 1998) in Medford. A private service was held in Eagle Point National Cemetery.
He was born July 31, 1919, in Gridley, Kan.
After attending Kansas State University and the University of Wichita, he served four years in the U.S. Army.
On March 5, 1944, he married Katherine S. McDonald, who survives.
Mr. Harrison was a machinery designer and manufacturing engineer for engineering firms in California.
He enjoyed sailing, fishing, and playing bridge.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Paul M., Glen Grove, Calif., Hugh W., Gig Harbor, Wash., and Bruce L., Long Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Reba Switzer, Wichita, and Celia Belle Herring, Yates Center, Kan.; and five grandchildren.

Florence C. Tennity
Florence Catherine Tennity, 77, of Ashland, died Sunday (April 12, 1998) at her home. A private service is planned.

She was born Catherine Carpenter on Feb. 8, 1921, in Rochester, N.Y.
Mrs. Tennity was a restaurant manager.
She moved to the Rogue Valley six months ago from Hemet, Calif.
Mrs. Tennity was a member of Our Lady of the Mountain Catholic Church in Ashland. She enjoyed golfing and bridge.
Survivors include a daughter, Pamela Tennity, Ashland; a son, Thomas, Big Bear Lake, Calif.; a brother, Clarence Carpenter, Hemet; a sister, Marie Ellison, Hemet; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Jack D. Kinney
Friends and relatives of Jack D. Kinney will gather to celebrate his life at 2 p.m. May 2 at the Medford Gun Club, 1259 Vilas Road.
Mr. Kinney, 51, of Eagle Point, died Saturday (April 11, 1998) at his home.
He was born March 27, 1947, in Medford.
Mr. Kinney attended Lone Pine Elementary, Hedrick Junior High, and Medford High School.
On March 13, 1966, in Reno, Nev., he married Patti Mitchell Sciapiti. They later divorced.
On Aug. 23, 1986, at Lake of the Woods in Rocky Point, he married Pam Garvin, who survives.
Mr. Kinney was a painting contractor in Medford.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Kinney was a Christian and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three daughters, Kerri Stevens, Medford, Summer Kinney, Lake Oswego, and Julie Johnson, Corpus Christi, Texas; six brothers, Harold R., Central Point, Frank D., Gerald W., and Rube C. Jr., all Medford, Richard L., Eagle Point, and Bennie D., Port Angeles, Wash.; a sister, Jeannene Coffman, Medford; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rube and Evelyn Kinney.

Alice E. Younkin
The memorial service for Alice E. Younkin will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Glad Tidings in Darrington, Wash. Pastor Les Hagen will officiate. Interment will be in the Darrington Cemetery.
Mrs. Younkin, 93, of Medford, died Sunday (April 12, 1998) at her home.
She was born Alice Crisman on July 15, 1904, in Olympia, Wash.
She attended elementary school in Red Bluff, Calif., and graduated from high school in Auburn, Wash.
After graduating from Western Washington State College, Bellingham, she taught school for a few years in a two-room schoolhouse near Darrington.
On June 20, 1928, in Bellingham, Wash., she married Lyman William Younkin, who died in 1948.
Mrs. Younkin moved to the Rogue Valley in 1970 from Bellingham.
She was active in the Methodist Church until her health failed. Mrs. Younkin wrote "Timber Bowl Valley," a book about Darrington history and her family and friends.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, painting, and quilting.
Survivors include a daughter, Lucille Potts, Medford; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Lyman Younkin.

Maxine Wagaman
The graveside service for Maxine Wagaman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Medford. A grandson, Steve Blum, will officiate.
Mrs. Wagaman, 78, formerly of Central Point, died Sunday (April 12, 1998) at her home in Sutherlin.

She was born Maxine Thorton on Dec. 5, 1919, in Osborne, Kan.
On April 3, 1936, in Marysville, Kan., she married James Harold Wagaman, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wagaman owned and operated a secondhand store in Coos Bay for eight years before moving to the Medford area in 1970. She lived in the Rogue Valley until 1988 and in Sutherlin the past four years.
Mrs. Wagaman enjoyed flowers.
Survivors include a son, Robert, Dallas; two daughters, Jean Wagaman, Oakland, and Shirley Wagaman, Grand Ronde; a brother, Floyd Thorton, Las Vegas, Nev.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Bill.
Friends may pay their respects from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Central Valley Chapel, Central Point.
